Good news (crosses fingers and toes cautiously), J seemed loads better in himself after a huge nap. I almost thought I'd imagined it!! But... He's coughing and found it hard to bf but his breathing seems a little easier so maybe, as this is day 3, he's reached the peek.

So will hold fire for now and see how he is during the night. Won't hesitate in ringing doc - our A&E is a nightmare as the children's bit is in another hospital without an A&E. The A&E is in a 'Super hospital' and, whilst they do have a children's ward, the one they open for bronchiolitis and has several baby wards, is in the hospital he was born in. Don't think I could face being transfered and messed about. So will rely on the Generally Pointless for now...

Thanks for the advice ladies. Nighty night, hope we get some sleep....

Happy Birthday to Soph and Guggi

Rutho I know you will probably have made your decision by now but even if you sent Finbo to nursery, chances are they will send him home at the first sign of diaorrhea anyway so you could end up starting the class and not finishing it! My nursery has a policy of 2 'loose' nappies and the baby has to come home - and can't go back for 24 hours. In fact, Hamster got sent home on Wednesday afternoon for that very reason and got to spend a day with daddy yesterday He seemed perfectly well so wondered if it was teething....

Also, worringly, he seemed a much happier baby than he does when DS1 is around - makes me a bit to think that the way DS1 is with him (i.e.in his face all the time) is making him unhappy.

Nic glad J was better last night - hope he had a good night and is even better this morning.

Ellie about your friend - what an awful situation.

Feel about you all baking your own cakes - I have ordered mine from a bakery!!

Hi to everyone else

LadyBuzz · 13/11/2009 08:47

Happy Birthday soph & guggi.

Sorry to hear about all of these poorly babies, hope they all get better soon.

mummynic i'm hypermobile in my hips and shoulders so i'm with you on the party tricks

yorky massive congratulations to you

Had a mental week here with work and house viewings - another 2, everything is crossed! and I am sick of cleaning for said viewings!

Hi to everyone, sorry if I have missed anything vital.

Cricri · 13/11/2009 09:39

Glad some of the poorly babies seem to be on the mend and hope everyone got a decent night's sleep.
It's just one thing after another here - I've just had a phone call from nursery and they think E might have hand foot and mouth disease She's had a bit of a rash for the past couple of days but I put it down to teething and was just seeing how things developed as she's had skin flare-ups before which the doctor has said were minor. However, since yesterday she's had clusters of spots on her knees mainly but also on the palms of her hands. She's not been herself this week but she's had a cold and also seemed to be teething, although those symptoms could be down to the HFM thinking back... Nursery said they'd had one case in another room. She's fine in herself (I've been checking her temp every day) although a bit whingy and slightly subdued. I'm going to take her to the GP this afternoon just to get him to have a look. I know he can't do anything if it is HFM but it would be useful to know. Feel a bit bad for leaving it now
Ellie Sorry to hear about your friend, hope this latest episode is something minor but it must be very worrying
Mummynic So pleased J is on the mend, hope he continues to improve.
Rutho How is F today?
Hope everyone else is OK.

Rosa · 13/11/2009 12:31

mummynic glad J seems better hope it continues.
Ladybuzz how is the job going ?
re sf jab we have the novatis one here and they are saying it has the thing in it that is banned that might harm your immune system ... NO idea if its scandal or true ...
Will wait and see if and when the time comes round as they have only just started the vacc here.
Daisy* ouch - Minirosa has 1 tooth but she can bite on it as I held a bit of orange too close yesterday and I am dreading it when she gets more and she starts biting me !
Hope snotty bumble and dd feela bit better soon.
Ellilouhope you friend has is ok - poor thing.
Right must christmas shop ....

Rosa · 13/11/2009 12:32

Opps forgot to wish guggi and soph a happy birthday.....

PinkyMinxy · 13/11/2009 13:13

Hello all

Happy Birthdya babies!!

Miisdee glad to hear Soph's leg thing is nothing sinister.

Mummynic hope J had a good night.

Rutho I wonder if you have had to come home. Firends here have to take their babies home for 48 hours if they have the plopps.

No ploppy botties here but plenty of coughing and throwing up. Mimi is quite miserable poor thing.

Daisy Mimi has a terrible habit of biting me when she has finished.

