Am still here

Think lilyloo might be away camping....

Am just panicking at all the sewing/labelling I have to do for J's uniform

I tried it on him this morning and he looks soooo grown up

Gingeme · 25/08/2009 21:04

Have you tried the iron on labels ? Or just wright his initials on the labels with permenant marker. You can buy thin ones from WHSmith. Thats what I do

simpson · 25/08/2009 21:43

hate ironing even more than sewing

May go to WHsmiths though and get write on pen

madmouse · 25/08/2009 23:06

Hi Ginge - sorry struggling here, finding it difficult to post things

Although Nathan doing fab - physio teaching him to cruise now as his standing is so good.

we are off to Devon on 5 September - but first finishing work on Friday for 3 months sabbatical so I can hopefully work on getting myself back in one piece again so I can actually do my job.

3 months of having 2.5 days a week just for myself - with Nathan at the childminder. Will take some getting used to! But with therapy starting properly on 18 september will need the space methinks.

Gingeme · 26/08/2009 10:02

madmouse all sounds good
Simpson I think they sell them in most newsagents. I also use DH's dvd writing pens iykwim ?
My big boys are arriving in half an hour.
Just put yet more washing on.
Keeping my fingers tightly crossed that the boys keep up there sleeping pattern. While we were away they were going to bed about 10pm and waking about 8.30. They have been going about 8 here but still waking about 8.30 . Watch this space

simpson · 26/08/2009 11:52

Hi all

M being herself challenging today

New words "don't wanna" and "mine"

Taking Dcs out later as J needs his hair cut. Hope weather perks up first!!

Also going to attempt to make a fruit pudding with M's milk

Gingeme · 26/08/2009 16:55

Weathers been pretty rubbish here today too
Had a day indoors have nearly caught up on my washing
Big boys turned up about 11. They were here about an hour then went swimming with their friends
George has some new words too 'car' 'fish' 'ola' he hasn't learnt 'no' yet though.

LaTrucha · 26/08/2009 17:31

Simpson - LOL on new words. How was the pudding?

Gingeme - Glad you had nice hols. Back to rain and washing eh?

Does anyone know whether, if a child's feet are a particular width fitting the feet will stay at that width fitting?

Sabela's feet are now a 3G and I've found some baragin 4G's in town. Is it worth getting them or is it just impossible to tell?

Fixing up her bedroom today and tomorrow . Parrot mobile arrived today

JustKeepSwimming · 26/08/2009 19:22

Just popping in quickly, going out to dinner with DH as it's his birthday

PIL here for a couple of days, hope we can catch up on some sleep and maybe even go out both of us with T.

Have bought that toy off ebay, jsut waiting for delivery now - will need to rearrange toys - put away the ones he's too 'young' for and dig out some of the baby-er ones.

Potty training t (sure you meant T Gingeme?) is on hold temporarily, hoping grandma can get it going....

right off for curry & beer (prefer wine but the wine they have there is always horrid!)

Housemum · 27/08/2009 01:00

LaT - one of my friends often buys shoes in the next size up, she gets the last-minute Start Rite bargains in Russell and Bromley and says she's always used them with no problem. I'm just paranoid that they won't fit/will fit in wrong season! Sometimes feet do get narrower from their first shoes - DDs 1 & 2 both had G but went down to F at some point, can't remember how quick that happened.

Potty training - please tell me you are talking about older LO's, can't believe Amelie would be anywhere near - she used to do all her poos on the loo as I spotted her "poo-face" but now I don't watch her like a hawk it's back to waiting to catch a whiff from the nappy...

Some new words would be good - we still have a vocabulary of look/mummy/no/bye, sometimes hello. Anyone see Michael McIntyre on telly the other night talking about kids not talking/walking? Was v funny.

Am keeping fingers crossed for DD1 - GCSE results tomorrow!

