Ekka- I've just requested to be your fb friend so I can nose at your photos

Star- I am liking your planning time! There never seems to be enough of it for me but at least teaching Nursery I won't have the marking. I think non-shouting teachers are the most effective. I just sometimes can't help but raise my voice but really you are right and keeping calm is the best way. We use rewards at our school and I quite like it but I've not heard of "Responsive Classroom" so will google now and see what I can find. Sounds interesting and I'm always open to alternatives. Although I think my whole behaviour management structure will be completely different in Nursery!

Oh and please don't anyone answer my question on parma ham now as ds has eaten it and loved it ...I will wait to see any negative affects...

Marthasmama · 13/07/2009 20:26

Evening ladies. I'm only popping in quickly as I need to actually spend some time with DH tonight (his idea, tsk). Thank you all for your well wishes. I shall try to get on MN to catch up via my iPhone and maybe post if I can think of anything worth saying.

Bye for now!

xxxx

star6 · 13/07/2009 20:31

sorry rachie, we're veggie here, so not sure about parma ham. Q did eat almost ALL of my mini spinach and goats cheese quiche today though. I know it's probably got a lot of salt (got it from bakery) but anything else that I should be wary of with this? He'll survive the night, right? When can we stop worrying about giving babies food??? When can we just give them normal food like people? no, really?

responsive classroom

to pepper!

star6 · 13/07/2009 20:36

I'm going to a La Leche League meeting this Friday because I went so often at the beginning when I was desperate for help ALL THE TIME, so I'd like to go back now and try to give back some support to new moms and encourage them to keep going because it's so worth it (I also want them to see that I survived and that I CAN bf after all... every time I went there, I was in utter agony with bleeding cracked nipples or mastitis... ugh!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/07/2009 21:04

oh enjoy your meeting star. I really like the ones that I go to.

Good luck mm. We'll all be thinking of you. post just to let us know you're ok, even if you don't think you've anything interesting to say.

pf what a nightmare re you DH! Has he always been funny about you going out? Surely it is helping you feel better socialising? Does he not realise this? Sounds like he is not actually helping you very much with the PND! Maybe you can have a chat with him?

mm wow that M said a word, sometimes I think P says "hiya dadda" it comes out as "iyadadda" but is more like a sound and said it to me today when clearly I am NOT Dadda!!!! Hope tomorrow goes well for you and that M also is ok and things all work out well.

loulou P had the lumps in her gums but still nothing there! I keep saying her bottom two are coming and you can see them but they are still not appearing! Sorry its difficult with your DS and wanting attention, I know what you mean. I am trying to do things with dd1 like the set up and play, we got lots of crafty things and today I set the table up and started it with her then sorted P then went back to her so she feels I am doing stuff with her and that leaving her is ok as I will come back IUSWIM? I have to explain to DD1 that P needs me at times but as soon as I have done what I need I will go to dd1 and be with her and try sometimes to do the cuddling with P and read a story to DD1 but it is juggling!

jenwa · 13/07/2009 21:27

oh and meant to say that when I put DD1 in bed tonight she gave me a huge cuddle and kiss and told me that when she grows up she will be a doctor and fix my ears bless her. she then went on to say she would fix my tummy and arms, I said my arms were actually ok bless her, she nearly made me cry, she knows I get down with my hearing etc!

aubergenie · 13/07/2009 21:31

I've just been having a quick look at your Responsive Classroom link Star. It looks interesting. What kind of class size do you have in your school? I feel that class sizes in schools here are a real hindrance to being able to interact with the children as much as we'd like to. It can be so frustrating.

DS is going through a strange phase at the moment. He's just learnt to go from lying down to standing and wants to do it all the time. When he's feeding he wants to push himself up constantly. A few minutes ago he woke up so I went in and he was sitting up in his cot but the minute I picked him up he was straight back asleep again. He was exhausted but it's almost as though it's an instinctual thing. Does anyone else's LO do the same?

Those almost- teeth are annoying aren't they Loulou. S has got a mouthful of the things, but they're still not here yet!

Wow, Martha is a very clever girl .

Sorry you're so PF.

Marthasmama · 14/07/2009 08:56

Just off to have my second anti-MRSA shower, yuck. DS was a poo-bag and wouldn't give me a cuddle this morning. I accidentally ate after the time I was supposed to but only by 10 mins, I doubt it will be a problem. I'm off to carry on getting sorted and have my last drink. I will get DH to give you an up-date later on. Speak to you soon ladies.

Oh, and Aubergenie - I think Monsoon's sale starts today.......

Myjob - That dress you liked in Monsoon baby is reduced in the sale too......

purpleflower · 14/07/2009 09:06

I went to bed at 6pm last night I didn't tell DP where I was going, just went and crashed out on the bed. I feel a bit better today but could still sleep some more DP did tidy up a bit and bathed the DCs

DP doesn't believe in depression, he believes pills don't help and that it's a case of mind over matter. Basically he thinks I'm putting it on. He has already said that I'm different to how I was after DS, but I'm alot worse this time and I've actually admitted that I have it which I didn't after DS.

I don't really have alot of choice but to stay with him though. I have nowhere to go and no idea where to even begin sorting things out. My confidence has been destroyed over the years. My family all thinks the sun shines out of his backside. He also told me he would fight me for full custody of the DCs as he thinks I am mentally unstable

DS is really playing up, so far this morning he has already hit DD in the face with a toy so she has a nice bruise under her eye and bitten her finger

Well done M for the word, it sounds like DD is saying 'out there' as she crawls towards the back door but I think thats just wishful thinking on our part as DS spoke so late.

