i'm older than you both so you can shut up!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 25/09/2009 21:21

DD2 caught me pulling out grey hairs the other day. She asked what I was doing, I explained. She glared fiercely at me and said "they're not grey, they're white"

Another 'mature' mum here- I'll be 38 in January and am really feeling my age now. I always said if we do go for no.4 then it would have to be born before i'm 40.

Although S hasn't bit me yet, he has an annoying habit, usually when tired of keeping my nipple clamped firmly in his mouth as he pulls his head away .

Momino- i think i might have to 'investigate' further with my GP although not sure what can be done. I have often felt a tender area inside when we have had relations over the last few years, but it's just something i've put up with.

llareggub · 25/09/2009 21:44

Snigger at the grey hair talk. I have a very fetching white stripe along my parting and I am very overdue for an appointment with my hairdresser friend who comes to the house to touch up my roots.

Tummum your GP is a silly woman. At least my GP (male) freely admits he knows nothing about breastfeeding and throws me a book to look up suitable drugs. Thinking about it, last time I went to see him he consulted google to decide what what wrong with me. Maybe I need a different doctor?!

Grumpy sounds like it is going well en France.

pulapula I hope you've treated yourself after your smear.

Momino I've always wondered what the herby thing is called, and now I know.

I'm BORED. DH has gone out and I can't be bothered even to make myself a cup of tea.

We went to one of the Shakespeare houses today and we had a great time looking for conkers and fallen apples in the orchard. It really seemed like Autumn. DS1 has been far better behaved today. We even managed a trip to the supermarket without him running off and driving me round the twist. I'm hoping this improvement is due to him getting a bit older rather than me bribing him with tales of Father Christmas. I feel like I actually enjoyed today, which is a huge step forward!

I've got one eye on Supernanny while I type this and one or two of the scenes look like a scene from our house recently.

Momino · 25/09/2009 21:49

llare, I wanted to watch supernanny thinking I'd get some good advice , but DH wouldn't let me said i 'needed a break'.

grumpy, i've got the hair dye appointment this coming friday. keep thinkng I'll cancel it because I can't be bothered to spend the extra ££. but I will do it this time. been putting it off too long.

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 22:03

Ses [La la la la putting fingers in ears about work and responsible pharmacist regs as information about that is still 'filed' la la la la] Re teeth btw, I would check your positioning of O. I tend to get the odd graze from teeth, but just when I'm not paying attention to how I'm holding lo. Bottom teeth don't affect it as the tongue goes over them, it's when they start getting top teeth that you need to be more watchful. Only finished bf ds in january who had a full set of teeth for nearly a year.

Momino There is NOTHING wrong with your BF! Have you tried plotting H's weights on the new WHO charts? Incidentally, they don't start plotting until 2weeks to allow for settling on centiles and losing initial
weight.

llareggub LOL at your GP. Admitting your ignorance is a good thing though. Too many people bullsh&t their way through life.

Had Cassoulet for dinner tonight. Yum yum. (Oh and HIC)

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 22:11

girl WHO charts

boy WHO charts

Momino · 25/09/2009 22:13

thanks jennster, i feel better now and will carry on BF and prob won't weigh H again for awhile.

Cassoulet... mmm.

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 22:20

I've just actually looked at those and they don't look like the ones I studied in at a recent event about them.

FiByTheSea · 25/09/2009 22:20

grey hairs.. what are they? I'm dreading my post G re-growth as i'm sure there'll be more grey!

watching super nanny on +1 atm.

pula G does the strrreeeetch on mine too.

she's still ok so far after her jabs this afternoon.. fingers crossed for a good night.

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 22:20

Yes but not great for losing weight.

flippineck · 25/09/2009 22:32

Evening all. No chance of catching up tonight, A is being a bad tempered little bath bun and hasn't settled yet. She keep sfalling asleepon me but then screaming the moment I put her down. DH is currently trying to shush her but she is not having it. Bet it's because of the injections yesterday.

FiByTheSea · 25/09/2009 22:35

very yummy and i'm still using the 'i need the extra bf calories' excuse

Belgianchocolates · 25/09/2009 22:39

Evening all.

fi lol at that link. I'm tempted to weigh mine now, but I've got no scales anymore.

pula Hope you're relaxing now after your smear. I think it's a good idea to check why you've still got pain after all these years. It might be treatable.

hair colouring I do the bottle thing myself. I just can't get myself to spend that much on a professional colouring. I do come from a long line of home hair dyers, my 90yo being the 1st one

grumpy Your dd's comment on your hair colour made me think of my dd1, who keeps telling me and anyone who likes to hear that I haven't got white teeth. No they're yellow

jenn Those charts are interesting. C funnily enough is on a lower centile than on the old chart. Seems like there's more space for variety with the new charts.

bf with teeth I remember when the teeth were new it would feel a bit sharp, but after a little while I got used to it. As for biting, both of mine only did it once and my scream of pain and surprise was enought to stop them doing it again. Actually thinking about it dd1 would sometimes try to nip at the end of a feed, but she always used to look at me with a cheeky grin on her face (with nipple in mouth) before she did it, so I could stop her before she 'attacked'

Talking about bf. Anyone else's baby getting really distractable in public? C also likes to stop during feeds to stop and smile and say hello before carrying on. Lovely at home, not great in public

at all of you drinking wine. We've got nothing nice in to drink so I'm sipping chamomile tea at the moment. Virtual wine just doesn't quite hit the same spot I'm afraid.

llareggub · 25/09/2009 22:43

Thanks for linking to the charts, Jenn. I've just plotted DS2's weight and he is hovering between the 3rd and the 15th centile but in the red book he is just below the 25th. But on both charts he was on the 50th at birth. Oh well.

Watching Jonathan Ross now and mildly disappointed cos I thought Mitchell and Webb were on but instead it is Armstrong and Miller. Pah.

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 22:46

belgian It's at 6 months when the charts come into their own. The bf babies slow down in their weight gain, and so on the old charts made them look like they were dropping off, where as now they don't. You see, everything in nature points to 6 months being the natural age to wean.

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 22:47

MItchell and Webb were on last week.

essenceofSES · 25/09/2009 22:48

Jenn - I'm in denial about resposible pharmacist too after last night! Even Joy Wingfield was at a loss with some of it!

wine - I had a lovely glass of red this evening. Just one small one but it was v nice

feeding - it is actually only at the end of a feed when I've been lazy and he gradually slides off and it's not a bite but more of a corner catching.
O is definitely getting distracted too. I think that's why he's struggling to sleep in the day too.

flippineck - hope your evening / night improves.

G'night all!

essenceofSES · 25/09/2009 22:51

responsible pharmacist! How can I be one if I can't even spell it!!
Apologies to everyone else - really is v boring change in pharmacy law!

FiByTheSea · 25/09/2009 23:01

flippin keeping everything crossed and hope your night is not too bad.

I'm going to dream feed G sooner rather than later in the hope that she'll still sleep until 7am tomorrow before the post jabs grizzling starts..

belgian yes to the 'ooo what's that over there' sudden boob exposure. I bought a strong necklace the other day it has an assortment of dangly interesting things on it and seems to be helping keep her focused on me it :-) no wine here either but still not really in the mood for it.. i'm such a light weight cheap date!

Ses CPD? What's that? I had an email from the soc recently reminding me my records could be requested for scrutiny, and that I hadn't made a recent entry. I had to ring to find out what my username was....

JennsterFrogSaviour · 25/09/2009 23:13

Dandy You are right. There are very few drugs that can't be taken by bf mothers. Obviously some drugs are more suitable than others within a class. If in doubt
