Hi!

Momi - I should be doing something more productive too as O is asleep. I've hung up all DH's shirts in preparation for ironing and put another load of washing on (it doesn't stop does it?!)

Taking a moment to myself whilst he's asleep as we had an awful night. I was in tears at midnight wondering what on earth I was doing wrong.
However, now he's asleep in his cot and he woke up after half an hour, whinged for 15 mins and went back to sleep

Grumpy - lol at drooonk
at your dad. Your mum only just thought to mention it??! Is he like my dad and doesn't like talking on the phone?

Running - I'm starting to wonder about how long to continue BFing. I really want to but with O going to nursery next month, I don't think I'll be able to express enough for a supply for nursery.
Has anyone started using ready made cartons for when they would have used EBM? Does this have huge impact on supply?

Looby - glad your DH is helping out

Headless - O ignores his toys in favour of cables, fireplace or shoes

snow - still got quite a few inches here all over the garden and our road. I've not been out in the car and meant to be at Jo Jingles tomorrow. Can't decide whether to go or not... Had some NCT friends over this morning and one of them texted me to say she had problems pulling away in my road and then slid down it.

O still asleep!!

and before I go... our new thread title (needed soon!) must have reference to sleepless nights/babies/toddlers something along that subject. don't you think?

belgina · 11/01/2010 16:04

grumpy So sorry to hear about your dad's cancer. That he hasn't told you himself yet though.

momi I was thinking just the same. "Come and join the May 09 Rubbish Sleep Club" or something similar would be an excellent title. What festival? Don't know

stopping bf The plan is to just carry on and let C self wean. That's what happened with dc1&2 too. With dd1 I worked full time, she refused bottles or any other type of milk and survived on solids during the day and made up with bf mornings and evenings (she slept through, so clearly that arangement was fine with her)

I've had a very unproductive day so far. I managed a trip to the p/o, delivered the dcs packet lunches and I managed to fetch the iron, but haven't done anything with it. I spent an hour lying with C to keep her napping and that's that really. Now the dcs are back and I'm about to start preparing dinner, so I have a feeling the iron will stay where it is for quite a while. I could have been more productive if I'd stayed away from the computer today, but I didn't. Hmm, maybe I can call it delayed birthday laziness

Jael · 11/01/2010 16:29

Afternoon XX

The DC's 1st night together was semi sucessful J woke for an unusual 3am feed, which he never does, I'm sure he probably was just a little unsure of where he was and needed cuddling etc, but DP fed him, I can't complain, DP has done his 7am feed for the last week and a half! All in preperation for me going it alone somwhat in 2 weeks, DP is going in hospital for an operation, and I am going to be alone with the children for up to 3 weeks

Can someone please tell me I'm being silly...DD, has just turned 4, and has come home from nursery with a note to say it's their nursery disco tomorrow, and I'm a little unsure of her going she's never been to a party or anything, and she'll b there for 1 hr and 1/2 6pm til 7:30pm, I'm abit apprehensive, and I don't know why...

Also, weve put a monitor in their room as weve got quite a long, thin hallway upstairs, and we can't always hear when DD calls us, so have put a monitor in, has everyone else got a monitor in their LO's rooms? I could literally hear everything baby J did ALL night last night, I think it may make me worry more about him being down the hall...

Jael XX

runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 16:56

Afternoon,
was just popping on while tea is cooking and A is happily looking at herself in the mirror.

ses re cartons - that's what I first used when first started mix feeding A. I've done it v slowly since 4.5months, just dropping one feed at a time, usually with 2 week gaps between each one until I was only feeding her at night which I've been doing for about a month now. I did quite a lot of reading around the subject and this seemed to be the best way to do it without your supply suddenly dropping. The only reason I've stopped completely is that she has started sleeping through and has been uninterested in feeding from me first thing in the morning.

got to go, sorry can't namecheck everyone else but wanted to reply to that before I forgot. Will try to get back on later when DH is rocking out on the wii

HeadlessLadyH · 11/01/2010 19:12

grumpy sorry to hear about your pa. Hope they have caught it in time.

momi I am exactly the same with what to do when R is napping. Thats why the laundry is still piled up in the utility room and the oven not even on yet for supper.

jael Your DD will have a great time. They love dancing and stuff at 4 and I assume the staff and you will be there? Its quite an odd thing to do though, I have to admit. Never heard of a nursery doing this and at 6pm. That would be my only worry - the timing of it, but messing up the bedtime routine doesn't hurt.

running set up a web cam and let us have a look at your DH rocking out!!!

