Oh Trump

You are so brave and amazing for giving it a go. I think I would be made it about a week in another country with DC and no DH.

When are you coming back??

muddleddaizy · 25/11/2009 20:33

Belgian Sorry to hear about your Grandma.
Hope you can visit. Re the sock ons - guess who's lo managed to get them off in about 15mins flat!!?

Pula glad there's someone with a diet like mine! I'm really bad with the weaning this time. I never know if I'm giving enough and I haven't got round to putting protein in yet, although ds2 did enjoy his roast on Sunday!

Looks like we are going to have to be more careful what we let ds1 watch on tv. Poor thing was almost in tears tonight at bedtime cos he didn't want the monsters to get him

Why is it when I've managed to get the dc into bed and I'm on my own there is nothing on Tv?!?! I really should get on with the ironing, but I'm feeling very very lazy recently.

muddleddaizy · 25/11/2009 20:36

x post with everyone. Sorry it hasn't worked out Grumpy/Trumpy! At least you've given it your best shot.

Trumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 25/11/2009 20:38

We talked and talked about what to do. Then we dropped DH off at the airport and DD1 clung to him and was inconsolable. I just thought 'what the hell am I doing'?

We still want to buy a small house here for holidays and whatnot.

I just want to come home now. We'll be home for Christmas. DH has finally seen sense and hired some guys to do all the work needed on our house, he came home to find major works going on. So I'll have a kitchen and a bathroom (and at some point a loft conversion)!!!

I can go back to work in April so have that o 'look forward to'.

I'm gald we tried and it didn't work out - the girls have a good grounding in French now!!!

The fennel had no noticable effect btw and I reheated the remainder for tonight so I expect another exciting night........

momi You up for a visit after Christmas? I promise I'll bring food this time......

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 20:42

muddled we let ds watch star wars episode IV (the first original) he absolutely loved it but then wanted a light sabre to hit everything with.... even now every tube (like the xmas wrap we bought today) ends up being used as a light sabre. He still asks for it to be put on all the time but I'm not giving in atm. What did your ds watch that got him all worried about monsters?

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 20:44

trumpy if you've got heating now then put your dinner to good use and make yourself a diy jacuzzi later

HeadlessLadyH · 25/11/2009 20:46

Sounds like a good decision grumpy then. A holiday house would be a damn good compromise me thinks.

OP posts:
Trumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 25/11/2009 20:46

God I feel like a fat frump everytime I see Charlize Theron striding along and stripping in that perfume advert. Bah. Je n'adore pas.

Trumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 25/11/2009 20:48

Ah fi they never put a bath in any of the bathrooms (despite promising they would) so no jacuzzi here.

I can't wait to have a bath.

And an hour to myself.

And a bacon sandwich.

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 25/11/2009 20:49

Charlize who is normally a goddess looks too thin in that advert IMO

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 20:53

WHAT no BATH! omg I think i'd go crackers in under a week if i didn't have the option of a long hot relaxing soak... note that's an option... as in reality it rarely happens that way as ds always wants to pass toys to me so i don't get bored and then gets bored playing with my bath water from outside the bath and wants to climb in with me and all the toys.... come evening time all i want to do is veg out and can't be bothered for a long soak!

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 20:54

I had a bacon sarnie for lunch the other day

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 20:56

Still got the other half of the packet in the fridge too so i could make you one

Reggiee · 25/11/2009 20:57

Just a quick 'un cos I'm exhausted.

Belgian really sorry to hear your news. Hope you managed to schedule a visit.

-G-Trumpy yaaaaaaaayyyyyy - coming home . Good for you for giving it a go. It must have been tres difficile in a new country on your own for the majority of the time.

Is anyone else really really chilly tonight? I'm off to bed to snuggle under two duvets.

muddleddaizy · 25/11/2009 21:00

Grumpy havent seen the advert, but feel a frump compared to most people nowadays and have no motivation to do anything about it, other than eat more

Fi Thanks to my dear mil buying ds1 t-shirts with Ben10, Spiderman and other assorted superheros, he's been keen to watch these programmes with Dh and has done for awhile now. I think the main culprit is Ben10. I hate the programme personally, so now I've banned it and we will only be watching cbeebies/nick jr or turning the wretched Tv off!!