Ellie sorry to hear abouit your friend.x

MummyNic · 13/11/2009 13:23

Happy birthday!!!

Took J to the docs - his chest is clear (as it so often is with bronchiolitis) and breathing is a lot better. Doc says it's a virus and is a bit too old for bronchiolitis (!). I still think that's what it is, and he's certainly not too old to have it!! Anyway, it looks like the peek was yesterday so it'll be a cough for a week or two now.. Once the snotty nose finally goes... Where does it all come from?!!

Cricri that sounds awful, hope E is ok. Let us know what gp thinks.

LB - great isn't it? The faces people make when I pull my foot out to the side and up to my face (used to suck my big toe to really freak friends out)are hilarious. Men seem to smile and I'm sure we know what they're thinling....!!!

sparkletoes · 13/11/2009 13:24

Hi all,

Sorry to hear of all the other poorly bairns . My DS1 is better but DS2 still suffering he has been sleeping for 3 hours now and have checked him twice.. I need to go out this afternoon but am leaving it to last min to wake the poor lad..

Hope Pinky's DS is ok.

Cricri my DS1 had HFM at nursery, it is not pleasant but not too bad either. It's highly contagious tho so if she has it the nursery prob won't allow her back til it clears up (crusts over).

Hope everyone else is ok too or at least gets better soon. Winter eh, lots of new bugs to battle with..

Happy Birthday to Soph and Guggi !!

Will try to find the list and add Tinytoes..

Speak of the devil... laters!

ruthosaurus · 13/11/2009 14:19

Hi all and thanks for wishes, am illicitly MNing from work so can't stay on long (in case they hunt me down) but Finbo is spending day with some of his many grandparents. DH has been as much us as a chocolate fireguard and didn't help at all - apparently organising alternative childcare when Finbo is ill is my job. So this morning I called sleepy but saintly inlaws as early as humanly poss, cancelled with nursery, showered and dressed and titivated, packed change bag, clothes and toys bag, food bag for Finbo, gave him his breakfast and got him dressed, shoved him into the car, drove him to the shops for baby yogs and jars and whole milk and and and, and then drove him to the ILs half an hour away, where I found that the pram was broken.

DH got up, ironed his shirt, had a shower and then said that he could not help with Finbo as he had to be in work by 9:30 and as he had been slow getting up was in too much of a rush to look after him while I got dressed, so I got dressed on the landing while gurning at Fin entertainingly through the bars of his baby gate.

And he wonders why I'm such a moody bitch sometimes.

suiledonne · 13/11/2009 14:24

Misdee Happy Birthday to Soph today. Hard to believe our babies are one already.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Guggi is having a great day so far.

misdee · 13/11/2009 17:33

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Soph is having lots of fun today, and had a lovely lunch with daddy and me, and is now going to dem, olish her fave tea of spag bvol and her birthday cake.

Happy birthday to Guggi as well

Cricri · 13/11/2009 19:45

Misdee Happy birthday to Sophie Glad she's having a lovely day. Happy birthday to Guggi too - sorry, I forgot to wish our two babies happy birthday earlier.
Well, the GP confirmed that it is HFM that E has. His two children had it last week so he was very familiar with it! Apparently they caught it at their nursery and when I called E's nursery to confirm the diagnosis this evening the manager said some of the children at our nursery also attend the same nursery as the GP's children so it's obviously doing the rounds. Their policy is not to exclude children with HFM and the NHS Direct site says that there is no need to keep them off school/nursery unless they're feeling unwell. However, I did go and pick up E before lunch because they said she wasn't settling and also she's got a large ulcer underneath her tongue. However, once back at home she was fine and her appetite is coming back despite the ulcer so that is good news. The GP said there was nothing to be done apart from keep her dosed up with Calpol/Ibuprofen so I'll keep doing that.
Rutho at your DH for his attitude re F. Because of course you don't have a job to go to as well do you Hope you give him a good talking to tonight!
Glad all the other babies seem to be on the mend and hope everyone has a good weekend

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2009 20:49

prob too late, as you have kept fimbo off anyway, but all the nurseries we have used it;s been 48 hours after last D or V. And tbh, even if you send them in, they WILL have a nasty poo or vom and you'll get called to come and get them, so not worth the hassle Boo hiss to your DH though; he could have been more helpful

