I like your thinking Suiledon, I aso outsourced to help the economy

Happy birthday to all birthday babies. I can't remember when I last posted. Becca got anti biotics on Sunday and was diagnosed with an ear infection. Sympathies to all those with poorly little ones and who are not feeling great themselves.

I am going out tonight I am wearing a dress if I dare I am way to sf conscious

Going for an indian then to a few pubs with some girl friends. I have not been out for so long but I feel awful as DH been at work all day and then I am going out and leaving him here. I will make him some cheese and biscuits before I go!!!

Becca is a real nightmare behaviour wise. It seems I have my work cut out. She screams when something is not going her way, and I mean real piercing strop scream. She is constantly being removed from things she should not have. DD1 was never like this. She is also a climber as the childminder found out
She is hard work and I am seeking a diagnosis of ADHD already

Right off to tidy and remove becca from the fire again (she has loads of toys). . . . . .

LackaDAISYcal · 14/11/2009 19:06

raises weary head up from the table, waves hello and disappears again.

the illness lingers on and on and on here; DD's turn now and I was up all night with her. DH decamped to the sofa so she spent the night wriggling in beside me. she has been an absolute nightmare today and was put to bed early as a result; illness or not, we had all had enough of the whinging and carrying on about not getting her own way by about lunchtime today. Of course I now feel guilty as she is poorly, but bloody hell, does she have to be ill soooooo noisily??????

will catch up soon!

hello all!
Happy birthday to all the little ones Love your cake Misdee - would it be too cheeky to ask for the recipe? Had given up on trying to think of a dairy/egg/nut free one for Bob - Sophie's looks yummy!!
Sorry for all the poorly peeps this weekend. Hopefully this will mean we will have happy healthy families for crimbo??!
I am feeling a little miserable as it is my big bro's 40th party tonight and i am here, at home by myself (well, there is a cat and a bobbins) Even dh is there! dh got a band together for my brother for the evening and the big suprise is my brother is the singer - all Smiths and Wedding Present. db has never sung infront of anyone before he's quite 'suave' compared to us (but lovely and gorgeous with it) so his mates and my mum are going to be suprised! have ordered dh to get someone to video bits for me (harumph)
And was meant to be making christmas cake this weekend but my pal got SF - bless her so will do it when she is all better.

Well hope you are all enjoying your weekends as best you can will the poorlinesses!
x

misdee · 14/11/2009 22:13

cake

i made 2 cakes, sandwhiched together with choc fake butter icing and topped with the same, and added some dairy free choc fake-smarties (think u can get them in the free-from sections)

make sure you line the tin well, as it will stick A LOT. its a very moist cake, and the texture is different to most sponges, but it tastes pretty good.

the icing is just cocoa, icing sugar and whatever non-dairy spread you usually use. just mix it up to a good texture for spreading over the top.

barbareebaa · 14/11/2009 22:21

BRILLIANT Thanks Misdee

sparkletoes · 15/11/2009 15:56

Hi all!

We have had a lovely pre-birthday weekend for Tinytoes. Can't believe he will be 1 tomorrow!!

Went to beach yesterday and had lovely lunch at Nardini's. Then this morning DH took DS1 to the cinema to see UP which he apparently loved and managed to sit through! His first ever cinema trip. I'm taking him to the SInging Kettle next month so was a good forerunner!

I had nice morning perusing the shops in peace as Tiny slept in his buggy.. Got a couple of Xmas presents too.. He still has a cold so think that helped as he is knackered. Not much of a birthday treat for him tho! Altho we did go out for lunch after and he ate quite a lot for first time in ages!

How are you all? Great cake making going on!! I was going to outsource the job to M&S but as I made DS1's cakes feel I kinda have to make effort! Will help on the ole home finances anyway and will be gluten free...

Hope u have a good night coolkat! Never mind the guilt I'm sure you can make it up to him! Your dd2 sounds just like our ds2!!!!!!

Back soon...

twinklingfairy · 15/11/2009 21:09

Bookmarking.
Just nothing exciting happening here.
Except for a Haauuge barney with DH yesterday All in front of a distressed DD. But no matter the times I said, 'stop DH. You are hankering after a fight and I ain't biting'
I very stupidly bit and it blew up horrendously!!

But today was lovely, he came swimming with us, willingly! Norm I have to fight, whine and then huff till he submits.
Or just ask my dad. Who loves it but is not available every weekend.

Anyway.
I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do with myself tonight
Telly is poo.
DH is 'knackered' I only left him with the children for an hour!

PinkyMinxy · 15/11/2009 21:50

Hi all

Glad Soph ahd a good birthday, Misdee, and well done on the cake! I've made vegan cakes before and I've found it tricky to get right.

Sparkle sounds like a lovely weekend! Have a great day tomorrow.

