sausage- if that was my DH he would have got an earful for hitting snooze on the alarm and then waking me up . My DH knows that if we end up in different rooms, he doesn't disturb me- we have an arrangement where I ring the home phone from my mobile to let him know i'm awake and i'm ready for my mug of tea .

Although i haven't slept more than about 3 hours solid in 4 months i don't feel too bad on it as luckily S just has a quick feed, wind, and back down within 15-30 mins (if i haven't fallen asleep with him in the bed). We had a funny day today. He only had two 30 min naps and a 10 min nap in the car all day but was very good on it. Bed at 7 as usual. Took him for a weigh and is now 14lb 8, which is around the 50 line still. However, he is unusual in his dimensions as he is very long (all the HV comment on it but he's never been measured), but his head circumference is on the 9 line, down from 25 line at his 6 week check. I guess she would have said if it was worrying- looking back at my DDs and DS1s red books, they also had small heads so guess its genetic.

sausagenmash · 01/09/2009 21:01

pula my, thats a good idea. I think I ought to try that one out. I hardly EVER get a cup of tea in the mornings. Dp NEVER does a night feed (he doesn't hear M, even though she is less than 5 feet away from him)

M is only on the 25th%, but she is likewise for length too (got her measured as well last week, although I had to ask). Not worried as I'm a titch. She's only 12lb 6, bless her, and she's 14 weeks this week. It's gonna be a while until we can get into 3 - 6 month clothes. Put a pair of said sized jeans on her today and they just fell off when I lifted her up. Oops.

So I'm at my parents, at my Dad's pc in his study. He has a tv camera thing (a bit cctv-ish) on the shelf that looks out onto their driveway. A bloody SPIDER has set up home on it outside. I nearly wet myself when it came into view, it has magnified it a gerzillion times. I kid you not, it looks as big as, um, a paperback. Or something. Aaaaaargh I have to go.

sausagenmash · 01/09/2009 22:21

It's still there! Bugger off, spider!

Momino · 01/09/2009 22:33

ladyH, love your 'quote' from the baby/toddler rulebook

Momino · 01/09/2009 22:35

sausage, i hate, hate spiders. hopeyou're ok. [empathy emoticon].

llareggub · 01/09/2009 23:23

spiders, I hate them!

Reggiee thanks for asking after my grandmother. She is still in hospital but is fine, really chirpy.

We've had a busy day with the move and the place looks like it could be up and running tomorrow. It just needs prettying up a bit now and lots of work to pay the bills.

I booked DS2's 3rd lot of jabs today. I can't believe he is 18 weeks already. Where has the time gone? Last time he was weighed he was on the 25th centile, which is the line he was on just after birth. I've no idea if he has stuck rigidly to it because he's only been weighed once since the early days.

sausage I really enjoyed the Jason Priestly film. The years haven't been kind to him, have they? I took a well-earned break to watch it while DS2 fed. I enjoyed the film in the end, to my suprise. I hope you have a spider-free good night's sleep.

Daizy what a pain about nursery. What would they have done if you'd been out?

Momino I think we all have moments when we feel like we are being selfish. Or guilty. I think most mothers feel a lot of guilt. Please be kind to yourself: you've had a tough time recently with CP and I bet you could do with a break.

Gert hello!

Fi I thought we had a newbie on the thread when I first saw your name. How silly am I?

Anyway, off out with the NCT lot tomorrow for our usual lunch. It is my last one before DS1 goes back to pre-school next week so it'll be nice to see everyone for one last time until half-term.

If I've missed anyone, really sorry but my eyes are started to itch from tiredness. Goodnight!

Momino · 02/09/2009 07:06

pula, just re read your post and about the cuppa tea. hehe

morning all.

Harper still unsettled. i can't figure out how to comfort her. she won't let me put her down... how will i get dressed for nursery run? we'll see what doc says today.

if you didn't see on FB, i've bought 10 bogof cheese blocks from my sbury's online shop. i thought i proofread the list . i remember pushing the button a few times when ordering the cheese as it wasn't showing, but guess it did in the end! 10 times . MN overhere fo cheese on tast luncheon? with cheese scones?

llare, continuing best wishes for the business. glad to hear your gran's ok also.

back on later and hope you all have a good day.

muddleddaizy · 02/09/2009 07:34

Sausage poor you, did you get rid of the spider? A spider scuttled across our living room floor last night. When I asked dh to get rid of it he said it's gone now! I hope it doesn't reappear today.

Llare glad the move went well. Hope you get lots of business. Re nursery if I hadn't have been in, they would probably have tried my mobile or dh!

Reebee how did you get on at the dr's re F's eyes? It was you wasn't it?! I keep meaning to say my mum apparently cleaned my eyes with salt for 9months before they cleared up.

Momino I'm chuckling at your cheese order! Maybe you could sell it for a profit!!

I'm shattered. ds2 only got up once at 3am and fed really quickly, but I was awake for ages afterwards waiting to hear if he was going to be sick. He keeps coughing and then we get projectile vomit everywhere. Thankfully it didn't happen last night.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do with a busy little boy in the rain today?!!?

