Yes, voted! couldn't stay up to watch it though, DH did. And although he was up, I still have to wake every time Mimi woke up - three times last night... sigh...

I took Mimi (and Joey - not interested) shopping yesterday, and she wanted everything, EVERYdarnthing, purple... She got a purple Hello Kitty dress and swimsuit (H&M) and some leggings. Bless her. Such a girl.

Hope everyone is well...

HumphreysCorner · 07/05/2010 14:50

I sat (in the dark) up until 2-30am watching Jeremy Vine dancing around then went up only for DH to talk about work for another hour. We have been up until the early hours trying to sort HR stuff but am struggling with it. Have posted a thread in Employment issues about it.

Better go and get Emma.

Big wave!

Egypt was November last year Annie!!

Toby got such a bollocking this morning SICK of him not doing what he is told and starting to scream and cry over the slightest request ie, get dressed. Grrr.

Stayed with friends on Saturday night, they have 3 boys, youngest is 14 months and he is such a little love, if I could be sure to have one like him I'd be very tempted to have number 3. All their boys need to BE WOKEN UP IN THE MORNING!!! Imagine that! Go on, just imagine it! I can't. I was woken at 6.45 (a late morning for Toby, and he'd not gone to sleep till 9pm) by him shouting in his little friend's ear "RORY RORY WAKEY WAKEY"! Woke me up on a different bloody floor, and Rory didn't stir.

Swam again yesterday.....which reminds me want to post about swimming somewhere, got a question...

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 10/05/2010 17:05

Oops sorry Bloss! I really should pay attention... Did you get an answer to your swimming question? I would have thought that the slower pace would be more fat-burning as well, but I don't really know. I could only manage 20 lengths today, which is rubbish.

Bless Toby and his early wakings... Mimi too... will they ever just sleep................

HC, no idea about your HR stuff sorry! Hope you are allowed to switch the light on again.

Busy weekend, party, church fayre, christening, party...

HumphreysCorner · 10/05/2010 22:53

Got the light on now

Morning all = been awol again but I do have an excuse thie time as been on holiday.

Went to CP at Sherwood Forest and had a great time. Josh loved it - particularly the swimming pool which had slides and rapid rides galore. Twas all very relaxed and, whilst not even being comparable to our pre-DC hols, it was certainly a good substitute

Bloss - I have one each of those children - Josh who gets up any time after 6 and then causes chaos and tries to wake Sam up constantly unless we entertain him (which obviously at that time of the morning is very difficult) and then Sam (the little angel) who generally sleeps until we wake him (or at least lies happily in his cot)!

Deffo no more DC here as DH is going for the 'snip' tonight He is not looking forward to it at all but I just can't wait until it is done - no pangs or here at all which is a surprise.

Bloss - what was your question about swimming? Looking at Annie's answer, I am guessing something about slow but further vs quick but less distance for fat-burning? If so, the best thing for fat-burning/calorie-burning is to do interval training so, for example, do 2 very quick laps then 2 slow ones and repeat it for as long as you can. It is much more efficient at getting you fitter and burning calories plus it takes less time (Apologies if that wasn't the question )

Have now given up wine for at least a month Have totally plateaued on my weight loss so am making a determined effort to shift these last few pounds including making the ultimate sacrifice

TheGoddessBlossom · 11/05/2010 13:54

Hi CB! Thanks for your swimming point, yes I think I need to do more of that.

My question was whether I should carry on with the new improved swimming technique my friend has shown me which means I kick my legs much less (only contributes less thatn 2% to speed and exhausts you so no good for distance swimming apparently) or carry on kicking loads as it burns more calories and keeps legs more toned.

Answer basically is what you said and also to buy some leg fins. And I need no excuse to go shopping believe me...

In fact, am onsite alot these days at a client opposite a huge Asda - have just gone to "buy my lunch" and come back with a dress, a t-shirt each for the boys, and 5 toys for b'days coming up of the boy's friends. I do this every time I go there. Not good...

