Hi all, checking in after a lazy non posting lurking week.

Ta for the new thread Grumpy .

Dandy you are very nice. My total pet hate is people who are always late, so don't even get me started on people who are rude enough to leave you stranded and not let you kno.

Spangle hope youj have a lovely (and sunny) weekend in Wales. Look forward to hearing about your trip.

Fi are your dh's running leggings very...ummm.... revealing? My dh has some and I always freak himn out when he wears them by staring at his groin .

Another one here who watched the X Factor, wine in hand. Have moved on to third (and last I think) glass.

Hey Momi - hope you are having good birthday celebrations for S. We passed your house today - well we drove down S. Rd. and I was looking out for your house without kowing the house number . I thought I might have seen it when I saw bunting in the front room. But that was 20-sonething I think, and I've a feeling you are a numbe rless than that.
BTW do you know anything about the family friendly races next weekend?

No plans here this weekend.

llareggub · 29/08/2009 21:18

We're still waiting for x-factor as we are busy working. X-factor, believe it or not, is our treat once we get our work done. Oh how times have changed.

DS1 is feeling a little better today but he is still very snotty. We've had a very lazy day as a result and I feel a lot better for it.

The only news this end is that my 97 year old grandmother is in hospital with a suspected heart attack. I've been told to stay away because I am germ-ridden and also because they say she is fine. She's a tough old thing, believe me! We're going to go down and she her once our bugs are gone.

Sorry to hear about your guinea pigs Grumpy. You'll have to buy some French ones now won't you?

Any news from your friend Dandy? You know since mobile telephones became popular I'm sure people are more casual about meeting arrangements. I know that she didn't call you but generally people are pretty rubbish these days with dates.

Belgianchocolates · 29/08/2009 21:38

Hi everyone,

I presume everyone is enjoying x-factor atm.

dandy Not surprised you're angry with your friend. She could have at least phoned you. Hope you're enjoying your night out with DH, or is it tomorrow?

Spangle have fun in Wales.

grumpy My condolences for the guinea pigs. They are great little pets, especially for toddlers. They have no survival instinct whatsoever and so dont try to bite/scratch when being abused by a toddler Have fun with the packing.

DH and I had a little bit of an arguement today. Apparently I'm getting on his nerves with my worries about fitting everything in and the van maybe being too small to take all the imortant things down in 1 go. He also said that the move will be easy for me as I'll go to a ready furnished house I couldn't believe it. As if I didn't just spend 3 days packing like a frantic mad woman AND as if I wont be helping putting the furniture in place. AND who does he think will be emptying most of these boxes too??? I might not be transporting the stuff from the Midlands, but that doesn't mean I haven't done anything!

C's teething seems to be getting worse. She's chewing her hands and fingers big time and seems to be uncomfortable with it. I got some teething gel which I hope will help. I feel a bit sorry for her, poor thing I can see and feel 2 lumps under her gums where her front incisors will come, so it's them coming through.

Her hair has started to fall flat too. I was looking forward to showing off her funny hairdo too, shame

Other than that it's been another lovely day here. We went to a restaurant with my 90yo grandma where they had lots of typical dishes that I haven't had in years on the menu, so it was hard to make a choice. We'll have to go back with DH so he can sample some more local food too.

I've had my 1st 'your lo is so big you wont be able so satisfy her hunger for very much longer' comment today. I didn't comment as it was my very elderly grandma who told me. It's funny really, because how did she think C got that chubby in the 1st place? Not with formula

Belgianchocolates · 29/08/2009 21:42

llare success with the eBay posting btw and the wedding fair. I knew I missed someone. It all sounds very exciting.
I hope your grandma will get better soon too

Belgianchocolates · 29/08/2009 22:16

Ooh, I was just thinking. Maybe we can have a big meet up at Grumpy's next summer. A MN may 09 rally!

Belgianchocolates · 29/08/2009 22:17

I'm clearly alone here and talking to myself tonight. X-factor must be good^. Oh well, goodnight everyone.

flippineck · 29/08/2009 22:26

dandy - what a pain about your evening with your friend. Impressed with how calm you sound. Hope you're having a lovely evening now.

looby - hope M gets better soon.

fi - lol at your DH's running tights and the little parrot in the room!

grumpy - it's only just registered how soon you are moving, I'm dim! Bon voyage! Sorry to hear about the guinea pig though.

spangle - have a good time in Wales. It wasn't terribly wet when were there last week, I think it only rained a couple of days .

No x-factor here, can't stand it, sorry! A has only just gone to sleep and was quite fussy when she was feeding so concentrating on that. She had her second lot of jabs on thursday, had seemed to fine after them but has been a bit grumpy today - couldbe jabs, could be something else.

We've had a pretty good week, trying to bring some order to our crowded little house, partly to make it more pleasant to live in and partly because we are going to start looking for a new place soon! We actually looked at a place in the week, sounded ideal on paper but was grim when we saw it, too much work required for us. Anyway, we've been clearing out stuff, reorganising storage, taking things to the tip. I am now ridiculously proud of my understairs cupboard, you can see the floor in there and there is now space on the shelves for things!!!!

