MM any chance of a picture. I love gory stuff

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 20:07

Ronshar - Once I am brave enough to take it off again I'll get DH to do a tasteful shot of my scar (it does go into my bikini line after all). I am exactly the same which is why I am faced with the flappy plaster predicament at the moment! One of the best days of my life was when DH let me squeeze the pus out of his whitlow. Joy!

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 20:08

Oh Yay Star! What a good boy!

star6 · 22/07/2009 20:12

all it took was getting DH on board to participate in the routine and deal with the crying without causing stress so one of us went and gave in... it's amazing... we just had dinner together...

star6 · 22/07/2009 20:31

yuck about the scar. Glad I'm not in the medical profession

I'm a pack in advance packer (did you guess that?) If it's a big holiday, I've been known to "practice pack" before the time comes as well I'm an organizational nerd.

star6 · 22/07/2009 20:31

we need a new thread... did everyone already go there and leave me here to fill this one up?

ronshar · 22/07/2009 20:34

Star, dinner, together, in silence??? Fantastic. I think you deserve a cuddle never mind your DH.

MM how do you feel about ingrowing hairs. I love them. [puke]

star6 · 22/07/2009 20:37

ronshar and MM need a disgusting bodily fluids, scars and other nasty growths thread

star6 · 22/07/2009 20:39

ronshar - wasn't really in silence as DH talks a lot but no chasing after Q or pulling our plates out of his reach... and ONLY FOUR MINUTES OF CRYING! I am just in utter disbelief about this. Really. 2 days at 90 minutes, 1 day at 25 and the next at 4??? Even his nap today was 25...
Anyone who has done this before, does it get worse again or will it stay at minimal crying from now on?
AND will he always cry a few minutes or will it eventually go down to zero?

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 20:55

Mmmmmm.... in-growing hairs! Yes they are lovely!

Star - I am not at all surprised to learn that you are an organised packer. I think you are the anti-me! M self settles every night now and we managed that with DH helping out. She still has a bit of a moan when she's getting comfy but goes straight off once she's turned herself on to her tummy!

star6 · 22/07/2009 21:02

did you do crying or what did you do MM?

ronshar · 22/07/2009 21:03

Star I have dragged myself away from the gross fluids thread.
I have always used that method for bedtimes. Mostly the girls went straight down, illness or teething upsets things. W has good days were he goes straight down with one last toothy grin at me as I close the door. Other days DH & I may make two or three trips back to lay him back down, pull his music rabbit and run away.
Sounds like you should both be very proud of yourselves. Have a glass of wine.

star6 · 22/07/2009 21:05

I seriously thought he'd either spend an hour crying every night for the rest of his life or need a breastfeed to get to sleep.... I just can't believe this actually worked! And it's SO right that you just need to stick to it and BOTH be on board and it works... and quickly!! only a few nights, wow!

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 21:08

DH did the crying not me. I was too weak willed and would have scooped her up and cuddled her which was totally counter productive. She never cried for long and now seems happy to settle herself. But.....she has already dropped her day time nap. She is awake from 6.30 - 7.30 all day, everyday! She doesn't even nod off on me lap any more.

Is there a gross fluids thread Ronshar? I must have missed that one.

star6 · 22/07/2009 21:08

Wait, ronshar - you mean the girls went straight down after you did the crying thing or they just went straight down on their own accord? Q was standing and crying in his cot when we first did it 2 days ago... we'd put him back down and he'd just get back up again. First time he fell asleep sitting up leaning against his cot bars. Now he's laying himself down. Maybe just needs to be on his own terms (?) And when he wakes, I let him cry a bit and just say "shh" and he goes back off himself, too (he's in a cot in our room as we only have one room). So no more night feeding.

star6 · 22/07/2009 21:10

??? she must be SUPER BABY!!! MM - really? NO nap? Q still takes 2... sometimes 3 if they're short! He can't seem to really manage more than 3 hours awake at a time (maybe he's just lazy?)... should I be trying to drop a nap?

star6 · 22/07/2009 21:13

where's csws? We need a new thread

RachieW · 22/07/2009 21:16

Just popping in quickly to mark my place. No spare time again today All is well here. Think Ds is in a bit of teething pain as a lot of crying at bedtime which is unusual. We've just given some calpol and all is now quiet. For how long though?

Am only 5"2 so glad I'm not alone in being vertically challenged

Am amazed by stair climbing, walking, clapping, kissing, and settling to sleep so brilliantly- all such clever babies.

Aubergenie- Eeeeeek about Nursery- I have no idea about how I'll cope really, I'm just doing my usual put a jolly face on it. Things like sneezing and snot are on my 'Fear List' oh and that we have to change some nappies as we can't turn away chn who aren't potty trained! People keep telling me I'm used to nappies but I think your own dc is different to someone elses 3yr old! Anyway I have identifies two very large cupboards which are perfect for hiding in

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 21:17

Star - Maybe you should start a new thread.....GO on dare you! M is not super baby just annoying, irritating baby who won't go to sleep. She gets tired, I give her milk and she perks back up again! I wish she would sleep during the day. Q will let you know when it's time to drop a nap. He's having as much sleep as he needs, you certainly can't force them to have more than they need unfortunately.

RachieW · 22/07/2009 21:20

identified- sorry!

Star- J still has 3 naps a day, mid morning, afternoon around 2pm and most days around 5pm but only for about 20mins. I'm not worrying about dropping a nap as it doesn't seem to affect his night sleep and keeps him happy.

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 21:24

Argh! We need a new thread!

Marthasmama · 22/07/2009 21:27
