Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

Went to a pilates class today. Didnt half feel it in my stomach lol. Going to do circuit training aswell next week. I will get myself fit and healthy (and skinny )
Has anyone else started trying to lose weight? Is there any tips going around??

Elizabeth was so cute yesterday, sitting in her pram trying to grab Bob (Bob is a weird jangly thing, cant decide what he is, a cross between a caterpillar and a grub I think!) Anyways she managed to grab him and was chomping quite happily on him. She looked so pleased with herself once she got hold of him.

She also tries to suck her thumb at the same time as feeding which makes it rather hard! Im having to wedge her arm under mine to stop her from doing it, but I swear she tickles me on purpose so I'll move and she can free her arm! Ive never known anything like it!

hendo77 · 09/04/2010 19:14

ABF - yes I am also trying to lose weight (although trying more in my head than in actually managing to do anything about it!). I was v overweight before getting pregnant, was v good during my pregnancy and lost all baby weight almost immediately but haven't lost anything since depsite exclusively bfing.

Now the sun's out though I'm trying a bit harder and I choose a side salad instead of chips today when out for lunch, after getting up and mowing the lawn and doing some gardening. Hoping to start swimming again next week, and trying not to have any 'naughty' foods in the house as well as walking rather than driving now the weather is nicer. It's soooo frustrating as I am rubbish and know what I need to do, just find it really difficult to put it into practise and like eating a lot!

PartialToACupOfMilo · 09/04/2010 20:33

Hi all,

I think Tess must be one of the oldest - born on the 5th (18wks tomorrow). She's the youngest from my ante-natal classes, so it seems a bit odd for her to be doing some things earlier than other babies - she's usually the last.

We've had rolling (front to back) quite a bit, although she's stopped doing it now and is concentrating on going from back to front. She can manage to her side but can't go any further. I think she can only focus on one skill at a time! She's only noticed her feet once and that was this week... maybe once she's mastered to back to the front roll, she'll start on her feet Or maybe she's really gifted and realises there's little point when she's usually wearing tights not socks!

ABF - Tess also tries to suck her fingers/thumb when she's feeding. She was trying to put both nipple and finger in at the same time but now she takes a quick break for the fingers!

Lee - Good to hear things are not too bad with your son. I'm dreading the first time Tess hurts herself, even though I know she's bound to at some point.

I think we have started with the teething pains We've had some horrible moments over the last couple of days and she has red cheeks and demon-dribble. I gave her some A&P powders this evening and they had an immediate effect - couldn't believe it. Felt a bit illicit giving them to her though, they come as loose white powder in a paper wrap! My mum told me I didn't cut any teeth until I was 6 months old, so we may be in for the long haul waiting for the first couple to arrive. It's only been a few weeks since the wind problems were keeping us up, now it's going to be teeth - is there ever a real break??

GoldenSnitch · 09/04/2010 20:54

Catherine is constantly chomping on her little fist. Keep meaning to get DS's baby book out and see when he first got teeth. She also tries to get nipple and hand in mouth at the same time so I trap her arm under mine just like ABF. She seems to stroke me with her fingers when I do and it can be very ticklish.

I've not been running for over a week now as we've all been feeling a bit ill but am determined to get started again - especially now I've signed up for the Race for Life 10k at the beginning of June!! Just ordered a new fitness DVD too. Davina's Post Natal one is getting to be a bit easy now so I think I'm ready for something a bit harder although I ill still have to be a bit careful with myself while feeding as apparently you continue to make relaxin while you're feeding and I don't want to damage my joints.

GoldenSnitch · 09/04/2010 20:59

Less than 50 messages till we need a new thread! Anyone got a clever title idea?

Decemeber 2009 : ......??

Kingsroadie · 09/04/2010 22:33

Hi everyone,

just a quick post before heading off tmr at early o'clock! So excited - apparently the snow is still okay and it's v sunny. We're off to Verbier.

Anyway thanks for all bday messages. Hubby gave me a card whch he had written in from him, P and the cats and it was very sweet - I cried. And he had got me some pink veuve cliquot which is my fave, and some champneys scrubs and relaxing things for when P is in bed, and loads of sweets which I love. So he had got me a present! and was just grumpy cos he said he wanted to buy a proper present - he got the card from a card shop so he made it sound much worse than it was. I didn't see him at all really - 1/2 and hour at 6:30 am and half an hour at 11pm. But I knew that! Was an odd bday compared to last year though! No dinner in the evening a deax - but then, that is not because of the baby, that was because of work. But hopefully he won't have to do too much now and we can relax and have a nice hol!

P must be one of the oldest, due Dec 2nd, born Nov 26th, a week early - so was 19 weeks yesterday. Sadly she is not doing any moving at all as the cast somewhat limits her! Her little friend came over today (a day older) and rolld onto her tummy which was so cool - but made me a little sad too. nevermind - sooo much better this is done now...

Lee and Claire - hope things get better soon - poor you!

