Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

on the night waking, mine was doing same based on wet nappy only, swapped to pampers stay dry n never looked back.

Last night from 11 till 8.30 am ........ man those nappies can hold wee!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/04/2010 18:21

Hello everyone.
Is anyones little ones rolling over yet? Im pretty sure Elizabeth is going to do it any day now bless her.

As for nappies we usually have huggies natural fit ones size 3 or 4 I cant remember which. When Jake was in nappies we used the Aldi ones, they were great about 4 quid for 58 nappies and not one leak ever!

legscrossed · 07/04/2010 18:24

also.......... dare i say it, for these occasions exclusively we dummy.

The winging is due to tiredness, the more they winge the worse it is, if you sooth them your essentially disturbing them.
Dummy in ............ gone

Debating taking ds2 to see the dr. He's not been himself for a few days & the last 2 days he's only been taking a few ozs of milk at a time before he starts screaming like he's in pain. He also seems to be teething as is constantly chewing anything he can get in his mouth. I've given him calpol the last few nights because he seems to be in pain but don't really want to keep giving him it when I'm not sure what's wrong with him. Could all his screaming & not feeding really just be teething? Confused & exhausted

sparklycheerymummy · 07/04/2010 20:43

Golly arent we all having good times, bad times, busy times. Ds is sorting his sleep out not as i have been doing some evil controled crying while dd is off school so we are not up early. i only left him for 1, 2 then 3 mins and he was back to sleep.... second night only twice, last night only once. He feeds like a trouper and is having small meals (though not 17 weeks till sat my doctor asked me a few questions then said crack on and give him some food)Ds def more settled now. I feel a weight has lifted. He has 2 ff and 3 bf a day and its working well!!!

Kingsroadie · 07/04/2010 21:11

Hi everyone.

Lee - so so srry to hear about DS - that is awful - poor him and poor you - both our babes in a cast (I know he is older but still your baby!). I hope he is feeling a bit better...

clare - also sorry to hear about DS2 - teething maybe as you say - or reflux getting worse?

P is now on two baby rice and fruit a day - she seesms to love it which is good! And hse has upped her milk intake too - v odd. Perhaps a growth spurt!

My bday tmrw and won't see my husband - seeing my mother during the day. He just told me (over the phone from work) that he pretty much forgot - well, couldn't leave the office until 3:30 then had a call scheduled for 4pm and dashed around looking for a little pressie (I bought a netbook as my bday present really) but couldn't find anything then ran to a newsagent for a card. I just got a bit upset as he has known it is my bday for AGES. And he had time to go for a run last week so perhaps he could have been a bit more organised and got me a nice card? I know he is working superard but just thought he might make a little effort esp as things have been a bit tough recently. he said he is getting me a present from persephone tmrw as he has a meeting in St James' and there are nice shops around there but I just felt a bit deflated - it isn't about the present AT ALL. Just the slight lack of thought. And then I feel bad cos he is working hard but I don't think I am completely unjustified? It's the thought that counts and I feel there was very little...sorry to moan AGAIN. Just finding it a bit tough at the mo...

Kingsroadie · 07/04/2010 21:31

Right. Have just pulled myself together and told myself to stop behaving like a spoilt brat. Am sorry about that last post - i am so lucky in so many ways and that was self - indulgent nonsense! I told my husband how I was feeling and he said he made it sound worse than it was and the shop was actually a card shop - is he mental? why did he make it sound like he just went to the nearest newsagent and bought the first card he saw? Men eh?

GoldenSnitch · 07/04/2010 22:23

Kings, with all you've been through in the past few weeks, I think you can be forgiven having a little moment

Happy birthday for tomorrow. I hope your DH manages to surprise you. Just remind him that he can order flowers from work and places like Interflora will deliver chocolates, balloons and teddies too

Kings, happy birthday!
You can be forgiven for the moan.
I was like it on mothers day. Its not the gift on its own I care about, but would appreciate some thought behind it. Like wrapping it and signing the tag, those little things mean something to me. But when I do complain I feel bad, because I have it so lucky compared to some people!

Elizabeth is trying to hold her own milk bottle now, its soo cute the way she grasps it in her little hands!!

GoldenSnitch · 08/04/2010 08:23

Happy Birthday to Kings,
Happy Birthday to Kings,
Happy Birthday Dear Kiii-ings,
Happy Birthday to Kings

Claire236 · 08/04/2010 09:36

Happy birthday kings

Had another crap night with ds2 not helped by dh also being up & down all night with an upset stomach. Just want to go to bed & let someone else deal with everything. Feel like the crappest mum ever. My poor boys.

Moosy · 08/04/2010 10:23

Claire, I was thinking about you yesterday when I was at the cranial osteopath with Fizzy (she has a stiff neck and a flat head!), have you thought of taking DS2 to see one? They're very good for refluxy babies and they help sort out any 'kinks' that babies have from being squished and born. Apparently everything is connected from the head to the diaphragm so treating the head can help relax the guts/neck/shoulders/diaphragm/head etc. It's worked on my 3: DD1 had it to stop her night terrors, DD2 had it for her reflux and now DD3 is having it for her neck/head.

hendo77 · 08/04/2010 10:33

Happy Birthday Kings!

