I thought so too.... but she'll have a way to justify it, no doubt. Or make me feel badly or selfish for putting my feelings out there when she is having such a hard time

50ftChristmasTree · 16/12/2009 13:48

Alas Star, I doubt it very much. Big snow tends to happen in January (or March one year!).

Myjob - I used to think that people who work in retail or the police/fire brigade/hospital had the worst deal of it over Christmas but it's crap for people like your lovely DH too (and his family obviously). Hope you can get enough time together over Christmas to make up for it.

we've now agreed to do dinner tomorrow eve, but I'm not holding my breath.
I had asked last week if she could collect kids from school today or tomorrow so I could attend one of two staff xmas parties (I can bring Q but won't have time to go get him and come back before it's over). So far, I'm not going to be able to go to the one today. And I'm totally doubting being able to go to tomorrow's either. No big deal I guess. Just annoying.

But the understanding is that I drive her dc when she has him. I only ask on a rare ocassion to have Q brought here... but I know it's a pain. Traffic getting out of here after school is a nightmare.

I know... I think she would say she gladly would if I needed to, but I don't dare risk it for something like a holiday party because then I'd get excited about going (like I did last week when she said she would do it ) and then if it's something like that, given history, I'm just likely to be disappointed.

It's ok, thanks so much for your support, though

I just hope dinner tomorrow is still on. I said I'd bring it there to make it easier. I have a feeling it will be cancelled But I'd rather know if it's on or not rather than wonder for hours on end in the evening then worry.

StarExpat · 16/12/2009 14:50

And i've just text to please let me know either way so I can plan my evening as well

I'm not being fair with my comments. Truly, I am the lucky one. Trust me on that. I need to learn to be less sensitive!!!

Star - I agree with Pistachio. I also think that although you probably are sensitive, some of the things you discuss, they way people treat you would upset anyone! I you feel someone is being unfair, trust your judgement and confront them about it. Don't doubt yourself and assume you're being over-sensitive about things.

Star you should listen to these wise women

aubergenie · 16/12/2009 20:28

I hope you get it sorted Star.

I've finished school (Sorry Star, I know you've got 2 more days to go)!!! And not a moment too soon - I've got a rotten cold and can hardly speak. We had a lovely day today though, making and painting salt dough decorations. The children absolutely loved it. Then we had a party this afternoon. It's so lovely to just relax with the children - we so rarely get the chance as it's usually rush, rush, rush.

Hurrah for some decent sleep Pistachio. You sounded like you were on the edge before. Just getting a few uninterrupted hours makes the world seem like a different place doesn't it.

We've started settling S with the childminder. I know he'll be fine because she's lovely, and I know we've been lucky to keep him with one of us for all this time but I can't help feeling really weird about it.

Oh, and dp has got some work!! Only a few days before Christmas, but it's something. Starts tomorrow.

Star - I may have been wrong! It sounds like it's going to be very snowy over the next couple of days! Whoop!

OP posts:
aubergenie · 17/12/2009 10:55

I really hope it doesn't snow too much. London always comes to a complete bloody standstill when it dies, and I'm sopposed to be taking S to the theatre in town tomorrow.

CSWS - when will you get results?

I placed an order yesterday morning for a coat and some other presents. Arrived this morning. And delivery was free! Fantastic service.

aubergenie · 17/12/2009 10:56

does, not dies.

Star, have you sorted your arrangements with your friend now?
