Well hello all

Back from holiday and back to normal after a couple of days of tiredness - lovely time a bit intense at times with some villa confusion and a long time with IL's but really nice -

Nutty - there are no words for his stupidity I only hope that this gives you the strength to realise just how much better you and the girls are without him! tosspot (him not you)

I am very excited today as my bloom baby chair arrived while we were away and DH has just put it together (I wont let K go in it yet as he gets everything covered in gob and sick!!!) - I bought it for him - honestly!!

Sorry I cant respond to everyone - but aoif - too soon in my opinion - K is already grabbing and putting everything in his mouth but I am in the WFH camp and will wait until 6 months and then just put the food in front of him - I can't be doing with too much hassle! I have no concerns that he will not eat - he is a porker!! Like the girls said if she was losing weight and screaming constantly maybe but she and you sound like you are doing OK

Re rolling over - K has it down to a t - he sits under his jungle gym, rolls over and back again about ten times, plays with the animals and then falls asleep looking at himself in the mirror! But he is bloody dangerous - will try and roll off anything changing mats, beds, sofa's - you have to have eyes in the back of your head!!!

He had his third jabs yesterday and was very good but today has a big red patch over what feels like a hard ball where the injection was - he didn't have it the last couple of times - is this normal?

Sorry again to not post properly - will attempt to catch up asap!

Just off to the tattooist to book in my appointment for sat...

bronze · 29/07/2009 13:49

oooh what you gettig~? I've had tp put off my tattoo again after dhs latest spending incident

PuzzleRocks · 29/07/2009 14:50

Aargh, why are childrens clothes so expensive? Have just spent a small fortune we can ill afford at JoJo Maman Bebe. Tis lovely stuff though and Ellen was in desperate need of some basics and a new raincoat and winter coat.

Schulte - I want hot chocolate and choco pops for breakfast.

Bronze - Why? [goes off to check the captives haven't escaped the dungeon]

Aoifesmama - I second what WFH and Bronze said re weaning.
I love ignoring my HV's "advice"

BB - When Holly had her second set the nurse mentioned the possibility of a swelling like that. She said it was nothing to worry about.
Tattoo? Did I miss something?

Schulte · 29/07/2009 14:59

Welcome back BB Well done Kara on the rolling! No idea about the lump, I'd probably mention it to the nurse though in case it's an allergic reaction.

Well little H is just trying to fall asleep next door... a bit of shouting going on... might have to go and help her in a sec. Have any of the babies here found their thumbs yet? I mean reliably, finding it every time they need it?

Am getting very excited here as I am planning a trip to London for DH and me. So we pretty much live in London anyway but we thought we'd leave the DDs with the PILs when Hazel is weaned, and play tourists, and stay in a really nice hotel and go to see a show. If anyone here can recommend good places to have pre theatre dinner and post theatre cocktails?

Schulte · 29/07/2009 15:09

Puzzle, JoJo Maman Bebe Have you won the lottery? They do have lovely stuff.

PuzzleRocks · 29/07/2009 15:20

Yup, I have condemned Holly to wearing cast offs forever.

OP posts:
Schulte · 29/07/2009 15:33

Just put H back down in her cot after she'd fallen asleep on me and I could swear her head circumference has doubled since I last looked at her! So maybe that's what all the feeding has been about?

Schulte · 29/07/2009 15:36

Oh damn it, she's waking up again!

bronze · 29/07/2009 15:54

Puzzle they'e so expensive because youbuy them at jojo bebe maman

I have spent less than £50 on dds clothes. I inherit from a few people and get stuff freeycle. I keep the nice stuff freecycle the rest and then freecycle it all afterwards. Lovely clothes fot next to nothing (I'm known for not being proud/a skinflint though)

I'm getting everyones first initial on my wedding ring finger but am having it go under my rings. Have to wait again for my third planned ring

Juwesm · 29/07/2009 16:12

Howdy all. We've just had a long weekend up at my parents, which was very nice and relaxing. It is soooo lovely watching my parents with wee H. My Dad, who is generally a bit of a 'strong, silent' type, will sit for hours playing with him and a balloon! And my Mom would run away with him altogether if she could. I overdosed on pork products - hot pork sandwiches, which for some inexplicable reason don't seem to exist in Kent, faggots and pork scratchings Also, thinking about it, bacon butties two days running and roast ham on Sunday We don't however, appear to have contracted swine flu!