LoobyLou36 · 02/09/2009 08:53

momino lol at all that cheese

reggie M is 19wks tomorrow

I have decided to take M out of quarantine today (think she's pretty much over her cold) and go to BF Group - need some advice to be honest - M is getting more and more difficult to BF she's got her 3rd lot of injections this afternoon

She is sleeping better tho, last night 7pm to 2am, fed for 35mins then slept till 6am, fed for 30mins then slept till 7.30am

Having a proper seat belt fitted in the back of the camper today so M's seat can go in the back cowprint fabric should arrive today or tomorrow so I can carry on with the makeover

LoobyLou36 · 02/09/2009 08:54

sausage yuk - I hate spiders! DH thinks its funny and throws them at me!

sausagenmash · 02/09/2009 09:52

Bloody spiders - I was sitting on the floor in my room fedding M last night at 1.30am (don't ask) and ANOTHER one scuttled across the floor OVER MY LEG!!!! Bloody countryside. Looby - at your dh!

Momino - I saw that on facebook - hehe - cant you freeze cheese? LOVE the idea of a MN cheese on toast lunch! Can I have a splash of worcestershire sauce with a builders cup of tea, please?

Llare, yeah, I enjoyed it too. Agree with you about JP - he looked kinda rough! Looking forward to the Little Fockers movie!

Oooh M is asleep! Quick, shower! (she has now learned how to roll over, but not back again, and then gets all frustrated!)

sausagenmash · 02/09/2009 09:55

I was feeding her, not fedding! God knows what that means...

.....and thats the sauce on the toast, NOT in the tea.

Bugger the shower. I should just go back to bed...

Momino · 02/09/2009 09:57

also post above should have said 'MN over here for Cheese on toast luncheon'... the joys of one-handed typing. talk about proofreading. no wonder I ordered 10 cheeses, lol.

Momino · 02/09/2009 09:59

sausagen, I skipped my shower to have an extra 15 min in bed with coffee. sleep/relaxing overrides showers.

FiByTheSea · 02/09/2009 10:10

spiders I have a major phobia of the large black ones like you get in the bath.. urgh.

going to boot up laptop.. easier to catch up etc. back soon :-)

FiByTheSea · 02/09/2009 10:40

Another tired MNer here this am. We're all still in PJ's and can't be a*$ed to get dressed. Mostly my own fault and not the dc's. Was up late last night reading the NS emigration website...

Our day yesterday was busy though too...

DH had a fasting blood test 1st thing am.

I took G [now 14.5wks] to be weighed [last time was at 8wks] she's still on her 98% and weighs 16lbs 8oz

On way home posted some of the things we'd sold on ebay... of course there was a huge queue because of the bank holiday!

The hospital want to transfer my dad to a nursing home and my mum was really upset about it.. even though he's keen to get out of hospital & mum doesn't want him home until the care package for him is sorted out. Major tears and dramas from mum yesterday!

DH had to go to the hospital for his app with the consultant about his shoulder... he's had probs with it for some time but recently has been giving him a lot of discomfort. He had x-rays a few weeks ago and this was his follow up. He's got to go back for cortozone injections and possibly have keyhole if the injections don't work.

I had cracked a molar over the weekend and got an appointment at the dentist for the PM. Had to hurriedly organise dropping off DS to a pals so I could go to the app with just G.. who needed fed there as they ran v late. By the time collected DS from his pals and got home it was 6pm. Meaning DS was v tired and hardly ate his dinner... I have to go back for a 45min app in a few weeks as i'm apparently going to need a crown on this tooth. Good news though is at least it's free!! YAY

Had to squeeze our online food shopping in too as the fridge is nearly empty.. in fact I must go and fish something to eat out of the freezer or we'll have nothing for dinner!

Yesterday evening was taken up with DH 1st phoning his mum at 7pm only to find her plastered already and what should have been a happy hello how are you convo... turned into a complete nightmare for him. She was having a go at him because DS is going back to pre-school still in nappies and not potty trained!! DS as you know is only just 3yrs and although we have made some headway he's still not really ready so I'm not going to force the issue and put him off or it'll take even longer. DH agrees he'll do it when he's ready but his mum just ranted on and on about how awful it was [grrrr] felt really bad for DH asin the end he hung up on her

His next phone call to his auntie in NS was a delight though. She was delighted with our news and plans and after a long convo with her he said he can't wait to leave his so**ing pita mum and bro to themselves

During this I was feeding G and reading the various emigration options & criteria for Nova Scotia & got v excited so with a buzzing head I wasn't in bed until mid-night.

FiByTheSea · 02/09/2009 10:47

sorry that turned into a semi rant!

Momi lol at the cheese... you could always use some of it up with doing a fish pie/lasagne/cheese straws/quiche? if you have the time or inclination! cheese on toast is def the easiest by far or a cheese toastie is always good too. ooo i'm making myself hungry... must change the subject!

