As we will still be on this when the first birthdays roll round.

I'll try and find the list to remind us all.

right, off to watch telly; will catch up properly tomorrow.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Yorky · 05/11/2009 10:09

Suiledonn he says you're on the list and will give anyone else until tomorrow evening. Mummynic have you seen the secret santa since you rejoined the land of the living? Sounds like you've really been through the mill - we had a brief bug but not as violent as yours fortunately. Glad you're feeling better now

We gave DS a big quilt last night instead of his thin toddler bed sized one and he slept through! I thought he was waking up cold and it seems to prove my theory! Fingers crossed for tonight, and DD only fed once overnight between 9pm and getting up at 6 so nights are really starting to be bearable here!
Glad the naming day went well cricri, I think you're all very brave organising big parties, I am being a mean mummy - she'll get a cake (which is more than DS got) but DS is upset enough that she's getting a birthday and he isn't (until after Christmas which is ages!) that I can't make a fuss

Rosa · 05/11/2009 11:03

Totally tearful ( me) for minirosas birthday .....
But to celebrate we have 1 tooth !!! Its a top one as well now all we need are the rest and maybe a few first steps and we will really be on the way.
WIll try and come back later to catch up but I have a bunny cake to decorate !!!!( as requested by dd1 as bunny is minirosas favourite toy !)

Ceebee74 · 05/11/2009 11:25

Happy birthday to Minirosa

coolkat · 05/11/2009 12:47

Happy birthday MiniRosa

Not been at work past 2 days as Becca poorly. The guilt is awful feel torn

Mummynic that sounds horrendous. X

Ladybuzz stickout the 3 months, failing that if its causing your stress do you get sick pay?

Will try and come back later.

X

PinkyMinxy · 05/11/2009 13:56

Happy Birthday MiniRosa!

Mummynic bug sounds horrid!

Yorky I have discovered the exact same thing witth DD1. Because they are sharing now, when I go in to check on mimi I often find DD1 has kicked off her covers, which has been waking her up.

Cricri glad E had a lovely birthday.

I really like the wheelybugs, but the price has always scared me a bit. However Mimi has quite a stash of birthdya money so I may well splash out I think.

Obs and LB I am sorry you are having such a crap time at work. I had this when I went back. One woman prefaced everything she said to me with 'it's all changed since you went away' and most people were just generally unpleasant. When I got PG the second time I knew I was no longer welcome. Most of the people I worked with were women too. It's weird isn't it? I thought it was just me but from stories on here I can see it isn't, which I actually find quite comforting. Not that it helps you guys, and I think it's awful.

Rutho hope you get your scan dates through. I do remeber something about ovarian cysts sometimes clearing themselves when you ovulate, and that's why sometimes when you ovulate it's really painful.

Misdee glad Sophis is doing so well. Hope the appointment has good news for you.x

Love to all.xx

PinkyMinxy · 05/11/2009 13:58

Sorry Becca is poorly, coolkat.

Meant to say, I had a really nice time at the school this morning. I did fireworks prints woth the children, and they were fab.

Tinkerisdead · 05/11/2009 15:22

Happy Birthday MiniRosa and yippeeee for your tooth! big toothy grin.

Get well soon to Coolkats Becca

mummynic we had a similar bug here a few weeks back but nowhere near as severe as that, sounds horrendous and quite scary actually. Glad you are all better x

I'm trying to sort more stuff out for DD's birthday party. was going to cook it all from scratch but Ive decided I'll just make the cakes cos I want to enjoy her day not run about fretting over homecooked wares. She has 5 little baby friends coming so I have made them all a party bag with an expandable flannel and flashing baby toothbrush and colour change rubber duck. Totally pointless party bags for tiny babies.

I am absolutely elated today as DD has started yelling Mama! For 4 months i've heard nothing but Dada and Baba. But now 'tis my turn in her favour. Shouts of Mama have just materialised overnight, that coupled with her throwing her arms round my neck and pressing her face to mine and I've cried about 6 times today at just how scrummy she is!

Rosa · 05/11/2009 19:47

Thank you for your wishes ..I made sure that it was just Minirosa and me snuggled up and bf at 19.18 tonight eaxctly a year after she was born. I then put her in her cot and she made these lovely little sounds just to check I was still there Normally I only do 2 or 3 back but tonight we went on for about 10 mins..Just couldn't resist!
We also ended up with 2 activity tables dh and I bought one and MIL also decided to buy one totally oblivious of the fact that she knew we had bought one!
Mummynic that sounds just terrible and how very scary that is one very good friend you have .
LadyBuzz you hang in there and don't let them get to you .
DrswifeHow wonderful re mama....And how very organised re party bags. I did so much more for dd1 and I do feel a bit guilty but miniroas doeesn't seem to have minded !!!

hana yep, Hamster is still toothless

Rosa what a lovely evening you have had - 1st birthdays are so special aren't they? (Well all birthdays are but you know what I mean )

Drs woohoo for Mama. for your friend though

Tis photo day at nursery so my children's clothes are actually going to get ironed for once

Yorky · 05/11/2009 22:18

Mummynic - wardroom? Are you Navy?

