dd1 is proudly making pizza base and keeps adding flour (one spoonful in the bowl, one onto the floor). I am so tired I was hoping for some Quiet Time with DD1 on the sofa whilst the other 2 slept but baby's just woken up, dd1 didn't want to rest and I have too many things to do.

speaking of which, must be going. ta ta!

I am warning you all now that there will be a HUGE mememe post later that will involve swearing.

grumpy- i look forward to your post! I assume it involves your mum? Is she as silly as mine? Mine refuses to pronounce her new grandson's name properly- he's called Aaron (pronounced 'Airon' but she pronounces it 'Arron'). My sister got a card from one of my mum's friends congratulating them on the birth of "Arran". When i said to her "he's called " she said "well i call him " .

grumpy, we've been expecting such post since we 1st heard your mum was visiting!

Well, S has now been asleep for 3 hours with a brief cry after 45 minutes when i popped his dummy in and he went back off. Maybe it's because i fed him just before his sleep so he wouldn't wake because of hunger even though i don't like to feed before a sleep as it usually results in waking due to wind. Shame my DS1 refused a sleep today (and he refused his lunch- i put it down to the terrible twos).

Hello super-shiny-thread peeps.

Well, we are a cold infused family, and i feel like sh1t. G is unimpressed, sniffing and not eating properly and crying all of the time, dd1 has red triangle of soreness under her nose and dd2 has pooed her pants for the million-th time. Sigh. I hate colds.

Pula at your Mum. I have a friend who insists on calling DD2 'Ann-harad' instead of 'Ang-harad' which drives me mental, but I have given up correcting her because it gets embarrassing after a while.

ses congrats on having the baby with the 1st tooth. C's so close to having one too, I can feel it just under her gums and you can see these 2 tooth shaped bumps, but it just wont come through properly.

pula I definitely like a method that involves not leaving baby. It upset me just letting her cry today. It was unsuccessful btw and she's finally fallen asleep about 30min ago on my back in the mei tai (it was my 1st attempt ever too because she was grumpy and I needed to do the dishes. She fell asleep within seconds of being on my back). I don't have to go out and about tomorrow, so I'll have another go at trying her in her cot tomorrow. I think I'll definitely need the book to have a better idea about what to do.

belgian- my DD gets lots of things addressed to Katy rather than Katie and we have found as we suspected that her name is very common - 2 Katie's and a Kate in her school class. I'm sure DS1 (Ben) and DS2 (Sam) will find the same, but hey ho, that's what happens if you choose names in the top 10. There were always lots of Sarahs, Claires, Helens, Catherines etc when i was at school.

pula Ds (Thomas) used to have 2 Thomases in his class. So I used to get Mother's day/christmas cards from him signed Thomas + initial Dd1 has a common name, but it was somewhere low in the top 25 when she was born and so far she's been unique in each school. As for C, at last count it wasn't even in the top 50 I think.

Interesting this discussion about name pronounciation. I'd have thought Owen would be really easy but quite a few people (including my mum) say it . It really grates but I thought I was being too sensitive so haven't said anything.

tummum, i could use a putting-the-kids-to-bed machine. it takes ages to get dd1&2 in their pyjamas. i can't seem to 'encourage' dd1 who should be able to dress/undress herself.

Gah - MILs and mispronouncing names. My MIL insists on adding an H to the beginning of A's name. Hangharad anyone? Bonkers. Tummum - I have a friend who insists it's Annharad too...I have never ever heard it said like that before.

grumpy - Bonsoir! looking forward to your long rant.

Anyone have any good cures for baby farts?! A is so ridiculously windy sometimes, the poor thing is so uncomfortable. Gripe water helps a bit, but not much because the wind is all low down - she's obviously very uncomfortable and wakes herself up with all the writhing and farting. Is this normal or should I get it checked out? She's only pooing about once a week and I'm sure that can't help, but I don't want to give her anything for constipation because she isn't constipated, iyswim. She's still quite sicky at times too.

People are forever pronouncing my DD's name wrong, it does upset me abit, but she's a little madam now, and she'll tell people "That's not how you say my name" etc... at least DS won't have any trouble, as we picked a fairly untroublesome name "speachwise" anyway, I've found it doesn't matter how many times I've told someone DD's name they've still pronounced it wrong....

Lovely day here for us, we took J out for his first long bus ride, we were on the bus for an hour, most of that he slept for, or gurgled at the other passengers lol had a lovely lunch out with my sister.

Going to go and get J weighed again tomorrow, and mention the night feeding again, she wanted to check his weight, and if he hasn't put on again tomorow, we may have to introduce something else, at the moment, he's had a lick of cucumber, a lick of bread/rusk and banana, he's picked it up himself, I don't count it as weaning or eating, cuz he's picked it up, put it to his lips licked it a few times and that's it, we'll see what she say's tomorrow.
