ThePFJ · 06/03/2010 23:22

Thanks Sal, you girls are lovely.

MisSalLaneous · 06/03/2010 23:22

Ladybee, how is the cold going? We're all bugridden here too, but I'm stuffing my face with anything with the word "Max" in it, so you've got my sympathies.

MisSalLaneous · 06/03/2010 23:24

Oh lovely, so are you. I hope someone is taking really good care of you now. x

Scorps · 07/03/2010 12:35

Me and piglet are off to rugby in a min [swoon] and I accidentally bought lots of fantastic new clothes yesterday lol, and a jacket I have been after. I have finally got benefits sorted and got backpayed but am saving the rest

MisSalLaneous · 07/03/2010 12:53

at accidentally buying lots of clothes! You should do that London trip and come and help me - I need stuff, but hate shopping for clothes!

Yay re benefits eventually sorted! Took a while, but hopefully things now straightforward for a bit. You're so upbeat lately, makes me smile every time you post something. (And then feel guilty, as I'm snotty and a bit moany lately...)

Making caramelised pork chops and roast veggies for lunch. Yum, smells sooooooo good.

LadyBee · 07/03/2010 19:26

oh that sounds so yummy Sal. I have no appetite because my nose is all bungy. B is the same, refusing to eat more than a couple of bites. I'm supposed to be cooking dinner and about the best I can come up with is mini-pizzas on crumpets. That's quite rubbish isn't it.

ThePFJ I'm so sorry to hear it was an ectopic, poor you. I really really hope that once you recover properly and your cycles sort themselves out that you're lucky again quickly.
Really sorry lovey.

Ugh, this cold is moving to my chest, I can feel it. And not much surprise as B has a terrible rattly cough poor thing.

Scorps · 07/03/2010 20:24

My mummy made me tea today

yes I got some nice things - jeans, a lace blush colour body, over the knee socks, some, ahem, tracksuit bottoms (in my defence they are White superdry ones....), a tshirt, high waisted hotpants, and some tights with hearts on. I got a bra top(like bra but bigger iyswim) to wear under lace body. And my superdry jacket, black and fitted. Is lush! I think that's it. I got mimi some bits too, the others don't need anything.

Yes I'm pleased they sorted benefits, I only get child tax credit and child benefit, cos K has to give me money too. So at least I know what I have now am it's do-able, I think it helps I'm debt free.

Rubgy was fun. I appear to be developing crushes all over the place.... Oops. I had lager and watched the game and piglet slept all afternoon! Our team won. I got to go in the changing rooms and physio etc cos dad does stuff for them, also got given a season ticket yay

am now chilling with piglet, the tv and a book. Multi tasker, me! Lol

MisSalLaneous · 08/03/2010 10:00

Oh no, Ladybee! You probably know anyway, but all I can recommend for chesty cold is rubbing your chest and back with Vicks, and then standing in a hot shower cubicle for a while. The steam and vapours helps R's chest when bad, so might make you more comfortable. That and eating some honey for the scratchy throat.

Scorps, you spoilt brat. Rugby sounds great!

Rubbish cold here too, both myself and dh. R a little too, but I think also crampy tummy on R, so he literally screamed for hours last night. Both dh and myself was up with him, but by the sounds of it, the neighbours must have thought we were abandoning him, with the occasional visit to pinch him! Shattered. Poor dh close to death this morning, as from around 3 R said "awayyyyyyyy, awayyyyyyyyy" every time I tried comforting him, just wanting his dad!

LadyBee · 08/03/2010 20:38

oh dear I've just had a big weepy meltdown. After suffering at the hands of my little boy who decided that coming home with mummy was the worst possible fate, proved when she didn't let him ring the doorbell. He managed to work himself into complete snotty hysteria and when I dared say softly in his ear 'it's ok, you're ok' he turned around and hit me. I guess it wasn't ok.

We finally became friends again when i suggested a quick game of duplo before we went upstairs for bath.

Then talked about it with DH and my own weeps arrived. I was worried that he is angry at me for leaving him with a childminder, the old secret guilt emerging again. DH reminded me that he always does this when he hasn't had a nap and that it's just a cumulation of last straws for a small boy and not a personal attack. And breathe.

I guess maybe those hormones are a bit screwy. Still, could do with some top tips for dealing with the old tantrums. What do you do?

Scorps · 08/03/2010 20:48

I might not be the best person as I am very strict, but people always say how well behave my dc are...