I would give DD parma ham rachie. I am very relaxed on their food though, I try and keep the salt to a very minimum but I give them a taste of as many different tastes I can. DS can be very fussy over food but DD has yet to turn anything down and probably eats more than DS

Your DD1 sounds lovely Jenwa

I have got my lovely stockings on and nearly ready to go. I had to sign the form saying they could take both my ovaries if they need to. :-(

I hope it went well MM and that they are taking good care of you now. I hope M is well

We went to see a friend/colleague from school today and Q was wanting to be held by me the whole time. He's usually happy to play and be with others. Could this be because of the tooth pain? what's going on? He also was incredibly happy to see Dh but really wanted to be held by me this eve... I like it!! But not sure what's happening.

Q really likes those organix apple raspberry cereal bars, but the box of 6 costs £2.25... does anyone know how to make them? I know it's fruits and oats... do you mash it all up and bake it? Help? anyone? I want them to be chewy like those, too... not crunchy.

Aubergenie - class sizes at my school range from 16-20 cap is 20. But I did responsive classroom in America, too with class sizes between 16-35. 35 in NYC . Supposed to be capped at 30 and got down to 30 within a few months. 30 6 year olds was very challenging!

I think it's just the chewing/choking thing myjob, as they are a bit dry and crumbly, but nothing wrong with having them now if you think that N can manage. Iirc there was a recipe or two for something similar on Aitch's blog waaaay back. If I get time later then I'll have a look.

Eek for signing the form MM, and bad form if they suddenly sprung that on you with no warning. Hope that it all went well and that no ovary removal was necessary at all.

pf - him thinking that you are mentally unstable is quite different from a court thinking it. If you had somewhere to go, then would you leave him, or do you still want to be together, but just with things improved from how they are now?

Went to see dd in her nursery school play this morning. Was very proud, esp as the programme singled out a handful of children who had put tonnes of effort in to it over the last term, and she was one of them . Am uploading a bit of video of it to fb. The children had come up with all the ideas for it, and written it with the teachers, so it was lots of stuff that they enjoyed, with the theme being their grandad's 64th birthday, and looking back on his life and all the things that he'd enjoyed doing.

They had some photos taken a few weeks ago at school, and the photographer's mum (she works at the school) phoned last night to see if it would be ok to use one of the pics of dd on her business card, if she could get the design sorted ok. We got the card (and the pics we'd ordered) today, and she is on it, along with just 1 other pupil! She seems to be quite photogenic (when she manages not to screw up her eyes too much as part of her pose).

This afternoon I had my hair cut, so I ended up with lots of time without ds today.

And he had his first bloody bump whilst I was with him! Did his usual manoeuvre (sp?) from sitting to laying on tummy, but went down a bit too quick/hard, and banged his mouth, cutting his gum. Poor sausage had a mouth full of blood and was not a happy chappy.

Just coming on quickly to say good evening. I hope it all went well today MM and you're not too uncomfortable. My lovely friend went to the Monsoon at about 8 o'clock this morning and got my dress for me. She said people were queuing round the shop.

at a class of 35 Star. Our classes go up to 30 (but usually a bit less), and that is quite enough.

Jenwa - your dd sounds lovely. I did laugh about the arm comment though.

Got to go - ds has woken up again. When will those bloody teeth come through?

RachieW · 14/07/2009 21:32

MM- Hope you are ok and everything went well and no ovaries were removed.

Purple- I'm really sorry to hear about your dp. Not sure what to suggest, can your GP put you in touch with anyone to talk to if that might help?

CSWS- Well done to dd for being such a star and poor ds and the mouthful of blood. It's certainly a dangerous time for them with all this moving! J fell off the bottom stair, he was leaning up to play with the stair gate, and whacked his head.

Star- We have days like that when ds is very clingy to me. Sometimes he seems to get very scared by other children. I'm not sure why this is, I'm wondering if it's the separation anxiety malarky? But I also sometimes think it could be teething related too.

Well Aubergenie and MM I went to Bluewater today and into the Monsoon kids sale. I was so disappointed! If ds was a dd I'd have brought the shop but there were only two stands of boys clothes all of which seemed too grown up to me. I reckon it was 80% girls and 20% boys. I'm getting so fed up of rubbish boys clothes. Actually that reminds me to get some clothes from CSWS rainbow babies in time for sept.

pepperrabbit · 14/07/2009 21:47

evening all.
MM hope it went well today and you're doing ok.
pistachio - thanks for waving for me!
pf - at your dh's threats to you to make you stay, sounds like a nasty way of undermining your confidence further when you're already down. can you talk to your hv at all under cover of going to the clinic or suchlike? you could try cognitive therapy (my SIL did well on this for PND) which you could say came vaguely under his category of "mind over matter"?
CSWS well done to your DD for being clever and beautiful!!
sympathies to the not quite teething babies - no fun at all.
DD has been poorly, both Ds's have horid snotty colds but are battling through but she seems to have got a wheezy coughy version. Her breathing was quite scary last night, I shot out of bed about 3 times as I could hear her gasping for breath and beginning to panic. She's also lost her voice and cries like a weak newborn at the mo poor poor poppet doesn't know what to do with herself. Took her to the docs today and she was super fine in the surgery didn't even cough when dr poked her throat with a stick thing.... so dr (locum I'd never seen before) was very nice but clearly thought I'd brought a perfectly healthy baby in . So at least she had a full check up and now she's sleeping with a pillow under her mattress and looked a little perturbed by the extreme angle when I put her down!
Going to post this before pc dies again..