We also went to a wedding reception. We only popped in for a couple of hours, but it was a nice evening. The brides looked lovely, and H was much admired by all. He sat in the sling desperately trying to take it all in, staring at everyone before thoroughly conking out!

We've been to weigh-in today, and in the last 3 weeks H has gained 13 ounces! A new world record! That is more than double his usual weight gain, and brings us up to 10lb 3oz! But did we get any encouragement or congratulations from the HV? Did we bugger. Just the look, and a 'have you been advised about top-ups?', because he still falls just below the bottom line. Grrrrrr. I, however, am mightily encouraged

Right, now shall try and do a bit of a catch-up!

Schulte · 29/07/2009 16:18

The brideS Juw? More than one?

Well done on the weight gain, so pleased for you!

Elpis · 29/07/2009 16:34

Thanks for the coffee - I'll have Bonne Maman raspberry tartelettes with. Yum. You know what I miss about the night feeds (obv we don't count 4.30-5am as night any more)? The biscuits I used to get through!

Isla too is very easily distracted during feeds. Arrival of her passport has just caused great excitement. For reasons best known to myself I am a bit tempted to take her to Warsaw for a few days (without DH, but in a decent hotel). Am I insane?

bronze · 29/07/2009 16:36

Nah I find travelling with one baby so so easy. easier than travelling with DH

Elpis · 29/07/2009 16:49

Pre theatre dinner - book a table for 5pm at Bocca Di Lupo in Archer St. I ate there at 40 weeks pg and with Isla in a sling two weeks ago, and they were lovely to me both times. It's the best Italian in London. If you like fish, Loch Fyne in Catherine St is reliable. For vaguely French stuff, Arbutus in Frith St is good and has a pre-theatre deal - but small portions.

We're holding off on the ebm today because Isla had her 12 week jabs yesterday and was a bit traumatised. But must try again tomorrow. any tips for getting her to accept the bottle? Is it best to wait until she's ravenous, or introduce it when she's relatively calm? And should I use the real thing as a reward for taking a little ebm?

BabyBolat · 29/07/2009 16:50

Juw that is bloody brilliant well done you and H! he'll be catching up in no time!!!

I'm getting Karahan's name but in turkish scriptures on my wrist

Thans for advice about lump am keeping an ey eon it - if it's stillthere tomoorrow I will be giving them a call - it doesn't seem to be bothering him!

Oooh puzz what did you buy - send us some links - yeah it's expensive but think how cute she will look!!!!

Elpis - do it!!!

BabyBolat · 29/07/2009 16:54

Elpis - calm definitely Kara has it regulalry and still wont take it if he is grumpy! I started off doing half feeds with EBM and then topping up with breast at the end so he didn't get confused! He's fine with it now - give him one a day and one day a week when he is at mums

Elpis · 29/07/2009 16:54

bronze - LOL. Yeah, we're driving back from the south of France in September. Or we were. I've booked a train ticket to Paris and then Eurostar, partly because I can feed Isla more easily (you can reserve a single seat! No tutting!) but also because I just don't like sharing a car with DH over long distances... and explaining that she may not be shouting but I REALLY NEED TO FEED HER or I won't be responsible for my letdown...

PuzzleRocks · 29/07/2009 18:42

Bronze - I know but it's my only extravagance. I never had nice or new clothes as a child and often got bullied so it gives me a fuzzy glow to do it. Silly really.
I also don't have the patience to hunt stuff out. People tell me that Matalan is great but I could never be arsed to look through rails and rails of stuff.
Love the tattoo idea. I still haven't come up with my own tribute idea yet. Might add something to one of my existing tatts.

