Hi all, no time to do a proper name check as am exhausted after 3 truly dreadful nights' no sleep. H's sleeping is awful lately, but not in any kind of pattern... sometimes he's up every 30min in the evening but ok when I come to bed, other times he's fine until 3am and a nightmare after. No energy to do anything about it atm, weather-induced cabin fever has worn me down, just hoping it's a phase

ReeBee sorry you've had a bad week.

Belgina and pula happy birthdays!

babbling we've had baba a couple of times but it's mostly 'yaayaayaayaa', 'bbrrrrr' and 'jajajaja'.

Momino re the chest pain - a few yrs ago I had unexplained chest pain I thought was linked to stress. I knew it wasn't related to food and I wasn't short of breath or anything, but I went to see the GP as I was worried. GP listened to me very seriously, then said, 'Do you eat Chinese food? Do you ever get spare ribs?' Me [astonished, thinking OMG is there some awful heart-problem-inducing chemical in Chinese takeaways?] 'Why yes, they're DH's favourite' . Anyway, he explained that the ribs (the round end, hence the spare rib illustration) are connected to the sternum in the same way as other joints in the body and they can get sore/inflamed. He said it was probably caused by me sitting hunched up at work and that by thinking about my posture and consciously relaxing it should go - and it did. That was a bit of a long winded explanation, sorry (I'm just remembering how freaked out I was when he asked about Chinese takeaways! ) - but just wanted to mention it as a possibility.

Right, better head off to bed and see what H throws at me tonight .

Jael · 10/01/2010 22:43

Evening everyone.

We've moved J in with DD, it's very squishy for now, but will be ok for a couple of weeks, until toys etc have moved. Landlord didn't turn up, surprise, surprise he's now coming on Friday, so weve now had our damp, mould ridden disgusting room for over 2 months, it's vile in there, but I guess weve got to wait until Friday to see what the Landlord says. Pula I think you're right, we do need to take a trip to the CAB, DP had mentioned a rent reduction to the letting agency, and they were saying "We'll have to ask the Landlord" I don't really want to be wanting to ask for money from him, because that could make him think that were not good tenants and he could throw us out...but weve been paying for a 3 bed house, and were living in a 2 bed, we should at least get something back...

Weve got bugger all snow here, just icy really now on the pavements. DP's parents had between 15 and 18 inches, and I don't envy them!

Funny how you say babies don't say mama till later on, DD first said mama at 6 months, and baby J has been saying mama since 5 months It's his favourite word, and he uses it when he's crying in his carseat/cot etc and feels like he's been abadoned he'll just babble mamamamama over and over until I get him. He says dada and baba too
He blows raspberries and kisses, if you ask him to blow you a kiss he will, he's just learnt it and it's so so cute J can't clap yet, but he does wave bye bye

Hope my babies sleep ok, I have a feeling DD is going to talk to J and get up super early tomorrow, we shall see lol

Evening all. I'm watching the Glasto 2009 round-up that was on over Christmas, and wondering whether to take the DCs in 2011... but I'm sure I'll wimp out of it. I'd take the caravan though !

Fi well done for staying awake the whole day, and hope you get some decent rest tonight

Glad you had a lovely birthday today pula and hope you are enjoying the vino

Hello grumps glad you had a nice night out also

Momi Like Spangle I had a rib problem that scared the living daylights out of me as I was convinced that I had a heart problem. But I still think it's worth having it checked out

Llare I think you should go to the seminar. It will probably be one of those things that you are glad you made the effort, and you'll meet lots of like minded people too, hopefully

Reebee what a shocker about work. I hope it all works out for you.

I really hope that the snow melts so I can get to work without problems tomorrow. I work in a city centre (well, fake city centre-ish) and parking is a nightmare, but the council don't grit and close some car parks when it is snowing so it is a nightmare to park. How boring am I, bleating on about parking ?! [hmm}

Mominohoho · 10/01/2010 22:48

Belgian, spangle, and anyone else needing better nights, hope LO's sleep well tonight.

spangle, like the chinese takeaway reference . it could be related, i've got lots of neck pain from sleeping weirdly on 3 pillows and from tensing my neck and shoulder muscles. also pushing the heavy double buggy must put a bit of strain on the chest.

could be anything, couldn't it?

i'm going to try to relax and do some breathing exercises (3, 2, 1.... relaxxxx). have been thinking about this far too much lately which hasn't helped.

