HC - yes I do really struggle to forego it. Particularly as I rarely eat crisps, chocolate, biscuits, cake etc. (I do , but not alot). So see wine as my real treat. But these days (am I getting old? Is this middle aged spread?) a weeks worth of drinking 2 glasses of wine means I am 4 pounds heavier by Friday than after a week of no wine. Despite exercising LOADS!! But do I really care? Do I just accept I can't maintain the weight I used to be and just enjoy it? Methinks yes....

In London today, it's like Summer! I'm used to coming up out of the tube into bitter temps and rain, and emerged into hazy sunshine today!

Supposed to be going out tonight, but really don't feel like it much, although I know I'd enjoy seeing the girls once I got there....feel tired and sluggish, think I am getting a cold.

CB it is lovely that they play. Listening to them, like HC said, is so funny. They were making each other imaginary smoothies in the car this morning.

PS do you think SPin has put so much learnin' in her head her brain has exploded and she can no longer post??

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 19/03/2010 15:34

Hi ladeez!

Well Joey had a huge Paddy's day hangover - he was sick three times in the night and all the next day couldn't keep any food down. He's ok today -still off school but at least he's eating again. And sleeping though...

Mimi is soooo fussy with her clothes these days!! She won't wear what I choose, but chooses weird combinations of flowers/patterns/stripes, and then takes some persuading to wear something at least a bit co-ordinated... And she won't wear her new skinny jeans that she asked for cos they look like mine, because she doesn't like them. Means another trip to Zara...

Bloss I'm like you (and you HC) with the wine (as you know!) a couple of glasses a night. The occasional attempt at a booze-free week, usually lasts to Wednesday...
I don't know about the weight, I guess we're all different, but it matters more that I eat less crap (eg no crisps with me lunch) to shift those few pounds. But hey, what's a few pounds when you're enjoying yourself!
There was a couple of nights I didn't have wine and getting up in the night and getting up in the morning still felt like crap so there's no point resisting in my honest and unbiased opinion!!

Pix, LOL at you literally (not)showering your MIL with cava!!! I was picturing hers as a formula one racer!!?!

Concur regarding the playing together siblings! Joey goes into almost baby mode when playing with Mimi, so different to when he's 'hanging out' with his mates from school. Sweetie though. He made me flowers at school for Mother's day, and then wouldn't let DH buy me real flowers cos he'd already made some!! Aw!!

Anyway peeps, I'd better head back to the house of sick and tired...
Have a lovely weekend

spin, lovely to hear from you. Take it a tad easy now as we don't want you to spontaneously combust.

Never watched that Bloss, sounds good but is it as good as Lost?

Big wave to all!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 23/03/2010 17:00

Hi Spin! Hang on in there

Don't watch any of those programs. Maybe I should...

Bloss what a weekend! How's the training going? I have swam twice this week, but only managed 20-24 lengths. Yoga tomorrow though.

Also in-laws tomorrow...

Joey is still off but will send him back to school tomorrow. His joint birthday class party is on Saturday and I have to make him a Dragon cake...

Still starting the day at 6am with 'I'm Hungry mama'.

Flick, happy birthday to Sam x

HumphreysCorner · 23/03/2010 17:52

Have dug my bike out of the shed that I bought when I met DH. The tyres are wrecked through neglect. I am going to get new tyres so we can all go cycling so making the effort.

The tosser that runs DH's dad's business has handed in his notice yesterday. DH delighted but will mean more work and responsibilty which in turn will mean absolutely no jobs will get done around the house. Good job I got myself a grass cutter.

flick-can't believe Sam is 2 already. Hope he had a nice birthday.

Matthew was weighed today and has put on a pound since I started weaning him so now 15lb 11oz at 24 weeks. Hurrah!

Keep getting tinges of sadness when I think that this summer will be the last one before she starts school.

Where is everyone else? Hope you are all OK.

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 26/03/2010 14:43

Bloss you superstar.

HC, have you heard about Sophie's school yet? It's given though isn't it? We hear on Thursday. Good luck with the cycling!!

Joey's party tomorrow... 30 kids in a church hall with an entertainer. I'm making his dragon cake tonight and sandwiches tomorrow. What fun that will be!
I'll post a picture of the dragon if it turns out well!!!

Have a lovely weekend ladies x x

HumphreysCorner · 26/03/2010 16:14

Annie-heard that Sophie got in on the 15th, did post on here.

