quirkychick · 27/03/2010 12:00

cantthink labradoodles are very sweet, one of my friends dd 12 has one. But, are there none in London???

I definitely need to lose some of the baby weight and tone up completely a bit. I think I will try what I did last year before becoming pg. Gradually changing, reducing what I eat and exercising more. It's just fitting it in with 2 los.

I think Easter and lots of chocolate will not help. Think 80:20 not 50:50 . We had Chinese last night and I must confess to having prawn stir fry and rice, not too bad: it was just the prawn crackers, chips and curry sauce that dp ordered that did it .

I have spring cleaned cupboards so nuts, seeds and dried fruit more accessible rather than crap. Dp's niece is getting married in June so I need to be able to wear something reasonable rather than look like a big lump. Dd1 is going to be bridesmaid too.

whensmydayoff · 27/03/2010 20:38

albiesmummy shroom head - I haven't heard that but Im gonna keep it for furture use .

ali It was a very stressful time but it's all a distant memory now. You'll get here too! x

After today, id let Hanibal Lector Babysit - that's how chilled I am!

whensmydayoff · 28/03/2010 12:09

Right Im on for a moan - what else?!

DD - totally confused re sleep.

She actually slept from around 9 weeks from 11pm feed right through to 6am. I kept it very quiet as being a second time mum, I knew to shut up and not jinx!

Then 2 weeks into doing that she started to wake at 4am and DH could usually pacify her on his chest and she'd go back to sleep. A week into that she decided she would not go back to sleep, not until she reintroduced her 4am feed .

So, 3 weeks after having a sleeping non night feeding baby, Im now feeding her every night at 11pm and 4am.

One night I thought, sod waking her at 11pm, I'll just leave her and see what happens.
Amazingly she just slept right through from 7/8pm to 3am then to 6/6.30am. Brilliant I thought, back to one feed in the night.

This last week after the 3/4am feed, she wouldn't settle. I spent ages winding her but she rustled about in her moses basket until she started crying to be picked up - cue Daddy and his comfy chest!

Last night, she woke at 12.20am THEN 5am !

2 bloody feeds and now with clocks going forward that was me up (thank you Olivia for the impecable timing of that one)!

Grrrrr where am I going wrong. Why do you think she has slowly got worse and worse instead of the other way round.

Now I know there will be people with babies who are alot worse and thinking, hmm wish I had your problem BUT I DON'T CARE . I got my sleep back donkeys ago and now it's slowly being taken away again.

If anyone has any idea as to how my DD's mind is working let me know. Any idea's welcome....

Newbeginning1 · 28/03/2010 12:26

Hi everyone . I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I've just got back from a night in the hospital with DS.

He was grumpier than normal yesterday and he woke up screaming but i just couldn't get him to open his eyes no matter what i did. He either had them scrunched closed or they were closed like he was asleep and he looked like he was trying to open them but couldn't. I raced to hospital and on the way he would cry then go limp.

We saw 4 doctors all of which said different things but the outcome is they think he has bronchiolitis which explains his cough and cold but they have no idea why he went limp and was unresponsive so that's helpful.

Anyway, rant over about the stupid drs.

ctofn- i hope you got back ok from my neck of the woods

wmdo - i don't know what to suggest about the sleeping. Is your DD breast or bottle fed?

whensmydayoff · 28/03/2010 12:32

How scary newbeginnings Is he ok now?

He was maybe exhausted with the infection. Wanted to sleep but very ill.??

Ive had the limp, unresponsive thing with my DS (older though) and it's scary but it's sometimes how they react to being very poorly.

You did the right thing though. Always air on the side of caution and just take him up there. Hope he gets better soon (they usually bounce back).. x

Oh, and breast fed but in the great scheme of things - I'll just stop moaning .