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 14/05/2010 14:54

Oh no, HC, not again. At least you're not allowed to have the light on, that should help with the lying down in a dark room bit

Bloss, how's the training going? When is the event?

CB Holiday sounds great! How is your DH, recovered nicely? How did you get him to agree to it? My DH won't even hear the word... All sorted then, with your two boys!

Tire-ed again. Mimi woke about 10 times last night - not joking. Once for a wee, so I thought that was it then, but she call me in another million times after that, bad dreams I think, and water. Joey has started tennis lessons after school on Thursday so that's going to become a social occasion for mummies I think!

Looking forward to a nice quiet weekend now. Apart from football and ballet on Saturday morning, I have nothing planned! Yaay!

Have a lovely weekend ladies. x

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 20/05/2010 09:42

Is it just me left then?!

HumphreysCorner · 20/05/2010 09:45

Hi all

Hope all OK. Can't believe Sophie is 4 on the 27th June. DH is 40 on the 10th June, must get him a card. Baptism is on the 6th June so a busy month ahead.

Took Sophie to nursery this morning and stood listening to her having proper conversations with her little friends.

Must press on and bake some cakes and tidy. Emma has a school friend for tea tonight and it is the one I don't really like but she has harped on about it since the beginning of time so am giving in to keep her quiet.

HC I love the little convos the little girls have - 'I love your hair', 'Pink! you have pink clips!' (like it's such a surprise).

Gorgeous weekend, wasn't it!?
Had my VBF over from Ireland and we had a lovely time, catching up etc. I left Mimi at a birthday party for the first time, Joey was there as well, it was his age-group, but it was a Fairy entertainer, so once she appeared Mimi was entranced! Joey did look after her though.

Hope everyone's ok! Time to do the birthday list soon. Just you and me and Bloss, HC, eh?!

HumphreysCorner · 24/05/2010 16:05

Hi Annie

I am just getting over a bad dose of sickness and diorrhea, feel grot and it has given me a headache too. Spent all yesterday in bed as had no energy. It was sooooo hot though. We were supposed to be at the racing so DH v. miffed that we couldn't go. Sophie got it too.

Am sure this time last year there were more of us as we approached their 3rd birthdays. We need an 'I am 4' thread title.

Hope all OK.

Hi all

Am here, just rubbish at posting!

Hope you're feeling better HC.

Annie - yes the little convos are v sweet aren't they, Emma says stuff like 'oh mummy I love your dress'. She said to her little friend today 'you be the policeman and I'll be the fairy, and you tell me where the flowers are...' wtf

She is such a girl, has more handbags than I do and fills them with all sorts of girly fripperies. Don't know where she gets it from, wasn't me, I was a right tomboy! She has a new favourite colour every day, but keeps returning to the old faithful pink, sigh.

Can't believe school is looming so soon, our July babes are so weeny compared to the other ones in their year.

So fab to have nice weather, got my flip flop wardrobe out, for the time being anyways It was supposed to be raining tomorrow but the BBC has changed its mind on that one, hurrah.

Hope all are well xxx

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2010 10:20

Hi Pixel

Mum has the D&V bug now, looks like we are all going to have it. Hope it is all gone by the Baptism on the 6th June.

Weather cooler which is better as I feel weak and waffy.

Have a good day ladies.

Bloss, Bloss, Bloss-hellloooo!!! Lovely to hear you are doing fine.

Now Sophie has woken up with dry nappies all week so tonight she is not having one on. I have run out so will not be buying any more. Fingers crossed she will continue to be dry.

Off to my BF counsellor course, have a good day ladies!