DH has been off work today so no MNing for me...it was easier to do it surreptitiously from work, lol

Happy Birthday to Guggi and Soph

sorry to hear about E's HFM Cricri. DD had it over the summer, but it was a pretty mild case with her; only one or two blisters on her fingers and toes.

ellie, so sorry to hear about your friend

bumble almost back to his usual self today. Still has hacking cough but nose isn't streaming and temp just fine. From what you say though mummynic, he could have the cough for a while yet though, as it is most certainly bronchiolitis that he has. DD has it for sure now as well and has the high temp and hacking cough now. Odd about your doc saying "too old" for it. As I understand it the virus that causes it attacks everyone, it's just that it usually only manifests as bronchiolitis in babies and young children becuase of their teeny tiny airways.

I have something going on with my mouth/throat. It feels like something has stripped the coating from the inside of my mouth and teeth (if that makes sense) and the underside of my tongue hurst like hell and feels raw...and if I stick my tongue out or up to the roof of my mouth, my frenulum really stings and i have the most awfulo bone crushing fatigue.

MonkeyMargot · 13/11/2009 21:04

Hi all. Sorry to hear of poorly babies and mummies (lacks). Happy birthday soph and guggi.
We are also the house of the sick. The plum has had a hacking cough for a month, been to G.P who says it isn't on her chest so nothing to be done. She quite regularly coughs so hard she throws up, which is horrible. Other than that she is in good spirits. She also had horrendous diarrhea (can't spell it) today.
DH and I just getting over the flu. Still feeling poo....
And it's raining like buggery. A good friend's wedding tomorrow, hoping we don't all get blown away..
Birthday cakes - I have outsourced to local cake making lady who is far better at this than me....Rutho ooh I bet you were cross with your DH this morning. The blighter.

MonkeyMargot · 13/11/2009 21:07

Lacks what or where is one's frenulum?

Ceebee74 · 13/11/2009 21:18

Monkey I like your description of 'outsourcing' to the loal cake making lady - I think that is how I will describe it too - I have outsourced to a bakery Ds1 has always been a cough/puker - still is now. It is horrible and many the time we have sat there listening to him cough and waiting for the inevitable to happen

Daisy poor you - sounds pretty nasty and the fatigue must be a killer - get to bed!!!

Rutho yay for grandparents - wish I had that support Definitely the best thing for Finbo but grr to your DH (although my DH is of a similar nature and it frustrates the hell out of me....like only his job is important). Anyway, this week I dragged him back from his jolly trip away to look after Hamster yesterday

Glad the birthday girls have had a good day today

chocolategal · 13/11/2009 21:28

Hope soph & guggi have had nice days.
We too have a house of sick people, DH & I have now joined DS with the cold.
Catch up properly tomorrow, just in from work so off to bed.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2009 21:35

Monkey, did you sleep through all the tongue tie discussions when the LO's were babies? ...in general it's any bit of tissue connecting bits of us to other bits of us, but specifically it's the bit of tissue under your tongue

I have my second wind! We're watching The Ring and I'm scared witless so hiding behind my laptop screen

MummyNic · 13/11/2009 21:40

Daisy I'm not sure what the doc was thinking about his comment. We are right of course - but we have t'internet at our disposal - he only has years of training / experience!!!

I outsourced my cake too. Take a look:

s631.photobucket.com/albums/uu36/Nichola-Bryce/

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2009 21:55

I also outsourced bumble's cake.....to the good people at Nestle

LadyBuzz · 14/11/2009 08:54

suiledonne · 14/11/2009 09:38

Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes. Not Looking forward to the party tomorrow. I have decided to support local business and ordered the cake from the bakery in the village. Much better for the economy.

MummyNic · 14/11/2009 09:49

Morning LB got you on fb - t'is me!!!

That's not good about the impetigo!!!

J's nose is awful today, 2 rivers of snot that need wiping every 3 mins - where does it all come from?

dh and I aren't feeling at all well either. Not good as have 2 birthdays this weekend and (because J was ill) I haven't got cards / presents... Going to have to drag my sorry ass up to town... Plan on walking in the gale - ought to blow the cobwebs away... I just am not motivtaed.
