Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MisSalLaneous · 19/01/2010 16:01

Soph, use the excuse to let dh and children bring you food and drinks all the time!

My arm still sore from yesterday's jab. Am I allowed to feel a bit sorry for myself and moan a teensy tiny bit, please??

Also, I am SO tired.

Strangely I don't feel much better sharing, but hey, had to try.

Now tell me stuff all you lurkers!

Denny185 · 19/01/2010 20:30

Ok I admit it I was lurking

Not much to tell here, trying to find a cottage to book for the summer - going away with MIL/FIL/BIL and his girlfriend. Trying to find one in reasonable condition, near beach and in everyone's budgets a bit of a mare. Think I found one in Caernarfon but waiting for them all to OK it - by which point it probably won't be available anymore...

Dh and I are off to York for a child-free weekend. Its for his b-day and we've got enough tesco vouchers to cover the whole thing - woohoo.

DD2 finally vocalising some things that we can recognise as words, we have a dada and ni ni (night night) and an odie (bodie - dogs name)

MisSalLaneous · 19/01/2010 21:01

Hey Denny!

What?? You have a child-free weekend getaway and you call that no news? I'm jealous - have fun!

Had a near heart attack last night when we realised the travel agents (work) booked dh's flight to Delhi on the wrong date - meaning R and I had to fly on our own. I would if I had to, but after last SA trip I've promised myself that I'm never doing that without help again! What made it worse is that he didn't check the actual ticket again - confirmed the dates (as they should have been) over the phone, and then with Christmas and all that didn't look at confirmation e-mail... Urgh. Oh, and his ticket couldn't be changed once we realised. Luckily I could get mine and R's changed for a fee, so we're back on one plane again. Feel exhausted just at the thought.

SuperSoph73 · 20/01/2010 14:59

Afternoon all.

Denny - oh you lucky things, a whole weekend without the children Although I can't complain because DH & I stayed overnight in the hotel where we had our staff Christmas do. It was the same hotel where we held our wedding reception so loads of fab memories came flooding back

Sal - yes, you are quite entitled to moan about your hurty arm but only if I can moan about the fact that I now have a stinkin' cold. WTFlip is going on!!!!!!! My colleague was a bit concerned this morning that by tomorrow she'd come to work to find me in a crumpled heap under the desk LOL

Peachy · 20/01/2010 15:07

Helloeveryone.

Soph and Salhope you feel better soon.

Not much to tell here; snowed all morning but gone now (best of btoh worlds IMO). other than that everything quiet.

SuperSoph73 · 20/01/2010 15:19

Hey Peachy

MisSalLaneous · 20/01/2010 16:03

Hahahah, Soph! You should perhaps carry one of those baby motion sensor things around. You never know, you might still be saved if found quickly enough!

Peachy, with you on that. There are not many things in this life more beautiful than snow falling down... from this side of the window with the heating turned up! And helps not falling yourself silly as soon as you go out the front door after!

I fancied looking pretty today. Just for myself, as dh at work and R nursery. So I'm dressed in a lovely soft, flowy, paisly dress, thick tights... and you know what??? I'm losing bits to frost bite, so am now off to have a bath and get into my pajamas and sheep skin slippers. Poor dh. Might take a photo as proof that I'm not always usually in bedclothes during daytime hours...

SuperSoph73 · 20/01/2010 16:30

Oh no Sal, I think I'm waaaaayyyy past the point of saving

Well done on getting dressed today btw

MisSalLaneous · 21/01/2010 16:29

I try to please, Soph.

Oooh oohh, R's new bike arrived this morning, and it's FANTASTIC!!! So cool seeing him on his big boy bike! He's really still walking around with it, so not technically "riding", but he loves it! Oh, I do like this toddler stage he's currently in. (Conveniently ignoring the tantrums he threw at soft play...)

SuperSoph73 · 22/01/2010 14:39

Cough, splutter, hack, sniff ..... bleeeuuurrgghhh! Can't breathe. That's it, it's official I'm falling apart. This evening I shall just have to get drunk dose myself up with every single cold & flu med I can find.

Hope you all have good weekends.

Sniffy Soph xxxx

MisSalLaneous · 22/01/2010 22:52

Soph, you've infected me!!! Sniff sniff feeling sorry for myself sniff. Hope you're proud of yourself.

SuperSoph73 · 25/01/2010 13:07

Blimey Sal these bugs travel far How you feeling today? My sinuses are much better I just have the sore throat and cough now Poor Sam has the exact same thing & I had to get up to him twice during the night. It doesn't help that he breathes through his mouth, which of course, makes his throat feel worse poor lamb.

Sam had his revision with the Head SALT this morning and he seemed pleased with him. He said that he's doing well for his age, especially as he has the two languages to cope with. He doesn't have to see him again until Sept, so that's good.

... looks like work have cottoned on to the amount of "non-work related" websites people keep using, so if I suddenly disappear you'll know why. I'm so sad ... what will I do all day???????

Denny185 · 25/01/2010 21:54

Soph you will just have to eat chips instead!! I work for the NHS where a lot of sites are blocked, amazingly you can still get on MN, although if I do I tend to just read and not post, then IT may never know I've accessed it, not.

