As we will still be on this when the first birthdays roll round.

I'll try and find the list to remind us all.

right, off to watch telly; will catch up properly tomorrow.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AFingerofFudge · 11/11/2009 21:59

yorky big congrats to you and your family. How are you feeling? when is your due date??
dw sorry, it may have been said already, haven't had time to read everything, but the reaction to the milk - could it be a reaction to having the cold rather than a general reaction? I know you're supposed reduce the amount of milky things you give to kids of any age if they have a bad cold as it just gets caught in the phlegm(sorry!!) and congests them up even more.
twinks it's a pet hate of mine to be in debt to someone else or them to me. I hate it because it can cause all sorts of bad feelings and guilt for mentioning it etc etc. But I totally agree you were right to do it, you cant just "forget" a debt, because chances are, noone actually does forget.

Sympathies too to chocgal daisy and everyone else with DC's with colds etc. I am especially sympathetic tonight as M has come down with his first proper cold. I know I'm lucky to get this far with him, but he was off form yesterday evening and so I knew something was up, although he had no temperature and was eating etc. Anyway, this morning he seemed ok but I'm not joking he must have sneezed about 40 times during the course of the morning. He went for a nap around 11.30, but woke after only and hour, he normally would have 2 hours or so. So I sat him up for his dinner, as I did so, he did the most enormous SNEEZE and these two HUUUUUUUUGE candlesticks of snot (sorry again!!) appeared out of his nose.
Cue lots of crying (from him obviously, not me)and since then he has been snotting and whingeing and sneezing and crying ever since. Gaaahh! I know I'm not going to get much sleep tonight. I haven't given him any Calpol yet, as he doesn't seem to be hot, but he is clearly suffering. Oh well, hopefully it will pass quickly.

Sorry, don't know why I did that graphic account of M's cold as though i'm the only parent who has had a child with a cold oops!!

Should be labelling stuff for our local NCT sale on Saturday really. Toys and equipment. Can't be bothered to do the labelling though. I have it all out on the rug ready to do, it's been there for the last hour. The thing is, I got it all out last night too, it sat there until 11.30pm untouched, and then I put it back in the bags again. Can't do the same tonight!!!

Oh, just though, sorry to go on about ityorky, but I still have heard nothing about the SS.

Right. hi to all. Am off to label (yeah right)
xx

AFingerofFudge · 11/11/2009 22:11

oops, sorry, don't know why it posted it twice

twinklingfairy · 11/11/2009 22:17

Oh I am a terrible one for shooting my mouth off, especially if I am am in real need of the money.
That £16 has paid for a big bag of coal!
Wish I had the fire on tonight. I am freezin!

Any chance of a copy of your pattern daisy?
Or directions as to where to find it?

ruthosaurus · 11/11/2009 22:20

Hi all,

Sorry not to be about recently, but Hallowe'en is such a busy time, you know: pumpkins to carve, spells to cast, broomsticks to get through their MOTs...

Big hugs (from a distance, and with lashings of antibacterial handwash) to poorly people, esp chez Pinky. And Ceebs, what with the spew incident and the family stress, you have my sympathies.

Congrats, Yorky, I am secretly ever so jealous but might leave it another year or so. Way to go - I am v impressed that anyone is getting any action and here you are with proof . Best wishes for a smooth and uneventful pregnancy and birth.

Hi MM and Choc, long time no squeak. How the heck are you?

Twink,I can only admire your bravery - I would love to be able to do something like that. Instead I mourn an increasingly long list of possessions I have lent to people and will probably never see again.

Finbo's birthday went off without a hitch apart from the disgusting weather and the fact that my best mate got the venue wrong and missed the party. Ah well - at least no-one punched anyone else. I seemed to spend at least half the day running round worrying but I think that's par for the course! The photos are nice but they make it look like DH and I have separated as we are not together in any of them - apart from the blowing out of the candle, which was lovely. On his actual birthday we went on the Wheel of Sheffield which is my favourite indulgence - I know it's pricey but I would go on it every week if I could.

My scan appointment - for possible ovarian cysts, not a baby, goshdarn it - has come through for next Tuesday at 5. I am so glad it was v quick and just want to get a diagnosis of some kind as when I have good days I think I must have imagined it and on bad days I am convinced I am dying. Nothing worse than a raging hypochondriac.

DH has the spews so is watching King Arthur at a safe distance with a bowl next to him, and Finbo is probably teething again. He has 4 teeth now and we are waiting on 2 that look like they are about to break through. I am off to bed in a bit before the trouble starts...

Nighty night then.