FiByTheSea · 02/09/2009 10:50

muddled we've the same kind of day here too... i'll prob get the plastic mat out, the washing up bowl with water and washing up liquid, some straws and cups. Keeps DS occupied for aaaaages blowing bubbles and pouring frothy water from one cup to another

FiByTheSea · 02/09/2009 11:03

ooo just had a reply to the post i put on britishexpats.com another MNer directed me to their canadian forums/wiki pages. So now i'm on here and on there good fun!

muddleddaizy · 02/09/2009 11:51

Fi it all sounds very exciting! Shame about the problems you're having with your families.

Looby - I can't believe your dh does that to you! When I lived in Africa I learnt to tolerate wall spiders, so long as they stayed on the wall!!

I really don't know what to do with myself at the moment, well I do, I just don't want to do any cleaning . Both the boys are asleep. Ds2 has been asleep for a couple of hours now and I thought ds1 was rather quiet, he's fallen asleep in the chair playing with my game! Fi wet play ends up causing carnage in this house oh that and ds1 has the attention span of a goldfish at present

SpangleMaker · 02/09/2009 12:08

Hi all, my, you've been busy chatting over the weekend!

Fi your plans sound so exciting. I think you're doing the right thing; it sounds like you have done an awful lot for your parents and it's time to put your own family first.

llare hope all is still well with your move into new premises. It must be stressful, but you sound so energised by your new venture.

Momino at cheese overload. Can you freeze some? I'm sure I read somewhere that you can freeze grated cheese.

We enjoyed ourselves in Wales staying with friends in their holiday cottage, although the weather was dreadful. We took H to see the sea but it was blowing a gale then started lashing down with rain so it wasn't quite the experience we intended! He looked a bit taken aback by it but was interested enough to enjoy himself nonetheless.

H is 22 weeks today! Can't believe it. only 4 weeks until we think about weaning! I let him have a little taste (just a lick!) of some fruit & veg over the weekend. Grapes and cucumber seemed to be favourite but I think it might be that they were the most juicy.

Had an amusing conversation with friends' son (P, almost 5) about bf-ing - the first time he'd ever seen or heard of it:

P: Mummy says H can play with me when he's had his milk, when is he going to have it?
Me: H is having his milk right now!
P: But where's his bokkie?
Me: He doesn't have one, I'm feeding him myself, from me.
P : From this? Oooh!

P: Mummy! H is having his milk but not from a bokkie!
P's Mum: Yes, P, some mummies like to feed their babies from milk they make themselves.
P: But how do they get it?
P's mum: From the mummies' boobies.
P: Oh... I know... like a pig!

but possibly a bit at the hilarity it caused our friends (who seem to be a bit suspicious of bf-ing)

ReeBee · 02/09/2009 12:21

Wow, Fi, how very exciting! Sounds brilliant.

Eugh, sausage, sounds like you're overrun with spiders! Another spider hater here. Am OK if they stay still but as soon as they move (even the word 'scuttle' makes my hairs stand up on end) I struggle - and so does DH, so he's no use!!

at your excessive amounts of cheese, momino. My cheese on toast will have a few small blobs of Branston pickle on it please.

Daizy, it is Felix with the sticky eye. Went to the doctor again yesterday and this one prescribed a new ointment (to date we've had oral abx, eye drops and now this) but also said it just might not clear up for a few months because his duct is blocked, and just to keep cleaning it. So it sounds like you mum's method for you would be just as effective as anything the NHS can do now! I've got a few tips on massaging the duct and sinuses to encourage movement as well so have been doing that.

Right, must go as am starving. Am still working my way through a long and tedious list of jobs although have been trying everything to put them off as I simply cannot be ar$£d. Ho hum.

ReeBee · 02/09/2009 12:22

spangle, crossed posts - love the BFing story

and yes I am sure you can freeze cheese.

LoobyLou36 · 02/09/2009 13:06

spangle lol at "like a pig!"

re: spiders, my DH just finds it hilarious that I'm scared of them - he threw a big spider at me when I was 7 months pg! I only just got out of the way!

made it to BF group - was telling the counsellor about the probs I was having feeding M and burst into tears the other mums were really sympathetic tho and I've borrowed an electric swing pump to have another try at expressing

M fell asleep in the car and is still asleep! that's 40mins so far (she never sleeps during the day usually)

got to go back out in an hour for her 3rd lot of injections

Febes · 02/09/2009 13:47

Lots of Jabs today DS also had his 3 set so no more till 12 months now.

Spangle LOL at Bf story.
Momino Your grocery bill must have been huge cheese is very expensive!! I freeze grated cheese and then use it frozen on pizzas, shepherds pies etc.
Fi so exciting about your move to NS. I also love Anne of Green Gables.
Llaregg Your photos on Fb are great. New premises looks very professional and your boys are so cute.

No major news here. I went out for dinner with some girl friend last night. Had japanese which was gorgeous. It took DH 2 hours to get DS to sleep . My friend found out she is PG so very and a little bit .