H has woken up and is wimpering. hope she goes back to sleep! good night all.

Mominohoho · 10/01/2010 22:50

xposted with tummum and jael... hi!

tummum, hope you get to work ok tomorrow.

Tummum · 10/01/2010 23:10

Momi I got so stressed at the GP about my pain, I insisted on getting an ECG , which, funnily enough, was clear. I'm sure the GP just gave in because I was making a fuss. And the pain went about 24 hours later

Mominohoho · 11/01/2010 06:51

good morning. yawn.

could I join the club of mums with rubbish sleepers? sure my 8 month old sleeps wonderfully but the older 2 make certain that both me and DH get up at least 3x each in the night. going on for months and I'm sick of this.

am very irritated by another broken night's sleep. anyone else want to join in the rant?

febes · 11/01/2010 08:24

Morning!!

We had a pretty rubbish night too Momi. R didn't really nap yesterday and DD has dropped her nap so they were both knackered so we put them to bed just after 6pm. R woke at 7.30 I'm sure he sees the first bit of the evening as a nap as he was then awake for 2 hours. He then woke at 1.30 coughing and crying and he woke up DD so I took him into bed and feed him and DH went into DD and slept in her bed as she takes ages to get back to sleep. He came back into our room at 5 and I feed R again. At 6.30 DD woke for the day but R is still upstairs in our bed.

I'm wondering if I should ring up and get a GP appointment as his cold is not getting any better. He is really phlemmy (sp?) so it could be a chest infection. He has also had diahorea for the past week.

Momi I had a strained rib muscle when I was PG and it is so painful and did feel like I imagined a heart attack to feel.

Spangle I bet H is teething. It might take a while to see any teeth come through but it sounds like what my DCs do before the appearance of some nasty teeth.

Belgina R had 5 teeth now too. I am finding BFing a bit painful at times especially when R latches and sucks so hard to get my let down as he is so impaient. It only takes a few seconds but he is a hungry boy. He also give me a wee nip every now again again but only really on the days that the teeth are hurting him.

Fi hope you got some sleep last night.

Pula Happy birthday for yesterday. My internet connection was on and off yesterday due to the weather I think so I couldn't get on to wish you a happy one.

Hi everyone else

And darts.......really......

Loobylou36 · 11/01/2010 09:22

morning all

haven't been on for a while - must try to catch up later

it's snowing here today again and our road in still icy so difficult to get the car out. Due at the hospital later today to speak to the docs about mum so think we'll be walking.

Due to go for my colposcopy tomorrow but my aunt who was going to have M is snowed in in Malvern. DH said if I was desperate he'd TRY and get a couple of hrs off work .

However this morning I've had some brown spotting so think this might be my period returning M has been tailing off on her feeds a bit so guess it was only a matter of time .

Will have to ring the hospital and reschedule my colposcopy again.

Loobylou36 · 11/01/2010 09:40

have rung the hospital and the consultant is happy to do the procedure despite spotting.

Now just waiting to hear if DH has bothered to get the time off to come with me

febes · 11/01/2010 09:44

Looby I got my periods back at 7 months with DD but no sign yet as R is still having 5+ feeds. Even more for the last week as he has a cold and has been off solids a bit. Tell your DH that you NEED him to look after M tomorrow between x and x hours. .

belgina · 11/01/2010 09:51

febes The feeds mainly hurt at the end when she's been sucking for a while. I think it's because the longer she's feeding the harder she suckles and the further her teeth dig in. At the end of a feed she also gets restless and starts to wriggle and shake her head, which I suppose also causes teeth to rub.

looby Welcome back. about your period returning. And re your DH. It's him who's been giving you a hard time about sex and things, so he should be happy to help out so the drs can find out what's the matter!

spangle Lol at the rib story. I'd have thought the same thing!

momi The rib theory sounds plausible. Pushing a double buggy through the snow must also make you use muscles you didn't even know you had!

