Hello oh wise ladies!
hoping you remember me after long absence. Happy birthday to Bumble, Jay, James, Elise, Minirosa!
How is everyone doing? I really cannot believe our LO's are turning one. How fast this past year has gone! Especially when you compare it to how SLOWLY the 9 months of pregnancy went....

All is good here. The little Plum is still a big chubster who loves her grub. I've been back at work full-time since 3rd August, hence not much time for MN. It's all working out well so far - DH spent first 2 months caring for Plum 5 days a week. We now have a nanny 2 days a week (nanny-share with NCT friend - halves the cost!) to give him some time to do a bit of work. Am enjoying work, but do frequently wonder if I'm doing anything really well, IYKWIM. Everything is a compromise!

So can someone summarise any major events for me - the main headlines if you will? Anyone expecting again?

Have added Plum to the list below

1st November LackaDAISYcal's DS2 (Bumble),
Pinkali's DD
3rd November LadyBuzz DS2 (Jay)
3rd November AutumnLady DS
4th November Cricri's DD
5th November Rosa's DD (MiniRosa)
6th November MummyNic's DS
6th November ellielou02's DD2 (Millie)
7th November mum2bean's DD,
Betti's DS and Heartmum2Jamie's DS3
10th November Chocorange's DS
13th November Misdee dd4 (Soph)
13th November Suiledonne's DD2 (Guggi)
17th November MonkeyMargot's DD1 (Plumster)
19th November Yorky's DD
20th November Ceebee's DS2 (Hamster)
23rd November Chocgals DS (Ewan)
24th november barbareebaa's ds (william)
25th November DrsWife46 DD (sophie)
28th November Tegan DS1 (Owen)
29th November Toolly DC3, DS
9th December FingerofFudge's DS3

Just bumping the birthday list again as I keep having to scroll down

Happy Birthday Mummynic's DS and to Millie!

And to the Birthdya babies tomorrow- looks like it was a busy day last year!

Hi MokeyM, lovely to 'see' you. Sounds like you are busy. The nanny share sounds like a good idea.

Boy tights.. I just used to put DS in tights with baby legs over when it was really cold. Not sure there needs to be specific 'boy' tights for babies- but am willing to be persuaded. DH used to wear woolly tights under his long johns and jeans when he was working outside in winter!

Well the school fireworks display was fab. Mimi was happy enough in her sling, DS loved it but DD1 cried the whole time and DH had to take her for chocolate. It's funny, she liked it last year. Hopefully she'll enjoy it next year!

I'm up for going to the SHeffield soft play again and a monday is just fine for me.

AFingerofFudge · 06/11/2009 22:49

ok ok, while I'm waiting for Robbie Williams to appear on Jonathon Ross ( I love him!!) - (Robbie, not Jonathon ) I thought I'd upload a couple of new photos. One of all the boys and one of...... M wearing his tights!!
The only shop I can find boy specific tights is H&M, though any old tights will do. There's loads of navy ones around.

Welcome back MM!

off to settle on the sofa, should be going to bed, as am doing a nightshift tomorrow night -grrr..

ellielou02 · 06/11/2009 22:51

Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes on FB and here, Millie had a lovely day, loved all her new toys and her birthday cake
Happy Birthday babynic
Hi MM Phee is expecting my mind has now gone blank I cant think of anything else lol.
rosa glad you are all better after the SF
tegan how are your lot?
pinky the fireworks sound good.
vbab are you about? Who else is missing? I cant think I still have this bloody cold a week later, I think Millie had it for about 10 days so hopefully it will go soon.
We just had an open house here today I made a chocolate cake yesterday and iced it, it looked homemade to say the least but tasted nice, but my mil asked if I had put coco powder in and I replied yes she said what kind and I replied cadbury's drinking chocolate So now I no it real coco powder I need for next time

twinklingfairy · 07/11/2009 11:58

Just hopping on to bemoan the lack of a customer, again!
In fairness to her, this time she idid email in advance, only I didn't check until after.
Oh well, I will have to try again.

The fayre was a bit of a blow out for me.
I sold 2 of my comforters. And one of them was for a flippin dog!!
And I screwed myself by only selling them for £5, doh.

