CSWS, how are you feeling after your test? It sounds pretty unpleasant (the not eating mainly as I just can't cope with life on a truly empty stomach)

So, we are hosting a Xmas party for dd's ante-natal group. Originally we were a group of 7, but as 4 of us have had 2nd kids there will be 10 toddlers and 1 crawler in the house. Plus 7 mums of course - eeek! I don't think our house is really big enough. Tbh I think that short of Buckingham Palace, nowhere is likely to be big enough for our bunch of tearaways . I'm supposed to be cleaning and tidying everywhere today, but so far have just come on mn and will now have to go make lunch. .
Where's Star when you need her to come round and clean?

Felt fine after the test thanks Ekka. Results normally take 3-4 days to be sent to GP, so I'll give them a call next week to see how I fared. Am feeling reasonably optimistic though, as my finger prick test pre the real one scored 4, and I tended to get 4.5ish when I had GD before.

Yay for all that weight gain myjob. She'll still never catch up with ds though - he was 26lbs at 9 months (the last time I had him formally weighed)!!

star - do I understand correctly that you are giving up your opportunity to go to a staff party in order to go out to dinner with your friend (if she bothers to show) ? I would go to the party and just not pick up her kids!

pistachio - did you get trousers from rainbowbabies for ds? I got the size 1-2 and they are still way too long for ds! I'm wondering whether to tumble dry them just to shrink them a bit!

Off to look at a couple of cars this afternoon. Ideally wanting to get one that will seat all 3 kids across a single row, and thus still leave us a good amount of boot space behind.

50ftChristmasTree · 17/12/2009 15:37

Ouch ouch ouch. Oh Ronshar, why didn't I listen to you? Sinus pain back with a vengeance and now I ahve tooth ache on the same side. Been to the 'walking centre' and got my antibs, now I'm off to the dentist to cost dh loads of money get the tooth sorted. Wahhhhhhhh!

Will be back later hopefully not feeling so sorry for myself.

OP posts:
50ftChristmasTree · 17/12/2009 16:28

Hurrah, well sort of. The pain in my tooth is caused by my very badly infected sinus pressing down on the roots of my teeth! The dentist did an x-ray and my sinus was HUGE and full of gunk.

Right, going to catch up now and stop being self obsessed.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/12/2009 18:18

ronshar - could you fit 3 full carseats across the middle row of your car?

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/12/2009 18:19

Oh ouch 50ft. Is that why your dh was set for a day of misery?

50ftChristmasTree · 17/12/2009 18:39

No CSWS. He was set for a day of misery because he went out last night got stupidly drunk after promising me he wouldn't and then didn't roll in until 3am when I know full well the last train gets in at 1.30am. He was expecting me to make him pay but I decided it really wasn't worth the effort. It's Christmas after all. I just wish he could exercise some self control and not lie to me. If I hadn't been feeling ill I would have made him go shopping as punishment. When do you hear about your test results? How did the car window shopping go? I know that the new Renault Scenic Grande has Isofix on all the rear seats and then a further two seats right at the back should you need them.

Pistachio - I hope they get working soon. I haven't had any abs for about two years (so no resistance buildup) so hopefully they'll kick in quickly. Do you know how tall T is? He sounds like he's going to be the total opposite to your tiny dd! That's the way it should be, unlike my tiny ds and huge dd!

Myjob - Yay N!!! She is growing fast! She's only about a pound lighter than M now!

Ekka - Oh My Goodness! I just had a mild panic at the idea of having that many toddlers in my house! I think I would have to build a huge playpen and chuck them all in. You'll have to have a strict 'no sugar' rule or all hell could break loose!

Aubergenie - The travel service in this country is rubbish! It's not as if we haven't ever had snow before so why do they find it so hard to cope with? I love the snow but can imagine it being a pain when you have plans. I hope London doesn't get too much (but that Kent gets bloody tonnes!).

50ftChristmasTree · 17/12/2009 18:41

Oh I forgot to add, DH was woken up by the train guard poking him and telling him "the train terminates her mate". Which explains the 1.5 hour journey time for a 30 min journey.

StarExpat · 17/12/2009 19:37

what are you and S seeing tomorrow, aubergenie?

50ft I hope you're feeling better soon.

csws - I have a ford mondeo and it fits two booster seats and one baby seat (Q's fwd facing one). It worked with Q's infant rear facing one, too. Not sure about your car, though.