Right, DH is back from work and pulling faces about me being on here, so beter go.

Loobylou36 · 11/01/2010 10:19

DH just rang - he is taking time off tomorrow to come with me to the hospital so he can look after M and drive me home.

Right better get M dressed, her hair's doing a bit of a jedward this morning

HeadlessLadyH · 11/01/2010 10:28

Morning morning morning.

Blimey, you've all been chatty over the weekend! Taken me ages to catch up. OUr computer had a mild strop on Friday afternoon and decided he would not allow us to use him. DH managed to talk him round yesterday and normal service has now resumed. I was too tired and engrossed in Dancing on ice to come on yesterday evening.

pula and belgina happy belated birthdays to you both. Hope you both had lovely days.

fi hope your nights have improved since your reaallllllyyyy bad one. febes spangle and momi likewise. I will join your bad sleeping club too. WHEN is it going to get any better? Both ours up last night. DS1 at 2am not able to get back to sleep and DH ended up reading him stories. I had to wake him at 7.30am as he's got to go to school now. R up twice. We really have got to tackle this. I keep saying it. Have half hearted attempts to CC on the odd night. But have to sort it out before I go back to work.

Our snow has almost all gone now . It was raining last night a bit and is a mix of snow/sleet/rain this morning.

runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 11:07

Morning ladies,
Hope all had a nice weekend. We had a busy one getting various chores done and visiting some friends. Oh and I actually managed to watch a whole film on Sat night with no interruptions - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - it was fab but I cried a lot!

grumpy your night out sounds good but the fry up even better

babbling A doing the same as pula's S in making lots of vowel sounds and blowing raspberries. We sometimes get a throaty growl which I'm sure much hurt!

llare hope the course was good. My DH is a web designer, loves his job so much he often works on his own websites in his spare time

pula hope you had a good birthday yesterday and belgina think I missed yours too didn't I? Hope it was a good 'un

Fi hope you had a better night last night

momi do go to the doc's if just for reassurance

A has got another tooth through, at the bottom. She's been a bit grumpy with it but also had her swine flu jab on Sat morning so its difficult to know which had been bothering her more.

Annoyed I missed the darts last night, its a family tradition to watch it as my brother and his mates go to the finals every year in fancy dress so we spend most of our time trying to spot them in the background Was busy writing very belated Christmas thankyou cards

reg hope the seranading was good I love a bit of guitar hero - was particularly funny when I was pg as I had to hold the guitar very strangely! DH had the Metallica version for Christmas so I have been treated to a medley of their greatest hits for the last couple of weeks - good thing I like a bit of rock

Right best go and see if I can contact work. Emailed my head of department last week to see if everything was ok and sort out some time to go in and have a catch up meeting but haven't had a reply yet

Am liking the a bit much today

runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 11:22

missed a whole page of posts!

spangle hope you had a better night last night. I would suspect teething too. Have found a bit of bonjela just before bedtime feed has worked a treat for A.

Jael am for you at your landlord. I would push the letting agency to get him round and reduce your rent. It is their job to be the liason between you and the landlord otherwise what is the landlord paying them for?

Sorry to momi and febes about your rubbish nights. Hope you have easy days in comparison.

tum will be dead if you do do Glastonbury. Its the one festival I've not been to and would love to go but DH isn't keen, partly the distance and partly because the last festival we went to was Reading and we were surrounded by absolute twunts in the campsite so he's been put off. We are thinking of going to a smaller one this year tho - probably Nozstock which is near Worcester. He went there for his stag do and apparently it was brilliant as its very small and also very family friendly.

oooh, exciting just got a big box of 9-12 month clothes I won on ebay delivered. They are fab

runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 11:24

Sorry, missed you loobs hope your DH helps out. Still no periods here and I finally finished bf yesterday (had been on one feed a day for about a week and A totally disinterested).

