Fei - Nothing at all. I was musing about John Terry and then linked about another matter entirely.
Ann Sinnott wrote a book about breastfeeding older children. She was a guest on GMTV but they did a hatchet job, unsurprisingly because they have always had a very anti-breastfeedig agenda. Some people question whether this is because they are sponsored by Nestle.
I and others thought it would be interesting to have her on for a web chat, not least because she wasn't given a voice in the shitty GMTV interview.

Feierabend · 01/02/2010 08:57

Ah. Well I am contemplating stopping bf some time soon because Hazel STILL wakes up at 5am (actually, last night it was 4am ) and since leaving her to cry doesn't help, I thought taking the boob from her altogether might do the trick. It's a bit of a desperate attempt but I am sooo fed up with the early morning crying, and she's caught all of DD1's bugs anyway so I doubt that my milk still provides her with any useful antibodies. Can anyone think of a good reason why I should keep going?

So, more snow! It looks lovely but can we have some warm spring weather now please?

Bicnod · 01/02/2010 10:02

Morning ladies Had a pretty horrible weekend with Oscar, he had a temp of 40.1 at one stage Fei, really hope H is ok? I was panicking that he had passed whatever it was on to her as he must have been sickening for it that day you came over. He's fine now - no temp and much happier - but it was pretty scary when his temp wouldn't come down even with calpol.

I've decided to properly do some of the techniques from Elizabeth Pantley's no cry sleep solution. I'll let you all know how we get on. We started yesterday and only had 2 wake ups, but probably more due to him feeling better after being poorly than any change in settling technique!

Right - off to playgroup. Sun is shining and its forecast to be miserable for the rest of the week so got to get out of the house...

p.s. Puzzle - excellent thread - will post on it when back

bebemoohatessnot · 01/02/2010 10:21

hi

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 01/02/2010 11:06

Just want to say hi and Ive not forgotten about you all!!!

Having a rough time at the minute and not coping with being a mummy of 2.

Feierabend · 01/02/2010 12:29

Frogmella come and talk to us, we know how you feel!

Bicnod no, Hazel is fine so far, poor little Oscar but glad he's already feeling better. Did he just have the temperature or any other symptoms with it?

Well we went to the surgery because H was supposed to have her second dose of the flu jab today, and the nurse sent us home because she couldn't find the vaccine!

PuzzleRocks · 01/02/2010 13:38

Bicnod - Poor O. That must have been scary.

Frogmella - We are always here lovely. Come offload.

Fei - 5am sounds rough. I have no idea what to suggest. Hopefully someone else will.

PuzzleRocks · 01/02/2010 13:42

SHAMELESS REQUEST TO ALL

I need your support here

Bicnod · 01/02/2010 14:21

Hi Frogmella - sorry things are so tough for you at the moment sending big hugs. As Fei and Puzzle said we are here if you want to talk about it x

Fei - high temp and a few dodgy nappies. Poor little monkey - at least it explains why he was so awful when you came to visit! But he's right as rain again now thankfully. So glad H is ok. Can't believe your surgery - that's rubbish! So have they told you when you can come back?

Puzzle - have added my support

bebemoohatessnot · 01/02/2010 14:38

Do men actually have a problem with breastfeeding? Has anyone encountered a man who gets turned off by breastfeeding? And the bigger question is WHY? if we're so liberated from what they think of us do women care if men do get turned off simply because we're breastfeeding?

bronze · 01/02/2010 16:29

Well I don't care. My husband doesn't get turned off and surely thats the important bit. Actually wish he got turned off a bit more having been jumped at lunchtime today.

I am shattered. After Izy was ill at Christmas his sleep patterns have gone haywire and I seem to be up every hour unless I fall asleep feeding him last night.

Puzz I've never fancied being much of an extended feeder myself (maybe 18 mths) but my goods CB-C and th elike on GMTV really get my hackles up when they spout such shite such as coke being the same as breastmilk (I actually saw it that morning and my goodness it put me in a foul mood. I'm all for people doing what suits them and more importantly their child, within reason.

Ds1 is on at the autistic spectrum, we're just waiting for yet more referrals. The TA from that incident got a reprimand, quite what we don't know as they couldn't tell us apparently.

I have a very sore right boob, I always seem to get mastitis when hes teething particularly badly. I think it messes up his latch

bronze · 01/02/2010 16:36

sorry was trying to catch up but have to run. will finish later

hi springy btw

dawntigga · 01/02/2010 16:48

Day 1 of single parenthood (Robin had to go to Turkey with work) and The Cub is already trying to find my tensile breaking strenghth.

BoffinMum · 01/02/2010 17:16

God I am posting so infrequently I actually lost the thread.

