Rosa · 22/11/2009 13:31

MM we were both vomit cleaning then round 10 ish last night. Minirosa has a terrible cough and it was just all too much for her system poor thing . LAst night she slept mostly in arms and today I gave her her morning nap in an old buggy I had in the house ( the others are 40 steps downstairs!)
Daisy Sorry about missing santa and the more bugs does it ever end or do we have the whole winter like this ??? Well done for the money raising Rosa makes note to go and get organised ..I just keep giving my stuff away !!
'waves to everybody else and sends positive vibes for a ill free week .....

Ceebee74 · 22/11/2009 13:54

Afternoon all

I think Hamster officially had the worst 1st birthday ever He is really under the weather with a stinking cold and literally moped around yesterday (when he wasn't asleep) whilst the party was going on He did perk up though when we bought the cake in and sang Happy Birthday so at least we have some photos of him looking happy

Not sure whether to take him to the docs or not - am fairly certain it is just a bad cold but he keeps puking aswell. He is breathing ok, doesn't have a temperature and is certainly more himself today although I don't think we have had more than a handful of smiles over the last 3 days....any thoughts? Not sure what the doc would do tbh.

Sorry for me me me post - will try to catch up later but DH has only taken DS1 to MIL's this afternoon so I have Hamster around.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/11/2009 14:18

Hey Ceebee; poor little hamster . Happy Birthday for yesterday. I would take a view on it ans see how he is doing in the morning. Last time I had bumble at the doc with a snotty coldy thing, they were quite offhand with me, in an "and just what do you expoect us to do" sort of way.

My DH has just loaded the children up with sugar; DS1 and DD had a sherbet dip and bumble had a snack size twix bar. I have absolved myself of dealing with any of the sugar rush fall out on the principal that he fed it to them; he can deal with the madness.

We are having an afternoon watching cheesy Christmas fils; first up The Santa Clause

Cricri · 22/11/2009 15:01

Afternoon all,
Vomit city here too - E is never sick so I'm really hoping it's not a bug! We went out for a lovely Sunday lunch with my mum and sister and went back to my mum's for a cup of tea. E was quite happily playing then out of nowhere, loads of puke. Bless her, she was so upset. She's currently asleep so we'll see how things develop in the next few hours. She's had a cold and cough so perhaps she's just under the weather. Or perhaps she ate too much at lunchtime. Or perhaps it's yet another bug she's picked up from nursery. Not much fun in any case.
Sorry to hear about all the other poorly babies too, it's been a bad few weeks for illness. I feel especially sorry for Ceebee with Hamster being ill for his birthday
What is everyone doing about the SF vaccine for their LOs? We haven't been called yet, but I'm not sure what to do. As Daisy mentioned about Bumble, E is due her 12 month boosters now and MMR next month (if we can squeeze them in between two bouts of illness It's been one thing after another since she started nursery!) so SF on top of that seems a bit much. However, I wouldn't want her to get the full blown SF either... Dilemmas! I'm hoping the fact I'm still bf is helping her immune system, although it doesn't seem to be having much effect on the other bugs I must admit!
Hope everyone else is OK and enjoy the rest of your Sundays

Rosa · 22/11/2009 15:19

CriCri have the same dilema but we haven't been called yet mind you a friends non risk dd who is a year older than minirosa has been..Mind you her mother works in high places so maybe I shouldn't be.

We are aiming to have the seasonal flu vacc hopefully 10 days after they finish these antibiotics. MInirosas jabs have been moved to mid dec and her mmr will be in the spring ...My guess its everything will be moved again.

THing is with the sf that possibly both mine have had it as they did tests on children who had the same symptoms as mine and tests were positive.... So am going to leave it for the doc to decide.

Lovely pm Daisy hope the dcs are all feeling better.
ceebee Sorry about hampster hope he gets well soon.....As for docs I hate it when they have that patronising expression ...AT least I know I have done my bit by having them checked out .....-
Still running a silly temp here just under Calpol giving but enough to be grouchy and grumpy.

PinkyMinxy · 22/11/2009 16:23

Twinks it sounds like you have the measure of her- so a bit of tossing the ball back over the fence to her wo'nt go amiss, I think. I would let her sulk a bit- she needs you more than t'other way round. My bro and sis agree with everything she says etc. It easy for them they live a looong long way away (not by mistake I'm sure). I have no-one in that family on my side.

Sorry to hear everyone is icky. When they really vom you know about it! It's horrible, isn't it?
Ceebee I am a right GP botherer- but then sometimes they really are poorly, aren't they.

Went to Piccadilly station today to watch the trains! Had great fun.

Does anyone want to buy an almost unused Micralite? It's the one we had the carrycot on in the sitting room. Only took it out of the house twice and the seat bit has never been used!

sparkletoes · 22/11/2009 16:25

Oooh everyone is poorly just now big virtual hugs..

Poor Hamster Ceebs that is rotten being so poorly on his birthday Hope he gets better soon.