I ignore all tantrums. Unless they're going to hurt themselves, others or objects - in which case they get removed to a safe place and left until calmed.

Mimi doesn't really tantrum. If she starts, usually me saying 'that's enough' very firmly makes her stop.

When/if he hits you again, remove him. Firmly and deep voiced say 'no' and put him down and go away from him. He will cry, but he's crying because you told him off, not ecause he dislikes you.

After nursery mimi is always tired. If you don't want him to ring the doorbell ever stay firm to this, not only sometimes - it's either ok or it's not iyswim.

I appreciate I am a bit firm with mine, but it works for me.

OP posts:
MisSalLaneous · 08/03/2010 20:55

Oh Ladybee, I don't know what the solution is for tantrums, but I really hope it'll pass soon. Same here - as soon as he's over tired, it takes half an excuse for him to get upset, and then he gets himself so worked up that he ends up banging his head in his mattress... (this was yesterday) What doesn't help is that he's getting to that stage where he doesn't always want to nap anymore, yet his little body can't always keep the pace, so hit & miss getting the timing right.

For what it's worth, I don't think it's got anything to do with working, as this happens sometimes on nursery day (if too exciting day), sometimes on normal day out where he just didn't want to sleep.

MisSalLaneous · 08/03/2010 20:58

Hmm, Scorps's advice better! I'm going to copy some tips from you, Scorps. I think it was Peachy who said same re actual tantrum - make sure they don't hurt themselves, but otherwise leave them to calm down on their own. This is true for R - if I physically try and stop him, it upsets him more.

Scorps · 08/03/2010 21:33

Also it's ok to make friends later, but don't say sorry, a cuddle or kiss etc is fine

I find ignoring hard sometimes but IMO it's the only way - they soon learn your word is the truth if you stick to things and they do as you say, because they know it's non negiotable. Also never make threats you won't do - so as they get older, if you say I'm going to put you to bed if you do that again - do it. I have been known to leave shops, cafes etc to go home to do the 'punishment'. Stick to it, be consistent.

OP posts:
LadyBee · 08/03/2010 23:15

Scorps, you're absolutely right about the consistency with the doorbell thing too - I talked about this with DH as he usually lets b get out of the buggy to ring the doorbell, and I usually don't unless he's not in the buggy to begin with (i.e. we walked home). B gets his little routines very quickly so it's no surprise he was annoyed when I didn't today.

DH is better at just standing back when B starts acting up, whereas I tend to talk it out more.

Thanks for reassurance about being at home/being at work though. I guess if this pg works out DH and I have got some things to think about for me and and work etc.

ThePFJ · 09/03/2010 01:35

Feeling a little better today, still totally exhausted though!

Hope everyone is well. Hugs xxx

SuperSoph73 · 09/03/2010 15:14

Have just read through the last couple of days threads and just wanted to say I'm so sorry for you PFJ but yes, you can definately still conceive with only one tube. Just relax for now & make sure you're totally recovered & feel right mentally before you start trying again. Hope you feel better soon

Scorps - you sound great, which is lovely to hear. Am completely at rugby season ticket & second what Sal said about you being a spoilt brat I do completely refuse to talk to you about your clothes shopping though as am completely about your hotpants ... really

Scorps · 09/03/2010 15:56

They're very nice Soph but a definite wearing out at night purchase I think.

yes I'm feeling about 6/10. Which is fab, ATM anyway lol!

OP posts:
SuperSoph73 · 09/03/2010 16:03

Great to hear it Scorps

MisSalLaneous · 09/03/2010 16:23

Closest I'll get to hot pants at night is... (big) pants on a hot night? Does that count??

I wonder if R's dairy intolerance have started again? Can that even happen??? He was intolerant for a couple of months when small, but that was after a bout of antibiotics, which he hasn't had now. It's just that, for the last week or so, he's had "tummy bug" nappies, with no other signs! It's really odd. Might try and cut back on yoghurt, cow's milk etc for a couple of days to see.

SuperSoph73 · 09/03/2010 16:35

ROFL at Sal .... unfortunately, I know just how you feel

Poor R, hope he feels better soon.

Scorps · 09/03/2010 16:41

Sal - google toddler diarrhoea

jamie had this.... Such a nuisance.

MisSalLaneous · 09/03/2010 17:14

'Symptoms usually go, with or without treatment, by the age of 5-6 years."

Thanks though, will read up a bit more. Sounds about right though - he's happy, healthy, everything, just these strange bowel changes...