Hi sorry to be absent. Just read the last few messages and felt I needed to post that I feel Josh is an honorary girl

On Tuesday, I came downstairs after getting ready for work and I had a new pink, white and black patterned skirt on....Josh took one look and came up and started touching it and said 'I love that skirt mummy'

He is very obsessed with his (and Sam's) clothes and even tries to dictate what I wear if he is around whilst I am getting ready

Will catch up properly soon xx

daddywillbehomesoon · 31/05/2010 12:34

Hi everyone,

long time no hear from me and i'm sorry for that. Have namechanged a couple of times from flick to LTH to this as i'm sick of saying it every day about a hundred times from 4pm onwards...

we are doing well here in SA. Jacob has a year at pre-primary school (like nursery but more structured like school) here before going to big school, and Sam is at a playgroup 4 mornings a week which he loves. He is going to jacob's school part way through next year as otherwise he'll be really old for the school year when he goes (it runs jan to dec here).

Josh is doing ok as well - taking time to make friends but he's meeting people and I am building a circle of friends so he is meeting some other dads too.

I have met lots of lovely mums here but the biggest thing is that I had to go to hospital last week and ended up coming out with a diagnosis of malignant hypertension - basically high BP that is getting worse very quickly - muscles of left ventricle of heart are about twice the thickness they should be and there is some damage to my right eye. kidneys ok and brain ok which is something though. But it's knocked me for six really - i was hoping to avoid turning into my mum at quite so young an age

anyway, as you are all getting your july 2006'ers dry at night i'm just about to embark on training with Sam (he's about 2yrs 3months now) and am not looking forward to it. he seems desparate to pee toilet as he puts it but we'll see! we have two weeks that his playgroup is closed in the holidays (wierd holidays here as the whole school system is closed for the world cup!) before he has playball camp and then holiday school for me to crack it. Somehow i don't think it's going to happen! Any tips???

will try and post regularly

x

HumphreysCorner · 31/05/2010 18:37

Hi daddy, sorry about the diagnosis-what a shocker eh? Take it easy now. Sophie has just gone dry at night on her own so absolutely no training required. With Emma the pressure from everyone was on and we had a right struggle whereas I left Sophie and at just before her 4th B'Day she has done it. Will do the same with Matthew.

Took Matthew swimming for the first time today and he loved it. We were in the pool hours and there was a pirate boat with slides. Great! Managed a whole 2 lengths myself.

Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday.

Daddy - sorry about your health problems Hope it can be treated and you start to feel better. Your new life sounds lovely and it is always easier when you meet some lovely friends. Am liking the sound of the schools shutting down for 2 weeks - wonder if that will happen here if we get the 2018 World Cup.....

No tips on potty training as we waited till Josh was over 3 and he just did it...he still wears pull-ups at night though and shows no signs of being ready to give those up!! My mum thinks he should be out of them by the time he starts school

Had a lovely day with the boys today - reminded me why we had children in the first place (something which me and DH have been wondering every morning this weekend when they have both been up by 6am!!!)

TheGoddessBlossom · 31/05/2010 21:30

Hey all.

Flick (sorry can't quite bring myself to call you Daddy ) very sorry to hear about health issues, that sounds really scary, I hope you are ok. It's really good to hear from you , please keep posting.

Toby is still in pull ups at night, after a couple of attempts to dithc them, think I'll just leave him to do it himself!

Good weekend, 2 day hangover from 40th on Friday night, swimming, lunch out with friends, park, football, losing iphone in playground, finding it again, lots of food and cakes and picnics etc.

Boys are great - H is on half term now, so doing a 2 day sports camp from tomorrow.

Mum is pretty bad, cries alot, I find it very difficult to be around her to be honest, particularly as she can't talk much. Had a dream she died the other night, awful.

Anyway - love you all, catch you soon.

it's wierd you lot calling me daddy - makes me want to go all gangsta fat cockney bloke who's name i now can't remember (but who is one of my favourite actors!!)

o'h what a nightmare bloss. thinking of you xx

not much else to report here - jacob is sooooo cheeky at the moment - thought i'd cook myself a bacon sandwich for lunch and eat it in the study and i got "muuuuuummmmmmyyyyyy I smell bacon cooking!"

we actually finish school here on 9th june and don't go back till 13 july - thankfully there is holiday school, playball holiday camp, soccer camp, and sam's playgroup has a holiday school and cater for older siblings too - i'd be tearing my hair out otherwise!