Poor Bumble too and Plum and Cricri's E, MiniRosa.. the list is endless just now

REALLY feel for you Twinks your situation sounds very familiar to me.. irrational nasty snipes from mum and a ne'er-do-wrong sister. My mum and sis are exactly the same. I blame the menopause you know, must be hormonal to be so short-fused (all the bloody time). In fact I am getting a 2 pronged attack as my (normally lovely) MIL has become a crotchy, snipy bisim(sp!) too recently (SIGH)... I could go on...

Ah monkeyM you sound like a woman after my own heart there..! Sleep is essential!

Sorry to anyone I have missed be back soon...

ellielou02 · 22/11/2009 16:40

Gosh its really doing the rounds isnt it! my cold has went to my chest, Millie is coughing and sneezing, DD1 woke me at 3am then promptly vomited all over my bedroom floor, she has claimed the couch today, now DH has manflu, I am actually glad I am working tomorrow.
ceebee I would just see how he is tomorrow too, I was going to take Millie last week but she is just off colour, no temp chest is ok bit of a snotty nose, so thought I would get laughed at and never went.
Hope all the other poorly babies get better soon.

coolkat · 22/11/2009 17:55

My lordy are these bugs passing through the internet. Becca has another load of anti biotics for her ear infection which she has been screaming with towards end of last week. She cries whenever I leave the room at the min.Today we have been to a 1st birthday and she has had an absolute ball, fell asleep on the way home and woke up with a temp of 39.4. I give in!!!

Sorry to hear of all the poorly peeps. I am dreading sickness bugs I hate sick, panic when kids vomit I make DD1 sleep with a bucket permanently through fear of her needing to vomit....

Also sorry to hear of family issues. x

Hana I hope you have had a nice weekend and had a good time with your sister, sorry to hear Relate not going as well as hoped. I think I would be getting cross with your DH by now. Keep at it hun. X X

Good work at the table sale daisy.

Ceebee sorry Hamster's 1st birthday was marred by him being poorly. x

Right off to hoover before bedtime and then I need to Iron. DH being assessed all week and its quite full on so I need to be as focused and organised as I can to avoid ading extra pressure

Got my smear again tomorrow

chocolategal · 22/11/2009 20:16

Hi
Just finished clearing up after DS's birthday party. We had a housefull but he had a great time & was totally spoilt.
His favourite was his ball pit and huge tunnel I think.

His birthday is tomorrow and we are off to centerparcs.

I have felt really emotional today thinking back to this time last year when i was still with bump. What a year it has been.
Thank you ladies for being part of it. I lost my mum 7 years ago and have relied on you all for advice on things I wouldn't ask my MIL!

Sorry for all the poorly babies still. Hopefully that's it all out of the way for Christmas!!

Hope hanas DS has has a good birthday.

PinkyMinxy · 22/11/2009 20:21

Happy Bithday to babies!

Chocgal happy birthday to your darling boy tomorrow. The first birthday always seems to bring the memories flooding back!! Hana's F isn't on this list - was it the same day as yours? Have a great time at Centerparcs.

Coolkat hope the smear goes ok tomorrow and Becca gets better soon. I think it is the constant whinging/screaming that makes it so hard when they are ill - like a form of torture isn't it?

Don't think I will bother with the doctor tomorrow as Hamster definitely seemed better tonight so hopefully after another good night's sleep (fortunately his illness has not affected his sleep!) he should be ok tomorrow (fingers crossed).

MonkeyMargot · 22/11/2009 20:50

The plum missing from your list Ceebee. She was the 17th November.

chocolategal · 22/11/2009 20:50

Thanks ceebee & pinky.

Ceebee- hana's DS's birthday is today, was on fb earlier.

ellielou02 · 22/11/2009 21:33

Glad you had a good day today chocgal I always am a bit emotional at birthdays/xmas too, and I appreciate what you mean about this thread being invaluable, I actually think it has stopped me being such an anxious person you think you are the only one going through something then you find out its all normal and will pass, FWIW I think you are all FAB and would like to say thanks too
coolkat I am beginning to wonder when all the illnesses will end to it's getting a bit annoying now, I havent been out of the house properly for ages.

Can I also say how great the support on this thread has been - I don't know where I'd be without you all! Although I sometimes don't get chance to post very often, I do lurk and often find someone else's post helpful.
Happy belated birthday to F Hana and to E for tomorrow Chocgal. Glad F had a good birthday and hope E enjoys Center Parks! Also a belated happy birthday to all the other babies whose birthdays I have missed through my sporadic posting!
Sorry to hear of yet more poorly babies too Coolkat I hope Becca's temp comes down overnight. So worrying to have a lingering infection like that which keeps coming and going.
All OK here atm, E was sick twice more this evening but she's fine in herself. Tearing around and into everything whilst DH were trying to strip the bed/clean up So I'm really not sure what she's got. Surely if it was a bug she'd be a bit under the weather? I'll see how she is in the morning, and crucially whether her night feeds stay down or not... Hopefully I won't be stripping beds at some ungodly hour!
Coolkat I empathise with the fear of sick - I just hate it, I'm sure I suffer from emetophobia (I think that's what it's called)! Although I've surprised myself today dealing with E so perhaps I'm getting better with it. Not much choice when it's your own child I guess...
Hana Hope tomorrow's Relate session is a bit more productive.

twinklingfairy · 22/11/2009 22:23

pinky have sent you a message on fb

sparkletoes · 22/11/2009 22:30

quickly..

happy birthday Hana's DS!
and good luck for tomorrow...