Had a great weekend away, it actually stayed dry on Sat so we mooched around the town and looked at the minster, the wall, some roman pillars, the market and wandered down some of the lanes. Sunday we manged a walk around the outskirts and up the river a bit before rain stopped play. The hotel had a swimming pool so even managed a couple of swims and of course some other exercise

Kids had a lovely time at nanny and grandad's, they did a whole variety of stuff including going to see animals at a local sanctuary and feed the ducks as well as painting and going to manky d's. Needless to say they didn't miss us v much!

DS had his pre-school jabs today, bless him he didn't know what had hit him when they jabbed one in each arm simultaneously. Dh took him swimming tonight and said he wasn't using his left arm properly.

MisSalLaneous · 26/01/2010 12:46

Aww no, bad that Sam got it too! Inevitable, I guess, but you always hope they'd miss it. Hope he gets over it fast. Yay re his general progress though!

Denny, sounds lovely! Quite jealous of you having the grandparents around to babysit, of course, but as you're nice, I'll let it slip. This once.

Denny185 · 27/01/2010 18:13

Thanks I know I'm v lucky having fit and able parents around, much as I love them it's nice to get a couple of days away from them too.

On an acupuncture update course today and someone managed to get my temporal artery it's given me a banging headache. The worst of it being DD1 is doing her hostess badge for brownies so we've had to make cakes tonight and we still have the table decoration to make and invite to write tonight once the other 2 r in bed.

SuperSoph73 · 28/01/2010 11:10

Hi there ... still here, just. My cold just doesn't seem to want to disappear and poor Sam is just all snot & watery eyes. Had a lovely day at home on Tues with Sam. I had to throw a sickie as the nursery was shut while they had some repair work done. It was lovely just to be able to relax & have some time just the two of us.

Denny - how you feeling today? Glad you had a nice weekend away. I've organised a girlie night out for next Saturday so am looking forward to that as I always stay with a friend overnight when the coven gets together Oh and guess what?? It's chip day today - hurrah

Denny185 · 28/01/2010 18:10

hooray for chips, they have to be medicinal for colds surely....

headache has gone just very tender over my temple. DD1 just gone to brownies with cakes, table decoration and invitation - no-one ever warns you re the stuff you have to do outside these clubs.

Off to gym in a bit although i really should be doing some paperwork, ho hum

MisSalLaneous · 28/01/2010 19:32

Speedy recovery wished on your side, Soph. I'm still feeling ever so slightly sorry for myself. I suspect my sinuses are really blocked, and now my eyes have started to feel funny - like someone punched me on the eyes! Luckily doesn't look like it, but I sure act like it. Weirdly I don't get quite the same sympathy...

Denny, are you super woman or what? [Note to self: No adventury club membership ever for any dc (evil) ] Glad to hear your headache better.

Guess what guess what guess what? One, oh yes, ladies, ONE week to India. I'm getting stupidly excited.

MisSalLaneous · 01/02/2010 11:22

Sulk sulkity sulk. 4 days before India and yesterday around 4pm R developed full on flu symptoms! He's weak and exhausted today, and just lying here. Don't even want to walk - crawls / shuffles about 30 cms either direction, and then lies down and rest some more. Ventilator helps with his breathing, luckily. Poor thing looks floored. If still like this on Friday, I don't think I'll fly with him, and will either join dh a week later, or not go. Bummer.

Denny185 · 01/02/2010 17:33

Keeping fingers crossed that he's feeling better and you make the flights. it could be worse it could have started the night before and then you def would be scuppered.

Well all the gym work has finally paid off, just got back in my size 10 jeans I just have to learn to resist the chocolate now so I stay here!

DD2 is streaming thick green snot again - should have shares in calpol the amount we seem to have got through in this house over the last few weeks.

MisSalLaneous · 02/02/2010 09:39

Thanks Denny. Yes, true. After sleeping all day yesterday, he was already a million times better last night. (And surprisingly slept well at night too, AND until 8am this morning!)

A little cry-y and snotty, coughy etc this morning, but not as exhausted as yesterday. I've got a gp's appointment later this morning for him anyway (made it yesterday when he looked so horrendous). I feel a little guilty using up appointments since he's better, but I just want to make sure his ears etc is fine for flying, and see if there is anything that i can take with (probably not).

Oh, and Denny. Size 10??? Wow.

SuperSoph73 · 03/02/2010 13:41

Hey all. Unexpected day off yesterday as all the schools were shut because of horrendous storms over the islands. The lightning was amazing ... our garage looked like a swimming pool for a while but hey ho! Also DS1 & his friend had been playing in the garage the day before & left all the toy boxes open so we now have toys floating in rain water. Am waiting until it dries out a bit more before tackling that!

Sam's still all snotty & coughy. However, it is a lot better than it was - I just hate having to wait these things out. How's R feeling today Sal? Denny - not talking to you ... size 10 jeans ... pah. I think I was about 18 the last time I managed to fit into a size 10 anything Am going off to sulk and have a now

MisSalLaneous · 03/02/2010 14:41

Lucky you, Soph! Good luck with the Toy Rescue Operation!

Poor Sam. Good to hear he's improving though. Fingers crossed for a speedy full recovery

R's loads better, thanks. It was quite odd, actually - he was literally floored for a day, and after sleeping for the biggest part of 24 hrs, he's now just displaying the symptoms of a bad cold. I can't tell you how relieved I was.

SuperSoph73 · 04/02/2010 11:38

Hey there!

Sal - pleased to hear that R's feeling better. Are you all packed are raring to go?

SuperSoph73 · 04/02/2010 11:38

and raring to go I meant - der!