Got to get back to marking UG essays ... love y'all! xx

bebemoohatessnot · 01/02/2010 18:08

(sorry, that's what I took away from the Ann article in the guardian)

PuzzleRocks · 01/02/2010 18:27

Just to clarify, I stopped with Ellen at 2yrs 6mths. That was personally enough for me. But I don't see why others shouldn't continue for as long as they and their child wish.
The likes of CBC and LK can piss off with their sneering ignorance.

Regardless of your opinions on the subject I think it would be fascinating to have Ann on so again I make my plea....

PLEASE ADD A YEA TO MY THREAD HERE
THANK YOU

Bicnod - Thanks lovely.

Bebe - No idea. I know DH has no issues whatsoever, he is very supportive. I would have no respect for a "man" who had a problem with it.
To be honest we both miss my boobs a bit but it's not forever, one day they will be merely decorative again rather than functional and when that day comes we plan to hit Agent Provocateur to celebrate.

Bronze - You poor scrap, is Izzy teething?
Glad to hear the TA got a reprimand. Let's hope they learnt their lesson.

Boff - What up girlfriend.

Bicnod · 01/02/2010 19:31

Hmmm. In that case my boobs must be merely decorative right now. I think I need a new exterior designer.

PuzzleRocks · 01/02/2010 19:56

Oh i'm totally rebuilding when the time comes. Major extension.

ZuluWarrior · 01/02/2010 19:59

I'm so glad it's been quiet over the weekend - easier to keep on top of it all!

Feier, if you're sick of breastfeeding and you think stopping might help with the waking, then go for it. There's little point going on if you're not enjoying it any more (IMO). I'm about to stop because I'm finding it more of a chore now.

Bicnod, how is O? Both with the illness and NCSS? BW has been hot and snotty all weekend, with a barking cough on Sat. Luckily it went away again... I am terrified what my tits'll be like once I stop feeding. They're like spaniels' ears after a feed already.

Bronze, hope you get some sleep tonight and your boob gets better.

Puzz, off to read your thread. I just called you Puss by mistake and had to delete it . I've made enough typo faux pas this week.

I've been swanning around most of the weekend. Went to the first birthday of my friend's daughter on Sat. She is indian and they put on the most amazing food. I stuffed my face, as did the baby. Mmmmmmmm.

Did anyone else watch the tennis and want to take Andy Murray home and mother him? Or is it just me? .

Feierabend · 01/02/2010 20:40

Good evening. We have just put in an offer on a house that needs a ridiculous amount of work, but would be perfect for us in the long run. I have also fallen in love with another house that's not quite in the right location, but fairly close, and will drag DH along for a viewing on Saturday. And, our own house is going on the market tomorrow. I am excited, and scared! Also I am a bit drunk because I had a pint with my dinner Seriously, I can't cope with alcohol any more.

Hello Boff. Come right back and tell us how you are!

Feierabend · 01/02/2010 20:41

LOL at Puss

BoffinMum · 01/02/2010 21:20

Well, ladies, I have a temp nanny AND SHE HAS STAYED LONGER THAN THREE HOURS! And a permanent one lined up for a couple of weeks time. And the temp nanny was lovely and very proficient and professional on her first day today. And I marked 2/3 of the essays! So I am not so behind now!

Feierabend · 02/02/2010 08:00

Yay Boff, hopefully this is the end of the Boffin Nanny Saga. You've really had a shit time with them.

Well I've just had to put the Madam down for her morning nap at 7.50 after she decided to get up at 6am . This is Not Good. This child needs to learn to sleep properly before I go back to work.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

WrigglyGiggly · 02/02/2010 08:38

Yawn. Send her over here Fei. Getting up at 6am isn't a problem chez Wriggly. Waking up and rampaging at 11:30 and every half hour thereafter throughout the night is, however, Not Good.

The devil got into my baby last night. And he's still rampaging now. No signs of wanting a nap or anything.

Boff, good to see you are still around and sorting out nannies.

hello to Springy. Saw you popped in.

Frogmella hope all OK. It's hard work. Feel free to vent.

Zulu - LOL @ Puss.

Puzzle - LOL @ major extension.

Bronze - LOL @ jumped at lunchtime. This is how you got to be a mum of 4, eh!?

Bebe - my DH is actually a little afraid of lactating boobies. But mine do tend to squirt quite forcefully, which is probably a little alarming if it hits you in the eye.

Tigga - I think I will be coming round to your house to lick your bathroom clean. After ranting about DH dropping the baby, I dropped him myself. He vwriggled free as I was trying to get him in the sling. Cut his lip. Horrible, horrible horrible. Poor baby.

bronze · 02/02/2010 10:13

Fei- Good luck with the house

I've fallen in love with a house that needs work but its by tender, bids in in the middle of the month and as we have a buyer we can't go for it. I hope you have better luck

Wriggly- I think its because once Izy goes to sleep in the evenings so do I so hes trying a different tactic
