I'm sure you're not a moaner Jenwa. I'd love to meet my long lost twin... though I think you're much taller than me

I meant to tell you all, one of DS's school friends has a 3 year old sister who weighs.......less than M. She is only 18lbs bless her. She has terrible reflux and the drs have only just worked out what the problem has been. Poor little love throws up everything she eats and has arms like twigs.

hehe star yes think I am taller, we could be like arnie and dannie de vito in the film twins (only in the short and tall version though)

Am going to look at P's creases now, never knew about that!

myjob yes they do sound simular, even looked simular for awhile

I do like a moan every now and then and as much as I love the in laws they can be a pita

mm poor little girl, hope she gets sorted now.

jenwa · 02/07/2009 11:25

hmm your moaning is not bad at all, you have good reasons. and Yeh for poppys teeth although poor thing, at least get them out the way in one big go!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/07/2009 11:45

Still no teeth here! Am sure we're not the only ones though.

We're looking after a friend's dd today - one of dd's best friends (of course at this age whoever they have played with that day is their best friend), and she and dd are currently bouncing on the trampoline singing 'we've got girly bits, we've got girly bits', having first established that neither of them are wearing knickers (they took them off to go in paddling pool earlier) .

I can shrink your pics for you if you email them to me MM .

No teeth here either CSWS but I didn't get teeth until I was nearly one so I'm not surprised! that is very funny about the girly bits! I think I mentioned already that M has 'discovered' her girl bits!

loulou33 · 02/07/2009 12:08

No teeth here either. I have given up on bf as Joe is not interested and now just uses my nipple to clamp his hard gums onto and refuses to let go (ouch) - i'm kind of ok about it and have been less weepy so i think the hormones are settling down. He's drinking more ff so i'm less worried about him.

Joe crawled today for the first time. I know loads of your LOs have been crawling for ages but Joe is so laid back. He kneels up whilst holding on to the sofa but has no inclination to stand, bless him. I haven't checked his fat rolls - too may of them to check if they line up i think

He's now waving but has stopping clapping . I think he is Homer Simpson in disguise (remember how yellow he wasas a newborn!). Homer said that for every new thing you learn an old thing has to fall out of your head to make room for it!! Now he's crawling, what will he stop doing instead??

csws hehe re your DD and girlie bits

Had a lovely day and all packed ready for london this weekend, problem is I have summer stuff packed as did not want to take too much and now think its going to rain it wont be cold though surely???

Getting take away tonight with Dh so can chill. Need to go shave my legs and wash my hair though and think every else is sorted!

Honeymoonmummy · 02/07/2009 19:44

Have not read, got 1 min, I've had blood pounding in my ears feeling all day, any ideas what it might be, just my cold? I've checked BP and that's OK and no other symptoms of anaemia. Maybe it's side effect of the drugs...

Will be back later!

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 20:31

I would guess at the heat HMM. I walked a four mile round trip to the breastfeeding group today and on the way back (uphill I would like to add) my head felt like it was going to explode! M fell asleep in her pushchair so got in a cool bath and poured cold water on my head. My head isn't much better now. So, headache is a symptom of anaemia. I must check the symptoms, I think I must still be anaemic....

Jenwa - Have a good trip to London. You do know they have shops in London. You can buy something warm if you really need to, but the weather forecast is for rain first thing, then sunny intervals and mid 20s temp.

Loulou - I am glad to hear you're not feeling so bad about stopping breastfeeding. You have given J every opportunity to carry on but he has made the decision for you. You have done everything you can. Well done on the crawling. He's probably like my ds and doesn't want to do things until he knows has can perfected the skill. M tries to combine clapping with waving, it looks very odd!

Myjob - hee hee about N's fav bath toy! I had heard that girls were as bad as boys for 'fiddling' but didn't believe it until now! How does such a tiny little button eat all that food?! M has had almost no proper food today, she's just not been interested.