Good luck whoever is trying to lose weight!

I will maybe have a look at the thread whilst away - don't leave without me - or let me know where you have all gone if ths fills up! have a lovely week everyone...

BexJ78 · 09/04/2010 22:37

How about, 'December 2009: from tiny babies to roly poly puddings!' Just a suggestion; i'm sure someone else can come up with something better!

Just been catching up on the thread. sorry to hear about your DS Lee, hope he is on the mend.

Anna is doing really well. She is still sleeping through from 8.30pm ish until 7am, so we are well pleased with that. we had a bit of a scare the other night though, she woke us up at 2.30am, and when i went into the nursery she had come out from under the covers, rolled onto her front and somehow got her foot stuck through the cot bars. She couldn't work out how to get it out and was really crying poor little soul. i know in the grand scheme of things and compared to what some of your LO's have had to put up with it's nowt , but it was a big deal to us!

She started rolling over this week and now seems to make it her mission every day to roll over several times. Problem is that once she gets there, she gets all in a tizz and starts crying! She can lift her head up quite well though and is trying to push up onto her knees. I think we might haveto 'baby proof' the house sooner than we thought! Think she is a bit grisly too because, like others have mentioned, i think she might be starting with teething. She is chewing a lot and dribbling and also has a bit of a sore bum, which i understand can be a sign? We keep checking her gums and no sign of anything yet, but think they are giving her a bit of grief.

went into town today on the bus. Total nightmare...got on bus, already two wheelchairs on, so no space really for us with the pushchair. tried to fold pushchair up, whilst holding anna, changing bag and handbag. All the time more and more people were getting on the bus, with more buggies and loads of bads and stuff! Luckily some kind people offered to help, but by time i got to my stop in town i was bright red and boiling hot with all the stress!

Anyway, less droning on about myself. Hope you are all ok and that you have a good weekend. xxx

legscrossed · 09/04/2010 23:01

partial.....what is a+p powder, sounds interesting for future ref.

Got fist sucking, fingers so deep makes self sick n mega dribble, so....teeth?

Just as well down to my last grobag!

LaDiDaDi · 10/04/2010 08:26

Tired here today! Trying to see if dd can manage without pull ups at night whilst she's on Easter hols from nursery (I think the answer is no). Awake once to change her wet bed, once as she wahted cuddles and to get into bed with me. Fed ds just before midnight and another three times by 7am. Both awake at 7.45 when dp left for work.

At least the sun is shining .

AmazingBouncingFerret · 10/04/2010 09:15

Countdown to back to nursery! Feels like he has been off forever!

Elizabeth has a new game. She is obsessed with blowing rasberries now. She is even more impressed if you do them back to her. I think she thinks she is communicating!

Put a nice DVD on for your DD and have a snooze on the sofa LaDiDaDi.

GoldenSnitch · 10/04/2010 09:30

Countdown to start of Pre-school here. DS has his first ever day left in the care of someone he isn't either related to or that I've known since before he was born on the 20th!!

sparklycheerymummy · 10/04/2010 09:41

hi everyone ...... ds sleeping better.... 7pm till 6am last night, not rolling but trying to, holds his head up well but sure he was almost doing it at birth to be honest..... think his big size gave him lots of strength! he reaches for his dummy now if i hold it in my teeth and grabs it off me and when i sing certain songs to him he waits for the dancing bit and gets excited!!! I love this stage!!!! he is 17 weeks today and i confess is already having little meals...... he is loving it and is so much happier.... he weighs about 21lb now so there was only so long i could hold off for..... he has 2 or 3 bf a day and 2 ff and its all tickety boo..... feel better since i have given myself a break a bit and gone with what ds wants and needs rather than what i want him ti want an dneed if you see what i mean! Have also done a bit of controlled crying....just once in night to get past the 2am calling out in his sleep but not awake bit and it seems to have worka nd realy didnt take long and he really hardly cried. i just kept popping in every 2 mins to plug him in or give him a quick cuddle and then put him down..... so didnt leave him for ages screaming but i stuck to my guns and made the response the same every time. dp has taken ds for a walk while me and dd shower and get dressed and have an hour together time. THE SUN IS SHINING!!! Heading to the allotment later where we have made a mobile with cds for ds to look at and we put the music and bubble machine on and he love it!!! dd also pushes him around in his pram which she likes too xx

enjoy your day everyone xxx

sparklycheerymummy · 10/04/2010 09:48

Ladidadi..... i remember saying a while ago...... it gets easier, it gets easier, it gets easier!!!! I am just having a good day following a good night but there has been many grey ones and we have a meal out later for step sons 16th birthday at 5pm when ds is always cranky!!!

hendo77 · 10/04/2010 09:53

Bex - I like that name, better than anything I tried to come up with!!!

ABF - Imogen was taught to blow raspberries by her auntie on holiday last week and hasn't stopped, we also think she thinks its like talking!!! One night she woke up at 4 in the morning and then just laid there blowing raspberries and squealing at herself in delight, despite the annoying time of night it was very funny.