Ju - Oink. Sounds like you had a splendid time.
Congrats on H's weight gain.

Elpis - Do you work in central London? I used to work in Broadwick Street.

BB - Nice. Makes me wish I had alternative characters I could use. I'm going to have to go down the symbolic route.
I'll try and post links later. It's quite tomboyish stuff but she will look gorgeous.

OP posts:
Juwesm · 29/07/2009 18:47

Schulte - aye, 2 brides, 'twas a civil partnership ceremony. (You can actually get 'Congratulations on your Civil Partnership' cards - what's wrong with a plain old 'Congratulations on your Wedding Day'? It smacks of trying too hard to be 'okay with it' to me.)
How goes the poo situation with H?

Swali - grr at thoughtless DH. I don't think they realise how much better an uninterrupted 6 hours is compared with, say, 10 hours in bed where you've had to wake up to feed several times. Have you had some help with B's harness now? No bedtime here yet. He tends to go to sleep in my arms downstairs about 8, and then we tend to move up to bed for feed and bedtime at 10, but by no means set in stone. Glad you got the computer sorted. Were DH here he'd try to talk you into getting a Mac as apparently they just don't get viruses.

Boff - if you return to the hospital, I suggest parking right in front of the main entrance (though obv not ambulance bay ) and when you get a ticket send it to the chief exec along with a description of their appalling disabled parking facilities, citing the Disability Discrimination Act for good measure.
How is Boffin Dad's reflux now? Has it settled? And the BP these days?

Bicnod - how's Oscar been doing today? Poor wee mite, suffering a nasty cold all this time

Nutty - Yay for consultant appt, and yay for all the brilliant progress you've made with getting everything sorted for you and the girls. I kind of agree with just letting him have the quickie divorce, as that will get it all out of the way and allow you to start afresh more easily, unless him citing some kind of imaginary 'unreasonable behaviour' will affect how much money he has to give you for the girls.

MrsG -how goes the siege? Do you need a MN food drop?

Welcome Elpis and Aoifesmama!

WFH - I have the Calin Bleu gauze in red and getting on quite well with it, though it took a fair bit of practice! It's supposed to be one of the coolest wraps, but H still gets pretty warm in it, though I think he is just generally a warm baby.
Our paed appt is not for another 4 weeks. Hopefully he'll continue to gain weight at the new, improved rate until then! Also, saw this and thought of you

BB - welcome back, and congratulations on your new arrival! H has had a little lump where he had his Men C jab 3 weeks ago. She did say he might, especially as he hasn't got much of a thigh muscle to speak of . I'm just going to get them to check it at 16 week jabs next Weds, not that I imagine there is much that can be done about it.

Puzzle - mmmmmm, lurve Jojo. I remember going through the catalogue and deciding what nice things I would buy, back when I still had a salary! I did get some maternity things from there, but no baby clothes yet. But we're probably saving loads of money on clothes, as H still easily fits into his 0-3 month stuff! Every cloud..... I do believe he is nearly as big as Orbit was when he was born !

PuzzleRocks · 29/07/2009 19:47

Oh no Ju, it's not stuff for Holly. As much as I would love to buy her stuff from there, she would grow out of it so quickly. The clothes are for my elder one.

I agree about trying too hard. I have seen those cards in Marks. They also do a to Mr and Mr, and a Mrs and Mrs one.

OP posts:
Schulte · 29/07/2009 20:25

We're down to 4 poos a day

PuzzleRocks · 29/07/2009 21:16

Hurrah for minimal fecal production!

OP posts:
Schulte · 29/07/2009 21:26

Well that's still quite a lot of poo I'd prefer her to go back to once every three days really!

Bleuravin · 29/07/2009 21:27

Hi everyone!
My mom and aunt are visiting So not much time... how everyone is doing well. Hugs

Anyone have any pointers about travel in London?