I was outed as an MNer at the breastfeeding group! I was chatting to the Infant Nutrition Co-ordinator and mentioned that I found a lot of support form the lovely ladies on MN. She then asked the rest of the group if they used 'The Mumsnet' They all said no, but I am willing to bet that two of them do, or if not that they are NM and think we're all evil...... I just laughed nervously. But worse of all, I was really smelly!!! I kept thinking, 'I can smell sick'. I was looking around to see if any of the other babies had been sick then realised that the smell was coming from me! M had been secretly sick on me some where and in the heat it had cooked nicely. I was so , how horrid! Needless to say I stripped off the instant I got home and put all my clothes in the wash. Yuck!

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:34

how much should a breastfed baby be feeding (milk) at this age? I am worried Q doesnt take enough...his day feeds are so quick now and has to be in not bright not busy space or else he's distracted.
He feedsn waking in the morning (good, long-ish feed of about 10-15 minutes)

after breakfast/before morning nap/to be put to sleep

after lunch (around 11.30/12)

before afternoon nap/to be put to sleep (between 12.30-1)

after afternoon nap - 4ish/5ish(SOMETIMES)

Before bed/to be put to sleep

Anywhere between 3 and 6 times throughout the night. 3 times is a GOOD NIGHT. Sometimes now if he wakes too early I can feed him adn he settles back for another hour or two... sometimes...

Does this sound like enough milk and any ideas about how to transfer those night feeds to the daytime?
He also eats breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner (he used to eat a tonne, now he eats, just not too much... ugh)

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 20:41

That sounds like plenty of feeds Star. Are you still feeding on demand? If so, then I suspect that Q will be taking as much as he needs. I'm sure CSWS will put me right if I am wrong. I didn't realise that Q was still waking up to 6 times a night! You must be knackered. Touch wood, M has only been waking once or twice a night. Don't ask me how or why this has changed, definitely more luck than judgement! She has gone off her food lately too. Maybe it's an age thing, or maybe it's rumbling teeth.

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:43

don't know how that got in there?
supposed to say, he feeds upon waking in the morning... weird

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:46

MM - I am still "feeding on demand". I'm going to sound sooooo thick here, but how else to people feed? I couldn't force Q to feed if he didn't want it... I don't get it, how does one NOT feed on demand?

I think Q is not eating much and not sleeping much because of this ridiculous tooth! It came a week ago(?) and it's still only a little bit out! I'm sure his tooth is meant to come up more ? You can see it, but barely - I can FEEL it on breast and finger...

MM lol about the sick. Im sure no one else noticed!! I always wonder when I meet other moms if they MN.

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:49

oh my god, I'm starting to totally panic.
Am I not supposed to be feeding on demand? What is the other way and how do I do it? Maybe that's why Q takes so much milk in the night! DUH! Oh I feel so stupid!!!! Someone help!
None of my books (that I've continued to read b/c I've liked them) have mentioned another way to feed? Oh NOOOOOOO!!!!! I hope I didn't screw him up already! sh**

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 20:50

Star - I still feed M on demand. The alternative is to feed at certain times on a schedule, or now whilst weaning, when they have food. I still feed M whenever she seems to want milk, but I have a feeling that she sometimes just wants a cuddle and some comfort.

Marthasmama · 02/07/2009 20:55

Oh Star! Stop worrying! How can you possibly be messing things up when your being led by Q? Some babies fall into a natural routine and it becomes easier to feed those babies at certain times, others, like Q & M (and I think alos like Aubergenie's S, CSWS's D and Pistachio's T) continue to feed on demand. If it works for you and Q, then fabulous! M has a subtle routine but the timings change daily. Plus while it's been hot, M has been feeding lots more!

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:55

So.... is it better to feed on a schedule?
I don't understand.
When I was working, he just started to not take a bottle at all. So he'd be fed before I left and then wait for me to come see him at lunch and then would feed again 3.45... now he does the schedule mentioned above - but if he wants feeding in between those times, I always give it to him. And I never force him to feed.. only when he lets me know he wants it.
oh no...... should I have a schedule?

star6 · 02/07/2009 20:56

thanks MM sorry xpost
yes, he feeds a LOT more in the heat (milk)