HeadlessLadyH · 11/01/2010 11:42

Oops. Sorry I missed your posts looby whilst I was doing mine! Hope your procedure goes well for you.

And also meant to add flip, really glad you have sorted something for your counselling. Was quite worried that you would miss it.

Must have missed tums mention of Glastonbury too. Is that with or without kids? A friend of mine is going with her DH , and 2 kids who will be 18 months and 3 1/2 at that point. I can't help thinking she is mad/brave/wildly optimistic/fantastic for even contemplating it!!!

running bet your get your period in 4 weeks! But hope you are ok about finishing BF. I know it can be a bit sad for some.

R is currently sort of crawling around. Its a mix of him rolling and turning himself around in the crawl position but he has managed to get from one side of the lounge to the other and is currently playing with my shoes. All other toys are being ignored.

belgina · 11/01/2010 11:54

at the mention of all those summer festivals. I've never been to one in my life and I've always felt that I really missed something there. DH wont go, he's just not into music etc... Maybe we need to do a summer festival meet one day so I can tag along without DH

running Understand that you feel about stopping BF. But at least it's been a natural gradual stop, which is always better IMO. Oh and how exciting about the clothes arriving. I love getting parcels (had some lovely furry cloth nappies through on sat )

looby Great news that your DH will help out. I hope the colposcopy will shed some light on what's happening.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 11/01/2010 13:22

Only 1 word forrit...........magic darts!

Please may I join the rubbish sleepers gang (can I be the fat gobby lass in the gang?), I've had 1 decent night about 3 nights ago and that's it. She was nuzzling and whimpering a lot last night, but I think it was because I'd left her the night before . She's still bfing a lot, even though she's eating quite a bit of slop, glop and gloop too. She has her 2 top teeth through now, she's getting quite a dazzling smile!

loobs Hope the coloscopy colposcopy thing goes ok.

My mum decided to casually throw into conversation the other day that my dad had come out of hospital on Christmas Eve, having had prostate cancer (my parents are divorced). Still upset and shocked and haven't been able to get hold of my dad to talk to him , which is typical of him.

Anyway, please keep the noise down, as S is actually asleep at the moment (momi stop that high-pitched whining please and spangle, stop worrying that spare rib).

Oh noises, we get vavavavavavava bababababababa akakakakakakakak (like a machine gun, my favourite).

Oh oh and accents, DD1 and 2 lost their Teesside accents in France (I have a mild, slight Northern accent, dependent on who I'm talking too - I think I developed a slight Ohio accent talking to momi), it took approximately 10 minutes for their accents to return.

Oooooh time for a cup of tea......

Mominohoho · 11/01/2010 14:22

ok, I actually have about 10 min and should be hoovering, emptying diswasher, changing laundry, making this evening's tea, etc etc but all I want to do is rest and catch up on MN.

back later after review. hope everyone is having a good day.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 11/01/2010 14:37

S slept for 5 mins. She is currently velcroed to me.

Punishment for going out and 'drinkin' beer and gettin' droooooonk' as DD2 noted.

Mominohoho · 11/01/2010 14:39

thanks for the help grumps.
love the 'droooonk' .

Mominohoho · 11/01/2010 14:41

still catching up (with interruptions from DD1&2 who refuse to adhere to Quiet Time) but just wanted to say quickly, grumpy, so sorry about your Dad. Hope they've caught it early, he's ok, and hope you get to talk to him soon.

Mominohoho · 11/01/2010 14:50

looby, glad your DH can help tomorrow, that's a relief.

Febes, sorry for your rubbish night and hope R is better soon.

ladyH and grumps, so sorry we have to accept you into our Rubbish Sleeping Club. but hey ho, the more the merrier.

speaking of joining, running, I may join you in the quitting BF club. H is becoming less interested and her feeds are short and she's always interested in something else. I may change the 230/330pm feed from next week.

belgina, I want to go to a festival as well but it just hasn't been the right time. I'll meet up with you somewhere. anywhere. where?

I've actually been on here longer than 10 min so should go. H will be awake any moment and I've got to clear the table from lunch. oh, the exciting life I lead....
