Oh yes, a mojito please! I've never been on a brand spanking new thread so early before

llareggub · 01/12/2009 21:56

Woo-hoo!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 22:00

Lovely new thread.

Lets start by putting up some tinsel and a few fairy lights...get in the festive spirit! Anyone got a spare tree?

Mince pie anyone? And can I have a margarita please? Thanks.

essenceofSES · 01/12/2009 22:03

Phew! Glad it worked!

LADIES [gert runs in waving like a mad 'un], just dropping in to say Helloooooooooooo, it's been such a long time. And I find you here on a lovely new thread, so I don't feel so guilty about not reading all previous 40 pages of previous thread, I can charmingly say, 'ooooh I've caught up with this thread'!.

I hope you're all very well and enjoying the joys of weaning. Am still finding weetabix and banana about the kitchen from a bowl flung across the room the other morning (by E, not me, in a fit of excitement rather than anger).

We're very well here at Gert Hall, things are pretty much the same as last time I stopped by. E is completely bonkers, laughs a lot, shouts a lot and is just generally a laid back chatty baby. She's still not sleeping through the night, but we're experimenting with formula dream feeds currently. I've been in touch with work and agreed my return to work date, E booked into nursery, so we'll start settling in in March. We've put Gert Hall on the market and we're looking for a new bigger Gert Hall. Not much else to report really. Very much looking forward to Christmas and very much looking forward to having DH at home for 2 weeks (and am sure I'll be looking forward to him going back to work after those 2 weeks!)

Anyway if I don't find time to drop in again soon Merry Christmas to you all and your babies and families! xx

Gert2a · 01/12/2009 22:10

Oh yes, and I'll have a baileys over ice to celebrate the new thread with you! Chink.

Parumpumpumtumm · 01/12/2009 22:14

Galliano hot shot here please (large shot glass with layered Galliano, hot black coffee and cream. Yum)

Lovely new thread, thanks Ses Belgia 1st December = start of Christmasness IMO. I'm really looking fwd to seeing your Christmas name. So glad about the brilliant news about your GM.

Parumpumpumtumm · 01/12/2009 22:15

X post, hi Gert2a great to see you

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 22:15

ses - have you got a playpen to put the babies tree in? The crawlers will trash it in seconds.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 22:17

Hello Gert! Long time no see.

Looking forward to Christmas too, DH has two weeks off and we're going to see my parents for some of it, then away with friends for New Year!

TAADAAA!!! Whadyathink?

Hi gert I've been wondering how you're doing. Glad you're all doing OK

Haha, the playpen for the xmas tree reminds me that it'll be the last xmas in a while where I can have decorations until floor level, unless C learns to roll/crawl in the next 3 weeks.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 22:33

jinglebelgina - loving the name!

Sloe gin sounds good, don't mind if I do.

grumpy - I was brought up on homemade lentilly food, and no chocolate advent calendars, and swore that I would never be like my mum. We really really need a [rollseyes] emoticon. A will have to do.

Jinglebelgina · 01/12/2009 22:46

Lol, flippin. Funny how so many of us turn into our mums. The only thing is that DH has discovered some of the things I grew up with as an adult and he is a bit preachy sometimes. As a result I've started eating more unhealthily etc... a bit like a rebelling teenager really

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 22:55

IKWYM about the rebelling teenager...I still feel (a tiny tiny little bit) naughty if I eat three biscuits (ok, I admit it, that is a lot!) - we were only ever allowed two at a time when I was growing up!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 01/12/2009 22:58

Right, I'm off. Based on previous form A will wake up in about two minutes requiring boob. See you tomorrow!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 01/12/2009 23:30

G finally asleep again... and i've missed the party

belgina so delighted to hear the good news about your gm... was thinking of you over the last few days... will she move into the place that her friends are in that she went to a while ago?

febes happy birthday for tomorrow

detsy · 01/12/2009 23:44

Oh llare you're mking me feel a lot better about nonsterilisation and tap water... Seems sto be little point when my 2 seem to share anything and everything that could go into a mouth - fingers, dummies, spoons, food and worse things beside

I still do the bottles as and when I can but if there is a backlog and a screaming boy then I just wash one in hot water. Same goes for the water - though I find that a bit easier to keep on top of with the 2 kettle system!

AFAIK - dairy is fine from 6 months and cows milk is ok in food, but apparently cereals and milk drinks should be BM or formula.

I'm so much more relaxed about the weaning this time - Arch had his hands stuffed into a Rolo desert tonight and thought it was fabulous - can;t beat a few e numbers can you??? And he much preferred that to the popeye pasta i had lovingly prepared for him

Anyone thinking of having another yet then...????

Hello grumps

detsy · 01/12/2009 23:46

And of course everyone else too
Struggling to keep up with the names but then hardly ever on here. Promised I'd be in bed the same time as the kids 2 nite and its not happened so far...
Guess u lot all sensibly tucked up now anyway -sob sob

detsy · 01/12/2009 23:49

So why is it that I'm shattered from 6am to about 830pm and then I can't go to bed?? Anyone know??

Good news BTW about little arms and Grandmas - glad all the tnesion is over for you both.

Back to work properly soon - yuksville

Momino · 02/12/2009 00:01

detsy, I can't get to bed either. good to see you!

belgian, excellent news about your grandmother.

febes, what a time you've had with the rash but glad you know what it is and what do do about it.

tap water - boil the kettle? I don't really have the time. also, I usually forget to sterilise.

emergency tea, fish fingers, beans or pasta with tomato, tuna, capers and black olives - prob too much salt with the capers and olives but dd's love it.

gert, good to see you back!

i have to go back to catch up on the rest. may be asleep before then...

Momino · 02/12/2009 00:03

oh, and ses, thanks for the thread!

love the new christmas names, Belgian, Fi, Tum, etc.

febes, happy birthday for tomorrow!

Momino · 02/12/2009 00:05

oh, we got the piano today from Freecycle! dd1&2 were so excited and sat very civilised (for a 3 and 2 yr old) on the bench plucking out a tune they supposed was twinkle twinkle .