FiKelly · 29/08/2009 22:55

belgian poor c to be getting teeth already & at the not being able to satisfy her for much longer! sounds like either your dh is a bit stressed about the move too or has no idea how hard you've been working on packing up mountains of his clothes before your trip!

reggie erm yes! not a lot left to the imagination with the added bonus of making everything even more sucked in and uplifted that only lycra can do

llareggub sorry to hear about your grandma.. i hope she's out of hospital soon.

Momino · 29/08/2009 23:28

ooh, it's going to be hard to name check everyone...
grumps, thanks for the lovely new thread and Dandy title! are you ready for tomorrow? it's almost here ! very sorry about your guinea pig .

reggiee, we're no. 11 across from the carpet and bed shop. also, not sure about the family friendly races. I've only been to the races twice in the 11 years we've lived in York and once took dd1 at 1yr with a picnic... it was good fun.

dandy, sorry about the pub incident with your friend and hope things work out.

Belgian, hope you and your DH relax a bit but a move can be so stressful. Am defn up for a MN meet up at Grumpy's next year!

llare, hope your grandma is feeling better soon. bless her.

we've had an exhausting day, i don't know why I'm still up . We've been to a farm where they had animals to feed/pet, cows, pigs, horses and a huge play area and sand pit. the girls had such a good time, we stayed most of the day then came home for chocolate birthday cake. Little dd2 was exhausted and overwhelmed with birthday celebrations but had a good day, I could tell.

I love birthdays and really make a big deal of them in our family. it's one day when we can focus on one child to make them feel extra special . we're having a picnic party tomorrow to extend the celebration for her - a bear hunt so will hide bears in the park for the children to find. had to make some buns as well. we're overladen with choc cake and buns!

last night Harper slept until 5am so she's gradually lengthening her sleep, thank goodness. don't think the CP have got her down and looks like she has a very mild case (about 20 spots).

must go to bed now, hope everyone is asleep and dreaming sweet dreams.

essenceofSES · 30/08/2009 10:43

Grumpy - thanks for the new thread. Really sorry to hear about your last G-P
Good luck with the move though! You may regret saying "all are welcome chez Grumpy" when we all descend on you next year!

Dandy - sounds v annoying to say the least but well done for not dwelling too much and moving on.

Belgian - I don't know what planet DHs are on sometime! As if you haven't done plenty towards the move. It is always a stressful and difficult time when in the process of moving. I remember when we moved last year when I was 10wks pg and I found it really difficult to pack whilst feeling sick. Now though I think it would be even more difficult whilst trying to look after DS never mind 3 DC like you!

Momino - glad Saskia had a good day! Bear hunt sounds good too so have fun!

Spangle - enjoy Wales!

We've been busy as had friends' wedding. I had to do a speech on behalf of the bride (in te absence of her father) which was quite scary but seemed to go quite well. It was a really beautiful wedding filled with a good mix of tears, laughter and smiles.

I'm feeling a bit despondent as DS has a cold. I thought BF would help prevent that but he's got snuffles, difficulty breathing when feeding and a bit of a cough. He's also been sick a couple of times. Bringing up mucous. Bless him, despite this he's woken up all smiley this morning.
I'm going to go out and get some saline nasal drops for him.

sausagenmash · 30/08/2009 11:32

Bonjour! Ca va? I think its a great idea of Belgian's and Llare's to head on down to chezgrumpy next year! Soz to hear about the guinea pigs - you will have to get un group grand de cochon d'indes maintenant! Ahem

Yay X factor! I especially liked the 'Stunners' last night. Hehe.

Here's a classic re: dp's:

Friday night, dp was ever so good and bathed and creamed M with all her potions before bedtime. M woke up for a feed before we managed to dreamfeed her a bit later (which, I would like to say, works a treat, so thanks for that everyone!!). I picked her up and she was soaked. I went to go and change her, and dp went to get her bottle. So far so good. I was quite concerned to how wet she was. Anyway.
Me: aaawww poor M, you're so wet, what's happening
M: waaaahaaaaawaaaa
dp: oooh is she ok?
Me: I don't know, she's so wet
M: waaaaaahaaaaawaaaa
Me: huh? ......
M: WAAAAAAHAAAAAAAWAAAA
Me: HUH?
dp: what, what is it?
Me: .......
dp: what, what?
Me: Where's her nappy?
M: WAAAAAAHAAAAAWAAAAAAA
dp: What do you mean, where's her nappy?
Me: I mean, where's her nappy? She hasn't got one on!
dp: ...... she must have
Me: erm, no
dp: erm..... maybe she was uncomfy and took it off?
Me: ????????? wtf?
M: WAAAAAAHAAAA
Me: You forgot to put a nappy on?
dp: No! Of course not!
Me: ?
dp: ooops

Honestly. Fortunately we are still laughing about it. Poor M though!

sausagenmash · 30/08/2009 11:38

Ahem.