Newbeginning1 · 28/03/2010 13:01

He seems fine now but is still very sleepy and his cough is worse.

wmdo - is your DD cluster feeding at night enough to see her through or could it be a growth spurt that she is taking her time with to keep you on your toes? The only other thing my HV has said is that some babies need a bit extra when they get to 4 months and they should have baby rice but i'm guessing as a Mum already you will know far more about it than me!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 28/03/2010 13:36

WMDO - my Olivia's sleeping is quite frankly all over the place. Very erratic, like her feeding - and they go hand in hand don't they!

Last night, she wouldn't take much of her 7pm feed, she was asleep in her cot at 7.30 and we have had no joy whatsoever with the dream feed of late as we basically can't wake her to take it! So I left her, she woke at 2am for a feed and then at 6am. I was reasonably happy with that. But sometimes it can be awake most of the night fretting and others going a really long stretch without needing a feed. Haven't a scoobies about it all tbh - but just think I'm going to have to go with the flow now .

NB - whoa, scary stuff! Glad your little chap seems better though and yes, I made it back in one piece. Beautiful part of the world and didn't take anywhere near as long as I thought as the A1 was clear both ways.

Now look to be getting another new addition to the family in a few weeks, by the name of Percy .

alibobins · 28/03/2010 13:43

NB Hope you are okay Don't hesitate to go back in if your not happy.
Did you go to Queens?

Jacob was a fussy pants again last night he fed at 1 then woke at 4 but was just really snuffly didn't know what he wanted eventually gave up and brought him down at 5 so very sleepy mummy today x x

Jacob's appointment is at 9 in the morning so fingers crossed.

whensmydayoff · 28/03/2010 13:53

What did they give you? If your not confident just go back up, who cares what they think.

Gawd knows re Olivia. Too gradual to be growth I think but not sure.

whensmydayoff · 28/03/2010 15:22

Oh lots of cross posting there.

Percy is a fine name for a Labradoodle .

We talked about one of those dogs too (DH Asthmatic and allergic to dogs). I just can't do the poop scoop thing. If they can cross breed a hypoallergenic dog with a colostomy bag - bingo, im in!

AND yes, you are indeed mad. It's lucky your an organised sort, Id breast feed the dog and stick Olivia on the grass for a widdle . Too exhausted and dizzy for 3 kids and a dog!

good luck ali with appointment. x

Your right about feeding and sleeping CTFN
Also, every feed is taking 40 mins to one hour and thats just purley feeding, then there's the settling.

Anyone who is BF a 3.5 month old - how long are your feeds taking?

She's just got me on toast I think.

verycherry · 28/03/2010 15:49

Hi all

Have not been able to post as computer is dead, dp has resurrected his old laptop so I can MN!

Can I join the weight thingy please?? I have utterly hideous muffin top and don t fit into lots of my pre preg clothes. I am 5'2' and weighed 9.6 last time I weighed myself (at my mums as don t have scales) but had not eaten properly for about a week following a d+v bug so am no doubt about 29 stone now following copious amounts of sticky toffee pudding....

I am utterly convinced that breastfeeding makes you hold onto the weight, I lost loads initially and was back in my size 10 skinny jeans (a large size 10 and squeezed into) when ds was 3 weeks old. I resorted to weightwatchers after ds3 as was still 9.10 when he was 6 months, am normally 8.10, but so don t want to do that again am thinking slimming world may be the way to go?

Am reading all the posts with face as everyone's baby's seem to be sleeping really well. Luca goes to bed at 7 then is generally feeding about 1 or 2 then again 3 hours later then awake at 6.30. I was euphoric when he started doing that at 9 wks as ds3 was just hideous but am so jealous of you lot with sleeping babes - anyone out there got one like mine??

I reckon I am actually going backwards the older I get and more children I have, ds1 was sleeping through 11-7 at 9 wks and 7-7 at 11 wks and was an absolute angel but since then its been all down hill!!!!!!

Hope you are all having lovely lazy sundays, I am off to take dp to the airport in a min (he works away all week, flies home on fridays back on sundays) but have had a lovely chilled out day, am having tea at my parents then once boys are in bed can read papers in peace, lovely!

verycherry · 28/03/2010 16:21

WMDO just wrote long post about feeding/sleeping and its disappeared.. so to precis Luca is 3m and excl bf, he feeds for 5-10 mins usually more like 5 and does nt need winding or settling.