Enjoy Centerparcs Chocgal.. am quite !!

Tiny wasn't on the list either Ceebs!! 16th Nov..

Night all... x

LadyBuzz · 23/11/2009 09:13

Happy Birthday E enjoy centreparcs choc which one are you going to?

coolkat hope the smear goes well I went for mine on Friday and found out I have a prolapse, so she couldn't do it and now I have to go back to see the well woman doctor to see if anything needs done about it and also to try to get the smear done

I too am very vomit phobic, I can just about cope with the kids (getting worse with DS1) but I hate it when DH is ill.

Hope all of these poorly babies are better today.

Hana hope your session goes well today.

Hugs to everyone with family issues too.

I can also echo the sentiment of this thread being fantastic support, also having no mum to ask it has been invaluable. Thankyou all.

sparkletoes · 23/11/2009 12:01

Also agree with the fab support on this thread, much better than any I could get elsewhere..

My DS1 (age 3) is telling everyone that the Prime Minister is called Golden Brown and he takes all mummy & daddy's money so they don't have as much for presents this year... Did I go too far there??

AFingerofFudge · 23/11/2009 13:16

quick post as M has just woken up! Hi to all!! We have just about kicked the coughs/colds/bad throats etc, thankfully.

I am soooooo relieved to hear its not just me who has a complete phobia about vomit!! I am petrified of the whole thing, and go into serious panic when anyone in the house is ill. Gawd, I've NEVER told anyone that, as i thought I was a complete weirdo, but hearing others say it, well, not that I'm happy you're vomit phobic like me coolkat cricri and LB, but I'm relieved its not just me. Hurrah for coolkat bringing up (har har ) the topic in the first place. crikey I really am a loon.

Therefore, I do totally agree this thread is great for all sorts of support and reassurances too. I also have no mum so no-one to really turn to over concerns that a mum understands.
Not that I want to be insensitive to you twinks and anyone else with probs with mums. I know it's not all a bunch of roses with family. I do have a dysfunctional extended family.....(another very long and fairly dull story so I shall spare you all)

Back to the vomit....or not as we hope here. There is an emetephobes thread I have found on this site, but I dont know how to do links. I can try if anyone is interested.

Oh I think I'm going to get a laptop this week. . I can't wait. No more reading 5 chapters of war and peace whilst waiting for one page to load. I sewed the seed with DH ages ago about having a new laptop, and just gradually built up to a crescendo over the last couple of weeks, leaving computer catalogues around etc. just so he knows it's gonna happen. I also sigh VERY deeply whilst waiting for said crappy computer to drag itself into action when I turn it on. Not that he needs reminding how bad it is, just he needs reminding that I really am going to spend some money on it. Cor, does anyone else have to do this kind of thing with their DH when they want to spend money? or am I too subserviant, should I just get out there and spend the family money on me???

right, verbal diahorrea seems to have taken me over this morning. M is now "waahhing" (DS1's made-up word for any baby crying) so I must go.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all little ones with birthdays this week. May you stay puke-free/cold-free and have a lovely time x

back later if I'm still allowed

LOL Sparkles out of the mouth of babes eh ?
Hana sorry about the bug I think I prefer cold/ temps to D&V bugs.
Minirosa was back at doc today but she seems so much more in herself today. After yesterdays return to high temperature... MInd you she has sprouted 2 bottom teeth to join the top one ( that arrived 2 weeks ago) so we might be starting to catch you all up ......
We won't be having the sf jab in this house well the dds as doc reckons they have had it and seeing as dh and I diidn't get it off them then we will most likely give it a miss.
Think I am managing to keep up with the birthdays on FB ....Happy sick free birthdays to those I have missed

tiredbuthappymama · 23/11/2009 14:24

Hi Ladies vbab78 here with a new name.

I hope everyone is well and all our babes are doing well and have had fab birthdays. Really sorry for not coming on mumsnet been lucky to get on facebook (pics on there)every once and a while.

Also sorry but dont think I can read all the months of posts I have missed. Please dont cast me out into the wilderness alone as punishment ;-). Will try to get on later after meadowhell this evening.

Is this the lastest thread? Oh and can I add Alyssa to the birthday list. She was 1 on 11/11 . She is 1 going on 11!