Still v jealous of all sleeping babies - we still wake up every 3/4 hours throughout the night for feeding... but now it's lovely and sunny I don't mind so much the next day!

Have a good holiday Kings.

MrFlibble · 10/04/2010 10:10

Lol hendo, Elizabeth also does the squealing and rasberry blowing at random times in the night! DH and I cant help laughing at her even though we woul rather have peace and quiet!

MrFlibble · 10/04/2010 10:11

Erm Its AmazingBouncingFerret here BTW!!

Giving my alternative nickname a quick spin around.

HollyHo · 10/04/2010 10:49

Morning!
All well here. Just had a lovely long soak in the bath whilst DD naps and and DH sleeps in.

Have the naming ceremony to go to today. Quite excited at getting DD all dressed up. Slightly annoyed with myself for leaving the buying of the tights so late - had to scramble around yesterday afternoon to a couple of supermarkets and the only thing I could find were a packet of 6-12 month wooly tights, one colour being distinctly cream not white. It was too late to go into town and Cambridge is a nightmare for traffic so couldn't go this morning. I was in town this week - I could have popped into John Lewis and got what I wanted... nevermind. DD will have to sport cream tights that are slightly too big (Nora Battyesque). She'll look adorable anyway am sure. I will take a photo. I really am not a girly girl - but I am surprising myself with this colour matching dress up malarkey!

The sun is shining here - think I will dig out some sunscreen for her cheeks. I hope you all have a lovely day!

Claire236 · 10/04/2010 11:44

Currently sending ds2 sleepy vibes as he's strggling to go down for his nap. dh let him fall asleep in his bouncy chair so he slept for 20 mins rather than his usual few hours & is now still tired but won't go to sleep. Then dh got snotty with me when I told him that rather than moaning about ds2 crying he should have got off the bloody computer & put him to bed rather than leaving him to doze in his chair. I've told him before he needs to go in his cot if he's going to have a proper sleep. dh isn't usually lazy but he's caused me loads of bloody work this week & has now got a dodgy tummy again because he decided to go out & have a few beers with a mate last night when yesterday was his first day of eating properly since he started with his upset stomach. There were loads of things I wanted to do this week & we haven't done any of them. Did manage to buy some new clothes yesterday for me & both ds's. Got a really pretty top in Zara which is dead summery. I love buying summer clothes, so much better than buying winter ones. Sadly I bought a few work bits as it's not long now before I go back.

The sun is in & out here today so not sure whether to trust it or not.

ds2 is 19 weeks today. He's rolled over a few times & finds it amusing to roll onto his side then onto his back again but hasn't deliberately rolled all the way over & gets stroppy when he does it by accident. He does a weird sort of leopard crawl if you put him on his tummy. He's started reaching out & grabbing things on purpose now. He's got 4 teeth now, 1 of which he's had for about 6 weeks.

Hope everyone enjoys the sun, naming ceremony, holiday or whatever else you're up to.

HollyHo · 10/04/2010 20:21

Evening all,
We had a lovely day. DD was an angel - it wasn't a long drive but still - no upsets. She looked very cute (of course - in my opinion). I am really going to have to be stricter with myself for taking photos. Again, I took more on my phone than on my proper camera, I hope that my Mum got more of her than I did. I have uploaded a photo just in case you want to look - sorry in advance that it needs rotating - it is fine on my Mac then once uploaded the site has flipped it.

DH had a lovely time being home tonight for bathtime - as it seems to be her favourite thing - we might be raising a little swimming champ here!

GoldenSnitch · 10/04/2010 20:57

Aw so cute. That's a lovely dress HollyHo.

I'm going to dress up Catherine to take her to my sister tomorrow I think. I spent so long with DS moaning about all the pretty girls clothes there were while boys got a rail of blue and brown at the back of the shop - so I'm determined to make the most of it now

Also going to see my fried now she's out of the crisis center. Not looking forward to it though as she is still really bad apparently. Was begging our other friend to take her home with her today as her bloody useless DH and sons are not helping at all. Not sure what I'll do if she asks to come back here. It's an hour and a half drive between our houses so it's not like I can pop over and I want to help her but I feel like I'm about at my limit at the moment.

Claire236 · 11/04/2010 09:35

She looks lovely HollyHo.

GS - good luck visiting your friend.

hendo77 · 11/04/2010 11:35

Holly - she's absolutely gorgeous!

GS how was your friend - hope she's feeling better?

Claire236 · 11/04/2010 11:38

Been thinking about the new thread name. How about We've found our fingers, we've found our toes, what happens next nobody knows.

hendo77 · 11/04/2010 19:04

I love it! Go for it...

Imogen has tonight discovered the fun of banging both hands into the bath water at the same time to make big splashes - v funny!

Hope everyone had a lovely sunny weekend.
