Bicnod tis dead easy for a CM to register for vouchers. At least it was with BusyBees - she just had to fill in a form and it was done.

Ours gets paid on our holidays but we don't have to pay for hers. Not that she goes away much. I think that's relatively standard.

And we would pay if BW is ill but not if she is.

Yay for (slightly) better sleeping! How easy was it to drop the morning nap? Am considering doing the same in the next week or two, but I think I'll wait until the current cold is over .

Bicnod · 02/02/2010 20:39

Thanks Zulu I think I'm going to ask how many weeks holiday she will take and suggest a notice period for her taking time off (so we can either go away ourselves at that time or arrange cover for O). Will also suggest that we don't pay if she's away but do pay if we're away and she's available. Do I have to pay for bank holidays do you think?

I just dropped it. He didn't settle easily for it a couple of times and I thought it maybe meant he didn't need it. He now goes down very easily at lunchtime and I'm helping him stretch out his nap time - hoping to get it to a consistent 2 hours post-lunch.

Fei how's H's sleep doing now? Were you woken early again?

SardineJam · 02/02/2010 20:45

Thanks ladies cutseys
I'm 24 and sadly back at work after 9 wonderful months of maternity leave. Its been good timing because unfortunately dp was let go from his job two weeks ago. Ds1, Nicholas James, was born on 9 April, 9 lb 11 oz. He's now at nursery but is absolutely loving it, much to my relief! He's recently started to become a co sleeper, which is okay but our bed just isnt big enough, so I end up lying on the very edge, great!!! He's not the best solid eater, more of a boob monster and the hv isnt happy with his lack of weight gain, but he is bright eyed and bushy tailed, and I think that mother's instinct wins in this matter. Anyways, that's me in a nutshell

SardineJam · 02/02/2010 20:46
  • curtseys , i meant!
PuzzleRocks · 02/02/2010 20:53

Just a quickie. Big kisses to those who have added their names to my thread.

And a warm welcome to Sardine. Amen to mother's instinct.

Ooh, I've just added Sardine to the list. I feel like I've done something naughty! It's tough going back to work Sardine - but sounds like you're doing fine. Is wee Nicholas a good boy otherwise?

And when you said "cutseys" I thought "yes, we are quite cute actually"

Thanks Bicnod - no idea about back holidays. We are far too blase to organise such things. I wish I was more organised... Might have a shot at dropping that morning nap though.

Hey Puzzle.

ZuluWarrior · 02/02/2010 21:21

bank holidays, obviously.

getOVERyourself · 02/02/2010 22:14

Hello lovelies

Welcome SardineJam!

Have been lurking but not posting - have managed to kill another laptop and been frantic with house move and mum and teething Orbit.

Mum is going back into hospital tomorrow, they're not happy with her progress as she's not clearing the jaundice very quickly and is still very weak and tired. Although I'm upset that she's not doing well, I think hospital is exactly where she needs to be, so am a bit relieved in a way. They are still talking about doing surgery but have been very clear about risks, it's by no means a routine operation and is quite dangerous, especially as the tumour is very near the main artery. So we are all on tenterhooks. Had my dad staying for a couple of days to see Mum which was nice but more work for me as he's an old fashioned sort, you know, likes his tea brought to him in bed etc etc

Have ordered Bosch Logixx washing machine after you all raved about the Maxx - the Logixx is the same range and a Which Best Buy, so am hoping it's a good one.

Packers come on Friday, moving on Saturday, help!

Had meeting with boss re flexible working - his response was essentially 'I don't know' They're still working on the new structure so still don't know what my job will actually be. Oh well, it's the least of my worries right now!

Have been lurking and hope all goes well with house moves/childminders/offers etc- sorry can't catch up, have to go and email nursery about DS1's fees. Sigh.

Bicnod ask about food and where O will sleep, they're my most important things for childminders. Also holidays, normal to pay for yours but not theirs I think, sometimes half rates.

Boff hope this nanny sticks!

Will check in again when I can

xx

dawntigga · 03/02/2010 08:07

Can't catch up can barely see.

The Cub has decided to be a monster whilst daddy is away.

Puzzle, how do you do it???????

Can'tWaitForFridayNightTiggaxx

PuzzleRocks · 03/02/2010 08:27

Tigga - How do I do what?