BUT i have not had longer than 3 hours sleep at any time since he has been born. Now he goes to bed at 7 I could get a bit more but love my evenings to myself too much!

maygirl · 28/03/2010 23:04

Good luck with appt ali

DD waking for a couple of night BFs but she's only 6 weeks old. Her brother fed every 2 hrs night and day for what seemed like forever, and took around 40mins to feed. DD is much faster, she's like a suction pump . I'm the same as you verycherry, could go to bed early now both DCs usually tucked up by 8, but like the evenings to myself, so probably not had more than a 3 hr stretch of sleep either, similar feeding pattern, though she usually wakes up earlier the first waking. I'm not too bothered about getting her to go through the whole night during her first year really.
Hope DS ok newbeginning, you must have been so frightened.

maygirl · 28/03/2010 23:22

*WMDO if she's getting more interested in the world could she perhaps be cutting her day feeds a bit short, just taking the edge of her hunger and making up for it with a long feed at night iykwim? Sometimes I know I'm cutting a feed a bit short too if we're out and about, whereas at home I'd give her a break and then offer more. DD had her best nightso far after a lazy day at home on Friday with lots of feeds. Or is she getting big for her basket and waking up after hitting the sides? Feeding for 40 mins though sounds like she is really hungry.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 29/03/2010 07:03

Morning. Urgh - Not much sleep for moi last night. DH polished off most of a bottle of wine last night so promptly fell asleep on sofa , which meant I stayed up to do dream feed. Olivia fed about 11 and took 4oz - quite a feat with her! Great, I thought - I might get a good stretch now. So I took myself off to my bed (rather than the bunk bed in her room where I've been sleeping past couple of nights after moving her to cot). Cue 2am feed and 3.30am scream for dummy, a 4.30am wake up for dummy and a 5am feed!

The monitor was in my room as were the bottle warmer, formula and bottles. When I went back to my room to warm bottle at 5am, DH had a ridiculous fit about how I was selfish and trying to wake up everyone else in the house . Cue me losing my rag completely at him for absolutely ridiculously stupid comment. He then said "oh and you have to bring the monitor in here to I can hear her cry and all the stuff". I think he forgot I was sleeping in that bed tbh but my gods I was flipping out. Called him all the names under the sun and then couldn't get to sleep after the feed because I was soooooooooo angry still.

Anyway, sorry rant over. He is good most of the time but f**king stupidly annoying at others.

Right - packed lunches done, kitchen cleaned, bottles washed, sterlised and made up for the day. Now off for my Monday Weigh-In and shower!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 29/03/2010 08:16

Still 10st 6lb - no loss this week. But I did lose 5cm off my hips and I can now officially get into a bunch of pre-preg clothes - whooppee!

mama2moo · 29/03/2010 10:12

15st 6lb - 2lb loss!! Trouble is now I have my own scales I will be weighing myself all the time.

I hadnt thought to measure myself as well. I will do that tonight to see the inch loss as well (fingers crossed there will be some!!)

Babymoo slept from 8pm last night to 9am this morning - she woke about 4 times for a feed! Hopefully she will do it again. I didnt dare go to bed until 11pm as I was waiting for her to wake up ready for play!!

Rain here today so we are stuck inside - Has anyone mastered pushing a Phil and Teds whilst holding a brolly???!!

somewhathorrified · 29/03/2010 10:52

11st 5lb here, so somehow a 1 lb loss, not sure how that happened...does sucking chocolate burn calories then?

Re sleep/feed, Tobin has managed to increase the length of his feed back to about 40mins, not sure when that happened but I'm determined that we're going to get back to the 10-20min concentrated feeds. I still have a baby led mentality that way I don't think too much if he wants 1 or 2 feeds on any given night, I just figure he's hungry that day, the joys of not knowing how much they take when BF.

jardins · 29/03/2010 11:15

400g loss here which doesn't make a huge difference in stones and pounds but I'm quite pleased because it's half a kilo .... almost or almost one pound. I will be curious to see how much weight I will manage to lose as past experience has taught me that breastfeeding in my case causes my body to HOLD ON to the last four or five kgs. We shall see.

