Yah Myjob. Finally

RachieW · 03/07/2009 14:16

Thanks Jenwa- the course was really good which was quite as they are often really bad. I feel that I know a bit more about teaching nursery aged children now.

Aubergenie- Good luck back at work next week. Three weeks of cover sounds quite a good way to ease into it though. How are you feeling about going back? I've got really mixed feelings, am now quite excited about being in EY and all the new challenges but also heartbroken about leaving J..and this is with 2 months to go still!

J is now commando crawling very quickly and has developed an interest in plugs, wires, my mum's dvd player.. no surprise there really. He's got one top front tooth now and I think the other might be coming through. He now grinds his new tooth to his bottom one which sends a shiver down my spine and makes me want to puke. How do you teach an 8 month old not to do that?

I've been trying using 'no' for dangerous objects but he just smiles and carries on, when I move him he goes back straight away. Not quite sure if there's anything different I can do? I'm not against using no...I just want him to realise what it means. I'm hoping persistance will beat resistance (persistance on my part, not his )It's very tiring this commando crawling lark.

star6 · 03/07/2009 15:16

no clue how to teach him not to do that rachie

But as for "no". We just use the persistance method too. Keep removing him, firm, gentle no... after what seems like ages and ages, they "get it". just exhausting.

we're all about cor es and wires here, too. We've given him a pair of headphones with the wire, the Wii nunchuck and a PS2 controller as toys and they are his favs as all have a cord!

Q is still not sleeping tonight... happy and wide awake. (he's usually been sleeping at least an hour by now - having said that he does have one late night per week). I love him so much I'm so lucky to have a baby. Nothing better in the world... sob sob... I'm a sobbing mess tonight.

Honeymoonmummy · 03/07/2009 23:28

Hey all, just a quickie, I got my period this morning, lovely birthday pressie eh??? And the blood rushing in my ears has stopped. Possibly related, who knows? It was nearly 6 weeks since last time anyway.

I don't think I said but Poppy hadn't put on any weight in 2 weeks yesterday HV said prob cos of teething/ having a cold.

I've spent most of today in bed asleep which is as good a birthday present as I could hope for!! I've just been exhausted today.

Got some lovely pressies from DH and Poppy.

She's only just gone in her cot, she's been feeding for an hour and a quarter, so much for my night of BB with DH and a glass of red!! Never mind

Right, I'm off to get some tea... Thanks for the birthday messages.

aubergenie · 04/07/2009 07:41

Ooh HMM - I forgot to wish you a happy birthday yesterday. Glad you got some good sleep!

Off to get my hair cut today. Catch up later.

jenwa · 04/07/2009 09:36

Hi all!
Still in computer nevernever land here, I've had a stomach upset but could have been food poisoning, noone's slept in the heat and DH is working roughly 27 hours a day
Apart from that all well. Christening was excellent in the end tho a bit stressful...
J has her first tooth! and she promptly bit her foot twice and howled it's amazing the human race has survived so long really....
Off to find myjob's last summing up and catch up from there - before the screen goes blank again.

Ekka · 04/07/2009 17:21

Hi all, we arrived back home yesterday. Lovely holiday, but had a rough night last night - kids didn't settle properly for sleep till 4am (8pm Vancouver time - the downside of having a set bedtime {wink]). The dc's cousins (age 3 & 5) were there so dd spent most of her time playing with them and ds loved watching them. He can now crawl and get himself up from his tummy to sitting . The IL's place is amazing - huge with loads of wildlife and really near the shore. my dream location!

Haven't read anything on the thread so far - it took me a while to find you all! I need to spend some time reading to catch up....

Evening ladies - Welcome back Ekka - glad you had a brilliant time.

I'm excited - I've only just discovered that our broadband (and the baby monitor) works in the garden! It definitely didn't last year and I can't figure out what's changed. Anyway, I'm MNing on the patio with a glass of wine in hand. It's really peaceful (apart from the police siren in the distance ). I am well happy as I've hardly used the garden during the day as it's been too hot.

Sorry to hear about headaches/tummy upsets

Had a haircut today to make me look a bit more professional. Rachie - glad your course was good and you're looking forward to getting stuck into early years.

Not much to report here apart from that S's spots are finally going and he's started moving at lightening speed. Just as I go back to work.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/07/2009 20:26

Welcome back Ekka.

Dd went horse riding today for the first time ever, and loved it! Pics and a couple of bits of vid on fb.

Evening! Had a lovely day today, we had a NCT ante-natal group reunion BBQ at our house. I haven't seen a few of them for ages so it was lovely to see all the babies and how they've grown. Ds was a bit overwhelmed with all these people in his house and babies playing with his toys, plus he's teething again so he was a bit teary. Still think he coped admirably in the situation.

Aubergenie- Good news about the broadband and monitor in the garden

Ekka- Welcome back- glad you had a good time and hope the sleeping is better tonight.

HMM- Happy Birthday for yesterday. Sleeping sounds the best present a mummy can get, wish I'd have thought to put it on my b'day list

CSWS- The pony riding pics look great.. is this the kind of standard of children's parties? It's all alien to me, know it's a long way off but guess I won't be getting away with pass the parcel and musical statues

Jenwa- Hope the zoo was good fun?

Peppa- for stomach upset and dh's long hours. Great news about the tooth and not about the foot biting

Right off to eat some more leftover bbq...so not good for the figure but hey.

Hi all, back on a downer again this afternoon, wish these bloody AD's would kick in. Poppy just finished feeding, a long feed again, took her off after 1h 05, I'm off to get a snack by way of tea and go to bed. Night all.

Honeymoonmummy · 05/07/2009 19:54

Where the heck are you all today?????

jenwa · 05/07/2009 19:55

anyone here???
I thought I would pop on and it seems no one here!

jenwa · 05/07/2009 19:55

waves at hm

jenwa · 05/07/2009 19:55

waves at hm

Honeymoonmummy · 05/07/2009 19:56

X-posts Jenwa! [waves]

I'm actually only on for 30 secs, waiting for Daddy and Pops to finish bath.

jenwa · 05/07/2009 19:57

I waved twice....whoops

How are you feeling today hm?

I am tired after the trip to London, was great though although Dd1 has attitude showing off in front of her auntie!

Back to work weds..boo and dont want to go!

Ekka · 05/07/2009 20:30

I've given up trying to remember everything.... Brain can't cope.

Jenwa, sorry you don't want to go back to work. Glad you had fun in London though.

HMM, how are you feeling today? I did notice you were back on dairy - I'm terribly envious!

CSWS, I love the photos of your dd riding. I used to ride, so I'd love to take dd, but its so expensive near us . Plus she's maybe a bit too little right now.

Sleeping here is rough. While we were in canada, dd was sleeping all night and ds only waking once, but last night they were both up from 11pm to 3am. We eventually took dd in bed with us as the only way to get some sleep. Not something that normally happens as I hate sleeping with kids in bed - she pulls my hair in her attempts to 'snuggle' with it and kicks. I just hope things get back to normal soon as I'm definitely grumpy mummy!

Holiday was fab, beautiful place, lovely weather. I feel really relaxed. Luckily my PILs are great and we seem to get along ok (probably something to do with the fact I only see them on average once a year )

Must go to bed now, need to stockpile some sleep before the kids wake up in the night.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/07/2009 20:33

just popping on for a quick hello. Was around this morning but no-one else seemed to be, and then at inlaws this aft/eve. Got kids to bed, sorted out as much as I can for tomorrow's picnic with myjob and star, and once we've found the links to attach some toys to the little buggy I shall be watching House with dh (just for a change ) and then going to bed (though will undoubtedly pop on for a quick read first).
