Hey all - have finally heard (via 2nd class post, the email system failed them apparently) - that she has got into the one we wanted, phew!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 03/03/2010 15:46

Yaaay for Emma, Pix! You must be relieved!

HumphreysCorner · 03/03/2010 16:44

That's great Pixel.

Should get my car back tonight, £100 of repairs later.......

Matthew hasn't gained any weight in 2 weeks so have to get him weighed next week and then I might be allowed to wean him. Don't you just love the HV's?

Girls both so tired and Emma is grumpy with it.

Big wave!

Most annoying thing done yesterday by me: Took £50 quid out of cash point and walked off without it. The irony is that at the time I was congratulating myself for not fogetting to take my card out.

PixelHerder · 04/03/2010 22:55

Hope car's sorted okay HC. God I remember the trauma of the HV weigh in's - but M looks blooming and healthy in the pic, I don't think you should have any worries

Bummer Bloss - I did that once, it was £30 (but was about 15 years ago) - with me it was caused by running out of money mid-pub-session and staggering out to get more... I hoped that the cashpoint would somehow have sucked it back in and re-credited me but it didn't, some bastard probably whipped it away first . And when I realised what I'd done I had to go and get ANOTHER lot out (can you tell this is scarred on my memory... )

Hi Annie! I'm sure Mimi will be fine re school. How's DH's leg now?

Feeling a bit healthier myself over the last couple of days after a v tedious sinusy snot-fest which lasted WEEKS. Also v relieved re the school thing, it was a bit of a weight hanging over us. Emma's little best friend has got in too so that's fab. And it's still sunny, hurrah!

HumphreysCorner · 05/03/2010 11:34

Bloss-having worked in the Bank you wouldn't believe how common leaving money on the cash machine is. Sometimes, it was handed in but in todays credit crunch society it is rare. I still am wracked with disbelief at my stupidness when a Spanish woman stole all £80 of Euros out of my purse by distaction/slight of hand method. Thing is I knew she was doing it and fastened the purse up but she still managed it. I blame it on the lunchtime lager and feeling chilled. Try and not dwell on it and you know you will never do it again.

Have my lovely car back-hurrah!

Have a good day ladies.

Evening ladies

Josh got in our 1st choice school - am very chuffed

Catch up later.

TheGoddessBlossom · 08/03/2010 10:37

Hurray CB! What a relief.

At home this morning although have a horrible feeling I am going to be summoned to London later today, which will mean I have to cancel the boys' dentist appt which is really annoying as I have told them they are going and they are really excited! I know, they don't get out much.... SO much for working at home, barely do these days...

Although have been swimming this morning, 56 lengths, and went yesterday too, 66 lengths. Really upping my swimming to try and get ready for doing the swim part of the Blenheim triathlon which I have somehow got myself signed up to with some girlfriends. Not till June though...

Good weekend, really enjoyed spending some time with my babies - we made bookmarks, and did sticking and colouring, went out on their bikes, went for a walk, played football, Toby and I finally read his 3 little pigs book with the paper characters that he has been wanting to do since christmas, that sort of thing. All went down the loo this morning when I was screaming and shouting and taking money out of their jars for playing football in the living room AGAIN and knocking all my photos over, but hey, I never said it was Little House on the Prairie all the time!

Hope you are all well.

Bloss

Yes that's great news CB! Now you just have to get your head around the fact that he's off to school (SCHOOL!) in 6 months...

Wish I'd seen your post earlier Bloss it might have inspired me... 56 lengths! 66 LENGTHS!!! Amazing. How long does that take you? I usually only do around 30 lengths... not today though, too lazy tired. Tomorrow! Good luck with the training you fit fit fit thing.

Pix, thanks for asking, DH still has crutches but his cast is off and he just has the splint for support, but he is trying to walk through it now. Today was his first day back on the school run walk limp!

Had a great weekend of cooking tapas, comedy, and rioja. Love it! So much food left...

HumphreysCorner · 08/03/2010 21:15

Bloss-you are Mrs Fit I'm the same re the one good day followed by me screaming at the girls the next day. Then feel guilty and try and be nice the day after. Never works like that though.

