I'm just worried I'll become one of those mothers with no discipline! ha! The mothers of kids in my class I can't deal with....

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 20:58

It's not better or worse to do either. It just depends on you and your baby. If it is any help, I did the same with ds and I am doing the same as you with M.

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:59

oh! Q imitates us with a toothbrush now - he has his own and then we brush his gums and "tooth" with the dentinox stuff and the thimble with bristles...

He also imitated us banging blocks together... he won't clap, but he'll do that. Don't ask why DH and I were doing that... because I can't answer, no idea! . DH is trying to teach him to pick up his toys... maybe it will help DH to pick up his toys to....

star6 · 02/07/2009 21:00

Thanks MM. That DOES help

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 21:00

Star - I am a very strict mummy with DS! Much more so than any of the other mummies I know. I doubt very much that it would have any impact on future discipline.

Hi all- just marking my place. Been staying at Mum's since Monday as I had a teaching course in B'Ham. Back home today but it's been a long hot day travelling back by train so too tired to remember what I've read or type anything interesting. Back tomorrow.

jenwa · 02/07/2009 21:50

booooo! I never had take away as DH sort of fogeot we were having one and then never wanted to go and get one and neither did I never mind, saves money!

star dont worry, you are doing just fine and Q seems to be taking plenty of milk teeth can come up slowly too, watching them always feels like ages and when you gorget about it the next thing you know is they are all the way through

jenwa · 02/07/2009 21:52

rachie hope the course was ok.

I always wanted to be a fun mum but also set firm rules, I think I am strict and stress alot though about little things and DD1 can be a little madame at times

jenwa · 02/07/2009 21:53

oh and mm lol at shops in London I know, just hate carting shed loads around with me!

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 21:57

Jenwa - I am being very cheeky to you lately aren't I?!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/07/2009 22:16

Bugger - was just catching up but D has woken. Think I might have to give nurofen. Hoping it's not tummy ache as I've had a bit of dairy the last few days.

mm you make me chuckle its fine imagine you to have a very dry sense of humour too

ronshar · 02/07/2009 22:28

MM so where are the photos? I told you I wouldnt forget!

Jenwa have fun in London. It doesnt matter what the weather is like, you are free.

Myjob what are you trying to say about my precious baby boy??? He has mastered a whole new way of human movement. I might go and join the gifted and talented threads. Not sure if anyone else's baby is as clever as mine so I may be lonely

CSWS Its lucky you dont have any close neighbours. Are you enjoying House? Its fab isnt it. W has also just found his penis. What is it with children and their body parts?

Loulou you have tried so hard, I wouldnt spend any more time worrying about it and just focus on the remaining baby time. ssshhhh dont tell CSWS but BF isnt everything.

Another really hot day here. I am turning into shouty hot mummy. Not good.

ronshar · 02/07/2009 22:32

Star I meant to say to you. Dont worry. How often you feed Q wont turn him into an asbo ankle bracelet wearer. Have you tried to not feed him at night. I had to do this with W as it was getting ridiculous every 2 hours with only 3 feeds during the day! Much better now. Just the 4.30-5am feed I have to deal with.
You are a fab mummy.

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 22:39

[sticky out tongue emoticon] They won't load and I have chosen to ignore CSWS's kind offer to shrink them. They're too horrible and I think the Gods were giving me a message not to make them public by saying they were too large.

ronshar · 02/07/2009 22:51

Chicken. [ronshar sticks her tongue out back at ya]

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 23:02

Damn straight! I'm not proud, I am a coward.

Tell us!!!!!

ronshar · 02/07/2009 23:26

Myjob I know love I was being a little bit silly.
MM, W has developed a rather amusing method rather like a breakdancer doing that thing on the floor. I call him a commando worm. He is really fast. He can get up on his knees and hands but he obviously thinks his way is better. He will be walking soon I'm sure.

ronshar · 02/07/2009 23:27

Off to bed. Night ladies.

aubergenie · 03/07/2009 09:10

Morning ladies, FINALLY it doesn't seem quite so hot.

I'm totally behind on this thread as we've been so busy. DP's job has finished now and he's embarked on a rather ambitious list of DIY jobs that he wants to get done before I start work and he takes over with S. Unfortunately he seems to have turned into a DIY buffoon and we've had lots of swearing and thwarted trips to B&Q and not much else. S has suddenly started really moving around and is in to everything and none of the safety jobs I wanted him to do have been done, so I've been terrified put him down, as there's sh*t everywhere. It was all driving me so mad that I couldn't wait to get on the tube on my own (with a magazine to read) and leave them all behind. Went bra shopping (depressing) and then met some friends for a lovely dinner (very nice) and the world felt much better again.

Anyway - Loulou - I'm glad you feel better about giving up BFing.

CSWS - When I gave you all that tube info, I forgot you didn't live near me!

Ronshar - I love the sound of W's commando worm. S is still crawling with one leg and keeps going sideways like a crab.

Star - I feed on demand too. Like Pistachio I try to offer a feed mid morning and afternoon because he's so into everything I think he sometimes forgets to let me know, but he's really thirsty in this hot weather.

Are other babies sleeping terribly in this heat or is it just S up to his usual tricks?

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/07/2009 11:25

Ds not sleeping terribly in the heat, but then he has an air conditioned bedroom . In fact last night he slept from 10:45pm until 6am, which I guess is sleeping through, although not from bedtime til morning, as he'd had me up to him twice during the evening. (He had a solitary wail at 4:45am too, which I think singalled the start of his final sleep cycle, but didn't require me to get up.) Very promising.

Ds gets fed if he demands it, but he doesn't often, so tends to have milk first thing, before morning nap, during the afternoon and before bed.

ronshar - we do have close neighbours - we're only in a semi! There are 6 houses here in the middle of nowhere.