HeadlessLadyH · 11/01/2010 19:14

Messing up the bedtime routine once in a while doesn't hurt

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 11/01/2010 19:32

I'm sooooo jealous

And I did indeed wear the above outfit many times in my yoof.

runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 19:33

grumpy so sorry, meant to say hope your pa is ok.

headless lol, he would be soooooo embarrassed

Jael I'd let her go for it, sounds like fun. All the best for you and your DH too with his op.

pulapula · 11/01/2010 19:34

jael- I was going to say the same as headless - it seems quite late to do a disco for such little ones. Depends what time your DD usually goes to bed i suppose. My DD went to her school disco in December when she was nearly 5, and that was 5.30-7pm when she usually goes to bed at 7. I was a bit anxious about it, but there were some parents and teachers there to keep an eye on things.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 11/01/2010 19:53

I think my dad's ok, my family have a tendency to keep schtum about illness. We're also really bobbins at keeping in very regular contact. I'll keep trying him.....

Oh luxury - a hot, scented bath awaits. S is just grizzling at DH, I'm going to shut the door and read (going to read that new Dan Brown pile of twaddle , loved reading the others in the bath).

'May '09 - The Sleepless Babies Club - VIP passes and cut-price annual membership available' or something similar (and a lot more succinct!!!!!)?

runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 20:02
runningmonkey · 11/01/2010 20:03

Sorry x posts again I just don't type fast enough.

Glad he's ok grumps

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 11/01/2010 21:24

Evening all!

Waaaaay to much to namecheck, sorry I'm lazy. Have a hug if you want one, and/or a piece of cake - the chocolate-banana loaf was yummy. Happy birthday if it's relevant!

DH is back, you'd think life would be better, wouldn't you? But no, DD1 has been a PITA ever since he got back. She went to the childminder today, and even the CM commented on how 'spirited' (ha ha) DD1 was today. Anyway, she asleep now, fingers crossed she'll be better tomorrow.

DH was a PITA too - almost as soon as the girls were asleep last night he was pestering me for a bit of action too [rollseyes]. No danger tonight though, the jetlag has caught up with him!

belgina · 11/01/2010 21:35

jael Our school had a disco also nursery and reception were also invited. Parents of the little ones had the option to stay or go. I stayed and just as well, because an hour in dd1 wanted to go home because she felt sick from eating too many sweets Agree with the missing normal bedtime routine every so often being OK. You can easily go back to it the next day. We haven't got a monitor in our bedroom, just downstairs. Our dcs have always just climbed out of bed and into ours when there was a problem. Good luck with the op (for your DH)

flippin My ds used to play up when dh came home after a while away. I think it was an excitement mixed with attention seeking thing. Maybe dd1 is going through a similar spell?

grumpy Is the new Dan Brown any good? I find all his books a bit of the same.

Tummum · 11/01/2010 22:00

Helloooooo. I am a happy bunny. Been doing the Slimfast diet because I got fed up at being the size of an elephant, and I lost 6 lbs this week. So I am slightly less elephantlike but lots and lots and lots more poundage to go. You eat bugger all mind !

Loobylou36 · 12/01/2010 08:37

morning all

well done tummum on losing 6lb slimfast I've got to do something about my flab but we're still getting thro the xmas chocs

might have to put the rest of the chocs in a bag and take them to mum in hospital.

Have been trying to get out more with the buggy but it hasn't happened. Mind you today I've got to walk to the nursery this morning leave M for an hour then walk home for lunch and then walk into town for my hospital appt this afternoon so I'll get some exercise today.

llareggub · 12/01/2010 09:16

I'm such an idiot. Got all dressed up for my course, childcare sorted, checked email for directions.....to find that it isn't today, it's on Thursday.

How will I ever go back to work?