But I did get one daddy who arranged a time to make a necklace for his wife.
So a potential sale there I guess.

Ho hum. Feel a bit low.
No-one really wants my stuff.
Who can blame them when over the hall is the local cheapy jewellery place.
The stall was mobbed!!
Then they come to me and my cheapest item of jewellery is £30.
All my aprons but no-one really looked at them. A glance then a move on.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2009 16:31

just a quick post...

twinkling, try not to be too disheartened...it takes time to get onesself known. your stuff is lovely and I'm sure it will sell in the right venue

fudge, bumble wore tights last winter and probably will again this winter; it;s just getting to the tights cold stage. I didn't know H&M did boys tights though and just put him in DD's old self coloured or stripey ones!

Been for a photo session today.....£30 for a 15 min session and you get to take away a disc of all the images...certainly more purse friendly than the Venture. Although the kids were just warming up when it was over; will maybe book a double session next time! I've stuck some on FB if anyone wants to have a look!

MonkeyMargot....no doesn't ring any bells are you sure you know us????

Yorky · 07/11/2009 19:28

Mummynic - DH has put you on the list, you just need to send him your details!
Everyone else don't panic - he was going to send your e-mails last night but forgot we were at my brother's for a bonfire party! Should be with you later this evening.

Both kids are asleep already, but then DD was nearly asleep in her high chair! I could get used to this, especially as I have just recently got a run of orders from real customers (not friends)! Its taken 18months but suddenly seems to have picked up, which is lovely, but I've done my share of fairs where people do little more than walk past slowly - your time will come Twink, keep smiling.

Welcome back MonkeyMargot, nice to hear how Plum doing.
Who else have I forgotten? sorry, will re-read now as my memory makes a goldfish look good

misdee · 07/11/2009 19:28

can i ask for clear-breathing vibes for soph please.

soph was in hospital at around 6-7am yesterday as was struggling to breathe. and then was back until midnight with the same problems.

soph was unwell on bonfire night, not massivly so, just a bit of snot. i took her into my bed around 11pm. at 5am yesterday i noticed her temp was going up and she was breathing fast. i took her downstairs to get calpol, and saw how hard she was working to breath, so asked dh to call an ambulace whilst i got dressed and packed the nappy bag. ambulance crew werre v v v good, and got her on a nebuliser in the ambulance and blue-lighted us to a and e.

around 10am, sophs breathing was settled so we went home with inhalers and instructions to go back with any concerns. at 3pm i started having to give the inhaler hourly, but had to wait for dh to finish work, so finally got to a+e with soph breathing ok, but not 100%/ she wasnt in as much distresse3d as she was in the morning. the nurses wanted to monitor her longer before deciding on treatment, so for 90mins i didnt give her any inhalers. by 8.40 she was going downhill again. they started her on atrovent as well as the salbutamol, gave some more calpol as temp was rising. by 11pm, she was breathing normally, so we were sent back home again.

she has been pretty good so far today, has been a little rattly, but def more settled.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2009 19:42

misdee; poor Soph. Easy breathing vibes coming thick and fast.

Have they said what they think it is?

misdee · 07/11/2009 19:45

nope, no idea. she is a bit snotty but nothing major. once they give the inhalers her chest is clear, but when she is struggling its very noisey.

i think it was a combination of smokey fireworks, damp weather and a cold = asthma attack. but i am not a medic.

suiledonne · 07/11/2009 19:51

Oh misdee, sorry to hear about poor Soph. Sounds very like my dd1 when she has a cold-induced asthma attack. You did the right thing taking her back in. We have had to do it loads of times with dd.

Hope she is feeling a bit better now.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2009 20:01

poor thing; I hope she is better tomorrow

MonkeyMargot · 07/11/2009 20:49

misdee poor Sophie. Is there a history of asthma in the family? Fingers crossed she's on the road to feeling better.

Lacks just seen your photos on FB. They are truly stunning! What a gorgeous trio they make. And for £30!!