Everyone has been busy during my holiday! Think I've just about caught up now. We'll need a new thread v soon at this rate.

Claire hope your DS2 is feeling better.

Lee sorry to hear about your DS as well, but I love the mobile phone idea for pain relief!

Hope its as sunny where you all are as it is here today.

LaDiDaDi · 08/04/2010 10:48

Happy Birthday Kings,
I hope you're having a lovely day - it's sunny here, hope it is where you are.

Your poor DS Lee. I really sorry to read about his leg, how old is he? Sounds like your nights are tough at the moment - i hope it eases soon.

Welcome back Hendo, how was your holiday, go anywhere nice?

Hope your DS is feeling a bit better too Claire.

ABF - no rolling here yet. DD definitely has found all extremities - has no problem holding her thighs to help when I am changing her and seems to like turning her head and looking behind her and over her shoulder when in the bath which isn't the best time to do it! They seem to be the starting points to rolling so once she gets them all together she'll be off!

No other news here - trying to keep myself busy and hands of the chocolate... haven't been buying any so that's easy - currently making a healthy soup for dinner and for DH when he gets home... I don't have scales but I think I feel a bit trimmer. Still got this naming ceremony to go to at the weekend. Managed to find a top yesterday which I don't feel hideous in and will be able to BF when necessary hopefully. DD is sorted - first time she'll be in a dress/tights etc. Glad DH got the day off to come with me - he'll be able to help with changing... I suspect tights don't make the process any easier!

hendo77 · 08/04/2010 19:20

Thanks Holly - we just went up to Scotland ( with the snow!), but the weather was pretty good except for a couple of days and so it was lovely. Plane journey wasn't too bad on the way there, but I think Imogen had blocked ears halfway back and she screamed like I was trying to murder her on the plane - it must have been bad as I tried to bf her, usually a surefire solution, but she was so hysterical my nipple just appeared to rattle around in her wide open screaming mouth. Luckily everyone on the plane was lovely to me and made me feel like it didn't matter at all.

Imogen is definitely looking like she wants to move and roll - she happily flips herself from her front onto her back and when on her playgym turns her head sort of backwards over her shoulder and kind of goes onto her side but hasn't quite worked out what to do with her legs at the same time. She has just discovered her thighs and feet and pulled a sock off today and then put it in her mouth. I don't think however she had any idea what she had done!!!

Have a good time at the naming ceremony - we had tights and skirt at a wedding and it wasn't any worse than trying to put on legging type trousers I found, mostly because they were probably a little big though...

GoldenSnitch · 08/04/2010 20:26

Newborn size 1 nappies are finally beginning to look a bit small on Catherine. Ordering her some Newborn size 2's now

She definitely trying to roll. She picks her legs up and gets onto her side easily but then her legs are in the way for getting onto her tummy. She's worked out lifting her bum and moving it sideways though so she's now very good at rotating while on her back. She still thinks putting weight on her legs is hilarious too but is at least trying now. She got her knees locked out at bathtime and was 'stood' naked in the bathroom. It looked so funny

legscrossed · 08/04/2010 22:01

Any tricks for getting calpol in LO, it smells sweet n fantastic but apparently not!
Phoebe is clawing her ear n crying.
Both me n DP had the ears from hell......n I ended up perforated n hearing loss.
I'm not looking forward to the inevitable.
Dont deal well with her pitiful pain, it kills me.

Theres pink (bloody sticky) stuff all over both of us, she just tongues it out. Its just me so difficult.

Docs tomorrow, I wonder if amoxycillin is still banana flavoured.

hendo77 · 08/04/2010 22:10

oh no, hope Phoebe gets better soon. I read somewhere to use the dropper that you get in the infacol bottles - wash it out and then use it for the calpol. Not sure if it will work as so sticky, but maybe worth a try if you have one handy...

anniebigpants · 08/04/2010 22:18

We use a syringe to get Calpol/Nurofen liquid into DS2, he takes it quite well this way.

Re babies rolling-DS2 has just started rolling from his back to his front, he can get right over, and can now move his arm from right underneath himself to steady himself. When hes lying on his back he keeps lifting his head and shoulders high off the ground, it looks like hes doing sit ups

GoldenSnitch · 08/04/2010 22:19

Any pharmacy should sell you a medicine syringe - helpful for night-time emergencies...

It was the only thing that ever worked for getting medicine into DS. Have only tried it with Catherine with Gripe Water - it worked but then she did seem to like the taste. As long as you go slow, you can squirt the medicine right to the back of their throat to hopefully get some swallowed before it gets pushed out.

Have heard of the Infacol dropper thing too.

Hope she feels better soon

sparklycheerymummy · 08/04/2010 22:36

syringe into her cheek rather than straight down x