Will come later and say hello properly. Off to apologise to the in-laws again.

runningmonkey · 12/01/2010 09:32

Morning all,

Well done tum I've never managed to stick to slimfast as I'm a grazer but I'm inspired to give it another go based on your fantastic result! WEll done again!

loobs sounds like a busy day ahead. Is it M's first day in nursery today? If so hope it goes well

llare oops! At least you haven't missed it though

Talking of books - Mum bought me the twilight books for Christmas. I love vampire stories but am on book three and still not sure if I like them or not They are really easy to read but I just can't see why everyone thinks the Edward character is so gorgeous. Seems a bit creepy and controlling to me

Right swimming today am hoping A has a decent sleep this morning since she was up about 4.30 doing a huge poo and has only just gone back to sleep.

cherrytom · 12/01/2010 10:48

hi all,
running are you a true blood fan? I loved the tv show and am enjoying working my way through the books- they are enjoyable nonsense full of vamps and werewolves and the like

tummum amazing weightloss- well done!

llaregub you have made me laugh as thats just the sort of thing I do! Bet you are feeling superannoyed though- you will be able to see the funny side soon I hope and you have a free day today you didn't think you had!

I found out yesterday that I was successful in my job interview- I'm now officially a part-timer and a grade higher than I was. The job is closer to home too and is in an area I enjoy so I can almost look forward to going back to work

cherrytom · 12/01/2010 11:05

grumpy hope your dad is ok and that you've managed to get hold of him.

so... PVC trousers?

pulapula · 12/01/2010 12:34

cherrytom- congrats on your new job. Very impressive.

Just had 4 mums with 6 babies and toddlers round for coffee and cake. I have now put S down so it seems so quiet now . Still need to tidy away all the toys though but thought i'd have a rest first.

Well S did very well last night- a feed at 10.30, and then slept til 5.30. It took him a feed and a cuddle to get him back to sleep and next thing we all knew it was 8am . And we still managed to get DS1 to nursery at 8.40 and DD to school just before the bell at 8.50 [phew how did we manage that emoticon]. Poor S didn't get breakfast or dressed until after we got back and i didn't have a shower or breakfast either.

belgina · 12/01/2010 14:43

Afternoon everyone.

I finally managed to do my ironing

pula Sounds like a busy morning. I can imagine it seeming so quiet after all those toddlers and babies left. Oddly enough I always seem to get to school earlier if I overslept. I presume I'm just more efficient under pressure

cherry A big congrats on your new job. It must be so exciting! And it seems like a better job all round.

llare LOL, it's the kind of thing I can see myself doing (erm sort of have done, see last week's 'inset day')

I managed to give C's last milk feed via a bottle. The bottle dream feeds have worked to get her to take it during the day I think. If I ever have another baby I think that'll be a strategy I'll try again! I can now leave C with a babysitter/ap without worrying. My ap search isn't going too well I'm afraid. I keep sending out our family's profile and they all come back negative. No one likes us I'll keep going, someone must think our family is worth a go in the end

We had an OK night. The 1st half was good, but after 2-3 o'clock I kept sort of half waking due to her stirring and then put her to the boob in a half asleep state only for her to want comfort and so I kept putting her on and she kept dropping off and coming off untill I finally woke up enough to think it through a bit more and just give her a cuddle instead of boob.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 12/01/2010 15:37

cherrytom congratulations, you clever lady . And yes, pvc trousers............I was young, thin (lived on coffee and cigarettes), blonde and, well let's face it, daft .

pula What a busy morning! I hope you enjoyed your well-deserved rest!

belgina snap to wanting cuddles not feeds during the night - I was doing this with S (and she bit me a few times). And good luck with the AP, I can't believe you haven't found anyone!

Who asked about Dan Brown? It is a crap book and exactly like his others, but I like reading easy stuff in the bath (I also read Terry Pratchett or Lindsey Davies in the bath, easy, easy reads). And Twilight, I bought these for DD1 as she loves the films, but she's struggling to get into them. I think edward's an arse tbh

belgina · 12/01/2010 16:29

grumpy pvc trousers! Though if I remember rightly I wore some skinny satin ones (?back in fashion) and some equally skinny navy white and red check ones. Don't know what I was thinking when I bought those. They were my favourite for ages too

I wanted to know about the Dan Brown book. I was just a bit bored with the same old same old formula and not sure whether I'd buy it. I personally love reading easy stuff. DH knows I like my crime rubbish as he calls it so that's his default I don't know what to get you present for me.

Got a baby asleep on my back and a pie in the oven, now I'm thinking about making a cake for afters too. Shall I?
