Happy New Year ladies.

I went out and I am still in bed

It is horrible to read of the things that we do to ourselves, especially with food.

50ft I would put money on the fact that you are happier in your life now than the bitch from school.

Pistachio, most schools offer a fruit snack at first break but the children can have something out of their lunch boxes as well.
I get moaned at because I refuse to put chocolate or crisps in the girls lunch. The school policy states quite clearly that no unhealthy snacks to be brought in but some mums obviously dont give a crap!

It has taken me a long time but I think I have finally learnt to accept myself. I have come to love myself as I am and realise that I cant change anything so no point ruining the rest of my life over the whole thing. I have a fairly healthy relationship with food. I like it so I eat it. I very rarely deny myself and if I over eat I walk a bit further for a week!

DD1 has made me a cup of tea in bed. It is bad. But I have to drink it or she will be hurt!!

happy new year all!! can't believe that our dc's are in their 2nd year already!

well i hope that your new years day is going better than mine. alex fell off the bed this morning and gave hime self a nose bleed. we have put his cot into a bed in preparation of moving him into bunkbeds later in the year with dd. we only have 2 bedrooms so he is still in our room atm.
and then i just found out that dc 3 is on the way i am very confused and shit scared, i had a little cry as well. prob due around september ish which will give me 3 under 4.

Hi all, happy new year! Congrats Heather! I haven't got long, Poppy is ill, she's been sick twice (food/ water) within 10 mins, no temp, no rashes, she's rubbing her eyes and is a bit lethargic, should I BF her to sleep early or keep her awake for a bit?

Report
aubergenie · 01/01/2010 18:15

Congratulations Heather!! Sorry to hear it's a bit of a shock (and sorry about the bras. How annoying!). It will be hard work, but you'll manange. What does your DH say?

Ronshar - I'm in pretty much the same place as you, body-wise. I can accept myself despite my wrinkles and saggy bits. It's funny, I look back at pictures of me in my 20's and think, bloody hell woman, what on earth were you worried about?! If only I'd had the confidence then!

We've been for a bracing walk on Hampstead Heath. So lovely up there. If we could live somewhere posh like that, I think I could happily stay in the Big Smoke. And they've got snow!

When can we give our LOs chopped nuts? I'm making a butternut squash and feta pie and it's supposed to have walnuts in. Don't suppose I should, should I?

I'd put to sleep early. But I'm probably wrong. Having said that, I'd also ring NHS direct. I'm a bit of a worrier, though.... I'm sure someone sensible with better parenting skills will come along shortly!

damn it. I'm really not doing so well... aubergenie - I've given Q crunchy peanut butter and today he ate a muffin that I made with lots of nuts and seeds in it and he ate it... He's still alive, though, so it cant be all wrong.

aubergenie · 01/01/2010 18:31

I'd put her to bed if she's tired HMM, and just keep a close eye on her in case she's sick again. But , I haven't really got a clue either.

Star - really? I think I'll chop them small and see what happens...

they can have nuts after 12 months, dd has been eating whole peanuts since she was 18 months and loves them, never once has she had a choking episode.

Dh is as shocked as me, but he has been making plans all day and looking at our finances to see if we can afford a bigger house. and he has agreed to the snip if the pregnancy 'takes' so to speak which is good. no more babies after this one!

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/01/2010 20:07

Official advice says 5 yrs for whole or chopped nuts, but dd has had a few whole ones already, and ds will get finely chopped ones as soon as I get round to making a veg crumble!

I would feed Poppy and put her to sleep if she's tired, and then make sure that I don't stay up as late as usual myself .

Congratulations Heather! My pregnancy is also from a one off unplanned event! And I'd only had 1 period since ds, and haven't stopped bf'ing either of mine yet, but dd does turn 4 in Feb, so I at least I will only have a few months before she goes to school full time. Dh is also planning a snip once we have had this one.

aubergenie · 01/01/2010 20:13

Thanks Heather. That's good news. For some reason, I'd got it into my head that they couldn't have pieces of nut until they were three.

Wow, so you might be moving as well? It's going to be a big year for you all!

I don't want to go back to work, either I know it's not as big of a deal but I want to stay home with Q longer. Only 4 weeks until he's home for 2 weeks again for my and DH's feb half terms But it seems like forever away!

Ok, I'm not going to worry over the nuts. I'll confess now, Q has had loads of stuff with chopped nuts in it . The crunchy peanut butter was an accidental buy but now we get it all the time because he really likes it. Especially if the item is cooked, like breads with nuts in them, they must get a bit softer? Not sure.

Wow heather, a move as well! We really want to move, too, but it's not happening until we get our home on the market. This stupid portfolio thing that you have to have for your home before selling it is a bit of a hurdle for us first... the HIP is it called? ugh.

we really need to move, 3 kids in a 2 bed house would kill me, i have no idea where to put them all! i also want a dining room (which we don't have here, only a living room and the kitchen) so we can have a play room for the kids. (and a cellar so i can lock them away for doing my head in )

Report
StarExpat · 01/01/2010 22:44

I can't imagine 3! I'm struggling to cope with 1 child in a 1 bed flat with only a living room and kitchen, no dining room, playroom, baby room... but he's happy