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 21:05

what is it about ben10? DS watches it too and absolutely loves it... he wants to watch spiderman too but i've said he's too young... he does not agree!

Belgianrockets · 25/11/2009 21:11

Thanks everyone for your commiserations re my grandma. DH agreed for me to go home on Sun. He'll do the b'day party on his own. I think that deserves a round of applause. It's going to be very brave of him to have 6 boys to entertain on his own, lol.

gtrumpy that it didn't work out. It was all so exciting at first, but at least you tried and now know that it's not for you. You'll have a lovely happy christmas this year too.

I had a look at that thread too. Poor OP wont know what's hit her when her lo arrives, lol. How difficult can it be, haha.

muddled It's hard to predict what los will be scared off on TV. Ds got terrified by something on Basil Brush of all things and it wasn't even meant to be scary!

weaning We've not given a huge variety here yet either. I think it's because she's only just started eating from what were having. She's mainly had fruit and veg and breadsticks (which she loves), some fromage frais and pasta. No meat or fish yet. We tried cheese, but although she played with it she didn't put it in her mouth, but I'm sure it'll come.

Oh and headless I quite like being called Belgina. I might change my name to that

muddleddaizy · 25/11/2009 21:12

Ds1 loves Spiderman! His favourite clothes are all spiderman! We let him watch a few mins of the movie on Sunday, but he didn't understand what was going on. He's also watched the Incredible Hulk ,but decided that was too scary, but he wanted to know why his uncle was green

I really don't understand the attraction of Ben10 - from what I've seen he's a brat!

Belgianrockets · 25/11/2009 21:13

xpost. Ben 10. Ds went through a ben 10 phase. Now ordinary ben 10 is for babies, but the Ben 10 alien force is ok . I spent 2 summers ago playing ben 10 top trumps day in and day out. I know all the aliens off by heart now, lol.

muddleddaizy · 25/11/2009 21:14

Belgian your DH is good and very brave!

FiByTheSea · 25/11/2009 21:20

aww your DH is a gem belgina (i like name too [smile) and definitely deserves a big gold star for managing the party on his own...

Trumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 25/11/2009 21:39

still waiting for S to go to sleep......

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 25/11/2009 21:46

belgina - so sorry to hear about your grandma. It's good you'll be able to go to see her, and yay to your DH for doing DS's party.

trumpy - I think you've been so brave going to France and giving it a really good. I'll share a bacon sandwich with you when you're back. Except I'm vegetarian and don't live anywhere near you. But you know what I mean.

things that scare small children - DD1 was convinced there was a burglar on our roof, all started by a book about a mouse who can't sleep.

weaning - all ok here. A had noodles and stir fry veg tonight, great fun to play with and she loves red pepper, but ended up wearing a lot of the noodles! I made the sirfry but took some of it out before I put the soy sauce it to avoid the salt, but hers stil had a bit of chilli and lemon juice in it. Houmous on toast is a big hit, as are pears. Not tried protein really yet as we eat a lot of pulses and I'm scared of the potential wind!

Sleep still shocking. I'm boring myself telling you about it so please assume that it's rubbish unless I tell you otherwise!

Still no news on the counselling. I've made an appt to see the GP, but that's not until a week on Monday, the earliest I could get, mad.

Sorry, poo alert - DD1 has pooed on the toilet every day since Saturday!!!

muddleddaizy · 25/11/2009 21:56

Flippin stir fry and noodles sounds like good fun! I gave ds2 a piece of tagliatelle to play with last week - he had so much fun whizzing it round his head, but didn't once put it near his mouth
What a nightmare waiting for counselling and Doctors appointments.

It's been good chatting so late, but I'm off to bed now.

Momino · 25/11/2009 22:00

ah, a bit to catch up on so quick post first:
belgian, so sorry about your gran. That's gallant of your DH to do the birthday party. I'm so glad you can go to visit her, it will bmean a lot.

trumpy, whilst I'm sad it didn't work for you, it sounds like you're coming home for the right reasons. Moving there was what you needed to do at the time and now it's time to come back here. does that make sense? In a very, very selfish way, I'm so glad as it means we'll be able to meet up again and I'm looking forward to seeing you in Jan along with reggiee, and anyone else who's interested. hey, we might even finish our kitchen by then (been a building site since last March).

ok, moving upstairs into bed, with a horlicks, to catch up on the rest of the posts.