Dandy that's so crap about your friend. I would have been absolutely furious! Argh! See, if I was still in sarflaahndan I would have come out to play.

Ah bless. M is waking up after snoozing on dp's tummy. He is watching this thing with Lovejoy getting blozzers from prozzers. Apparently its supposed to be quite good. Hmf. Not too impressed with our daughter being exposed to such rude tosh. Dp wants to know if there are any other dp's / dh's into 'Deadwood'? (Tis more like Driftwood, if you ask me)

essenceofSES · 30/08/2009 11:42

sausage - PMSL that is hilarious about M's lack of nappy and the response by DP!!

ReeBee · 30/08/2009 13:36

hi everyone,

have been away for 2 weeks so am claiming a name check amnesty although have skimmed posts and feel mostly caught up.

Sausage, that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard!

Me me me post time - it's been a rollercoaster 2 weeks - we've accepted an offer on our house after it being on the market for over a year and a half, hurrah! Bad news is that much of the equity has disappeared so we haven't got a huge deposit. Never mind, we started househunting near my mum and dad's in the north lakes anyway... but then DH was told that either he or his BF at work will definitely be made redundant. So we can't apply in good faith for a mortgage anyway. Looks like we're going to be renting for a while - just need to find somewhere that welcomes large (but well behaved) dogs. Not especially easy. I'm getting cold feet as well and thinking it would be much easier to stay here near friends etc etc.

Grumpy, you sound very relaxed about your move, am excited for you and in awe of your calm. Hah! Just typed clam. Expect that if Grumpy did have a clam I would be in awe of it.

anyhow...

We also survived camping (with friends, babies, dogs) in Hawes in the tailend of Hurricane Bill. Poor F, I thought I was going to squash him with the sheer weight of bedding!

nothing else really, trying to get sorted out for house buyer coming round to measure up at 5.30pm (poss with an architect, how posh!). She is keen to move quickly and isn't in a chain.

Went to the York Maze yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.

am just writing tat now so I don't have to clean.

must
get
off
MN...

aaagh

LoobyLou36 · 30/08/2009 14:13

welcome back reebee sausage I also PMSL at lack of nappy story

bought a fab hot pink kettle for the camper on ebay last night then went to asda this morning and stocked up on picnicware for the camper - it was all less than half price
can't wait till we go to the vanfest in 2wks! must set myself a limit on what I spend

runningmonkey · 30/08/2009 18:10

Hi All,

sausage Lol! I thought my DH was bad as he always manages to put at least one item of baby clothing on A either inside out or back to front... hasn't yet forgotten a nappy tho

I am also up for a French Rendezvous chez Grumpy next summer.

reebee welcome back!

llare hope the ebay postings and wedding fair go well. Sounds exciting. My cousin is getting married next year and might be in the market for invites, etc so if you message me links to your stationery via ebay I'll pass them on to her. Hope your Gran is ok.

momi your birthday plans for dd sound lovely. Hope she has enjoyed today as well

ses hope Ds' cold gets better soon

grumpy sorry about your guinea pig, they're about the only furry pets I like too. Will you get some more in FRance or to fit in with the locals you could get one of those reeedeeeculously small dogs you see French women walking

Hi to everyone else

Might not be around much this week as my baby brother (well I say baby, he's nearly 21) has come to stay for the week so we'll be out and about I think. My Dad gave him a lift here and we had a gorgeous Sunday lunch out so am feeling stuffed and tired. A fed almost every hour last night too which hasn't helped either.

Right boobs are required, best go. Have a good week all x x

Huge apologies all. I've been AWOL for a couple of weeks. Got sucked into reading the Daily Mail threads! Am also off to La Belle France next week so won't be around much but just wanted to check in and say bonjour to you all.

Need to read the thread(s) and see what you've all been up to and judging by Dandy's last post, its been an eventful couple of weeks.

Anyhoooo, its all good here at Chateau LadyH. We now have our two boys sharing a room. R settles in his cot like a dream and is assisted by a new mobile that projects stars and planets onto the ceiling whilst playing (tinny) lullabies. DS1 is also v taken with the ceiling patterns and as a result as suddenly become much easier to get into bed. Happy days.

We are currently watching the Fast Show and feeling very old. Tis still v v funny. Bonno Estente.

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:17

Am hoping it will be "schorchio" tomorrow.

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:18

What did I say, Roy?

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:21

Lets off road.

Sorry. Got carried away there. Don't mind me. I'll get my coat......

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:27

Right. Back to being a bit sensible. dandy its a Fisher Price Miracles and Milestones one. It has three little animals on that turn around as the music plays. It was my second choice as I wanted the Tiny Love Symphony in Motion one. However I think the ceiling projection is a winner and no regrets on the purchase of the Fisher Price now.
