hey vbab . I hope you don't think you are being ignored lovely ; tis just a bit quiet round here these days!!!!

Good to see you posting and fantastic idea about the pre Christmas meet ; I'm happy to host the Northern meet up here as well

Actually a couple of other forums (fora?) I'm on have a wee drunken emoticon....I think we could use it here to great effect...off to suggest it to tech
Sorry to hear everyone is still feeling ill. My throat is finally getting better, although my glands are still a bit swollen. I was starting to worry as it felt like I had no mucous in my mouth and eating and drinking was bloody painful, and cleaning my teeth was such an ordeal. But, a friend of mine has it too, so I'm reassured that it is just a bug and mot something more sinsiter. Really must stop snogging my bezzy mate though

GTG, kids slept until 6am last night/this morning, but am not resting on my laurels that order has been restored chez moi.

tiredbuthappymama · 23/11/2009 22:51

hi lacka. I thought I had killed the thread. Lovely of you to offer yours as a venue for northern meetup. Shall we see what numbers we can drum up. Then we can see if you still wish to risk your home.

Sorry to hear you have been ill. I'm sure the whiskey will sort it out . Fingers crossed for another lie in for you if 6am is a lie in .

Tinkerisdead · 24/11/2009 12:54

hi all, just posting to say hi as I havent had a chance to get on the PC all week. frantically trying to sort everything out for DD's birthday party. I have put photos of her over the year round my kitchen but i've put all the ones with funny faces, the kind you never sound out to people, thought it would make people laugh!

anyway, sorry to post and run, havent caught up with any posts yet, i will catch up after the party and my mother has gone home

Rosa · 24/11/2009 13:22

Hi am after advice here....
Minirosa ( the toothless wonder up until a week or so ago) has been a bit BLW ( usually bread, carrots , bits of things to try )and puree ( lumpy normally as she got older) anything from veg to meat to whatever . Then usually with baby pasta thrown in . She started to get bored with it so I split things up and I gave her meat , pasta and veg most of which she spat . Then she got ill and now she refuses everything apart from yoghurt , fruit ( in any shape or form) and bread . I have food apart , together , on her table ( she is also in the throwing phase of everything) Giving her anything that we are eating at the time - but no joy . WHat do I try ????? She is bf only morning and evening ... She is quite chubby but I haven't seen her full barrel tummy for a while ....

sorry for abscence.
Can someone please tell me what date i need to post secret santa by ? its not past is it ? coz that would really 'out' me, wouldn't it ?

LackaDAISYcal · 24/11/2009 22:00

hana, hang in there with the feeding. I found it a bit tough when I had food poisoning after my holiday and felt that bumble wasn't getting enough, but once I was able to keep food and fluids in me for any length of time, things improved no end.

Rosa, I found it took a good week for mine to get their appetites back after being ill; just keep offering food to her and she'll eat it when she's ready. If you can try and get some veg in her, peas and corn are firm faves here...as is cheese on toast and spaghetti bolognese. I would go for lots of little snacks all day as well; cubes of cheese, raisins, grapes, toast, crackers....and if there is anything that she will eat that's a sauce, a dollop of full fat cream cheese in the DC's helps cool theirs down and gets more calories in. I was suprised reading the Mumsnet toddler book, just how little they actually need to eat at this age and still be getting all they need. I'll dig it out and post it up

bumble is also chucking food everywhere, or smearing it into his hair at every mealtime. It's getting a little bit wearing! Lots

Day from hell here. Dd has been in a hideous mood all day and this morning, climbed up on a stool beside bumble and threw him off it (screaming "my stool" and he cracked his head on an open drawer on the way down and cut his head then banged his cheek on the floor. He was then beaten up by a small boy at mini overs and scraped his face on the carpet at the bottom of the slide, giving himself a friction burn on his top lip. then came the call from school to come and get DS1; who was ligging it. As soon as we got home he miraculously improved . Then the nightmare that is our baby clinic for bumble's hib/menC booster; he was an absolute star, not even crying when he was stuck with the needle, but the older two just wound each other up and fought. By the time we left I was ready to string them up! When we got home DD decided it would be fun, while I was in the loo, to lock bumble in the front porch (cue screaming from him and no doubt a lifetime trauma of being shut in small spaces) and DS1 continued to be a little beggar as well...he is SOOOOOO going back to school tomorrow and the school will be under orders to ignore all declarations of illness!!! And of course bumble's jabs kicked in just at bedtime and he was a nightmare and needed calpol, nurofen and teething granules beofre he would settle!

