morning everyone
Just a quick hello from me as im trying to get DS ready to go to MIL as i am off to work soon.
Miserable day here, its still dark outside.
I am hoping the weather improves for the weekend as we are going to Aviemore for a couple of nights.

DW hope you are all free from bugs soon.
misdee hope you are doing ok?

merry happy birthday to your gorgeous twins for tomorrow

Oblomov · 21/10/2009 12:50

DrsWife and Misdee, how are you both ?
Anyone else's child going through bad seperation anxiety ?
M has been quite clingy for the last couple of months. Cries when I leave the room.
But since being at nursery, 2 weeks ago, it has become really bad. He screams and screams and screams as I am trying to leave him. Was sobbing at work today.
I know this happens, but I never had it with ds1 (he always ran off, with not so much as a wave goodbye), so this makes it all worse.
But my PN group - there are 4 of us, all their children are going through bad sep anx aswell, - and 2 of them are not at work. one just moved house.
So are you guys all going through this ?
Is it just a 12 month thing ?

ruthosaurus · 21/10/2009 14:41

Obs, mine screams whenever I leave the room but when I have listened outside (e.g. outside the dining room door at home) he usually calms down and plays with a toy or bounces up and down or something within a couple of minutes. I just think he doesn't like being left.

Can nursery call you or text you after you have dropped him off to reassure you that all is well? Fin's nursery have always said that if I want to call them to check I can do anytime, and they have been known to call me if it was a particularly bad drop-off.

Mind you, he also screams blue murder when his Daddy comes to collect him as well, so who knows, eh?

misdee · 21/10/2009 17:30

i'm ok.

been having a bad few weeks, and lots of appointments.

soph has allergies to milk eggs and peanuts, and we finally sawe a dietician last week.

but the week before soph was crawling oddly, and we went to speak to the HV, and after prodding and pulling her about (soph was ever so good about it), they have said her hips are fine, but she does appear to have low muscle tone, and isnt weight bearing, so we are now waiting to see paediatrics to find out why.

so thats us in a nutshell.

Ceebee74 · 21/10/2009 19:56

Obs Hamster just screams full stop It does get worse though whenever I leave the room (although he is generally ok at nursery drop-offs - occasionally he will whimper a little but not full-on screaming - he apparently saves that for me at home) He is screaming much more now than he ever did as a baby (pretty much constantly)....no idea what is wrong but these last few days he has been so so grumpy.

Bathtime was hellish tonight as Hamster screamed all the way through (and bathtime is the one time we can usually guarantee a happy boy) which upset DS1 so he started crying as well. Both wanted to get out and cuddle on my lap, DH is away tonight - very hard to split myself between them when they are both upset and demanding. Anyway, they are both asleep now - if only it was a Friday night (aka vino night )

Misdee thanks for the update - pretty cr*p but at least you are getting appointments and hopefully some answers very soon.

juanitad · 21/10/2009 20:21

Hi all,

Sorry not to have posted for weeks and weeks, but work has somewhat taken over my life unfortunately! Half term next week so there is light at the end of the tunnel! Was good to see Daisy at NCT last week but the sale was horrific, so busy and I ended up buying a load of stuff with P in the BabyBjorn (he's far too big for it now!) and no husband to help carry as he was laid up with toothache at home!! Ah well, I managed to get one of those trike thingies Ruth was talking about, although think it was a bit of a rip-off unfortunately. Bit of an impulse buy.

All well here in general. Life is mad busy, had forgotten what that was like. Am rather craving my maternity leave days again! P loving childminder (he goes there 3 days a week) but not loving nursery so much (2 days a week) - cries when I leave him, like Obs DC. He's usually ok when I pick him up, but I feel wracked with guilt on nursery days and wish I worked part time. I guess feeling guilty is just part and parcel of being a mum.

P kind of on the move - can take about 5 steps before collapsing. He is fab and just gets cuter every day!

