Morning all.

Ses -hope you feel better soon. I sympathise with you as I've got a cold at the moment.

Momino - hope all goes well with your dh today.
Re my hips, I went to the dr when I was 20 as my leg hurt when I walked alot. My mum thought I was making a mountain out of a molehill, she ended up feeling very guilty!! Ds2 had his hip scan on Monday and he's fine too.

The hv came and weighed ds2 yesterday and he's almost 13lb!! We've had to start on the infacol as ds2's wind seems to be getting worse. Ds2 is a nightmare in the evenings, he just cries and cries, for no apparent reason.

Belgian had to laugh at you mumsnetting in your undies - there's true dedication!!

Dandy, ds1 didn't really at me or focus on me until gone 8 weeks

LoobyLou36 · 24/06/2009 09:04

morning all..

well we are off to bf group this morning, I am struggling a bit at the moment, M keeps screaming at me when I offer her breast - even tho she keeps rooting for it. A few times I just havn't been able to calm her down and have had to give her a bottle of formula . Always feel so guilty when I do but I guess any bf is better than none. Wish I could get more out when I express - any tips? I have been trying fenugreek but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

M has her jabs at 2pm not looking forward to that

Gert2a · 24/06/2009 09:15

Morning all!

Jabs for us today too! Calpol at the ready!

Edie was weighed yesterday 10lb 6oz, so sticking rigidly to the 50th centile. She was called a boy by everyone at the clinic as she had a vest on with a lion on it Girls can wear lions too.

Went to meadowhell shopping centre again yesterday (my MIL wanted to go, I don't have an addiction to the place, honest!), and an update re the breastfeeding situation there... I couldn't be bothered going into a cafe/finding a quiet corner, so I just sat on a bench in the middle of the mall and got my norks out. We felt very liberated!

Also bought Edie some fantastic clothes from H&M - they are my favourite baby clothes shop. Lots of bright t-shirts - no pastels allowed! H&M - highly recommended. Am jealous of those of you near Birmingham - the biggest H&M is there!

Re. focussing, Edie has been focussing for a while, but seems fascinated by corners/angles and contrasting colours. My mum is an artist and her walls are covered in paintings so when we go there Edie gets so excited and her breathing quickens up as she looks round the room, she doesn't know which direction to look at - so many differnt angles to view. It's very funny. I think this means she's going to be a mathmetitian

Momino · 24/06/2009 09:44

Morning. best wishes to looby and Gert's LOs with their jabs. hope they forget about it straight away!

gert, Harper gets called a boy whenever she wears her (my) favourite light blue/lime spotty sleepsuit. i'm really trying to stay away from pink though.

must go to H&M next time I'm in Leeds or Manchester. we have an H&M here in York but they dont have children's clothes .

DH is on his way in his tight pants and loose trousers (as instructed). Harper and I going to pick him up around mid day. guess it will be a few days before strenuous exercise and he'll have to 'shoot blanks' for tests before it's confirmed an effective contraception. not that i'm thinking about 'relations' anyway.

have a couple of things to package up for ebay as well so off i go whilst it's quiet.

Hope everyone is well today.

Morning.

I had such a hard night last night. DS fed on and off from mid afternoon and then cried/ screamed /fed from 8 till after 11. I ended up giving him 2mls of calpol even though he is only 6 weeks but I was desparate and I think he has then same upset tummy that DD and DH have and I also starting getting stomach cramps and severe wind yesterday so I think I might have it too. He slept 6 hours once he fell asleep though so thats something. I'm not sure if its 6 week growth spurt or stomach bug?? I guess I'll never know.

DD is still producing horrific nappies so hopefully the sample I dropped at the docs yesterday will tell us whats wrong with her. I think DH is feeling a bit better. We haven't been to any toddler groups this week so we don't spread it around.

Smear I had one at my 6 week check up after DD. Don't need one for another 18months or so now.

Focusing DS isn't focusing on me much yet and hasn't smiled yet but I feel it is close .

check Here we have an 8 week check up and have jabs and baby check up on the same day. Seems like a good plan. I love my new doctors surgery.

Febes · 24/06/2009 09:49

momino good luck to your DH. at tight pants and loose trousers. DD used to always get called a boy as I had loads of neutral clothes. Sometimes even when she is dressed in pink people call her a boy .

