Oh dear pepper. Doesn't seem like swine flu does it? Hope not.

Hey all, Pepper sorry to hear about your DD, have you tried steam? It was a godsend for Poppy when she had her recent cough/ cold.

Sorry for not posting much recently folks, I've been a bit down. Not much has happened either so not much to talk about...altho I did the bloody Davina postnatal DVD on Sunday!!!!!! And survived!!!!! I've now been discharged from the physio, altho I am still a bit achey she just said just keep doing the exercises and I'll get better in time. I think the AD's have definitely helped with my knees but not with the PND, I've been on them 4 weeks today so should really be feeling a bit better by now... I'm gonna give it another week or two then go back to the docs. I can't even watch much on the telly now due to my anxiety levels, Paul got out the Benjamin Button DVD the other night and I had to leave him to it after 2 mins, just couldn't handle it. Weird.

Anyway, I'm off to bed, we've been Liverpool today on the hunt for a christening dress. There was quite a nice one in John Lewis but I'm not sure. Will get the link for you sometime so you can give me your opinions. I was set on a really long gown but seeing Poppy in one today made me think I prefer the shorter dresses. (Poppy's first experience trying on clothes today)

Oh and I tried on loads of dresses in Monsoon for myself for the Christening and looked massive in all of them

Got the underwater pics thro the post this morning, they're sooo cool! I'll put them on FB sometime.

All the best MM and let us know how you get on x

Night all!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/07/2009 22:48

Aubergenie (or anyone) do you have a good method for getting s back to sleep when he wakes from teething pain? D is currently screaming his head off as I'm out of ideas. He's had nurofen, teething gel, cuddles from both dh and myself, boob (which calms him only whilst attached) and been left for a bit, but none of it has worked, and he's now been awake since my last post, so 45mins already.

RachieW · 15/07/2009 09:18

CSWS- What did you do to get ds off to sleep in the end? I don't have any advice as we had exactly the same here last night and did everything you did. Ds went down quite easily then less than an hour later was awake crying. He'd settle for a minute and the cry again. We tried cuddles, rocking, calpol, teething powder, Norah Jones on the ipod. In the end we just had to put him down in his cot and let him cry Dh stayed with him patting him and shushing. In the end he fell back into an exhausted sleep. For us letting him cry worked but we did feel really mean

RachieW · 15/07/2009 09:21

HMM- Hi! So nice to see you back on hear and I'm sorry your PND is no better Good news about the aches easing off and well done on the Davina dvd. Would you recommend it? I really need to do something. Looking forward to seeing the underwater pics Oh and I saw the christening dresses in John Lewis yesterday and they all so beautiful. Was looking for a wedding outfit for ds with no luck.

just a quickie as on phone sitting in car whilst ds naps a bit before 9month check. Was hoping there would be news from mm.

Time crying and then another comfort feed/suck got him off in the end, but it took an hour in total. He then woke for feed at 2.44 and again at 5.49, which was essentially the start of the day, as despite going back to sleep for a few mins, he then did big wee which soaked him through despite fleece wrap. His first bit of his first tooth did cut through the gum overnight though, so he must have been in a lot of pain. Will double up with calpol and nurofen tonight if necessary.

Hooray for the tooth csws! Congrats

purpleflower · 15/07/2009 10:20

Hi all, sorry for the moaning the last few days. I'm feeling alot better today I do still love him so I'm going to work at it. The kids are the most important and they are happy when their daddy is around. He was on his best behavior last night without me even saying anything so he obviously sees something isn't right.

This morning I found out DD doesn't have a nut allergy. DS took her bowl of raisens so he could bake a cake so she stole his peanut butter sandwich

I hope all went well MM.

CSWS we have had a couple of nights like that with DD, the first night we ended up taking her for a drive and the second time out in the pushchair. She didn't fall asleep while out but it calmed her enough to get her to sleep when we got home. I can't really leave her to cry it out in case she wakes DS up. Great the tooth is through now though

Yay for the sofas MyJob

lol at MM's DH! I really want to meet him as he's had me laughing for weeks about the washing line thing, too. Funny man!!

I just sat in the A&E carpark with Q and gave him calprofen. No allergy! But it helps A LOT A LOT A LOT!!! SOOO much better than calpol! WOWOWOWOW!!!! sorry, I'm in awe of medication

purpleflower · 15/07/2009 16:10

OMG OMG OMG!! I just found the fishtank I have always wanted on ebay less than 5 miles away!!

