hi all...quick post to say Joe has CP but not suprising so he's off nursery today and have friends for lunch so mad dash to deli with Joe in tow (although weil have to hide his spots so as not to get someone shouting about his spots liket hey did with ds1)...will try to catch up later

HMM - ADs take 4 to 6 weeks to kick in properly. You do get a slight effect within the first week (could be placebo but don't know as lots of people report 'instant high' as it were) but then get a lull until 4-6 weeks. hence why lots of people stop taking them and say they are rubbish - they're not, but they take some time to work properly - keep at it!!!

aubergenie · 25/06/2009 10:41

Poor Joe. I think Stan might have CP too, Loulou. He had a spot on his face yesterday that I thought was becuase he'd been dribbling so much. Today though, there seem to be a lot more, in crops, all over his body. Quite big puss-y looking ones too.

Am I supposed to go to the doc for CP or just leave it? And what what the consensus, calomine lotion or cream? I'll pop down the chemist later.

HMM- I tried to look at your pics but they wouldn't load. Maybe we've crashed the site.

myjob = that was fantastic! I was so out of touch I couldn't see that I'd ever catch up!
All quiet here. DS1 at school, DS2 at nursery (minus the watering can) and DD is whinging in her cot asleep...

aubergenie · 25/06/2009 12:42

That was a very impressive round up, Myjob!!

jenwa · 25/06/2009 12:43

csws nightmare re nappies then, he obvioulsy is building up on his feed in the night then! I hate 7am but am usually up then, alarm goes off at 6:45 for playgroup mornings otherwise when we wake so usually between 7-8. Nice Lie in rachie

Have given pitta bread here too with humous or on own or with a garlic and chees spread or marmite, just cut into strips really. Got some English muffins and we are going to make pizza this afty on them (annabal karmel style ish) so P will be having them for tea

hm yeh for commando crawl, P lunges backwards but is desperate to go forwards. Weather geting brighter now too so I am happy now. Did you send some sun to me??/

bethoo · 25/06/2009 12:44

wow myjob perhaps yo should do that weekly or maybe monthly as it is hard ot keep up with you all as you are still chattering 20 pages a minute!
i tend ot be on the natal thread trying to give advice to the newbies! though i took that quiz on facebook and apparantly i was on my first baby! thought i would have been a geek like you myjob!
well i am 12 weeks now so just waiting for my letter of confirmation for the scan!
hope all is well. maia has 2 teeth and suspect it will not be long til she is crawling though i am in no hurry what with ds playing in dogs water bowl and puppies everywhere! jsut one more thing to keep my eye on!
peed off with my mum as everything is a competition or an opportunity to get one up on me. she is more like that annoying girl at school who thinks she can out do everyone rather than be my mum! when i had ds my dad commented that how come i never got stretchmarks and she replied well i had 3! then after dd was born and i was going out i asked her if she could manage (this is the woman who has to ask if hte bath water is ok!) and she replied i had 3! so yesterday i said that i will be 17 weeks at my sisters weddiing so will prob not fit my bridesmaid dress so she replied ''well no one knew i was pregnant at 8 months with my third child!'' i should have replied that she had not lost her baby weight from the second so no she still would have looked overweight! sorry ladies for appearing a bitch but my hormones have made me get my back up but then she does that all the time anyway! am i being unreasonable??

jenwa · 25/06/2009 12:50

Righ sorry only read the first page!

Blooming heck myjob you do have a good memory although wish I could erase the
bit re my PILs as feel rather about the whinge I had but you are a complete star remembering all that

loulou sorry about the cp hope he is ok.
aubergenie shame S may have CP too I never went to drs with DD1 as nothing they can do really. We did use calomine lotion on dd1 and some antihistamine med, chemist will be good to advise though.

Meant to be going to a style party tonight, £10 and you take smoe itmes you dont really wear anymore and its a kind of swap party and getting ideas, you can then have the lday come and sort your wardobe or take you shopping for extra but to be honest feel rotten with snotty nose cold and hayfever and hate sniffling and dont want to be sat there bunged up and blowing my nose all night and spreading bugs!

bethoo · 25/06/2009 13:22

jenwa sounds like fun, i would love ot go to a party like that instead of the bloody candle ones i get invited to!

i think getitng cp earlier is better as the babies forget about it and then they are basically immune against it and it is more dangerous for adults to get so i know it is hard ot watch thekiddies squirming and know you cant do anything about it butrather that then developing shingles etc when they are adults iykwim or am i talking crap again?

Honeymoonmummy · 25/06/2009 14:33

Jesus MyJob, you're brilliant! You should do that at the start of each thread

Thanks Rachie/ Loulou. I'm gonna perservere with the AD's but it's good to know I'll need to hang in there for that long.