Jennster · 24/06/2009 09:58

Morning all. Dh and I went out last night for a meal while the older dc played up for the babysitter. No idea why ds is so upset at night these days. Anyway dd2 slept like a baby and we were home pretty quickly. It was our 4th wedding anniversary. Is anybody else frequently disappointed with restaurants? I feel if I can cook the food as well or better then what is the point. It's not difficult. Anyway it was just nice getting out of the house with dh and chatting.

Ses Problem is my company doesn't have branches as big as your's, and so 2nd pharmacists are very rare, especially with all the belt tightening. Ideally I would work short hours close to home, but we don't have many branches near me. One long day would be ok, perhaps to cover a day off. I clearly need to speak to my boss. Empathy with the hayfever. I thought I had my second cold since giving birth, but 2 weeks later and I'm still snotty. I might just have to go to both of our biggest rival and get one of those stupid hayfever 'machines'

Jennster · 24/06/2009 10:01

Oh and very belated Happy Birthday Looby

I am logging of right now and not coming back until my bedroom is tidy, the nappies and clothes are folded away, the bedding is on the line and tonights dinner is made. Problem is I'm waiting in for a delivery, and I've no idea when it will be. I need to either make or buy some pastry for a pie tonight. I've not enough butter though to make some.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/06/2009 10:04

Spangle I just looked at your photos on FB, Harvey is so lovely and the change in his appearance is amazing.

Momi at tight pants. I bet your DH is rather nervous, hope it all goes well!

Sophia is wearing a lot of pinky things, but have just invested in some yellow stuff, she still gets called a boy when she's wearing pink frills, some people are just a bit stoopid. She's wearing one of her frilly yellow dresses today (I would have her in sleepsuits morning, noon and night, as I adore babies in snuggly sleepsuits), DD2 chooses her outfit everyday and it's heavily weighted towards the girly/frilly section of her clothing range (DD2 is a pink princess ).

I haven't read through properly yet, hope everyone is ok today, we're about to go out, I need to order a sling/baby carrier today. Any recommendations?

Blotted how are you today? I was thinking of you yesterday when my older 2 were playing up. I think you're amazing for coping with 4!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 24/06/2009 10:26

YAY! Owen has just been weighed and has gained 7oz in the 6 days since his last weigh in and is back to his birth weight of 8lb 9oz
(He still sounds tiny compared with your 6wk olds...)
We're v happy though

pulapula · 24/06/2009 10:55

Well done Ses and Owen.

DS2 was weighed today too and is now 11 lb 6.5 oz at 6 weeks so growing nicely.

My HV thought my mood was pretty flat (I was trying to sound upbeat but she could obviously see through it). She recommended that i try and get a couple of hours sleep in the evenings when S is generally having a nice long sleep as she was worried i wasn't getting enough- i reckon i get about 4-6 hours a night when i think about it (usually in 2 hour chunks) so another couple should make a big difference. I wasn't completely open with her about my feelings (I had intended to be) and now i feel i should have been as i really like her and know her from when i had my last DS too. I will see her again in 2 weeks and she said to call if i needed to see someone in between. If i feel brave later, i may open up on here .

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 24/06/2009 11:08

Pula - do open up on here, I'm sure it will help. The extra nap may help so give it a go when you can.

Momino · 24/06/2009 11:14

Hi. BFing and MNing before picking up DH.

ses, well done on owen's weight!

pula, you ok ? it might feel better to chat about your feelings/thoughts. there are a lot of understanding and helpful people here . but do what feels comfortable. we're here if/when you're ready. and, as you know, do use your HV.

Belgianchocolates · 24/06/2009 11:17

Morning everyone,

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling down. I hope you'll feel better soon.

Nice to hear all babies are growing nicely. C was weighed last week and wont be weighed again until her 8 week check in 2 weeks time, but she seems to be growing nicely.

H&M love the place. Most clothes I've chosen myself for C are from there, nearly my whole wardrobe and the same for the other dcs Maybe I should get some shares in them! I love bright colours too. Soft pink and lilac can get a bit boring after a while. I also love polkadots, so both dd's have quite a few spotty outfits

grumpy I get the same, mostly by men, but the other day by a woman. C was wearing a pink dress and this woman asked me whether she was a boy or a girl

jenn The main reason I love eating out is that there are no dishes or clearing up to do . The food is less important
With that I will follow your example and log off until I've packaged some eBay stuff, taken the laundry in and another load out and have mown the lawn (hopefully without C tied to me or I'll melt)

Belgianchocolates · 24/06/2009 11:18

I wonder if I could have fitted any more smilies in that post.

