LadyH Would love a ds who goes peacefully off to sleep with gentle lullaby. Mine has taken to screaming blue murder if put in his cot and will be feed to sleep or will go to sleep if allowed to sit with his mummy until he deems it timely to slumber. at 2 boys sharing. I look forward to the days when DCs will share and DH and I will be able to go to bed and read or talk.

Sausage My DH dressed my DD when she was about 9 weeks old and I was going out to a antenatal meet up. I got to the meet up and took DD out of the buggy to show her off and I found her to be soaked through. DH had forgotten to put wrap over the nappy so it was just folded muslin with nappy nipper. Luckily I had a change of clothes for her with me .

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:43

ah ha. another fast show fan!

When we were younger and had a social life, we had a Fast Show fancy dress party. Will never forget DH and his best mate dancing dressed as Ted and his posh boss. (his name esapes me)

We were very very drunk.

Hi all.
ladyH, have a good time in France.
sausage, very, very funny story about the nappy .
reebee, excellent news about the house and the move. good luck with all the big changes. change is good.
Dandy, I'm so sorry about your friend. I hate when we're disappointed by people we think are friends. no respect
runningmonkey, have a great time with your brother.
looby, sounds like you're settling in fine as a campervan owner, how fun.
Ses, hope the colds go away.

well, dd2's birthday picnic was rained upon and cold but everyone had a good time. I felt quite stressed with all the food prep, money spent and organising things to amuse the kids. but seeing the girls' happy faces, it was all worth it. just a bit shattered now and plan on going to sleep early.

hope everyone is well.

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:51

febes the sharing has come about more by accident than design. We had moved DS1 to the top floor and we think he felt a bit out of it and lonely up there on his own. Not a night went by without him sneaking into our bed. We got lazy and couldn't be arsed to take him back and so when we did try he'd then get hysterical. He seemed keen on sharing with his baby brother when DH mentionned it so we thought we'd try . I reckon its worked as he now feels part of it again and a bit grown up as he is "looking after" his baby brother. I could well be eating my words thought as its early days yet. Its day 6 so far of the bedroom sharing.

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:53

Ralph. dandy you are a genius. Its not been on yet. Oh no, hang on, here they are.

I always found Ted and Ralph quite poignant ( thats a big word after three glasses of wine).

ladyhelen2 · 30/08/2009 20:55

Paul Whitehouse always struck me as a nice bloke and your post proves it, dandy. Space NK? A really nice bloke. Bloody love that shop. WHat were you buying?

I know what you mean. One of the weaker characters.

DH is just putting an episode of The Wire on so better go as I need to pay attention.

(My name is Ladyhelen and I am a telly addict).

Will do my catching up later, although I suspect DH may have, ahem, other ideas for later this evening. Better brace myself.

Momino · 30/08/2009 21:19

febes, Harper usually doesn't go down without a crying fight. I think it will be a while before she can fit in with the other DD's (they're all eventally going into one room).

Febes · 30/08/2009 21:47

Momimo My DD was easy to get to sleep we CC her fairly early (as we tried to with DS unsuccessfully). She is such a good sleeper and has been going to bed at 6.30-7 since as long as I rememeber. I have tried to get DS to sleep at 7ish since he was 7 weeks or so and he was ok for a week or so but lately he has been fighting it till at least 9 and if put to bed he just cries and cries and works himself up to a frenzy. Tonight he fell alseep on the vibrate mode of his chair at 9. Its fine but means I can't really go out and I am stressing that he will be a bad sleeper for ever.

Momino · 30/08/2009 22:18

aw, febes, try not to stress. you don't know how he'll sleep in the next few weeks. they can be so unpredictable. H slept 9-11 hours in the 1st 3 months then started waking up 2x a night and I hadn't done anything differently. I'm hoping she'll go back to being a good sleeper .

Febes · 30/08/2009 22:24

R woke 3 times a night for 12 weeks then slept through a few times and and woke only once for a week or so last night was back to 3 times waking. Sign. I know this too shall pass but this had felt like a reaaaaallllly long phase.

Febes · 30/08/2009 22:25

Opps I meant sigh not sign
I'm watch Titanic and trying not to sob.