Cricri · 11/11/2009 22:29

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies, siblings and other halves - we're all having a rough time of it atm aren't we?! Hope they all get better soon. We've not escaped here either as E has had a cold since Monday and is also teething - cue one very unhappy little girl this afternoon It's awful seeing them suffer and not being able to do anything apart from give cuddles and Calpol!
Congratulations Yorky on your lovely news! When is your EDD? Sometime in July?
Belated Happy birthday to all the babies I've missed - I don't know where the past week has gone.
Hello to MM and Sparkle, lovely to see you again
Rutho Glad F's party went well and that you all had a good time. Good luck for your scan next week and do let us know how you got on.
DrsWife So pleased things are looking up for you with meeting other mums and the genealogy group, that's great. Hope DH stuck to his promise not to go to golf too
Hello to everyone else!

chocolategal · 11/11/2009 23:04

Argghh! My boy only went to bed at 9 and we have been up already. He is now in bed with me draped over my legs sleeping. Full of snot
I haven't heard him cry like that since the first night at home, typical that DH has chosen tonight for the 1st time in weeks to meet his mates for a drink!
He will have to go in spare room if I keep DS in with me.

Hope everyone else with poorly wee ones get a decent night

MummyNic · 12/11/2009 09:43

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who is sleep deprived with a snotty baby. Only James' second proper cold but he's making up for it!!! After finally settling him at 10pm he woke at 230, 330 and 630....

Big hugs to those with the dreaded oink oink. I asked about being vaccinated as I'm still bf and hoped to protect James. Doc said it would work bt the stuff they mix it with would also pass to him and he wouldn't recommend it... Gutted.

ruthosaurus · 12/11/2009 09:44

Morning all, sending loads of healthy vibes to all poorly folk and a virtual lemsip/calpol/bucket to anyone who needs it. Isn't this time of year rotten?

DW, forgot to say "well done" yesterday - I bet it feels good to have made contact with other mums and the genealogy group in your area. Where are you based? I have the brains of a lolcat.

I had a big argument with DH this morning as I have had to take a lieu day today, because I am working all weekend, to take Finbo to his 1 year review. I was going to do nice things like do some sewing and have a bath but the way DH said "You have a day off - you've got the holiday time, after all. Do what you want. I'm looking forward to looking after the boy this weekend" set my teeth on edge. He is not feeling well and I am rather ashamed of myself for getting cross but there was this martyred edge to it that got right up my nose. Now I feel guilty for working this weekend (no choice - I am teaching a course), guilty for taking the time off and guilty for even thinking of not doing all the household chores and baking a sodding pie.

Sorry for me post. I am a loon.

ruthosaurus · 12/11/2009 09:47

X-post, Mummynic - v sorry to hear about bad night. YOur doc's advice sounds a bit weird as I thought babies and pg women were getting vaccinated. Just going onto NHS direct to check for you, but it sounds like bollocks. Maybe. Back in a min...

How is your boy, Chocgal - did you get any sleep?

ruthosaurus · 12/11/2009 10:04

Right - back from the hell that is NHSdirect. The advice seems to be that kids and babies aren't getting the jab as they aren't "at risk" unless they are also in another "at risk" group e.g asthma, immune system disorders etc. But they ARE giving the jab to all pg women so it's not that the jab is harmful in itself. Your doc may be talking crap about the harmfulness about the other ingredients in the jab as apparently in 1976 there was a risk of a particular neurological condition but this has not been evidenced since. Here is a link to the Q&A page, anyway, seeing as I'm there anyway!

Tinkerisdead · 12/11/2009 10:07

Just dropping in to say hello, sorry for all the poorly peeps. Cant linger as i have another thread about family tree stuff and some lovely mumsnetters have helped me with some ideas so off to do some more of that.

rutho you have my sympathies, my DH is becoming a real knob at times. After getting annoyed at Golf, last weekend I went to get my hair done and he took DD to his dads. they had a lovely time with some other kids, ate hotdogs in pasta and an entire mint cornetto... he was relishing at what a fab time they had. Well, I'd have a fab time too every day if she ate hotdogs and cornetto . Not pissed off at the treat for DD, merely the way he makes out its so easy when actually someone else did the cooking, the clearing away and the playing with her. knob knob knob!

ruthosaurus · 12/11/2009 10:33

Totally with you on that. Mine said "Look, I know looking after Fin is a full-time job in itself, and I know it's hard work and no fun-" I interrupted rather rudely at this point to say that it was fun but tiring and the opposite of relaxing and he cut me off with "Well, I know whose job I'd rather be doing". Oh yeah? When was the last time he had to wrestle someone who was trying to wipe faeces on him, eh?

And the feeding thing is SO true - he had him on Saturday morning and actually forgot to feed him or even give him a drink of water for three hours.