Labels - if anyone is ordering labels from www.stuckonyou.biz, please CAT me as I get commission on their ones and I can give you my agent details (they do loads - iron on and sticky, all the DDs cups/lunchboxes/tupperwares have cute sticky labels that go through the dishwasher)

Holidays - felt v unusual this year - all unpacked and cases away the day we came back, 90% of washing ironed and put away by the following day. I'm getting the hang of it at last!! Had fab time in Wales, weather not brilliant but good enough, would definitely go again sometime as there were loads of towns/beaches we didn't have time to visit. Amelie loved the sea, and the swimming pool which had a slide in the baby pool, so she spent an hour each time just going up and down this slide. I remembered why I don't like bikes - hard work up hills, just as well the bike hire was included otherwise I'd have hired the golf cart instead.

Night night

Housemum · 27/08/2009 13:13

Yay! She got 7Bs and 4Cs - she is v happy and has gone to Pizza Hut with friends to celebrate

AngeChica · 27/08/2009 20:10

Hi all. I am going back to work next week. I'm feeling OK. I am getting some good tailored counselling. In the meantime I have been hacking down & trying to tame my wilderness garden and also doing a lot of FarmVille (Yes JKS & Simps I am now addicted!) while DS is at the CM - Madmouse I wonder if you have any kind of DIY / garden project you could do on your sabbatical as I have found this to be absorbing and therapeutic! Got 3 crumbles' worth of blackberries out of the garden so far.

Had a mishap last week as we were out on a walk with the dog, we were doing 1-2-3 swing with DS and he pulled his elbow - the top of the radial bone in the arm pops out. DS was in a lot of pain whenever he tried to move his arm . Went to A&E & just before we went in to see the triage nurse DS started picking up toys and using hand normally again - it had popped itself back in This is a very common injury picking up toddlers and swinging them, or pulling them back out of the road for example. My suspicion is that partly due to DS being so darn heavy!

Housemum Alek only says "there" and "hiya" that's it! Yay for your DD.

Congrats to Fragolina on PG and to Naetha if she ever reads this still.

LaT Alek went from 4G, 5G to 6.5H and that is because he has apparently grown a very high instep. I was annoyed as I have some nearly new 7G winter shoes waiting that will prob be no good now.

Glad you had a nice hol Gingeme. Hello to everyone else. Thanks for all the nice messages earlier in the summer.

Gingeme · 28/08/2009 09:38

Fantastic news on dd's results
Wow on your washing straight after oyur hols. I'm still doing mine mind you I did strip my beds too.
Ange ouch! re ds elbow glad it pulled back by itself though. I remember my shoulder doing that at school in P.E. Still feel sick at thethought of it being popped back !!
Frag Congrats xxx
We all went to Legoland yesterday. The boys enjoyed it though I have to say Iwas a bit dissapointes as it was so busy we didn't get to go on much.
Buying new trainers for David today so a bit easier day.

madmouse · 28/08/2009 13:02

Hi guys

Simpson has problems with puter again - looks like broadband has gone - no idea when she will be back. So she is not ignoring anyone just frustrated!

LaTrucha · 28/08/2009 15:27

Housemum - well done on results!

Ange -ooo poor litle lad.

Madmouse - we still on for 10th?

Sabela's first night in her room was awful. She really adores her room - so much so that she couldn't get to sleep at night, an over-excited vomit at 9pm and bedtime finally at 11am. Up at 5.30.

DH and I were so looking forward to a baby-free night!

Still, napping happily there now ..

simpson · 28/08/2009 17:35

Hi all

Just borrowing my dad's computer for 10 mins or so.

Wanted to check FT & FV but can't get on it as using a prepay stick thingie in back of computer is sooooo slow

Hope everyone is ok?

M had a physio session on thursday and is is very double jointed (hyper mobile) in hips and knees which accounts for the late walking and drunken walk

Have got excerises to do with her to build up strength in legs.

Also am braving it and trying M with some soya tomorrow

Is J's birthday on Monday and H arrives on Sunday to visit him. Not looking forward to that at all!! He is staying at my mum's, thank goodness!!

Anyway, will try and borrow my mum's computer on Monday!