Right - got to get back to the highlight of my week - watching the X-Factor...

chocolategal · 07/11/2009 21:21

Aww, hope sophie is better tonight misdee
great pics daisy especially for £30, my dad is paying for a photo session for DS 1st birthday but I we won't get a disc of photos we will be charged a fortune for them I'm sure!
Hi monkey lovely to hear how the plum is doing

we have been to a firework display tonight and DS loved it! We stayed near the car incase we needed a quick getaway but no need.
I have my friends 3 year old DS staying tonight and so far so good but definately makes me think about wanting another DC. My hat is off to all you ladies with more than 1!

Right off to watch the end of xfactor, my favourite is changing every week!

Oblomov · 07/11/2009 22:30

Hello MonkeyM.
Hope DD is better Misdee.

barbareebaa · 07/11/2009 22:45

hello all
Sorry am getting left behind a bit I think!
Happy birthday to all the littlies I've missed
Misdee sorry to hear about Sophie. We had a similar experience a few weeks ago - W started with a cold on the thursday and then by the Saturday afternoon he was wheezing, short of breath, really struggling. dh was at work so phoned ambulance. They tried nebulisers and did hourly inhalers but it barely improved. they let us go the next day with steroid medicine and he improved. they thought (drs) that it wasn't asthma as such more a viral infection which is why the inhalers didn't work. I made an appt with our gp as I wanted a plan to prevent it happening again and he prescribed a steroid inhaler to be given when W starts with a cold to give his lungs a bit of help.
I hope Sophies recovering now. Hugs to you cos it's so scary.
Love to everyone else xx

LadyBuzz · 08/11/2009 14:33

misdee hope Sophie is feeling better today.

Daisy your photos are gorgeous. So cute!

Hi monkey good to see you.

Just been to gets J's first shoes so cute and so tiny. he is currently refusing to walk in them

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 15:15

Thanks LB, we're really pleased with them

I hope Soph is feeling better today misdee.

Happy Birthday yesterday for Heartmum's DS and any other DC

Had bumble at the emergency docs this morning due to a suspect rash on his bottom which is non blanching and little purple spots. He says its nappy rash, but it's not like any nappy rash I've seen before . Anyhoo he said he was more concerned by his chest as he has a nasty cough and is wheezing. Said it sounds like bronchiolitis, but his temp is fine and he is eating normally, and told me to take him to my own GP tomorrow. I had started a thread about the rash and I'm now being told to take him to A&E rather than wait till tomorrow, and although I know he isn't at the needing A&E stage of anything, I'm worried now that I'm being neglectful by not taking him? Common sense is starting to desert me! Sometimes MN makes you worry rather than reassure!! His cough sounds horrible though, poor wee thing.

DH is being a prize twunt at the minute and is spoiling for a fight. In true man stylee though, rather than come right out and say what's bothering him, he is nit picking(the untidyness is all MY fault apparently ) and disagreeing with everything I say then turning it round to say I'm following him round picking holes in what he is doing. He does this all the bloody time until I get fed up and say "Spit it Out". He is really irritable with the kids as well today. so, the spit it out speech has been delivered, we'll see what gives, although I'm inlcined to ignore him later, or go out. sorry, rant over; he is a fantastic and fine husband and father usually!

coolkat · 08/11/2009 19:14

Hi Ladies,

Who is this Monkey lady LOVELY to see you and hear how Plum is doing. X

Daisy remember me saying Becca poorly this week. Dark spots on legs and then a rash on her legs and nappy area appeared. Seemed to be Viral and she had high temp. Well this weekend has been a nightmare, lots of unsettledness and screaming crying. I took her this morning and she has an ear infection. She is a nightmare and I am strugging to get her to take the antibiotics. Had to take her to the emergency docs this morning and we had SIL, BIL, kids and MIL. coming for sunday dinner. Twas a nightmare. Dinner turned out ok though!!

I hope Sophie is feeling better Misdee. X

LB J obviously does not like his shoes! A sign of things to come. Give him a few months and get him some wellies all kids ove to wear wellies!!!

I am shattered and am going to go to bed really early.