Knob knob knob knob knob!

I resent the implication that childcare is always easy and enjoyable when he can't even remember not to starve the baby...

Grr.

Rosa · 12/11/2009 13:04

sorry about all the sick babies ( and parents). Deepest sympathy - after both of mine with sf ( which we found about after) it aged me about 10 years ! Hope they all get better soon.
we still have only 1 tooth - the top one no sign of any else - she really is going to look funny as it is growing quite fast !!!
Right off to read more.....

MummyNic · 12/11/2009 18:43

rutho - thanks. Suspect doc is talking rubbish..... Maybe he doesn't want someone without health problems 'jumping the queue' as it would be purely to protect J.

HELP J has gone downhill loads today. I have a very. very strong suspicion that he has bronchiolitis again. Bear in mind he was hospitalised twice last year.... I have reread the symptoms (to see what it's like for a baby rather than newborn) and I am convinced he's got it. I also have a sore throat which I had the 2 times he had it.

So what to do? It's proving hellish already - listless, whingy, unsettled, caa't sleep, too snotty, can only sleep lying on me. Breathing is getting more rapid / difficult.

I shall def take him to doc tomorrow, although it may be tonight if he gets much worse.

I don't want to panic but we nearly lost him last year.... I know he's much bigger and stronger and there is little they can do for him. I must remember that, he'll need help if the breathing gets worse though....

Thank God I'm not back at work yet!!!

misdee · 12/11/2009 18:55

mummynic, if he is breathing rapidly nowm then get him seen tonight.

soph is still crakly and wheezing, i am taking her back to GPO tomorrow, as its a week sicne it started and am thining she may need some extra help.

we were at orthapaedics today, and fianlly have some answers regarding soph's legs. she is hyperflexiable/hypermobile, and has low tone. it shouldnt be an issue, but doc advised starting her in Gym lessons when she is older, and just taking car as she may be probne to dislocating joints,.

MummyNic · 12/11/2009 20:11

Hi misdee, I am considering the docs tonight after he wakes...

I am hypermobile in my knees, hips, shoulders, elbows & wrists. I could do amazing things in the gym as a child and have some great 'freaky' party tricks I can do with my legs. I sit in a funny way that no one else seems to be able to do. I don't have any problems apart from the odd ache after party tricks (old age!) - so I don't show off anymore. Handily though, you can't put me in an arm lock!!!

Yorky · 12/11/2009 20:52

Hello again all, sorry its been a while - or it seems it trying to catch up with everyone.

I hope you're all feeling better soon - big and little people, Ive got a bit of a cold but apart from that we seem the healthiest on here! Can't find a reason for DD having 2 bad nights in a row, she doesn't seem to have teeth issues
Thanks for all the congratulations, May doesn't seem very far away, I'm mostly excited when I'm not having a horrible day like yesterday thinking if I can't cope with 2...' And I'm still dreading telling DB and SIL as they had a mc since we fund out I was pg

Rutho - I keep realising how lucky I am with DH, he still won't let me go and do his job when I need a break from the kids by lunchtime!

Mummynic - sounds scary, get J seen sooner rather than later, especially with his history,

Secret santa - has he still not sent out the 2nd batch of emails, he's been bringing work home in the evenings but he ought not neglect his MNing! Will stand over him till its done tomorrow as he has a days leave to recover from tonights meal

suiledonne · 12/11/2009 21:00

Yikes. So many long posts since I last checked in. Sending lots of good wishes to all those with poorly little ones and OHs at home. And extra wishes to the poor mums who have to handle it all.

Yorky Congratulations on your announcement. Best wishes for a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Counting down the hours now to my Guggi's first birthday. Friday the 13th - unlucky for some but not for us She is the proud owner of 12 teeth now and is teething again. She'll definitely be up for a slice of cake at her party on Sunday.
I'm taking her and dd1 out for lunch tomorrow to celebrate the birthday as DH will be away until tomorrow night so no point in a party at home tomorrow.

Finding it hard to believe that one year ago I was sitting in front of the fire with DH wondering if the baby would ever arrive but definitely not in labour and then the high speed drive to the hospital at midnight when I realised things had moved rapidly from a few twinges to full on labour in an hour!

Not sure I could go through it again.

MummyNic If you are in any doubt about the breathing then I would be heading for A&E, speaking from experience with dd1's asthma.

Misdee Glad the appointment led to good news. Soph will have party tricks like MummyNic when she is older.

Hi to anyone I've missed.

