llare, take good care and hope you can work things out.glad you at least have RL support.

Harper's finally woken up to feed after the cinema and lunch with pula and Sam. Sunshine Cleaning was light and entertaining - perfect film to see with babies. it was so nice to put a name to a face of someone I've been chatting to on MN for nearly a year. S is gorgeous and i had a few boy cuddles for a change.

Hope we do another 'up North' meet soon .

Ses - 7oz in a week! well done Owen, well, both of you

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 01/07/2009 15:47

Thanks Momino
Glad your cinema trip went well. I'm hoping to pop up to York to see C,A and I end of August/beginning of Sept so maybe we can catch up over a coffee then!

flippineck · 01/07/2009 15:57

Llaregub I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems ('problems' sounds so lame and such an understatement, sorry). Glad to hear you have RL support, and of course offload here too if you want. I hope there's a resolution that suits everyone.

Both girls are asleep, and I've just had a magnum! Baking hot here, we've been at a children's festival all day and we're all hot and tired. I got my shower this morning, but boy, could I do with another one now! The festival was good, but I felt a bit sorry for DD1 - she couldn't do as much as she wanted to because I had to look after A too, A was grumpy because she was hot and I couldn't carry her in the sling much because of the heat.

pulapula · 01/07/2009 16:44

Phew, back from a lovely trip to York with Momino and Harper. H was a dream baby, but poor S got very tired and grumpy but at least he slept in the car both ways which was good for him .

Just giving S a feed and watching the tennis before i have to pick the other DCs up from nursery.

Ses well done on Owen's weight gain- amazing what a difference having his tongue tie snipped has made.

Febes- S was feeding every 3 hours last night too and not that hungry when he woke at 7- i wonder why

daizydoo · 01/07/2009 17:21

mandb'smummy that's just so sad

llare - sorry you're having a nightmare. Hope all goes well tomorrow...

I have a 7 1/2 week old with chicken pox in a heatwave I feel sorry for ds2, but he doesn't appear to be too bad for it at the moment. I spoke to the surgery nurse this am and she said he can have a little bit of calpol if necessary. Apparently they can have it after theyve had their 1st jabs. Ds2 is supposed to be having his 1st jabs on Tues, but I think I might postpone it just to give his little body a break after the chicken pox.

Momino · 01/07/2009 17:25

pula, so glad S slept in the car and glad you're back safely.

btw, I think someone switched babies with me today just to show off in front of you . or maybe she just realises when we have company and to be on best behaviour . After you left, I got the 'real' H back and have been bouncing around a crying baby for the past hour.

off to get girls from nursery. it's hot!

Belgianchocolates · 01/07/2009 17:56

daizy Pool lo. I hope he's not too grumpy with the chicken pox. They do say that the earlier you get it the better it is. The nurse wouldn't give jabs to a lo if they're ill or recovering from an illness anyway, so you're right in not going on tues.

I still haven't received an appointment for C's jabs and she's 8 weeks next week.

C is not in just nappy too. It was boiling at the dcs swimming lessons and she was soaked in sweat, like me really

pula momino glad you had a good time in the cinema.

ses great new with the weight gain!

I have this niggling feeling that C is starting to teethe. I know it's early but ds started dribbling and chewing my fingers from 8 weeks and then had his 1st tooth at 16 weeks. C's doing the same now. Her chin and front have been constantly wet for the last couple of days and today she started chewing my fingers.

Belgianchocolates · 01/07/2009 18:48

A quick note for future reference. Gel filled teethers cannot be sterilised! I put mine in the steriliser thinking C might like a cold teether to chew on rather than my fingers and it's come out all melted, lol.

pulapula · 01/07/2009 20:37

belgian- hope C isn't teething- not much fun. Mine haven't cut teeth til 6 months and I'm hoping S will be the same.

I know you said the other day that C is getting much more aware of toys and happy to lie for 30 or 40 mins. I must say S has really come on the last few days too. He is quite happy in the bath for 15-20 mins, he lay looking at his mobile this morning whilst i got the DCs dressed, and he was watching one of his hands tonight . And i got some nice smiles tonight too . Makes up for his meltdowns in York today.

Belgianchocolates · 01/07/2009 20:58

pula aah, S is coming on lovely. It's so nice when they start playing and showing an interest in the world around them. Funny how you just mentioned the bath. I've just come out of a cool down bath together with C. She was kicking away in the water and loving it. She's just like my ds was in the water. It's lovely. Can't wait for DH to come back and show him how she's turned into a ds no2!

Blottedcopybook · 01/07/2009 22:03

Llare Oh honey, I hope you and the boys are okay and that things go the way you want with DH. What a nightmare to deal with when you have such young children

Jael · 01/07/2009 22:07

Belgian I've just seen your latest pics of C on FB, can't believe how big she's getting, and how much hair shes got, she's so cute! J's hardly got any hair at all How heavy is she now? J is 9 weeks tomorrow and when he was weighed yesterday he was 12lb 7oz!! I thought C looked like quite similiar in size to J. X

flippineck · 01/07/2009 22:08

Back again. Our day got worse - we've had a nightmare bed time, DD1 trying every trick in the book to not go to sleep, that nap was far too late so partly my fault for not waking her earlier. A has been really grumpy too, only just fallen asleep on me.

But worse than that is DH's job. He still has one, luckily, but his company are enforcing 10 days unpaid holiday for everyone in the next 6 months, with the reduction in pay spread over those months. We'll survive - I think! - but it's going to be hard and it is really worrying, both about the monet coming in and what'll happen at his work if things don't improve.

Momino · 02/07/2009 07:08

flippin, sounds tough. hope things work out with your DH'sjob.

hi Jael, how are you doing?

