Wow Jenwa- excellent talking from P. J is def behind on speech then compared to others. I'll have to get on the case I hate diy being done in ours, although of course I love the end results. Dh is great and can do most things but something always goes wrong which involves a bit dramatic tantrum and at least 3 trips to B&Q and then something not ever being quite right. I've nicknamed him Bodge the Builder for these occasions! Bet your kitchen will look fab when it's done.

Rachie - I did have to smile at the idea of you trying to calmly explain to a small child "it's baby weight actually". You do have to wonder what the child's home life is like for them to say that sort of thing. The rest is pretty much 3 year old tantrum behaviour but the fat remark is a bit . Having said that ds often called me fat when he was little, he thought boobs were an indication of fatness!

CSWS - M did her double point for the lemurs! She loves that toy one we got her too.

I had a lovely day shopping with Ronshar and the babies made lots of mess as lunch so I think they had fun too. M still isn't that interested in walking but is standing on her own for longer periods. Socially, she says hello, waves goodbye and hello, shouts Owa owa, in the mornings which means Oliver, she knows what "milk" and 'food' mean, she says no and shakes her head a LOT, she has started making a miw noise for milk, um.... Oh she has just started throwing a ball! It is soooooo cute, she holds the ball and then holds her hands up tipping them until the ball rolls out. She loves it! She points at things she wants, calls us over to be picked up then jiggles until we move where she wants us to go, you know, like riding a horse. I think that's it. Oh she double points when she REALLY wants something.

She is WAY behind ds at this age.

Myjob - I was just thinking that I might try M with a cloth nappy at night soon. She seems to be weeing less over night and is bigger so won't be so uncomfortable in a big nappy. Let me know how it goes......

Ekka - We're down Dorset way over the October half-term and may go to Monkey World. Let me know how it goes! And M only has 1 and a half teeth through at the moment.

Teeth are always a bit gappy until the big teeth are all in.

I have just watched the last of series 5 of House. Oh my word. Series 6 starts this Sunday.
We have a mouse issue this evening. The kitten has brought one in and now I am trying to get it outside while the kitten goes mad around the house.

Myjob, we are staying near Dorchester somewhere, but dh booked the cottage and I don't have the details.... Lets hope he remembers the address .

I was going to try an Itti with a booster as some people have had success with the booster. I don't hold out much hope and may have to think of something else. The BumGenius worked the best when we tried when she was younger.

My feet hurt too Ronshar. I might have to convince DH to give me a foot massage. W and his mummy were pretty fab too, even if W was leading M astray, giving her ideas about escaping from highchairs.

oh crikey... Em is nowhere near as chatty as your lot... well she chats a lot but not much in the way of words!! she says ta at appropriate times, has been known to mumum a couple of times... lots of dadadadad and sometimes she's says yeah (but i think that's just chance!)

Ooh ronshar. We have just finished series 4 of House. Can't believe that I have watched 4 entire series since the spring!

I am thinking P is taking after her mummy rather a chatter box!

50ft M is doing really well, I think they are all so different. DD1 was simular to P really, they seem to have gone through thte same development at the same ages, dd1 used to say "tickle tickle" which was funny, it sounded more "diggle diggle" DD1 walked a week before her 1st b'day so think P will be soon, she just enjoys standing and wants to walk but just is not sure, dd1 was very cautious and watched her cousin do it all first then she just did it.

myjob yes I sometimes look back at the old threads too, I cant believe how quickly this year has gone!

The babies seem to be not babies anymore.

Hey all, have just finished off the old thread for you.

I'm pretty knackered and my knees are killing from my shopping jaunt. Got a child harness from Mothercare, we don't need it yet tho!!

Pops has only stood for about 30 secs altho she's always standing holding something or crouching, she definitely doesn't have my knees!

She says "mummum" esp when she wants milk, she knows what mummy milk is; if we say moo, show her a picture or a book of a cow or play a cow moo she says "mmmmm" and if we show her a particular book about a pig she keeps wrinkling her nose and makes a sniffing noise!

She's clapping and waving and the other day said "bye bye" (ish) while waving. She says hello and hiya holding a toy phone (or a remote control) to her ear. Just yesterday, she's started giving us kisses if DH or I approach her face with our lips pursed with us going "mmmm..mwah". (Big step forward there in the affection stakes!!!)

She keeps going backwards in her walker, not yet got the idea that she can go forwards. When we sit her on her rocking horse or something similar, she tries to move herself on it (so cute).

Oh and when DH picks up a book that has a fish in it, she makes a fish noise, and with a cow in it she makes the mmm noise. She'll also point to certain things on the page of a book that DH has read to her a lot, eg the sheep.

Sorry, far too much boring information there! It is interesting tho to see what the other LO's are doing as you get ideas on what to try on your own (for the first-timers anyway!)

I find it absolutely fascinating to watch how they develop and I'm really going to miss seeing the new things every day when I go back to work.

Oh Rachie, I need to see your restraining bear hug. Could you please post a video demonstration of it on FB?

Q just says dadadada or DA! I THINK sometimes it means "dad" but not sure... when I say "we're going to see dada" he gets all excited, so maybe?
he also says rarara wawawa and mmmmmmmmmm

No, Q isn't talking at all. Just making those random sounds. They mean nothing! he won't repeat sounds that we make, either! Except da. But that's just coincidence because it's all he really says.

Tomorrow!! Q is 1 tomorrow!
Dh and I are going to take him to the aquarium (he LOVES watching fish in tanks) and out for lunch and making him pumpkin muffins (he loved the pumpkin pie we made a few weeks ago) - with a sweet icing with sugar!
No family here, so we'll have a skype happy birthday chat later in the evening with the DGPs and Aunts/Uncles Since Q's bday is on a friday, we'll be celebrating it on Saturday (my birthday). I wonder if that means my birthday is cancelled?

Ds also not talking yet Knickers. He repeats initial sounds of words but that's it. He can understand quite a lot (if you say where are Stanley's feet/hands/shoes etc he'll show you). He did funny thing the other day - I came home from school and was still wearing my whistle which he wanted th play with. I showed him how to blow it then he tried to put it in the mouth of a woman on a big print on our wall. It was really funny because he couldn't understand why she wouldn't have a go.

Enjoy monkeyworld ekka. It's dp's spiritual home. We keep meaning to take ds there but haven't got round to it yet.

Ah, thank you Aubergenie - I will have to how DH your post as he thinks I'm going mad. I was utterly convinced that ds could point to his eyes, ears, nose etc before he was one and started nursery. DH is convinced that he would have been too young so you saying that S can do it proves my point! It is amazing how much they understand isn't it? Not that M has a bloody clue about her facial features.

Knickers - It's that boy/girl difference again. Girls develop more social/chatting skills at and early age and boys are more physical. Q and N are perfect examples of the differences. M only show cases her skills at certain times and she has completely given up on walking unless she has a walker.

50 ft - S can only do hands, feet, shoes, trousers and tummy, I think. He can't do his facial features because we haven't really talked to him much about them, but I can't see why a baby wouldn't be able to if they can do the other bits. I don't think you're completely mad.