Oblomov · 12/11/2009 21:03

Sorry to hear of all those with poorly little ones.
We have all been ill here, with sickness & diahorea bug.
I had flu jab and swine flu jabs yesterday - 1 in each arm - they recommend diabetics to have it, so me and dh had both. I now feel rotten - which is norm because I think it gives you a tiny dose of the actual flu. My arms ache. Off to bed.

Hope we all feel better soon.

ruthosaurus · 12/11/2009 21:04

Hi all!

Mummynic, call the doc tonight - they should come out to a sick baby. If not and breathing worsens I would be down the old A&E (but then I do live 5 mins from it).

Misdee, hope Soph gets better soon or that you get some more help for her.

DH has had D&V for the last couple of days but is now getting better but now Finbo has had explosive D today. Nursery won't take him tomorrow, will they? Oh dear.

What is with all these germs? Did I miss a memo?

misdee · 12/11/2009 21:05

i'm off to bake second part of sophs cake.
or just mnet some more and do it tomorrow lol;

LackaDAISYcal · 12/11/2009 21:44

Oh lord; saw a woman tryng to latch a teeny tiny baby on in sainsbos cafe today and came over all unneccesary and wistful for another one......am ovulating though so that explains that!

Oh they are all going trough it a bit at the mintue aren't they? poor babies. bumble more himself today, and has learned a new skill of turning toy boxes over, pushing them to the shelves and climbing on to use as a prop to reach contraband. DD has it now though and has been miserable. I tookt them to sainsbos for lunch as I needed to get out of the house...how sad is that.

misdee, glad there is nothing more sinister going on with Soph. We do a gym minis class with DD; would that be any good for her?

rutho, I so get where you are coming from...my lovely otherwise DH has a habit of saying things like "I've only got another four loads of washing to do until the basket is empty", like I never do any washing at all. I know he doesn't mean anything by it, but it gets right on my tits!

talking of which bumble has taken to biting me . I'm getting terrified to latch him on. Serves me right for realising he was all bunged up as I was about to feeed him and started trying to de-snot his nose as he lay there next to my exposed boob...he retaliated by chomping down hard and thought my reaction was funny and now keeps doing it...the little, erm, angel

Can't remember what esle....will catch up later.

knackered so off to bed.

ruthosaurus · 12/11/2009 21:52

DH is insisting we take F to nursery tomorrow even though he has diarrhoea because DH has a busy day on. I am teaching a course this weekend and don't know what to do for the best. He won't let me phone nursery to check their D&V policy as it'll be a dead giveaway. I'm screwed either way: I send a sick child to a nursery that doesn't need an outbreak and could possibly kick us off their books for being so evil OR I phone in "sick" and cancel a course when my boss is already on my case big-time and when 14 learners are depending on me to teach this course. But my baby is sick and I don't want all the other kids to get it and I don't want him to get worse... But my boss is a cow and out to get me at the moment...

I don't know what to do.

barbareebaa · 12/11/2009 22:36

Gah Rutho what a nightmare for you. I reckon you should follow your instincts tho - keep your boy at home. Easy for me to say but twatish boss - who's going to give a shite about her in 10 years? I am speaking out of turn - sorry xx
Sorry for all our poorly babies. Will and me have mostly been camped out on the sofa the last couple of days, i don't know what has been the matter - just a high temp, tired and needing a chest to lie against. I have enjoyed the extra cuddles! (but not the sad little face)
rutho again sorry for that. i just don't want you to feel bad about being at home if you want to be. I hope you work something out x
Yorky - congrats! I am thrilled and a bit jealous!! have you joined a new antenatal group?

ellielou02 · 12/11/2009 22:50

Gosh all these poorly people & babies, hope they are all better soon.
misdee I made Millies birthday cake too it was fun! Glad Soph is ok did you find out what was wrong with her when you had to go to A&E?
rutho I know we are meant to be 48 hours clear before we return to work? But that is D&V has finbo had alot of diarrhoea today cos really could be anything eg teeth? If he hasnt been sick I wouldnt worry too much IYSWIM as its not both, if he seems ok within himself and has only had a few episodes... Its awful having to make all these decision for the little people but comes with the territory I guess
obs I get my SF jab next week then will get my flu jab organised too.
Talking of housework, I had so many plans when DH went offshore this time and I have only managed one of my jobs on top of trying to keep the house in some sort of order and chasing Millie about the house and doing various school, dancing, swimming, guising, bonfire night, birthdays, runs I really do run out of time, the day just seems to go (ellie realises just how much time she had with 1 DD and didnt realise it at the time lol) wouldnt change it for the world though!
My friend who has cancer has been aken into hosp today, she has a swelling in her stomach and the are investigating it it may be a benign cyst but then again it may be another growth , just need to wait and see.