But, he has been walking today . I was loading the dishwasher after moving him out of the way, and when I turned round to get more stuff he was teetering across the floor towards me. He's been tottering about on and off all day as well.

sorry for being a bit meeeee centric

It's just been one of them days!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/11/2009 22:02

DW, your party preps sound hectic....get some photos of the finished room so you can shame her when she is older...and then keep the print outs so you can pin them up at her 18th as well

tiredbuthappymama · 25/11/2009 08:53

At work at mo. Will try to read posts later but need to put self pitying post on. I have been spoilt with both kids sleeping. BUT for the last 3 nights one or both have woken up and of course I sorted them. To make it even worse this has happened on a week when I am doing 3 work days in a row. Then as well as feeling like s**t this morning I was coughing and nearly gipping like I always do when I cough because I have caught DH cold. [falling asleep at desk emotion]

Bad but funny story. I was so tired yesterday at work after 2 nights of being up that I literally could hardly keep my eyes open at my desk. I had to keep going for walks outside in the freezing wind to wake me up. Anyway ... the funny bit is that I had to attend a presentation a work colleague did. I really faught my eyes and nearly dropped off. Well HE NOTICED! Thankfully he didnt say anything during the presentation. BUT said he noticed my eyes were hooded at full volume in front of the other lads I work with including my bosses . Eek. I was so embarassed . Everyone laughed even me (but reeling inside) and explained his presentation was good its just the affect kids have on you and how sorry I was.

Off to make a strong coffee and wake myself up outside. Roll on 5pm.

Rosa · 25/11/2009 12:43

Daisy what a day !!! Poor Bumble he sounds if he really had a battering day ...

Thanks for the hints today she has eaten half a weetabix and bit of fruit she refused her lunch and had a hissy fit when I ate a clementine and diddn't give her any - she then ate half . I have some ricotta and will try and get that into her at some point. She even refused cream cheese on crackers last night !
Tired mamma - try fishermans friend sweets they are foul and they can wake a sleeping dragon up !!!

Happy birthday to any I've missed , drswife's DD's must be soon?
Well done on bumble walking and get well soon Hana
hi to everyone

Cricri · 25/11/2009 22:03

Daisy Sounds like you had the day from hell yesterday, hope all is back to normal today. Hope Bumble has recovered from his injuries and well done him taking his first steps!
Rosa E has been a bit funny with food since being sick the other day. To the point where she's been crying when put in her high chair. Tonight was the first proper meal she's had since Sunday lunchtime. I think MR will start eating again once she's got her appetite back.
I think E had a bug, even though she had no other symptoms apart from being sick because I felt really awful yesterday. By lunchtime was feeling really nauseous and achy and thought I was coming down with flu. Poor E had to entertain herself for most of the day whilst I lay on the sofa feeling sorry for myself! Yesterday evening I went to bed at 8.30pm to try to sleep it off then woke around 10.30 to go to the bathroom and I must have had a temperature because I came over all dizzy and nearly passed out. Very scary, especially as I was on my own in the house with E as DH was on the night shift. Rubbish night's sleep too as E woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep for ages. Fortunately I felt a lot better this morning and more or less back to normal tonight, although still not very hungry. DH has got it now so is in the spare room and hasn't gone to work. Honestly, since E started nursery it's been one thing after another as every week she seems to come back with a different bug!
Hana Hope you feel better now and that bf is back to normal. Although I wasn't sick yesterday, I definitely wasn't producing as much milk as normal so whatever I've had has obviously had an effect on my supply even though I was careful to keep drinking lots. Things seem to be back to normal now though.
Ellielou Sorry to hear you're still feeling rough too, there's lots of nasty bugs going around atm.
Tiredmamma Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.
Hope everyone else is OK

PinkyMinxy · 26/11/2009 00:08

Hi all
tiredmama lovely to have you back!

sorry to hear so many poorly. Being sick really puts babies and small children right off their food for a while.

Mine are slowly getting back to normal.

Mimi has started pulling herself up to stand at tables etc.She is very pleased with herself.

Daisy poor you..poor Bumble. hope you have had a better day.

Just been to traf centre for the Boots offer thingy (got loads of points on my card now, plus buying Gap pj's for the girls with 30% voucher. Mimi has ones with a big lady bird on (Gaston!) and red bottoms with black ladybird spots on. She is going to look soo cute. Got them some of those slipper socks from Boots, too.

Bought myself some perfume can't believe I did it! But I haven't had any in so long!

love to all.x

nappyaddict · 26/11/2009 03:00

hi sorry to hijack but I was wondering if juanitad still posts on here or if anyone has an email address for her?

Ceebee74 · 26/11/2009 08:25

Nappyaddict I do have an e-mail address for her but don't want to put it on here. She doesn't really post on here anymore although she may lurk. I can pass on a message to her if you want??

pinky those PJ's sound really really cute What perfume did you get? I treated myself a few weeks ago as I needed some new perfume and wanted a change from the one I have been using forever - I got Daisy by Marc Jacobs - smells yummy! I also tried the Boss Orange one and that was really lovely too so I might be putting that on my list for Father Christmas

Cricri I know what you mean about bugs and nursery. Hamster hasn't been too bad but I clearly remember DS1 had a constant runny nose for at least his first 3 months there!! Glad you are better - there is nothing worse than being ill yourself and having to look after children

Tired lovely to have you back I know what you mean about tiredness and work - the purple bags under my eyes are definitely getting worse!!