Still a week to go until I get confirmation of Sophie's school place. Will have to order some name tags methinks.

Mother's Day meal to plan next, only seems like yesterday everyone was here for Mother's Day and my morning sickness was easing slightly. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun.

Big wave to everyone!

Annie - when I usually go swimming I do about 40 lengths and it takes me about 25 minutes. But I am upping the ante, and actually enjoying it more, as I am following a schedule (ie, 8 lengths, then 4, then 8, then 16, then 32, then 16, then 8 then 4) and counting it does vary it and make it less boring. it takes me about 40 minutes to do that.

HC, love the way you are planning the Mothers Day meal, shouldn't someone else be doing that for you? I know, I know, fat chance.... I am taking my mum to my cousin's house where her sister will be for the day, with Kids, so catually DH gets a day off kid free, not sure how that has happened.... Going to make some very sticky Chocolate Fudge Brownies to take with me.....

So, bit peturbed this morning - just dropped H off at school, and his teacher (one of 3 I should say) plled me to one side and said, "Just wanted to have a word with you - Harry's brother wears glasses doesn't he? Has Harry has his eyes tested? [answer = yes] Hmm, and he has just had a medical with the nurse and she would have picked up any problems with his sight...it's just that he is trying to very hard with his writing, and for the amount of effort he puts in he should be forming his letters better than he is...."

So now I am worried that he is behind the others. Which is so ironic because we practice his letters, in the cursive script they insist on at this school, at the weekends on his little blackboard, and I was actually thinking he was doing quite well with them! Shows what I know....

Anyway, I won't write him off at 5. Bless his little heart.

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2010 09:28

Hey Bloss, ignore them please. Emma is 7 in July and still can't get her letters right and as for reading, well am sure it will happen one day.

I always like to have our mums round for Mothers Day as who would spoil them if I was being spoiled?

Need to book our caravan sites for August before they get booked up.

Onwards then.....

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 09/03/2010 14:25

Bloss have you seen this thread?
Joey is rubbish at holding a pen and writing is the one thing he's not great at. Although he's not yet five, the teacher isn't that worried. It's a boy thing - Mimi is excellent at writing and drawing (imho!). It will come, don't you worry.
Thank You Bloss!! You inspired me to go swimming today and I managed my usual 30 lengths - 25 minutes. Slow I know, but hey... I am in AWE of your schedule. I'm trying to get my time down before I increase the number of lengths, it takes me so long to change after that I can't afford to spend any more time in there!!
I met my ex-boss in there today, she still works in my building, and she said we should go together next time. Ok then! Only she's gay, so wouldn't it be like going to get changed with a male colleague...

HC you are a good person, looking after the mums. x x x

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 09/03/2010 14:27

Oh btw, remember I said that Mimi was finally toilet trained and that I shouldn't mention it in case I jinxed it? Well... she's been pee-ing in her pants all week... just little ones, so she thinks it's ok cos she does the rest on the loo.
And she's absolutely fine at night...
[sigh]

Ceebee74 · 09/03/2010 20:16

Bloss - not that I have a 5 year old but I wouldn't worry about Harry. Josh still doesn't hold a pen properly yet Sam can hold it perfectly and write with it ....mind you, Sam can't actually walk yet so I guess he is focusing on the fine motor skills first [double )

We are all going to my parents for Mothers Day and my sis will be there with her brood....I think me and my sis feel we should do the cooking rather than my mum but then again, we are mum's too I don't think there is a solution because I refuse to go to a restaurant on Mothers Day!!!

Lol at your swimming discussions - at my peak, I was doing 100 lengths in about an hour (but I don't think the swimming pool is your average length - not sure how long it is though) but it bored me rigid!! Put me in a heavy-duty aerobics class and I am much happier

HumphreysCorner · 12/03/2010 17:06

Hi all

Not long until Monday and I find out if Sophie is going to Emma's school.

Went to visit my 100 year old Grandma today. Bless her, her memory is so short.

Mum and dad's friends are off to Sydney on the 23rd for 4 weeks, do you know what the weather will be like spin as they are taking lots of shorts and T-shirts.