I've been asked to let you all know that secret santa has closed again! DH didn't realise that all Mum's are like me (scatty I think he means!) makes me feel better!

Glad minirosa had a nice birthday, I love the idea of the 2 of you snuggled up as you were last year.

There is a possibility that I'll be in France next week for a couple of days with DH work and I will really miss feeding DD - but part of me is desperately hoping that it comes off so I can talk like an adult for a bit, I know I'll come home with brainache!

LackaDAISYcal · 05/11/2009 22:36

Happy Birthday to minirosa and yay on the tooth!

Rutho, I mustn't have refreshed last night and missed your post about the possible ovarian cysts....ouch. Can I say fingers crossed it IS the coil causing the problems? as that seems the lesser of two evils!

The new smiley looks far too sophisticated and makes the others look old and shabby now....Tis cute, but not entirely sure about it's merits!

Had a regional meeting with my nappy lot today; it was good fun, although my two charming DC proceeded to wreck our county leader's house; coal scuttle upended, playdough all over the leather sofa, wee all over the carpet and newly stained and varnished wooden floor (DD trying to carry a potty to the loo). I missed half the meeting as I was either in the loo with DD, or else removing bumble from the stairs/kitchen/TV etc etc etc.

LB, missed your post about your workmate.... at what she said to you. I would be inclined to report it. Has she perhaps been covering bits of your job and is now resentful of you being back as she is effectively redundant from that role? the temptation to say back along the lines of "are you always this offensive?"

DW (missed you too.....really must read rather than skim the thread , I'm glad DH is listening and looks like he has had a wake-up call.....here's hoping for some breakfast in bed on Saturday

My county leader had a small wheelybug and it was resolutely ignored by both DD and bumble, so I suppose that sorts that dilemma....they are cute though. I put bumble on it and he laughed, then crawled off and ignored it again!

WEnt to the Clarks outlet this morning befire my meeting and got DD a pair of shoes and a pair of ankle boots for £10 . I also bought bumble some cruising shoes; not becuase I feel he needs shoes, but more to keep his feet warm! He has some soft leather shoes but he can pull them off and his poor wee feet are always freezing.

Obs, I hope your work situation is getting better as well......I used to work with someone I didn't get on with and going into work was sooooo stressful.

right......Northern Meet Up....is there any chance we could get something together for this side of Christmas? The soft play centre in Sheffield was good; maybe there again? Barbs, if you can get to Leeds, I'll give you a lift to Sheffield

LackaDAISYcal · 05/11/2009 22:37

and apols for anyone I didn't namecheck...I will catch up at some point

ellielou02 · 05/11/2009 22:51

Hi Ladies,
Have read up but forgotten loads,
mummynic sounds awful glad you are both well again.
Happy Birthday minirosa
chocgal I have deliberated over this ALOT and have come to the conclusion that I am more scared of the SF than the injection and I am scared of the injection, I dont know if you remember but the last time I had an injection I was off work for 5 months and have never needed one since (was the straw that broke the camels back not the injection, but basically thought I couldnt breathe after it turns out it was a huge panic attack which was my pnd coming out) so am going to have it, I have also discussed it with one of the consultants I work with on a regular basis and have a good working relationship with him and I trust him, he has had SF and is going ti have vaccine and so are his DC. We have also been told that we may be drafted in to help in wards as our patienst can be cancelled too.
Yay on the teeth!
This time last year I was having contractions, cant believe where the time has gone!

AFingerofFudge · 05/11/2009 23:04

Hi, just a quick one...
Yorky I still haven't received a SS email from Mr Y. Should I have done??

Daisy you talking of Bumble's cold feet made me want to ask everyone..does anyone else with boys put their (baby!)boys in tights during the winter?? I have some fantastic boys tights that I bought in H&M, the pair he had on today are blue with cars on. He constantly pulls off his socks, and now the weathers getting cold I thought it was time he started wearing them. They are really fiddly though, and he wriggles like anything when I try to hitch them up!!

Happy Birthday mummynic and ellielou DC's for tomorrow!

ruthosaurus · 06/11/2009 09:47

Yorky, have I missed SS again? Please please please say I'm not too late!