PuzzleRocks · 03/02/2010 08:29

getO - Will the surgery be today?
I'll be thinking of you.

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 08:41

Ha ha I read that as 'Boff hope this nanny stinks'

5am start again. DH is angry with me because I forgot to keep our copy of the contract with the estate agent but then I was in a horrible hurry when I dropped it off yesterday. Will have to go retrieve it, along with a cheque from the nursery because they charged us too much this month. Why do things keep going wrong?

WFH fingers crossed for your mum - I think you're right, she'll be well looked after in hospital. Also hope the move goes smoothly, at least you don't have to do the packing yourself.

SardineJam, don't listen to the HV.

dawntigga · 03/02/2010 10:13

Be a single parent - you've got 2 ffs, I'm just about coping with 1!!!!!!

Sardinejam - don't take him to get him weighed. The Cub has been weighed once in the last 7 months.

FreakingSuperWomanPuzzleTiggaxx

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 10:16

No, surgery won't be for a few weeks - she needs to be clear of jaundice and fit and well before that, as it's a long operation.

Waiting for DS1's primary school place letter.......posted second class on Friday, please let it arrive today!

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 03/02/2010 10:18

I would loveto be able to vent and make myself feel better but I cant even put in to words to myself why Im not coping so I certainly cant put it in words on here.

I feel really isolated and alone, the only 'friend' I have is my SIL who is generally busy at work and the thought of even attempting to go to any groups is terrifying. Not that there seem to be any suitable ones round here any way.

I just dont seem to cope being on my own with them and to top it all off they are now both full of cold and coughing and are just whinging which makes everything 10X worse.

xXx

PuzzleRocks · 03/02/2010 10:19

Tigga - Erm, i'm not a single parent.

GetO - I hope you get the place you want.

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 03/02/2010 10:22

That post sounds awful!

I love my kids I really do and they arent even half as bad as that post makes them sound.

On a better note I am currently rather proud of myself as I have finally got my arse in gear and plucked up the guts to phone the school we want DS to go to and he now has a nursery place there starting next January! Unfortunately that doesnt guaranteer him a school place so we will still have to worry about that later but one stap at a time.

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 10:33

Tigga, do you mean Nutty? Puzzle has a young man in her life, I believe!

PuzzleRocks · 03/02/2010 10:34

If 37 is young.

PuzzleRocks · 03/02/2010 10:37

Frogmella - It really doesn't sound awful. We have all been saying similar things over the past few weeks.
It is a tough time at the moment. I am really looking forward to the warmer weather and lighter evenings. It makes everything seem better.

getOVERyourself · 03/02/2010 11:43

Hooray hooray!!

Hooray!

DS1 got place at our second preference, an excellent small primary which is still within walking distance of new house.

WrigglyGiggly · 03/02/2010 12:16

Yay - congrats to GetO for school place and Frogella for nursery place.

And GetO glad your mum is being well looked after.

Puzzle 37 is young. My DH turned 37 a few weeks ago .

Frogmella I can totally sympathise. Days spent with two rampaging small people can be really tough. I do recommend going to groups though. It's hard and I confess that I probably wouldn't have gone originally if we had had central heating, but I was so bloody cold at home that DD and I started going to groups to keep warm, and now we really enjoy them. Definitely helps us get through the bleak winter months. Staying home all day can be an uphill struggle. My DD is like a whirlwind of havoc and destruction leaving a trail of chaos in her wake.

I'm sure there must be something going on near you. The Govt has spent a fortune on Children's Centres - most of which are equipped with lots of shiny new toys and offer a range of heavily subsidised activities. Some areas also have one-o'clock clubs. And round here all the church halls hold toddler groups. Have a look on your Mumsnet Local pages or Netmums.

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 12:43

I am going to be 37 this year and I dare everyone to tell me I am not young .

Yay for school place! I have been wondering what happens if you move between applying and them actually starting school. You don't change your application then, so long as you're still staying in the area, even if the move means you might be further away from the schools you chose?

Frogmella, I agree, getting out and about is hard but I go mad whenever I stay inside with the two of them.

Feierabend · 03/02/2010 12:44

Off to change the third poo nappy today. Sigh.