Hope all OK, off to get some tea ready.

Ah, and it is Monday and Sophie got into Emma's school-hurrah!

Had a lovely day yesterday, had everyone round for lunch and tea. Have given in and hired a gardener to cut my grass. You might see him on Rogue Traders-lol! Actually, he did a good job apart from mowing round the trampoline instead of moving it. Big weight off my mind, can spend more time on Facebook and Mumsnet with the girls.

Hope all OK.

Great news HC!

A gardener eh? Young and fit I hope?

Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. x

PixelHerder · 15/03/2010 22:12

Hi all

Great news HC, it's a relief when you find out isn't it.

Had a nice mother's day - apart from it starting horribly early MIL cooked - I felt a bit guilty but we showered her with chocs and cava (not literally) so hopefully that made up for it a bit

Big wave to all xx

HumphreysCorner · 16/03/2010 09:55

Honestly Annie, he is as wide as he is tall so very scary and all he talks about is getting his money (cash only). Think a hunky gardener would cost much more.

Have a great day, much sunnier and warmer today. Soon be summer!

HC

TheGoddessBlossom · 17/03/2010 10:16

Doesn't it feel all spring like and summery today! I am on my 3rd consecutive day working at home, which after the madness of the last few weeks is so welcome! I am up to date with the washing, (apart from washing one of Toby's night nappies with one wash, god it is EVERYWHERE), have played squash twice been swimming once. Having a very cushy week indeed.

Day in London tomorrow though so that will bring me crashing back to earth, and next week is looking decidely frantic already...

So car in for a service on Friday - i am getting the windscreen replaced (again) separately through Autoglass (another £75) but am expecting the service, the roof being mended (winds back to reveal glass but broken becuase little boys have been playing with dial), new number plate, T-cutting (from Toby using a stone to draw pix on the wheel arch) etc to set me back the best part of £1000. This is why I go to work.

The boys are being absolutely angelic of late. Really playing together so beautifully, not remotely interested in the telly at the moment, would much rather wander round the house carrying as many toys as possible, playing Power rangers, Secret Agents, and this morning's game was "Restaurants"! They sat on the landing having a "meeting" about it and Harry said I would be needed in a minute to give my signature on some things.....!!!! WTF???? They just love each others company so much it's really gorgeous.

Right, off to see if the tumble drier has got nappy fluff off DH's new blue sweater (whoops).

Bloss

xx

HumphreysCorner · 17/03/2010 20:19

Oh eck Bloss, that is almost like washing a tissue. I am thankful that DH does the job he does as he sorts out the car at a fraction of the cost.

Emma and Sophie play such imaginative games usually led by Emma. It is fun listening to them.

Happy St. Paddy's day Annie!

HC

TheGoddessBlossom · 17/03/2010 20:38

The boys had green soup (broccoli and stilton, no not homemade) and green jelly for tea in St Patrick's honour!

Tip for anyone re washing nappies or tissues, the tumble drier does get NEARLY all of it off....

Have slipped back to wine every night...so hard not to. Not much, 1, 2 glasses max, but really shouldn't need to drink every night.....

Ceebee74 · 17/03/2010 20:53

Bloss - I once washed one of Sam's nappies in with one of Josh's duvet covers and sheet - god it was horrendous!! I was finding tiny bits of nappy all over Josh's floor for weeks!!

I love the stories about siblings playing together - I can see that Josh and Sam will do that in a few years as Josh tries to do it now but Sam is not sufficiently well-trained yet to do as Josh says Josh's favourite game is to 'go on holiday' which involves putting as many toys as he can in a basket and taking them into the office whilst trying to get Sam to follow him. He also has 'picnics' quite a lot but gets a bit stressed when Sam ploughs through the plates and cups etc. But it is becoming clear that they obviously worship each other that it is lovely to see (and wipes out the sh*t memories from when Sam was born!)

HumphreysCorner · 17/03/2010 21:30

Bloss, don't feel sad as I need like a couple of glasses a night. Shan't ever give that up as it is my special treat.