Happy birthdya to any I've missed!

all still quite peaky here. Taking DS to the docs to see if he's fit for school tomorrow. I don't want him to be away for too long, but they all have horrid coughs I'm a bit worried of chest infections, which is a common after effect, apparrently.

Have a fab evening Coolkat!

Love to all.

Am currently googling for wooden cookers/kitchens. MIL is stumping up for one for our three for christmas. SHe's such a star. We don't have much space and I'm very tempted to get the Moulin Roty one,but then they wouldn't have a sink as we can't get both. Would they miss a sink? Or just use the regular kitchen one anyway? Sorry talking to myself again.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/11/2009 22:10

Pinky, I got the vertbaudet kitchen which looks lovely in the catalogue (still in box waiting to be built) but tis pink! Maybe if you painted it? I'm half considering painting the one I have as DD said she wants a "boy's kitchen" 2.5 yo and she already is conditioned that pink is for girls and primary colours are for boys

sounds like a lovely weekedn sparkles; Happy Birthday to DS2 for tomorrow as I won't be on till late....oh and M&S do a GORGEOUS gluten free chocolate cherry cake

you couldn't get to the party barbs. could you not have taken bob with you? At least for an hour or so?

for the argument twinks, but at least he is showing some remorse by the swimming thing. I hope it's cleared the air and things are better.

Well after two days of the most horrendous swollen mouth and glands (was googling mumps this morning as I was sooo swollen and sore), the glandy thing has gone down a bit and I now have the streaming nose thing . If the course of bumble and DD's illness is anything to go by, I'll have this for a few days before starting with the hacking cough...oh joy . They are both much much better today thankfully, although still coughing.

Had a huge clear out today, getting stuff organised for the table sale we are doing next weekend. Fingers crossed we can clear some junk and make a bit of money at the same time...after all we need to eat on Christmas Day

PinkyMinxy · 15/11/2009 22:40

Thanks for that Daisy I'll have a look. DS is quite stoical about the pink thing- just as well since he's outnumbered!

Hope you feel better. I had a thing a bit like that a while ago- GP described me a as a bundle of infection- nice! Even had swollen gums. But he gave me antibiotics for the ear infection I had alogside the rest and I think they cleared eveything else up at the same time.

Sorry I'm missing people's posts. Hugs to those who are stuck in/having strife with DH's.
I'm so tired at the mo I don't ake it all in.

Left the cabbage next to the tv today as I went into the sitting room in the middle of making dinner. Took me aages to find it AT least I didn't take it to the bathroom with me or something!

LackaDAISYcal · 15/11/2009 23:20

good luck for tomorrow hana; wishing you lots of mental strength xx

lol at misplacing the cabbage; I find random things all over the house here as well...latest was a pair of socks in the fridge

and eeeeeeek here. I think bumble has worms Have dosed the older two but need to see the doc for bumble as the meds I have can't be given to under 2's.

I blame the sandpit at stay and play as he likes to eat the sand.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/11/2009 23:21

and lol, meds are form a previous DS1 infection....not MY medicine personally you understand

Tinkerisdead · 16/11/2009 08:40

Morning all, daisy arghhhh to the worms, I remember having them when i was little utterly horrendous! I dread the day DD gets them.

hana good luck at relate and sorry for your row with DH twinks he can join Rutho and I's DH's in the knob knob knob queue if you like.

I've got the most boring day, waiting for tesco delivery and thats it. I was meant to go to softplay with a friend who lives in another town but its clashed with my tesco delivery...and I really need food. we have nothing, and i mean nothing in the house. To the point that I actually defrosted the freezer as it was empty!

Happy Birthday to anyone I've missed. xxxxx

ellielou02 · 16/11/2009 09:14

LadyBuzz · 16/11/2009 09:31

Happy Birthday tinytoes.

Sorry to hear about your arguments Twinks.

J is poorly bless him, full of cold poor little thing, snotty nose, nasty cough etc etc. Probably a good thing he didn't have his boosters last week! Good news is his impetigo is clearing up and DS1 seems to have escaped (crosses fingers).

Hope all the poorly babies are feeling better today.

hana good luck for todays session.

sparkletoes · 16/11/2009 10:05

Hi ladies!

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! TInytoes seems loads better today so that is a bonus!

Love the sound of that cake Daisy will def keep it in mind! I am so pleased to see more gluten free stuff in shops as when I started it was nothing like this.. Glad you are feeling better and so {envy] of your clear out I SOOOO need to do that! Sympathy for the worms tho...

Also sorry to hear of argument Twinks

Those kitchens sound great Pinky, I also saw a really nice one in IKEA that my DS1 loved playing with (in the shop)!!

DW Snap! Am also awaiting the Tesco man...

Good luck Hana

Buzz hope J gets over cold soon.