Harper fussed for 3 hours last eve so fed her at 11pm then she finally fell asleep. I'm not surprised she had trouble as she seemed to have slept all day yesterday (no, the film wasn't that boring).

I've got to time her sleep right today as I'm supposed to get my hair coloured/dyed, a 3 hour appt. I've been able to express for a bottle to take so have that to fall back on but if she starts yelling and not able to settle in a hot, smelly hairdresser, i'm in trouble.

I'm re considering getting my hair dyed. I have a few grey hair sticking out but not sure it's worth doing at the hairdressers. I would have only got a semi permanent colour - would it be worth the ££? I may do myself as all I'm doing is covering grey. I can't remember who on here dyes her hair... is it difficult? would be easier for me with a baby to do at home and cheaper .

keep cool everyone.

Tummum · 02/07/2009 08:29

Morning everyone.

Llare thinking of you today

Monimo I am going to get my hair highlighted in a couple of weeks (to try to hide the emerging greys and to help people stop looking at my blobby body and my hair instead when I go to a friend's wedding!). When I went last week I fed G under the hairdressing gown - it worked really well because no-one could see. I think it's worth getting it done at the hairdressers if you can because there's nothing worse than a home dye job gone wrong. That being said, I've never tried doing at home (been too scared) so I can't really compare !

Jael how are you today? G was 14lb last time he was weighed and is on the 91st centile !!!

Pula it's so exciting when they start taking an interest, isn't it? G has only just starting smiling, and it is soooo lovely, makes your heart melt :-) He doesn't look like a newborn anymore, they grow up so quick. It's a bit sad that's the last newborn stage I will see.

Have a lovely day everyone.x

Tummum · 02/07/2009 08:30

Forgot to say congrats on O's weight gain Ses. Fab news.

LoobyLou36 · 02/07/2009 09:06

morning all...

we've been up since 5.30. M woke at 3 for a feed then only slept for about an hour and was fussing again sssooo tired today.

I can't believe M is 10wks old today. Weighed her at bf group yesterday she's now 11lb 4! 50th centile.

I've been dyeing my hair at home for years as I'm too mean to pay salon prices.I have short hair tho so its alot easier.
I now get my niece to colour and cut it tho as she's a trainee hairdresser

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 02/07/2009 10:51

Hello all!

Llare I'm so sorry, I hope the outcome was ok. I'm thinking of you.

mandbumps I'm thinking of you and your friend too, so unbearably sad.

momi and pula I'm sorry about yesterday, I was raging with DH, he's known for a while about yesterday. Stupid git. He knew how much I was looking forward to it as well, he's been out with his mates and whatnot, I haven't done anything for 'me' as such and I was excited . I'll be coming to York a lot over the summer though, to take the girls to Granny's during the holidays, so I'm sure we can have some meets over the summer.

Well, S was weighed on Monday (can't remember if I've already posted this), she was 8lb 11 or 12 when she was born, she was 10lb 5oz on Monday at 3.5 weeks, I'd been worrying that she wasn't feeding enough, especially as she only feeds for 10-15 mins max at a time but it would appear that she's doing fiiiiine , so she's packing on the chub . She's also long and has a biiiiig heeeeead.

The hot weather has been too much for our babies and for my poor pooch, she just sits on the kitchen step panting.

I got to take DH's car yesterday when I went to get a few bits from the shop. It's a beautiful Alfa Spider (2-seater Cabriolet), so I had the roof down. Bliss. I did look like a mad harridan afterwards though, with crazy, big, windblown hair .

Talking of hair, if I'd made it to York yesterday Momi, you would have had no hesitation in booking a salon appt to get your hair dyed. I'm a home-dyer , I have very long and very thick hair and the dye job I do is appalling . It's patchy and crap (and I dyed it a rich, bright red last time and it's faded to weedy carroty gingery orange, nice). GO TO A SALON. I'm due to redo it, but I'm using Lush Henna this time, as it's so much better for your hair and gives it a gorgeous shine and colour.

Shurrup Grumpy and go and do the laundry!!!

Momino · 02/07/2009 11:22

hi all.
thanks for your hair dying advice. I'm now leaning towards getting it done. I'll ask what the stylists think 1st (maybe i don't need it yet ) as well as how harper is settling.

grumpy, we did miss you yesterday but hope to see you soon. btw well done on S's weight!

looby, also sounds like M is gaining well.

tummum, am sad my littlest is growing out of newborn stage as well .

gotta nappy to change, byeee.

Another home dyer here - think I've raved about lushhenna here before it's a faff but so many people have made nice comments and a v well groomed friend couldn't believe it wasn't a professional job

llare thinking of you today

flippin sorry about dh's job. Not what you need right now

still stuck on the sofa bf'ing. A has developed a aversion to being put down and to her dad cuddling her so I haven't had any sleep yet

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 02/07/2009 11:55

running which Caca do you use (you look dark on your photos, so I'm guessing brown)? I've used the brown before, I was thinking of mixing brown and red together or using the chestnut one......I do love the stuff, makes even my frizzy 'do' shiny and swishy.

I am stuck on the sofa too. S is being an awkward little beast, sucking/snoozin'/sucking/snoozin' without actually having a proper feed. She must be very thirsty.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 02/07/2009 12:01

Oh and I've just been reminded by posting on another thread:

DD1 got 5s in her SATS (5 is the highest mark I think). She's very clever. And her bottle rocket was a winner in a competition and she won a prize for that.

runningmonkey · 02/07/2009 12:10

Well done grumpy to your dd!

I use half n half of the Brun and the marron as the brown made me look goth (and at 30 I'm def too old for goth) and the chestnut made me proper ginge which looked wierd with my dark eyebrows.

runningmonkey · 02/07/2009 12:12

I should add I have absolutely no problems with gingers... Just didn't suit me
