Oh and we fitting a new kitchen! ITs going to be black and I am soooooooooo excited. DH wants a new floor but it needs to be the same all through! currently we have laminate cherry colour (not at all cherry just reddy brown ish but am thinking with a black kitchen it may be odd?

Also need help with formula! DD1 only had a night bottle around now, should I drop dd's afternoon bottle? She does take it all but not sure its really needed? She tends to have it to go back to sleep with but should I think about putting it in a tippee cup?

Of course we'd like to see you again so soon MM! Dd would be delighted if O came.
Would be fab if you came up too star. We can celebrate all the birthdays together .
Jenwa - you are 2 hours away (pretty much to the minute to my parents, which is off the London Road). Is that a bit far for a day?

Can we talk about reading books to/with the babies. Several of you have mentioned this recently, but it's not something that we do a lot of. Every time I put ds on my lap and try to read to him he grabs the book and flips the pages over and around and closes it and generally makes it impossible to read. How do the rest of you do it?

CSWS - Hurrah. We'll be there next Saturday then. Just let us know when. DS is read two or three stories every night and has been since he was about 9 months. We have tried to read to M but it is tricky as she is still fed to sleep so reading her a story distracts her. I have tried to read to her during the day but she prefers to take the book and eat it. DH will often read to both dc in the bath and ds reads his homework book to her (not that she takes any notice she generally just shouts at him). It was easy to read to ds as from the age of 9 months he went to sleep without milk. Oh yeah, that's the other problem. If we try to read to her she starts trying to join in by shouting back at us. I told you she was an odd one!

50ftQueenie · 01/10/2009 22:51

Pistachio - I meant to say, is T still feeding loads at night? Dear God I think I might have resigned from motherhood and run away with the circus! M wakes up once or twice in the night these days, but has developed a lovely habit of waking up really early and only going to sleep with me. Hurrah!

Ekka · 01/10/2009 23:33

CSWS, I've found both of mine tended to grab the books and close them early on, then when they've found a favourite they will wait and turn the pages. Ds always has a story at bedtime before his last feed (I still feed him to sleep) and its ALWAYS 'Kiss Goodnight' a book we were given for Dd by her Canadian GP's. During the day it depends, but he loves books with flaps to open or things that move, and books with animals, so currently we're reading loads of Spot (I'm not a great fan), Very Hungry Caterpillar, Push & Pop Farm etc. He does quite like 'What the Ladybird Heard' by Julia Donaldson, because of the animal sounds, though I have to read the other bits quite fast and put in LOADs of expression to keep him interested. Its quite an effort

Jenwa, great news about the kitchen, it will be lovely when its finished.

Aaargh, battery is dying again, will chat again after our weekend away....

Honeymoonmummy · 02/10/2009 00:28

Hi all,

You see, I wouldn't have even thought about asking Poppy to point to body parts, i love this thread!

CSWS, thank you for your kind invitation. I'll have to check with DH but I'd love to come too if that's OK? Poppy is only 11 months this week though, does that disqualify her?

Also, can u pls msg me your postcode on FB so I can see how far it is and whether it's feasible?

Had consultant appt with dad today, it was quite positive, there's a chance it might be blood from a stomach ulcer rather than anything in his bowel. The procedure is on Weds too so not long to wait thank god. I'll be going with him and PIL can have Pops for the day.

She's been teething really badly tonight poor love. I think there's 2 coming through, she's been crying her eyes out which isn't really like her these days. She's also mauled my nips I'm gonna sleep in the nursery tonight, I think I'm in for a long one. Blardy teeth!!!

I've had another crap day with the PND too, I think effectively I'm not on any AD's at the moment as the old ones have worn off and the new ones haven't kicked in yet. Early days tho, only been on them 2 weeks. I am starting to get really cross all the time tho. Bet you can't wait to see me next weekend now, eh CSWS?

I'm off to bed anyway, night all!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/10/2009 07:45

Happy Birthday Q!

star6 · 02/10/2009 08:11

csws can you send me the postcode, too? The real one
Q is ONE today! I just can't believe it!!! ahhhh! My little baby!

KSal · 02/10/2009 08:24

woooo happy birthday Q!!!

CSWS, can i come?? pretty please?

on a completely different note, Emma has woken up really out of sorts this morning very tearful and whiney eyc, which could be either teething or the fact that she had her immunisations on tuesday, but her temperature is low (35.3) and i don't really know what to do about it! if she does seem to be in pain from her teeth and i give her calpol will that lower her temperature further? DH is phoning NHS direct bu t thought i would see if anyone had experience....

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/10/2009 08:43

Hmmm that's a pretty low temp ksal. What is she normally? I would wrap her up very warm to get her temp up a bit.
Not sure whether calpol would lower it more or not.

Of course you can come! It would be silly not to really when we are only a few mins away. Will fb you my address too .

KSal · 02/10/2009 09:01

DH is going to take her down to the GP, on advice of NHS Direct. I hate not being with her (am at work)

apparently they are home again... emma having perked up again and a homeless man coming in and cheerfully announcing he had bronchitis as he patted Emma feet!!!

50ftQueenie · 02/10/2009 10:11

Oooo sounds like lots of people round at CSWS's! How exciting! Can we celebrate M's birthday too as it is her birthday the day before? None of my miserable bastard friends have got back t me about her little tea party. I am pretty pissed off with her 'god-mother' as she a) forgot when M's birthday is and b) said she's really busy but should be able to come. I bloody told her about it in July and she said yep, sounds good at that point. If I don't hear anything definite by Sunday I'm going to tell them all to get stuffed! Especially if the friend I re-arranged everything for lets me down. We're going to her dd's birthday party tomorrow. I thin the first thing I will do is ask if she is coming to M's party and if she's not, I will 1 storm out and take her present with me!

Happy Birthday Q!!

of your new kitchen Jenwa. Is it finished now? I always forget how much I hate all the disruption and mess until the next time we get anything done.

50ft - Your friends are being rubbish. Did you ask them to get back to you?

S is actually having a decent nap today which is a blardy relief. I think he's knackered as he was awake so much in the night. I've been running round cleaning up and sorting out for the outlaws who are coming for the weekend. Just done a massive online shop for delivery tomorrow and realised that I've forgotten to order the chicken for our roast dinner on Sunday so I've got to go to the motherflipping supermarket anyway. So much for being organised. Gah!

Wow to 40 people Pistachio! I'd love to have a big do like that but we haven't got the space.

HMM - also meant to say that it's good that the news about your dad is looking more positive. Hope it's all sorted out quickly.

aubergenie · 02/10/2009 12:41

Really myjob? if so that's great new as I've just realised i didn't order toilet rolls either... Do i just ring them up?

aubergenie · 02/10/2009 12:51

You're a genius myjob. I've just read my confirmation email and it tells me I can just add to the order. I didn't think you could do that. Thank you!!
