night Sazz

miamla - without sounding too much like a stalker please please please let me know as soon as you decide as I'd love to meet you and with us both on shifts things take some organising these days

oopsacoconut · 24/08/2009 22:11

Night all from here too - hoping that DD sleeps a bit more than last night!

I have a serious question but it can wait until tomorrow.

oops - you can't do that then leave, I shall worry all night now

pertelote · 24/08/2009 22:23

You're all chatty tonight! Can't keep up with you - but feel I must interject to defend my lovely brown leather sofa which yes, could be said to look like a pile of poo but is the comfiest I've ever met. And while I'm daring to disagree with Buckets my favourite soup is chestnut and chorizo from the Moro book. I will now disappear sharpish and hide behind said sofa. DD was awake 1-3am last night (on a work night, why oh why...) and I am currently doing my whole job plus some in my three days so somewhat knackered. Glad the illnesses are passing though, Miamla et al.

hotterpotter · 24/08/2009 22:46

Typical, can't get DH off the computer on the night everyone is chatting and now he's watching telly everyone's gone Oh well sweet dreams all and maybe see you tomorrow.

Off to Leeds to get DS his first shoes, meeting my Grandma and hoping she'll offer to pay taking her for a cup of tea and a bun. DC will be chuffed because they get to go on two trains again

oopsacoconut · 24/08/2009 22:50

Dizzy nothing serious really just about bedtimes and seperation problems when going to bed. Will post in more detail in the morning.

TwilightSurfer · 24/08/2009 23:02

How about grapefruit or cereal with skimmed milk????? Get thee to Hot Mamas young lady [pf stare]

cyteen · 25/08/2009 09:42

Porridge for breakfast here, and the remains of a bag of peanut M&Ms because I am uptight. Counsellor is coming at 10 for second session and I am tense about it. Joe is meant to be asleep but is not.

dizzydixies · 25/08/2009 09:53

no, no no no no, you can't make me [meep]

cyteen, do you have any rescue remedy to hand?

cyteen · 25/08/2009 11:20

No...as ever chez cyteen, we do have some but god knows where it is

Twas alright anyway, my natural anger and defensiveness was smoothed into something more constructive by the indulgent delight of Talking About Me

It is certainly making me realise what an eventful life I've had! Shame it wasn't eventful in the usual travel-the-world type way, but hey ho.

TwilightSurfer · 25/08/2009 11:57

Morning. I've got 20 minutes to get everybody ready for their day. Oddly I've been up since 5:30pm just trying to get me ready for my day.

Happy Happy Happy Day to ALL!!!

Good job Dizzy didn't breathalyse, TS eh? Been at the margaritas again? Or watching The Banana Splits with a bong?

Apologies for the poo-sofa comment, forgot you were all real people who might have one.

What can I do with potatos for dinner tonight? I have some chicken thighs and drumsticks thawing too.

steaknife · 25/08/2009 13:05

Afternoon.

sofas - can't remember who linked to what but surely you need a lovely chaise to lounge on?

soup - spicy squash and coconut milk soup - I can supply a recipe should you so wish. Very good for winter comfort.

So Mansteak has been emailing divecentres in Malta for jobs. He has an offer starting in March but they are seeing if they can take him fro, November too. I predicted this would happen. the only reason he is back in France is because of us. I think moving back to France was by far the worst thing we have done, no saying that we wouldn't have ended up apart if we had been anywhere else but at least I we might have had a fighting chance. Sigh.
As you can tell I am not at all at one with this life-change.
It will be easier when it is just me and DD in England though. Got the confirmation of benefits letter yesterday - woohoo, kinda.

Buckets potato wedges. Wash cut into wedges, smoosh around in olive oil, soy and herbs and spices of your choosing. Bake in oven. You could do spicy chicken to match. Goes well with sour cream or mayo.

steaknife · 25/08/2009 13:33

oh and another Woohoo cos DD napped in her cot again today. It did take a while of her grumbling but she then slept for 45 mins.

And I helped her to get her naps and her night sleep sorted. Alone, just me and a book, no arguments, no justifying myself, no-one telling me I'm daft, just me trying to do my best.
Of course i feel bad I didn't order the magic book earlier and get her sorted before, but I've done it now.

steaknife · 25/08/2009 13:40

And an enormous sigh of relief at the benefits payment into my bank. Such a relief.

I guess the thing is that I know I am doing a good job as DD's mum. Those of you that have met her, pretty normal 1 year old no? But DH seems such a controly-worrier that he ends up undermining me. Or maybe he just doesn't trust me, or he is overcompensating for not being around. I don't know?

for example, he was worried she didn't eat much, I tried to reassure him that she wasn't going to starve if she didn't have a big appetite and then in the last two weeks her appetite has exploded. Much to his amazement last night as she chomped down a bowl of pasta and pesto, some banana and a yogurt. And I still managed not to say - I told you so.

Still no more worries on that front come next Wednesday.

steaknife · 25/08/2009 13:51

I'm off out into the sunshine, i hope you ladies have some wherever you are.

LoveBuckets · 25/08/2009 15:00

Hi Steaky
Deffo overcompensating and it will go on for the next 17yrs unfortunately (esp when you meet someone else and he gets confused about his role .)
But one day he will stop and say what a good job you've done. Hurray for dosh, sleep and peace and quiet in the meantime.

Off to start chicken casserole. I have a packet of Ikea meatball gravy I'm tempted to stir in at the end - is that shocking?

steaknife · 25/08/2009 15:46

hi buckets goodness I was just wiffling on to myself there wasn't I.

I have got DD a birthday present. It is a wooden farm, sposed to be 2+ but it is v cute and can sit on a high shelf if it is too dangerous to play with.

oopsacoconut · 25/08/2009 15:52

Steaky - Hi DD is getting a farm too which is 2+ but we will remove all swallowable animals first. She is getting this one I am getting stupidly excited about Sunday now.

Am watching DH on Flog it now.