Ekka good luck today! That should be so fun!! I was working today, otherwise I would have gladly come to clean

pistachio - 2-4 years I always think Q is a big boy!

I've made all of my truffles for everyone at work. I hope it's not a snow day tomorrow or all that effort has been wasted!

StarExpat · 17/12/2009 19:39

lol to oversized baby!!

aubergenie · 17/12/2009 19:43

I love the snow too 50ft, but I just don't understand why everything grinds to a standstill! Ridiculous. They manage perfectly well in other countries but we're always so ill-equipped to deal with it. When it started to snow yesterday morning, the children were desperate to get outside and play in it, then we got a message to say that it was indoor play because it was too cold. I seem to remember it snowed much more when I was child and we'd all run outside and roll around in it.

We're going to see Egg and Spoon myjob. It's for 1-3 year olds and I've been looking forward to it for ages.

Hope those ABs kick in soon 50ft. I've only ever had a sinus infection once, and it was excruciating. See, you ignore Ronshar at your peril!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/12/2009 20:09

I think that dh and I would probably rather shoot ourselves than buy a ford mondeo star - sorry! I imagine that those are 2 ordinary booster seats rather than 2 high backed boosters aren't they?

We tried a mercedes GL today, which are f*ing enormous, and even that only just fit our 3 seats across it. It wasn't roomy enough to justify the extra expenditure in trading up from my R class. Sadly, having tried that, we are pretty sure that the 7 seater version of ours won't fit 3 across either. So now we are considering changing dh's instead (because we really do love my car), which is the older car anyway, and getting something less probably less classy, but hopefully still half decent for me and the kids. Then I can take my R class if I just have one or two of the dc with me, and take whatever else we get if we have all 3.
But there's a woefully short list of cars that we can even think of to look at which might be contenders.

So did the train terminate at the right stop 50ft, or had he gone too far and had to find a way back?

StarExpat · 17/12/2009 20:24

I would have said that a few years ago, too csws
But, alas, with little money and a baby, we needed a new car and this one was being sold by a family moving overseas at my school for just 1000 pounds and was all we could afford, so we had to take it.

My Dad had a similar jaw dropping fainting reaction about us owning an american car and a ford at that. oh well, c'est la vie.

StarExpat · 17/12/2009 20:25

one is a high back one is an ordinary booster. Both fit with the britax infant rear facing seat.

It did indeed stop at the right stop CSWS. Jammy git that DH is! The Citroen C4 Picasso is massive and quite nice inside. I think you're going to have to go away from the delicious luxury cars you normally opt for! What has Ronshar got?

Renault have the Scenic which is pretty small for a 7 seater or the Espace which is almost like a mini van! Renaults might not be a good idea for you as they tend to be unreliable (where you the one who told me that.....).

Most of the parents at my school drive either a Volvo XC90 or a landrover/range rover. When it's sunny, they drive a flashy convertible with family seating in the back. Many playdates...etc... they always manage to fit several kids in

50ftChristmasTree · 17/12/2009 20:55

Aubergenie - Are you watching? They are lucky lucky bastards!

OP posts:
ronshar · 17/12/2009 21:09

Ladies I am finally back on. What a week.
50ft. I have my glasses on the very tip of my nose and I am standing with my hands on my hips while tapping my foot. (At that pont the DDs normally leg it, fast)

Star please stand up for yourself. Rude behaviour is rude behaviour no matter who does it.

CSWS. The XC90 has an integral booster in the middle seat. However I dont think that three full seats will safetly fit in. What I would suggest is having one of the boot seats up for DD. (Can she do her own seat belt? I taught both DDs to do their belts up themselves from early.) They are easy to get in and out of and still leave a massive boot space. Even with both boot seats up I can still fit pushchair and bags in.

50ftChristmasTree · 17/12/2009 21:15

Ronshar - I will never ignore your advice again! I had shooting pains from my sinus and at one point I felt like taking a hammer to my teeth. I think that the 5/6 bouts I had in a row without abs must have resulted in one ocean of infected yuck! How were the concerts? How are the ears?

Miley was an infernal racket
Depeche Mode was bloody brilliant.
I am now fully outed as an old git.

aubergenie · 17/12/2009 21:21

Pistachio - We've got a 10 year old Focus complete with mismatched wing mirrors too!

50ft - Yes, I am but I wasn't sure whether to say anything in case anyone else hasn't seen it! Are we allowed to discuss it yet?