Will try and post again soon! Hope everyone is well

Cricri · 21/10/2009 21:39

Sorry for not posting since last week's update about DH after his scare. All seems OK, he had 3 days off work, although GP said he was fit to go back whenever he wanted. He can't drive for 4 weeks though, which is really inconvenient! He has to go back to hospital for a couple of tests as an outpatient - an echo scan of his heart with bubbles and also the 24h monitoring thing your husband had Rutho. Fingers crossed for both our DH's. I think mine had a big scare, understandably, and it shook him up quite badly. The worst thing is not knowing what caused the problem - the hospital are pretty sure it wasn't a mini stroke so what on earth was it?
It's reassuring to read that I'm not the only one with a clingy baby, although I'm finding it very wearing. I was on a training course all day on Sunday and I seem to have been paying for my absence ever since. She's been feeding near constantly at night and the past couple of evenings I haven't been able to settle her to sleep. I feed her to sleep, wait until I think she's in a deep sleep then slowly edge away. As soon as I'm out of the room she pings awake and screams. After a couple of attempts she's normally so wide awake that there's no point in trying to get her off to sleep anymore. Tonight I spent 90 minutes trying to get her off and she's now downstairs with me playing quite happily. Oh well, at least I can catch up on MN, although the rest of the evening is a write-off. DH is at work so can't help out either, not that he can do much as it's me she wants. Ceebee I wish it were vino night too It seems to have got worse since she's been at nursery as well. I did read somewhere that 1 was a separation anxiety stage but I can't remember where I read it. She starts screaming as soon as I hand her to somebody even though she was perfectly happy with other people before.
Misdee Sorry you're having such a worrying time.
Coolkat Hope DD is better. E had a virus a couple of weeks ago with a really high temp, we had a bad few days too.
Drswife Hope you've got over your D&V bug - not nice
Daisy Shame you didn't get more notice to go on Watchdog, it would have been really interesting.
Toolly Good to see you again
Hello to everyone I've missed!

LatinDAISYcal · 21/10/2009 21:41

yay jaunita

speraration anxiety.....bumble cries if I even turn my back on him at the minute. I'm hoping just a wee phase as he is normally pretty chilled. He went through a bit of it at about 9months, but got better again and now this . He is also very very grumpy as well. My favourite link the Wonder Weeks says 50-56 weeks is a fussy period!

I have thrush again

OP posts:
misdee · 21/10/2009 22:16

cricri and rutho, what happened with your dh's?

my dh gave us a scare a few weeks back, and has been unwell (first major illness since transplant) and has been back and forth to local hospital and harefield a lot.

But he is fine, just a bit of a virus he is strggling to shift.

Good news is, he started back at work last week. yippee!

LatinDAISYcal · 21/10/2009 22:26

good news on DH at work misdee but sorry to hear he has been ill. Is he having the swine flu jab?

and so sorry about Soph's allergies . I have coeliac disease and lord knows that's hard enough, but at least it just makes me ill and isn't life threatening.

OP posts:
misdee · 21/10/2009 22:30

yeah, we'll all be jabbed in the next few weeks for flu jabs and swine flu when its ready, got to book the usual flu jab tomorrow. the clinic was last weekend but i forgot. will arrange it for halfterm.

PinkyMinxy · 21/10/2009 23:26

Hello
Juanitad hi! Hope you have a good break over the half term.

Misdee sorry to hear about allergies and DH's poorliness. My friend's little girl had the thing with weight bearing on her legs and she didn't walk till she was a bit over 2 but you wouldn't know it now. Hope all is ok.

Cricri hope your DH is ok, too. Sorry to hear about the no sleep too. Have you tried just sitting with her for a good 2o mins after she has gone to sleep before you make any move to leave the room? Sometimes it works.

Daisy poor you on the thrush. I have a very sore nipple, but mainly because I'm getting a bit chewed from time to time- the minx! Bless her, Mimi had her BCG today- finally. SHe was such a sweetie sitting on my knee in her vest, swinging her legs. SHe didn't cry either. But she is starting to look quite grow up. Has her MMR next week.

DRSW hope you are feeling better. The pooing the pool thing- isn't that just one of those things you dread your own baby doing?? I always have a little worry about wether the swim nappy would actually hold it if it happened!

Happy Birthday for your twins for tomorrow, Merry- and well done you!!

Separation anxiety- i'm not sure if mimi has it- but then I prolly have it because I have hardly left her . She definitely gets why can't I be doing that too anxiety, esp. if she'sin the buggy or the sling whilst the other two are doing something.

MImi is pulling herself up at tables etc. Poor DD1- her jigsaws and her toy farm are no longer safe!

Met a woman in the park the other day with a newborn and a toddler. Gorgeous baby and the new baby smell.. SHe asked me if MImi (on the swing) was my first andf I said 'no, she's my last'.. DH has been teasing me about it ever since. I think I'm one of those people who will be eternally broody, but I am pretty certain I don't want any more children.