Um, has anyone got an easy white bread recipe for the breadmaker? Thought I had a book with it but can't find it

aubergenie · 25/06/2009 14:48

Here you go HMM
1 tsp yeast
475g strong white flour
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 0z butter (I use olive oil, just cos it's always handy and works just as well)
1 1/4 tsp salt (I cut it down to about 1/2 tsp)
320 ml water

Marthasmama · 25/06/2009 15:55

Hello all! I have good news.... I am allowed open visiting hours for M and DH. Will tell you more later........

jenwa · 25/06/2009 17:12

Oh dear, re read my post and its all jumbled

bethoo poor you with your mum, they always know better don't they dont worry and just ignore it. My mum told me the minute me and my sis were born she lost her baby weight and when I had dd1 she was crying and it was because I still had a belly any way the other day I was talking about my tummy and it not being the same and she said her was not either and it takes a awhile to get back so she obvioulsy had forgotten she told me she shrunk straight back down previously! You are slim so will show quicker so you can just say that to her and that it really does not matter if you dont fit into the dress as its not like you are just overweight
Still not sure what to do about the party later, if I was feeling better would go but know have a busy weekend too and off to london next weekend to see my sis with DD1.

mm yeh for your good news, I bet you are well chuffed really pleased for you.

Yay MM!!!!! So happy for you! Sorry to hear about DS myjob I hope the parents evening goes well.

star6 · 25/06/2009 19:16

I tried to join a playgroup today and they put me on a waiting list Took loads of "details" from me (including mine and dh's jobs ). ANd I got a long and snobby "hmmmmmmmmm" when I said I usually work but I'm off for the summer - then she told me there MIGHT be an opening in September! It's at the local children's centre for goodness sake! At the end she said, "so you're not a stay at home mum, then?" ugh!

Honeymoonmummy · 25/06/2009 19:39

Brilliant news MM!!!!!! [sm ile][grin ][ grin]

Thanks for the recipe Aubergenie! And - um - how do you use a breadmaker? Do u just put everything on at once? Does anything go in the outer shell or just air?

Star, that's crap. Complain.

Honeymoonmummy · 25/06/2009 19:40

God, that's quite scary!

Thank you ladies, I am very proud of myself but I think that I only had the balls to fight because I could feel the weight of MN behind me! Hurrah for all the lovely ladies of Mumsnet!

Myjob - You have a wonderful memory! Awwww poor ds and his mummy, I'm sure they'll look beyond his recent behaviour tonight at parent's evening. They know he's not been himself. Yay for N's teeth. M is teething like mad but nothing is even bumping through her gums! We have a way to go I think.

Hm - Yay for commando crawling, it won't be long now..... Hope those achy joints are feeling better you'll be chasing P all over the place soon! Definitely continue with the ADs.

Bethoo - Relatives can be a real pain sometimes can't they? I love my mum to bits but I am a bit upset with her at the moment as she thinks I should be fighting to breastfeed M and that I should just start weaning her off the boob now. I normally look to my mum for support but I feel a bit that she's not behind me on this one. Mum's have the power to make us feel wonderful but also to make us feel shit. Just vow to never do the same to your daughter.

Aubergenie - Poor S. There really is a lot of CP going round isn't there?! At least he did you the courtesy of catching it before you have to go back to work. What a kind boy.

Jenwa - Sorry you're suffering so much with the dreaded hayfever. DH is also suffering and wants to boil his head as his eyes are so itchy. Don't know why he's been suffering so badly this year.

Pepper - about ds2! Sounds like the sort of thing my ds would do and he's old enough to know better!

M crawled properly today, only a couple of 'inches' but it was proper crawling. She also rocked back and forth on all fours but got upset about that! She is now walking to Daddy or DS if I hold her hands and walk with her. She gets sooooo excited about it and squeals with delight. Oh and she is also waving, but I think she's been doing it for a while and I didn't realise! I'm such a bad mummy! I only twigged today that she was waving because she waved to me when I said hello.

Marthasmama · 25/06/2009 20:38

Ah bugger, I knew I'd leave someone out!

Star - That's rubbish. How dare they be all judgey with you? Can you not find another playgroup so that when this one calls you to offer a place you can say, 'Oh I don't think so, I have found somewhere better thank you.'

star6 · 25/06/2009 20:54

I plan to MM because I am good at being passive aggressive like that . She was soooooo snobby! I felt like crying and saying I'm doing the BEST that I can you b! But I couldn't do that...

MM yay about the waving.

I can't find where S has chicken pox aubergenie, but just read it on MM's post and sorry about that. Poor guy. is it a bad case? watch, I'll post this and then find it straight away afterward

star6 · 25/06/2009 20:55

yep just saw it aubergenie
yuck. Sounds awful. I would go to the doctor just because I'd want to be sure it's chicken pox... but I'm a bit paranoid and over dependent on doctors

aubergenie · 25/06/2009 21:29

Ha ha Star! I'm always reading about things I totally missed in other people's posts. That playgroup sounds very odd. How weird that they wanted to know what your jobs were.

MM - Great news! Well done you!!

HMM - In case you hadn't made the bread yet, all you do is put the ingredients into the removable pan thing in the same order as they appear on the recipe (to keep the yeast and water away from each other until they're supposed to be mixed and start reacting) then set the breadmaker for the setting you need, in this case White Bread. The main unit is the bit that heats up and cooks the loaf. Just make sure you take it out as soon as it beeps, as it goes soggy if it sits in there once it's cooked.

Myjob - How did parents' evening go?

Well S is pretty much covered in spots. I've got one more week of maternity leave, but I'll have to miss all the nice things I was going to do and stay at home. Boo. At least he got it before we go on holiday. I bought some calamine lotion, but the woman in the chemist was a bit dim so I didn't ask her to recommend anything else. He's really struggling to get to sleep though. I think it's going to be another long night...