Caused myself a dilemma again. The stray cat that keeps turning up had a note on him this morning asking 'is this your cat?' I have just phoned the number to say he isn't ours or my nice neighbours. Said I thought he may belong to whoever is living in the wife beaters house so she asked me to find out and ring her back. Went round but couldn't get a reply, the house stinks, is a pigsty and I honestly think it is the wife beater still clearing the house as there was a skip there. Don't want to go round again-ew! Also don't know what to say to the lady who told me to find out. Wish I hadn't bothered ringing. Need some wine.

Have a good weekend all.

HumphreysCorner · 26/03/2010 16:35

Just rang her and told her the story of how awful the neighbours were and that I wouldn't be going round again incase it was him there. Am completely traumatised by the sight and smell of the house next door and even more that I subjected my children to it!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 26/03/2010 22:16

Sorry HC, I did read that - just didn't sink in.
Sounds a bit scary next door - don't get too close.

Well, here's the Dragon Cake...

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/03/2010 11:24

wow wow wow Annie, that's an amazing cake! KBaby would be proud. Well done you! Hope joey's party goes swimmingly, good luck!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 28/03/2010 18:37

Thanks Bloss! It actually tasted ok...
The entertainer turned up late (20 mins!) during which time Dh and the other mum had to do musical statues...
Otherwise it was ok. What a lot of presents though!

TheGoddessBlossom · 29/03/2010 15:00

Glad it went well. Love the mental image of JUST DH and other Mum playing musical statues, while all the kids waited for the entertainer...

I took the boys to an annual rubber duck race they hold along a stretch of the river wey nearby. Both boys took along their Liverpool Football club rubber ducks I had got them for Christmas. And Toby's only won out of 160 ducks! Hilarious! Until they told me it had been disallowed for not be a "standard" yellow rubber duck, (slightly heavier apparently and this more likely to go faster - I did question why they hadn't informed me of this when they accepted my entrance fee, but they obviously felt bad enough to give Toby an enormous sonsolation easter egg. Great fun though, and the sun was shining!

Then did 60 lengths of the pool which I felt justified a huge roast lamb tea with blackberry and apple crumble, courtesy of DH. We are instigating a sit down meal with the boys at the weekend as we never eat together and I think it's important we do.....

In London today, running around madly. HC, Annie, looks like it's just us three on here these days!

Ceebee74 · 29/03/2010 20:23

I'm here

Annie - fantastic cake - I am so of people who can do such things when I have to pay a local bakery extortionate £££'s Glad the party went well.

Bloss - we always have one sit-down meal at weekends as me and DH usually have our tea when the boys are in bed so I thought it was important to at least eat together once. We do always have breakfast at the table together over the weekends though.

Got a busy weekend ahead - BIL is getting married on Saturday over in the North East so we are going over for a couple of days. Was really hoping Sam would be walking by then but no chance which means I will have to carry him everywhere whilst wearing 5-inch stilletto heels

TheGoddessBlossom · 29/03/2010 22:04

Hi CB! Very glad to see you. Yes, we normally eat when the kids are in bed too. Bit much to expect the kids to sit up nicely in restaurants if you never do it at home is my theory, hence the new regime.

Good luck for wedding. What are you wearing? (other than Sam and stillettos?)

HumphreysCorner · 29/03/2010 22:55

Ceebee-Sam and stilettos Very fetching image.

Annie-your cake looked fab and tasty. Why do people have to be late. One of my many pet hates.

Not feeling too well at the moment. Sore throat and very lethargic. Could do with a full night's sleep. Wishful thinking that.

We must keep this thread going Bloss, Annie, Ceebee et all!

Night ladies.

Hello ladies!!

You can rely on me to keep posting here!

Mimi got in to Joey's school! Hurray!! Not a surprise, but a relief all the same. Her very good friend from nursery also got in, even though she was a long shot, but they are thrilled!!

Just did 30 lengths today Bloss, and 30 yesterday, so you are the champ. How funny about the duck race!

CB the cake wasn't that difficult, honest! I'm no baker, I just used Sainsbury's chocolate sponge mix, so all I had to do was add an egg and beat it up. I did have to make three though!! Then just chopped it up into shapes and covered it in buttercream icing and various sweeties. Easy peasy.

We also eat after the kids are in bed. Once in a while we all eat together and it is very nice. Wish we had a dining table though...

HC hope you feel better soon