Sorry I will calm down a bit now, I'm all excited and DP hasn't finished work yet so I'm going to tell you lot I have 2 tanks taking up loads of space in my living room but I truely love them. I had discussed with DP swapping them both for one huge corner unit which will give us a corner back again. They have all been to far away but this one is perfect although very slightly above budget. I'm not sure DP is going to be impressed when he gets home because I have mentally sold half of his stuff

Does anybody need any 12-18 and 18-24 boys clothes? I saved everything from DS and obviously don't need it now. If you do just let me know and we can sort something out

Marthasmama · 15/07/2009 17:32

Hello ladies! It's me! I have reported that silly man's post so hopefully weirdos won't contact him. I am being a very good girl and working hard at getting better quickly. Thus far I think my c-section was worse. I still have amazingly low blood pressure 84/39 but everything seems to be ok. I've only just got my phone back from DH so I'll catch up properly now.......

Marthasmama · 15/07/2009 17:49

oh and not too bothered about the ovary. It had been damaged beyond repair by the cyst. The cyst was bigger than a very big baby and my wound is from my groin to above my belly button! Ouch and yuck!

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/07/2009 17:55

Make sure you really sell half his stuff and not just mentally won't you pf .

Lovely to see you MM. Better than c-section sounds good, but make sure that you don't go overestimating yourself and do too much. Do you look instantly thinner?

It might actually have been 3 teeth that cut the gums last night, and not just 1. Both of top two are sort of cut through, but in a different place to where I was feeling . No wonder he bled when he bashed his mouth yesterday, as the whole tooth is so close to the front surface.

lol at star's medication transformation!

Star - welcome to the wonderful world of medicated babies! Hope your life gets a little easier now. Pain killers are a godsend, I can confirm that at the moment!

Pepper - poor dd. I really hope it's nothing serious. There has now been a case of swine flu at ds's school! That would be the last thing I'd need.

CSWS and myjob - yesterday tummy was much flatter but today it has swollen up. So I still look fat!

MM so glad you're ok! How is M? Are you having to express milk in hospital? Sorry if I missed that

I think I remember she was going to come visit and feed...

Yeah I don't know what I was thinking before... if there's a way to make him feel better, I should just do it - why suffer if it doesn't hurt to give the meds?

Swine flu is everywhere. When I called the dr about swine flu being at DH's school, the dr said that DH and Q and I ALL have a better chance of catching it strolling through waitrose or tesco than from a random case in his school
I guess it's all over the place now, but it's not so life threatening so it's ok. That's what dr said... then asked for my name again and took a note... I had a dream taht night of the gp surgery workers coming by while we slept, boarding us in our house and putting a red X on the door! ha!

aubergenie · 15/07/2009 20:24

MM- So glad it went OK. about the ovary, but you were kind of expecting that weren?t you. I hope they?re pumping you full of drugs to keep you comfy.

Sorry CSWS ? I only just saw your question. S was crying so much last night and I was tired so I just went to bed and brought him in with me. That?s my method of getting him back to sleep ? but probably not very helpful to you. I can?t remember the last time he slept in his cot all night. Hurrah for D?s teeth though! Poor fella must have been in agony.

HMM ? you?re feeling so anxious. It must be horrible for you.

Star ? What is calprofen? Can you buy it over the counter?

We?ve got so many people off with swine flu. Loads of the staff and children have had it. Apparently it?s horrible but that tamiflu makes you feel worse (according to one teacher anyway).

By the way, I?ve got a lovely recipe for a sugar free banana cake if anyone wants it. Stan?s been going mad for it.

I'm feeling fine myjob. I'm going to have a hideous scar but I think I'm going to recover faster than I expected. My mum commented on my tummy looking smaller! Oh and the Monsoon sale will be on for ages yet!

Star - sounds like something I'd dream about! I guess you're right, it is everywhere now!

Marthasmama · 15/07/2009 20:39

Missed your post Aubergenie - yes, I was expecting it and was surprised when the consultant said he'd leave it! I am having hardly any drugs as they cocked up gave me loads of morphine and I couldn't feed M. I'm only on paracetamol now! I'm well 'ard!

M is ok, but not very happy. She apparently screams like she's being stabbed when offered a bottle! Dh and M had a rough night.