Ceebee74 · 22/10/2009 08:23

Happy Birthday to the twins Hope you all have a fantastic day!! x

LadyBuzz · 22/10/2009 08:46

Happy birthday to the twins x

DH now has Jay's bug - ewww

I'm not good with ill people, especially ones that do the dying swan routine!

cricri good news that DH is feeling a bit better now.

misdee sounds like you have had a busy time, great that DH is back at work.

I still have no idea what to get J for his birthday, we have ordered a wheelybug for christmas but he doesn't need anything at all. I need to go and have a look around. but then he is currently sat on the floor happily playing with a cardboard box and a beach ball

I have agreed to change my work hours when I go back, I figure playing their rules will give me a bit more leverage when I kick up a fuss about my job description being changed.

HI all

LB sorry to hear about the bug spreading. Maybe you DH would be better with some peace and quite so you could go out and enjo yourself!

For mimi's birthday we've bought her a little pull along car type thing with little people that come out, and a peapod dolly (which I had been coveting in the toyshop for ages). Personally I think a ball sounds like a very excellent first birthday present, especially if it coems with a box . If you add a large piece of wrapping paper I think it would make a fab present, because they really do like the bpackaging best, don't they!

LadyBuzz · 22/10/2009 16:12

I agree Pinky he loves a bit of paper!
The peapod dolly sounds lovely.

I did go out and left him too it, hes alot better now - thank god!

LatinDAISYcal · 22/10/2009 17:11

Happy Birthday to Judo and Wiss

at MMR; I had completely forgotten about it. We get it at 13months here, but I think I'll wait until after Christmas with bumble as I don't want him having any after effects over the festive period.

bumble seems much more of a baby than DD did, but maybe that's because I was already pregnant with him when she was this age

Hana is there any voluntary counselling service you can go to for a bit whilst you wait- even just for yourself?

Daisy it does seem a bit mad doesn't it. I hope it's getting easier for you now, I think small age gaps are hard at first but seeing the way my 3 are already playing together I think it's worth it.

Lol about the box. My DD1 got a sylvanian families car for her birsthday and you know what they've done- they have made a car out of the box and are all playing with that instead!

But big Happy Birthday to the twins! Yay xxxx

Obs have you had your Maxi's newborn photos out yet? I'm holding off for a bit because I know I'm going to blub!

notimefortv · 22/10/2009 20:54

OMG - You are all still here!

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It's ROCA here - I signed off ages ago and never knew how to get my name back.

Was checking out some advice about puppy's - ahhh - am getting a puppy in a couple of weeks and with 3 kids under 5 life is gonna get even more crazy - anyway, thought would have a quick sneak and here you all are.

Lovely to see you all still chatting.

Greta is doing well and is my stil lmy little angel of all my 3 babies if only she would sleep through the night!!! AHHHHHHHHH - who ever knows what the night will hold.

Well - I have to get on with a bit of work but wanted to say hi and hope to catch up a bit on what you all up to.

Grrr Mumsnet can drive you crazy tho - have found some MN's even pounch on innocent questions in the pets areas - jeez, it drives me mad you can't ask anything without the judgement brigade clobbering you - that's why I left before but I love you ladies!

Will pop back when I can .

xx

LatinDAISYcal · 22/10/2009 21:22

Hey Roca I was just wondering about you the other day (in a non stalkerish way of course )

This is great, everyone coming out for the birthday rollcall

OP posts:
notimefortv · 22/10/2009 22:30

Hi Daisy,

Ah - it's nice you were thinking of me - even if it was in a stalker way! Am still live and kicking - life non stop hectic like am sure everyone's is on here.

Greta is 1 on 12th Nov and was just saying to my DH how we really must pay her some attention soon! People ask me what she needs for her birthday - I'm like, everything and nothing - she would love anything that is actually hers!

Spent the evening so far thinking of all the things I should be doing and looking at piles of stuff around but now gonna go and 'allow' myself some TV time......

LatinDAISYcal · 22/10/2009 23:06

lol Roca, we have the same problem here with bumble as most of what he owns is a hand me down.....even his pink pyjamas His birthday present is a recycled present that DD got but never even looked at and was ut away just after he was born (though i'm sure she will covet it when it reappears from the loft)