Got to go back to work now and do stuff so they pay me so I can buy shiny things.

suiledonne · 06/11/2009 13:15

Pinky

Hi Pinky, am I right in understanding that you have your one year old and another dc co-sleeping? Please tell me about your arrangement and how it is working.

At the moment I am sharing a bed with my 2 and DH has taken to the spare room. DD1 has been ill so we have given up on getting her in her own room for the moment and I doubt if Amy will ever sleep in the cot now after a year of co-sleeping so I think having them sleep together would be the best solution (once I can pursuade Amy to give up the night feeds that is [grin} )

I usually settle them in my bed and get up again in the evening and check them regularly and have the monitor on but Amy is a real live wire and I am constantly worried she will fall off the bed. The cot is against her side but she could crawl over dd1 or fall out the end.

Rosa · 06/11/2009 13:28

Happy Birthday Baby Nic and Baby Lou !
SF - I think I might have passed it as it looks as if both mine have had it as they were some of the first and then they did swabs on children after they saw this virus was not going and they were positive. The cap fits as MR was prescribed antibiotics and they diddn't touch her temp or her cough so it makes sense. I was obviously in very close contact and so was dh and we came though it - I had a sore throat and was heady but I was on little sleep and worry !
Both mine will be having the normal flu vaccine as DD1 ended up with bronchitis as an after effect of the SF . I might have it as well as Last winter when dh (2 weeks of which 10 days mega ill ), dd1 - 10 days yuck and then minirosa at 2 months went down with a version - high temp . Just about crippled me.

PinkyMinxy · 06/11/2009 13:53

Hi Suiledonne
No they are in their own beds, sharing a room. DD1 is in a bed and Mimi is in a very large cot. I think that Twinks had her two together on beds. I co-slept with DD1 til she was 1 year but Mimi has slept quite happily in her crib, then the cot.

suiledonne · 06/11/2009 13:58

Pinky - Thanks. I read your post to mean your dd1 kicked the covers off dd2 Not sure where I got that idea, probably wishful thinking as I am hoping putting the two of them in together might solve all our sleeping problems although I have read that children shouldn't share until the youngest is at least 18 months.

I will look out for Twinks and ask her.

PinkyMinxy · 06/11/2009 15:56

AH I see. Yes I think that's right. We have had patches where we are all in our bed but we always separate the DC from the baby.

I think Twinks has a two bed arrangement, with her DD and J. I'm sure she'll be on later.

My DD1 has no anxiety at all at bedtime now that Mimi is in the room with her, she really loves sharing her room. ANd that's quite a change because before she was in with us at some point most nights.

LadyBuzz · 06/11/2009 16:15

Happy birthday babynic and babyellielou hope you are enjoying your days.

I've had more pictures of the house done today so yet another round of cleaning - I'm getting a bit fed up of it now!

fudge i've never seen boy tights, J is always pulling his socks off so I might have a look for some. His feet are always cold too poor little man, doesn't seem to bother him though.

Must go I have to work tonight, I so don't want to leave my cosy warm house. But I shouldn't complain at least my colleagues are nice at this one

MummyNic · 06/11/2009 19:49

Hi all. Gosh it's been a hectic day. Happy birthday minirosa for yesterday!

James has had a wonderful day and still has many more presents to open!!!

Party is almost upon us and I'm dreading the logistics of tomorrow - need to sit down with dh and work out how I'm going to do it all....

Yorky I'd like to do secret santa but fear I may have missed the boat....

I'm not in the RN, I'm a civvie who works for the MoD - RN. Because of my grade I am allowed to be a member of the wardroom and, as I have many meetings and visitors of pretty high rank (RAdms and Brigs of RM) I need to be able to 'do lunch'. So I get robbed of £14.20 a month for the 'honour'!!! lol

Still, the snob in me likes it and I think it's a pretty cool / unusual venue, plus I shall laugh that 9 babies will be taking over the wardroom's main bar for the afternoon!!!

Thanks for all your good wishes reagrding the bug. My friend is an angel and I love her to bits, to do what she did was way beyond anything I'd expect anyone to do. Bless her! We are all well again now thank goodness and I am so glad that breastfeeding prevented James getting it!!!

I've never seen boy tights either.....

Ceebee74 · 06/11/2009 20:24

Evening

Belated Happy Birthday to M and J

Fudge have heard of boys tights (I think) but haven't used them for either of mine. Hamster is very good at keeping his socks on (although he insists on pulling them off on every car journey but never tries to take them off anywhere else ). Still not sure I would use them even if he did though.

No shoes here either....am trying to hold off until he starts walking - at the rate Hamster is going, I will save myself a fortune and it will be 2011 before I need to buy shoes

Daisy Northern meet-up sounds good - the play area in Sheffield is fine with me but it would have to be a Monday (sorry!)