Hi to everyone else

nappyaddict · 26/11/2009 12:27

Can you ask her if it is ok if you send me the email address? waterchestnuts at googlemail dot com x

PinkyMinxy · 26/11/2009 16:14

Hi Ceebee I got completely baffled by the huge selection available so I got coco chanel mademoiselle. I had forgotten how nice it is to wear perfume!

Tinkerisdead · 26/11/2009 21:51

Hi all, survived DD's birthday party. SIL from hell didnt come which was great, FIL didnt come, he turned up day before and said oh we're not coming to DD's birthday. Just totally blase about it.

Anyway we had a fantastic day with kids running in and out of ball pool, pop up tent and tunnel that we set up in the lounge, each taking turns being pushed round in DD's new smart trike. The cake i made turned out fab, i'll put a pic on profile when i upload pictures. She got spoilt rotten so i spent all day trying to make room for all the new toys. Just a fantastci day but I couldnt manage to sing happy birthday cos as soon as I started i just felt the biggest lump in my throat and i was ready to sob. My tiny baby was running round chasing 2 year olds, in a little dress and proper patent shoes and i wanted to sob and sob and what a big girl she was.

Then DH came to bed and said, lets make another baby tonight so they can share a birthday!

errr it takes 9 months to hatch a baby knobhead not 12!

tegan · 27/11/2009 09:36

Hi all i'm back for a quick post.

Tomorrow Owen is 1 and i am not happy, i want my baby back.
This morning he fell out of his cot i think by standing on his pillow and leaning over, he is fine but now i am stressing wether i should put him in a bed.

have a little family get together planned tomorrow but hopefully it will be a quiet at home day for us all.

still no better here . bumble was up half the night with a temp of 40+ and it has been spiking today as well. Took him to the docs at 4 who declared virus, keep the calpol flowing....then not two hours later I noticed a couple of ulcers in his mouth, so I'm thinking maybe HFM? I thought he was off his food and drooling a lot because he has also been teething the last week. time will tell if it's HFM though as they will appear on his hands and feet in a day or so. Spent yesterday not able to move more than a foot away from him, and today pinned under him on the sofa, sweating, as he was like a little radiator.

someone please make it STOP!!!

ouch poor O tegan. Is there any way the cot can be lowered further? My DS1 leant out of his cot at about 10 months, but it was still on the middle setting. If it can't be lowered then perhaps take the pillow away? I thought pillows weren't recommended until they were older anyway? from a postural POV as much as a suffocation risk. Or, as hana suggests take the side off so it's less distance for him to fall! I hope you all have a good day tomorrow; I'm not sure I'll be on so HAppy Birthday for him

Glad your DC are feeling better Pinky, and yay Mimi at standing up

at the skinny jeans hana, although maybe not the crash diet that got you in them!! Good you feel better though.

Party sounds like good fun DW, but PMSL at your DH

nappyaddict, I was going to get in contact with jaunita about a planned get together; I'll let he know you're looking for her

All this talk of new perfume...I always buy the same stuff, so maybe time for a wee change. I always use my accumulated Boots points as a treat for myself at Crimbo so I'll see what they have.

I'm supposed to be out tonight but poorly bumble and onyl three hours sleep last night and I'm ready for bed already!

Ceebee74 · 27/11/2009 21:06

Daisy poor Bumble - sounds like maybe HFM as when DS1 had it last year, he had ulcers in his mouth before they appeared on his hands - poor boy couldn't even suck his beloved dummy

Tegan happy birthday to Owen tomorrow Lol at him trying to dive out of the cot....Hamster hasn't even tried standing up in his yet

Hana me and a colleague were just talking today about how we never get the kind of illnesses that put us of our food and lose weight - even having my gallbladder didn't stop me eating

Drs wow, S's birthday party sounds lovely - you can't beat the atmosphere of having lots of children enjoying themselves

Hamster got sent home from nursery today with suspected slapped cheek syndrome - he had really red cheeks which had disappeared by the time DH arrived to pick him up He was perfectly well and had a fab afternoon at home with DH without DS1 being around!! A 1 year old without teeth and red cheeks - first thing I would think of is teething tbh.

Big news here though - Hamster took his first steps with his walker today Only about 3 or 4 but a step in the right direction (if you excuse the pun )

tegan · 27/11/2009 21:28

we are thinking about putting it down to a bed (cotbed) and putting a bed guard with a folded duvet on the floor at least if he falls then he hasn't got so far to go.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/11/2009 21:44

yay for hamster and the walker Ceebee