JustKeepSwimming · 28/08/2009 17:57

Housemum - wow well done to your DD what are her plans next?
Will try and remember the stuckonyou for the future!
The trip away sounds fun

Ange - lol at joining FarmVille - i find it so addictive!
at Alek's incident, hope he's fully recovered?

G - well done on so much washing! your big boys still with you?

LaT - hope she settles better for you tonight!!

Simpson - soooo frustrating having pc problems. mine stopped working - then DH got an email from the provider afterwards saying our system was being upgraded or something - why didn't they let us know before switching us off?!?!
Good luck with the soya! is the milk still going down ok? i remember you saying your mum said you grew out of it too, around the same age?
Blurgh re H visiting, good on your mum though!

right, well lots of phone calls toing and froing but news re H:

  • Tues am, go in and register for MRI
  • then go to Epilepsy Development Clinic & see a Neuro-Psychiatrist
  • go back to ward for MRI
  • go home
  • Wed am go in for 24hr EEG (telemetry), stay in overnight
  • Thurs come home

oh, & fit in a meeting sometime Tues with the Professor whenever suits us between appointment!
phew!

They are taking us seriously at last and things are moving.
there is a possibility of surgery within 2/3 months.

fingers tightly crossed for good results and fast moving appointments!!!

Otherwise, been at the beach with T & MIL this afternoon while DH worked & FIL H-sat. H is not on routine today, think teeth are bothering him.

madmouse · 28/08/2009 20:31

LaT nooooo we moved it to the 17th - I am in Devon on the 10th xx

LaTrucha · 29/08/2009 09:12

ok Madmouse

Gingeme · 29/08/2009 15:36

Afternoon ladies.
I have a pporly George here today sounds like a sore throat. Could be the air con on the plane me thinks. I have had a bit of a sore throat too.
Gave blood this morning. I have now given 25 pints over 29 years I get a silver medal, well its a little badge thingy. My Nan had her gold one. I have it in my jewelary box
Yes my big boys are still here though they are mostly out with their friends when they visit now. As long as theyre in by 6 for dinner its ok I guess.
Not alot else hapening realy.
Right better get some more washing on and get the boys up from their sleep. Been napping since 12

JustKeepSwimming · 30/08/2009 06:32

Morning all, my turn to get up, 6.10 so not too bad. and i only woke once at 3am for no reason.

G - your big boys are so grown up now! it's good they have friends where you are though, could be less fun for them if not.
good on you all that blood donating
i have done it once and keep meaning to do it again but often have a big NO thing, pg, bf, trips to Africa, etc. In fact with 25 pints in 29 years + 5 pgs, how'd you fit that lot in?!

PIL still here, good in some ways, hard work in others, as is usual. They are going to take T home with them on Mon whilst we deal with H. Have been warned by another MNetter that the Wed/Thurs appt could be extended if they need more info so have warned the PIL too. T could be there for a while!!

Gingeme · 30/08/2009 14:08

6.10 JKS how do you do it?
Yes it is hard to work out how Idid it though I gave more regularly when I was younger b.c. I am also a marrow doner and an organ doner.
Went to car boot this morning. Not much there this time. Got a few thicker tops for David ready for Autumn/winter. Thats about it realy.
George still croaky today and not his usual happy self . I'm totaly blocked up too.
Felt so healthy when we were away
Ah well enough of my moaning. x

JustKeepSwimming · 30/08/2009 14:21

G - dunno,, have to i suppose! we take it in turns and the days 'off' get me through!
I'm on the organ donor register thing, we looked at marrow donation but never filled out the forms i don't think - bit of a wuss re the pain
air con on planes has a lot to answer for i always think.

H back to usual sleepy self today after a grumpy day yesterday. watching Grand Prix with FIL - nice to have someone else who appreciates it!

Roast later, yum!

LaTrucha · 30/08/2009 18:24

We're still really early here too JKS. It does put a bit of a strain on thngs!

Today, DH has taught Sabela to open a DVD case, take the DVD, open the DVD machine, put it on and turn it on.

Gingeme · 30/08/2009 20:02

LaT kiss all your good DVDs goodbye