Momino · 24/06/2009 11:24

Belgian, you can never use too many smilies !

just made it out of house for half hour walk while A slept was lovely even tho it was just around the block

hope all ok, sorry to those who are feeling down. Do unload here it really helped me the other day.

I'm so sorry that quite a few of us are feeling down. I'm ok, just have bad moments re money and work (I really don't want to go back to my job, but I don't have any qualifications so crappy admin is all I can do - I'm intelligent but lazy and we were poor gowing up, so I skipped A Levels and Uni and went out to work). DH assures me money is fine - they've had a good couple of weeks and have plenty of high-cost work booked in for the forseeable future but it's never set in stone when it's your own business......

Sophia is napping at the mo, having got all hot and bothered earlier when we took DD2 to school (I shouted at DD2 too, for something that was not her fault at all ). I shouted at DD1 for something that wasn't her fault this morning too. God, I feel awful. I am so quick-tempered at the moment.

I must get stuff done now, I would love a nap but I have washing to do.........Bugger!

Oh and Sophia has horrendous nappy rash at the moment - she poos after every feed and we are forever changing her nappy. She's in disposables at the mo - she's still slightly too little for her reusables. Her poor litle bum is bright red

flippineck · 24/06/2009 13:23

pula and dandy - sorry to hear you're both feeling flat, hope things improve for you and anyone else. If you like hugs, have one, if you don't like them have a manly pat on the shoulder. And in both cases have some cake.

It was the 6 week check today, as predicted the Dr asked me if I'm BF and then went into a misty eyes rantette about how wonderful it and how she wishes she could still do it. She's got four adult children! Anyway, she also asked how I'm feeling, how things are 'down there' and then swiftly moved onto a very thorough check of A. She's all fine, and now weighs 10 lb 9.

We had a very small miracle last night! I managed to get A to sleep at 10.30 (normally closer to midnight) and then she slept until 3 in her own bed. After I fed her she came into bed with us until we were rudely waken at 5.30 by DD1.

They're both asleep now too - very rare to have them both sleeping at the same time! I ought to wake DD1 really to avoid hell at bedtime but it's so peaceful and I've just eaten a magnum!

3ofeach · 24/06/2009 13:42

just saying hi to let you know i'm still arond really busy the last few days and not had chance to properly catch up, just read the last few posts

Loving H&M too. K is quite dark skinned, with balck hair and bright blue eyes so pastel pink looks awful on her and I'm not a big fan of it anyway

flippenheck glad you had a better night

3ofeach · 24/06/2009 13:45

meant to add pula and dandy sorry you are feeling low. talk to your HV and DH and tell them honestly how you are feeling so they can help you.

Have been feeling low at times but i'm not sure if its just extreme tiredness plus still getting upset over DH leaving and being with new GF

FiKelly · 24/06/2009 13:57

grumpy g is still in disposables too as i've never know a baby to poo so much.. i have to change her before bf, sometimes during if i'm winding her and she's done another and even not unheard of for her to poo again after her bf too! sometimes bit frustrated as she'll empty herself after tanking up clustering and then be hungry all over again.. atm she's snuffly with dh's cold. making her feed more often during the day but thankfully she's giving me a longish stretch at night.

sorry to hear some of us are a bit down.. please off load to us whenever you need to. we've all been through so much together and i hope we'll continue for the foreseable future too as it's lovely to have all of you here.

yay on the 6wk checks/hip passes/weight gains(babies only of course! cus we're not ) although i had a mini magnum last night. it was after a marathon feeding session from 5pm till 9pm though so hoping that balanced out the calories

btw happy belated birthday looby

momino hope dh op goes well & is ok and doesn't find it too sore.

just looked up from my MN on phone with g asleep in my lap to see dh asleep too.. laptop on his knee and now starting to snore! the joys of ds being at pre school for an hour or two

FiKelly · 24/06/2009 14:04

hmm maybe i should move the laptop.. dh's legs will get quite hot from it.. but should i risk waking g by moving? hmm oh i dunno

llareggub · 24/06/2009 14:05

Non-mumsnetting hugs to all those who are feeling flat.

I went to a toddler group this morning, which is held in our local pub, hurrah! It was very lovely, and I met some other mothers who live locally who I haven't met before. Had to run to pick up DS from pre-school, and have been forced asked to join the committee. I watched him practice for school sports day which was very sweet. He is Very Excited Indeed and keeps practicing "ready steady go!"

DS2 poos all the time too Fi and I've never known a baby poo so much.