Daisy, me and DH have been like that yesterday. I was so pissed off with him last night for his generally shitiness and crap attitude. Boy I have let him know. He has apologised however I am still as I know its all related to the Fire station politics. Rahhhh

Right that was rather long and pointless!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 19:25

sounds like a similar thing coolkat. I hope becca is on the emdn soon.

bumble has gone to sleep without having a bedtime feed and is really unsettled, so it could be a long night. his breathing seems much easier asleep than it did when he was awake, but his cough has given him a gravelly sore throat and he howls every time he coughs . Poor wee scone.

typical of men not to like shoes, LB. There must be an element of nature over nurture with these things because DD loves bags and shoes and beads (without any encouragement from me) and inspite of all the girly stuff lying around, bumble LOVES anything with wheels on and will sit for ages wheeling cars and trains back and forward across the floor.

suiledonne · 08/11/2009 19:49

Coolkat - hope becca is feeling better.

Still struggling with my friend's decision to give her new dd the same name as my dd2. She is home now with the baby and I would have been planning to call with a pressie next week but not sure I feel like it. I'm in an awkward situation now cos when she caught me by surprise I said I didn't mind but actually I do mind, a lot.

She was here only a few days before the baby was born and we were looking up names online. I even started a thread here under another name to help her. Never got the impression she had any intention of using the same name.

Makes me think we are not as good friends as I thought we were.

twinklingfairy · 08/11/2009 20:39

daisy me and DH have had a day of it too. You would think I would get used to it. He is like this every time he/we have to go away anywhere. He is going all the way to Manchester for 4 days. Well only 2 but it is gonna take him a day (at least 12hours. Arguments then about why they don't organsise flights, which are cheaper and less overtime etc) to drive there!
So he is a bit stressed but mega scratchy to boot.
Cue the children to not settle and him to make DD scream and I mean SCREAM by going in a grabbing a noisy toy off her.
methinks that didn't help anybody?!

Ho hum.

suiledonne I have to say I think she has been a bit devious.
Looking at names with you and talking about it and never once hinting, nevermind being hoest and coming straight out with the fact, that she liked your DDs name, could she use it too.
No she waited until the baby was born and everyone is all happy for her and her newborn to say, oh BTW....
She knew you couldn't say no then, of course you couldn't.
Had she mentioned it before however......
It was a clever move
On the othr hand. Having gone to all that bother, she must Really like the name. That is a compliment to you.
And remember, your DD is the first. She is clearly a bandwagon jumper on'er.
Can you remind me, what is your DDs name, do you want to share?
The info, not the name, with anybody else!!

LadyBuzz · 09/11/2009 09:38

coolkat funny you should say that we got DS1 new wellies yesterday and he has only taken them off so far to go to bed, and that was a fight!
Hope Becca and bumble are better today.

Poor J has been up half the night, he has got horrific nappy rash, I felt so bad, he kept screaming through the evening but I didn't realise he had pooed as I couldn't smell him (usually you can't help but know) til we went to bed. His poor little bum is red raw and was bleeding. Think we might have a few nappy free hours here to let the air at it. I will have to turn the heating up though -it is freezing!

Sorry to hear some DH's are being twunts!

LadyBuzz · 09/11/2009 09:40

Suiledonne you maybe should say something it is obviously getting you down, it might help just to get it out in the open. Its a hard one!

Tinkerisdead · 09/11/2009 10:56

Hello all, misdee coolkat and daisy sorry to hear bout your poorly little ones. Hope they are all much better soon.

suiledonne It must feel horrible for someone close to be using the name of your DD. But I truly would see it is a compliment. i know it feels like they have copied, or pinched the name from you. So many times there are people posting in the baby names section saying my cousin or friend as used the name i wanted and everyone says "use it, use it, they dont own the name!". It hard because when its you they have copied in such a devious way it must hurt. But truly I'd see it that they must really love it on your DD. xxx

So, after last weeks loneliness crisis, you lot really really inspired me to do something about it. At swimming I mentioned to another mum how I know no-one etc etc and she asked for my number so we could meet up as turns out she is new around these parts too

Then Dh took me to christmas crafts/hobby thing at the NEC and there was a Family History stand. I went over and started talking to this guy getting all excited about geneology etc saying how it had really gripped me. He gave me the details of my local family history society and its at the same school where I do swimming with DD!! So I'm def going to their next meeting. hurrah..a new hobby, a new friend. I am on a high this week.

Happy Birthday to all I have missed, to to ChocOranges DS tomorrow if I dont get on here. Is ChocOrange around?