Newbeginning1 · 29/03/2010 12:36

ali - i hope that Jacobs appointment goes well. We went to Queens, is that where you take Jacob?

ctofn - does your DH have a hangover today? If so i recommend leaving Olivia with him tonight when he just wants to go to bed and any noise she makes will hurt his head and you enjoy a long soak and a glass of wine.

So, i'm now 13st 10lbs which is a 2lb loss although i'm not sure how much i will lose this week because i'm wanting to keep DS at home so hopefully he gets better so cue the eating out of boredom! Well done ctofn for your 5cm loss and mama2moo on your loss.

How has everyone else done?

Newbeginning1 · 29/03/2010 12:40

somewhathorrified and jardins well done. I didnt want you to think i was being ignorant, it just took me hours to write my post because i have a grumpy baby!!!

alibobins · 29/03/2010 14:04

Appointment went okay heart murmur is innocent he is pretty confident that the blueness was caused by reflux. He has been prescribed omprazole and domperidone.
Consultant thinks he is having apnea's as he went very pale and a bluish tinge whilst we were there.
We have been referred to a dietician re weaning when the time comes. We go back in May.

On the weight loss I've lost 3lb (yipee) so now weigh 13st 9lb

Jacob now weighs 12lb 5oz and 58cm he's 16 weeks x x

Fraochsmum · 29/03/2010 14:48

That is good news all round ali! You must be really pleased, and what a great weight he is. And what a great weight you have lost!
I am 9st 11lb today, but like jardins, I'm wondering how much I will actually get close to my previous weight because of bf. 5 extra cups full of boob must have quite a bearing on it surely?
ctofn - I think I would have had the same reaction to your DH, how infuriating!
Cara slept through again last night yipee! She went through the night for 3 days in a row last week - I won't take it as a given, but just be thankful when it does happen. I slept-talked last night When DH turned over I shouted at him to watch the baby as she was asleep on the pillow. He said she wasn't, but I insisted she was. He said; "Fraochsmum, she's in her crib!", I said "I know she is. Oh". What a dumbass!!!
Hope you are well x

whensmydayoff · 29/03/2010 14:54

Brilliant news re murmour ali. Apnea is normal with reflux. Olivia still does it when Im feeding her and she gets sleepy but not for long. Makes you nervous though eh.

Omerprazole and Domperidon is what Olivia gets. Evan had it too. Nippy stuff.

So you have to give on empty stomach then wait half an hour after Omep. 15 mins for Domperidone. Loooooong wait for a hungry baby.

Use the syringes that come in boxes of Ibuprofen for children. There's no nib to stab his inner cheek/tounge with so less screaming.

Bottles useless as they retain the beads they need from Omep.

Get right into his cheek or he will just let it spill out.

Olivia gathers it under her tounge for ages then just when you think you've cracked it, out it comes with a big smile .

Brilliant medicine though and you will have a different baby after a good week of giving it.

Domperidone is fine - it's sweet, she looks forward to that bit and I noticed with Evan and now with Olivia, it teaches them to kind of eat. They learn to stop pushing with their tounges. Evan took to solids instantly at 5 months. Olivia looks like she is eating chocolate buttons with the Domperidone!

Right, so I exfoliated, cut my toes nails, trimmed my bush fingernails, breast fed, went for a pee AND....2lb off!! Yeah, 9 stone 12 pounds now.

What do you think CTFN, will we just all cut and paste with our new weight and loss or should you do it all. It's what ever you think will work better. Is it not alot of faffing for you if your constantly having to do it?

Oh your DH. Slap slap. It's lucky he is usually good or there would be a torent of abuse from us .

Wine and sleep deprivation would make Mary Poppins grumpy so we will let it lie - for now but he better redeem hmself pronto.

Remember to point out where he went wrong later won't you !

How is your wee man newbeg?