Hope all other poorly babies/mums feeling better now too!

twinklingfairy · 16/11/2009 10:09

How is it going hana
I looked into relate for DH and I but they do not have it this far north!
I did find another company that offer a similar thing but chickened out of contacting them
DH and I blunder along quite well for long enough then we hit the rocks with a resounding crunch that always ends up with me thinking it would be better to leave than to stay and have the children see it
But after an argument, all is so calm that you think it will all be ok.
I stick myself back in my bubble.
Until it all kicks off again.

This month is a disaster!
I said before that it is or no money month.
Well, work decided to send DH away for 4 days, but he has to pay his own way and claim back.
But we haven't got any money!!!!
And they have still not paid him back for the last time they sent him away!! It has been over a month that we have been waiting for it.
Now, he has just called to say, they are sending him away Again!
2 days this time.
So that they can go over the accident Again.
They really want to point that finger of blame!
I only thank god that DH did not get the last promotion, therefore was not in a position to make any changes that should have been made, and that he was in no way responsible, or anywhere near, the accident.
But it is another 2 days away that we have to pay for and we honestly have Nothing!
We have just had to beg and borrow from FIL
And a good chunk of it will go into keeping DH whilst he is away, so no real benefit to us, IYSWIM

On the plus side. When all these expenses do come in, we are going to get a pretty packet
But that totally does not help us right now

Little wonder we are having huge bust ups!!

Rosa · 16/11/2009 12:24

DD1 ill again .... Seems that lots of the little ones who ( possibly) had Sf a month ago are going down with something . SO far we just have high temp and she says a bit of a sore ear so off to get that checked out this pm as dh at home today so not waiting until I am alone with both and have to hike with dd running a temp .
Daisy yeucch for worms I recall them with fear from when I was little.
DrsW&Sparkles I wish we had tescos or anybody that would deliver here our version is you have to go and dd a massive shop ( over £200) put it all in bags yourself and then get them to deliver but its usually 3 -5 days later ! SO we do that once or twice a year but since Minirosa has arrived we haven't been .....SO I guess that was a thing that I always did !
Ladybuzz Ellilou sorry about poorly dcs and hpe all the other sick babies are on the mend again soon.
twinkling that is terrible about your dh they cannot expect you to fork out if they haven't paid for the other trip can he not refuse until he has been paid stating that he just't doesn't have the dosh . Surely they could at least pre pay the accomodation ?

PinkyMinxy · 16/11/2009 12:45

Hi all
Sparkle we liked the Ikea one but I think we want twiddly knobs on it. There's a big jigs one that has a washing machine on the other side. we may go for that.It has to go in asmall space in the kitchen.

DD1 not good, temp, wheezing, crying, not eating. The worst thing about this flu is that it makes them soo grumpy.

Sorry to hear of more poorly little ones, but, quite franky EEWWWWWWW! Daisy! Our old cat had a tape worn once. Vet took it out by rolling it round a pencil..

Twinkshugs lovey, You sound up against it. DH and I have much fewer rows since I have been in therapy.

On that note- hope all has gone well/goes well today, Hana.xx

Pinkali37 · 16/11/2009 16:15

Hello

I was having a quandry and i thought who would know the answer and i thought ah ha MN lot..

We are going to Barcelona for 2 days and am taking Esme. What do i do about a car seat???????? I know in this country that she is allowed to travel on our knee in a taxi etc.. The problem being her forward facing car seat is far too big and heavy to take on a short haul flight for merely a taxi transfer. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

PinkyMinxy · 16/11/2009 18:16

Pinkali hello! I love Barcelona. I think you can hire car seats.

Good and bad news on the poorliness front here, as DS is now fit to go back to school but DD1 has tonsillitis. Glad it's not SF but poor thing. SHe's been given a throat spray which I had to wrestle into her mouth but it has worked!

twinklingfairy · 16/11/2009 19:47

rosa that is the one thing they do, at least pay for (his accomodation).
It is alright for some, he is having dinner at Frankie and Bennies tonight.
Jealous, moi?
Well, considering that we had corned beef hash for dinner, um, yeah!

All these poor ill LOs
Touch wood that mine are all ok.

MummyNic · 16/11/2009 21:49

Hi all, just a quick one as I can't remember everything I've just read (doesn't bode well for the return to work next Tues)...

Hana hope today went well for you. DH and I have had lots of problems - and I have (quite literally) wanted to stab him on a number of occasions (hence the diagnoses of pnd). I feel sorry for the people who have a baby to 'save' their relationship - def the worst thing you could do - we have never argued so much and I do wonder if we're right together now...

I digress!!

Took J to the docs (yawn.. not again!!) as he now has a horrid cough and it feels very chesty. Apparently it's not a chest infection (makes me convinced it's bronchiolitis again), but she look at his ears and the one that burst a few weeks ago is swollen and inflamed. She's given abs as a precaution which I'm to give him if I see the gunk but I've decided I'll give him them anyway - the gunk is likely to mean the drum has burst again - don't want it to get that bad again.

Happy birthday to all those celebrating.

big hugs to poorly babies and parents.