Momino · 30/08/2009 22:29

i've never seen titanic. not sure I could handle it and would defn cry. watching the office instead, i need a good laugh!

llareggub · 30/08/2009 22:38

Well I'm so desperate for something to watch I've got True Bloody Movies on!

I never really got into The Fast Show. So many years ago now, amazing really.

Momino I'm glad you had a lovely party and the weather wasn't too bad. I'm sitting here all snug and warm with a pashmina and the heating. In August! Who'd have thunk it?

sausage I read your story out to DH and we both found it hilarious. My DH dressed DS2 in a vest sized 18-24 months the other day and didn't twig at all that it was far, far too big for a 3 monther. They are a funny bunch, aren't they?

ladyhelen2 lovely to see you again.

runningmonkey thank you for thinking of us re invitations. I've sent you a message via facebook.

We had a quiet day today at the wedding show but had some good leads. It was nice to spend the day with DH without the children, even if we were working. We did manage a coffee together after it ended, and sat and watched the ducks outside the RSC in Stratford. It was very, very busy in Stratford today, as you can imagine.

llareggub · 30/08/2009 22:39

ANd welcome back to Reebee too, and I knew I missed someone!

flippineck · 30/08/2009 22:45

We're watching some rubbish programe on Sky3 (I think) - 50 top TV hard men or something. Complete tosh apart from the clips of Sean Bean as Sharpe - phwoar!

Anyway, evening all! Can't manage much namechecking, sorry, been on the vino again. Dh has been off work all week so we've been pretending we're on holiday and having wine every night. What an exciting life I have.

sausagenmash · 30/08/2009 22:49

Re telly watching - we've got the last of the Omen trilogy on. Just finished watching something about killer wolves in New York. Hm. I think its to make up for us watching Marley & Me earlier. God, I blubbed my heart out at that

Not too sure about Paul Whitehouse in his new Aviva ads... a friend of mine, when at uni, went to her tutor's house... the front door opened and her tutor said 'oh don't worry, its my husband/' In walked Charlie Higson! Half an hour later, the doorbell went, and in came Paul Whitehouse! Friend said it was like having her own mini fast show episode! (blahblahblahblah-chriswaddle-blahblahblah)

My LO hasn't slept through once yet. I can't remember when I last had a good night's sleep. Booooooohoooooo Talking of which, there she goes. Nnight all!

FiKelly · 31/08/2009 08:42

morning all :-) we had a great day yesterday.. went to the cheap family session at the cinema to see monsters V aliens. it was the first time we'd all been as a family and first time dh had been in years! we had a great time and only cost £4 including drink, sweets and popcorn for me ds [Wink]

back home for lunch and played with ds in pm.. amazing the fun to be had for a toddler with a straw.. washing up liquid and bowl of water!

have also been doing a lot of research into emigrating to canada.. turns out it is a much easier option for us as dh's aunt lives there and we get points for that. even without a job offer we pass the points assessment There is now a very real possibility we'll move to nova scotia asap! will sell our flat and go stay with dh's family for a holiday next year.. then come back and break the moving news to my parents.. not looking forward to that conversation though.

pulapula · 31/08/2009 08:54

Wow Fi- nova scotia! All this emigrating activity!

Sausage- my LO hasn't ever slept through, although he did manage a sleep til 5am one night which is the "official" definition of sleeping through i think. But generally still 2 or 3 feeds a night, last night it was 1am and 4am with a waking at 5am too just to make me extra tired . He does however go to sleep nicely at 7 or 7.15 every night

FiKelly · 31/08/2009 09:03

have to admit I'm really quite excited.. I even had a look at the kinds of property we could afford there.. huge plots with lovely detached houses that we could never afford here. I've been dreaming all night about them!!

FiKelly · 31/08/2009 09:16

pula G sleeps through till 7ish now.. but she's up pretty much all evening after ds goes to bed.. tanking up! last night it was 10pm she fell asleep for the night and I dream fed her after that just as I headed off to bed. I'm hoping that she'll fall into a regular feeding pattern in the evenings soon.. makes going out kinda tricky.

llareggub · 31/08/2009 09:33

Oh, Nova Scotia! Was the Anne of Green Gables series set there? I longed to visit there as a child as I was so in love with Gilbert. Sounds wonderful, Fi.
