morning all

Hope everyone is ok?

Ange - you around?

H rang late last night and wants to come over for J's birthday. He wanted to come over for party but I said no to that one as I want it fun not stressful iyswim but think he will come over for the actual birthday. Not mentioning it to J yet in case it does not happen.

madmouse - need your help!! Sol still not called back Need help drafting letter telling them to bog off basically and will also need marriage cert back.

JKS - how are you? Sorry new meds not working for H. Can you call hosp before 1st Sept?

LaT - did you decide what to buy Sabela in the end?

Lilyloo - if its anything like J & M the fighting and sqabbling is all day

AngeChica · 12/08/2009 22:41

I am here! Sorry no time to catch up but hope you are all having some good times with your LOs over the summer.

Busy with family visiting. Went in to work briefly on Mon they insisted I see occ health before I come back properly.

My mood is better ... things still gnawing at back of my mind but not overcoming me any more.

DH due back from his travels in Europe next week. Holiday was OK. A was amazing on the flights. I though he would be a nightmare but he just slept

He has slept through every night since we got back!

Still has only one word "there"

JustKeepSwimming · 13/08/2009 17:06

Hi all, sorry got left behind a bit so time for a catch-up if i can.

LaT - don't worry DH didn't have swine flu, think we both have/had throat infections so no worries there. Are you all recovered now?
glad your DB is trying to help himself, hope it lasts.

Simps - wow at M's dentist appt, do you have a fab dentist? haven't even thought of taking H, took T once with me ages ago, and my dentist said they don't look at them until they are 2.5! he had his first proper one a few months ago, we are due to go back in november i think.
i thought it was stupid as T (& H) had their teeth early so why not look?!

& PMSL at the Pingu pants
that her teeth might be affected though, will her adult teeth be ok if her symptoms calm down as she gets older?

grr at H causing you more stress. hope he does make it for J's sake though.

We are ok thanks, H the same/worse in some ways. the new meds doing nothing positive as far as i can see. i could call the hosp i guess but think they would just say carry on for the next few weeks and we'll see what he's like when we see him. i know the professor we're seeing is away some of this month anyway.

Yey for Madmouse's boss!

Lily - hope things aren't too hectic at yours!

Ange - hi there glad A is sleeping well, makes the whole world look better doesn't it?!

right, should be getting some tea sorted for the boys - we all went out for lunch so just a light tea needed.

madmouse · 13/08/2009 17:44

Hi all just got cross message from Simpson computer has given up ghost! She is not sure when she will be back online

JustKeepSwimming · 14/08/2009 20:18

evening all

Simps - i hope you get back online asap, it's v frustrating when technology lets you down, grr.

Rant alert:

BIL & SIL (who were here last weekend and who are emigrating to Oz in Sept) have just announced pg no 3.

I'm pissed off.

Dunno why. Irrational but there you have it.

simpson · 14/08/2009 21:56

Ok am back

Lost a whole field of crops on farmville though

M been spectacularly difficult today her new thing is not wanting to get dressed

She also put her new shoes in full bath without me seeing and J's favourite car in kitchen bin

JKS - ((hugs)) Hope wine going down well?

LaTrucha · 15/08/2009 07:42

Is it time to be giving DH the eye, JKS?

Simpson - I can't imagine anything more frustrating than an opinionated toddler, shoes in the bath and no internet. fuming for you.

We're ok. Sabela's sleeping is back to being truly terrible. I'm supposed to be having a month of sleep (ie. I'm sleeping downstairs while DH looks after S during the night) but she wakes and cries so much and is still on the move at 5am that I still feel totally knackered. She's teething so there's not much to be done but I think as soon as I can see she's better I think mummy is going to be back in town with some tough love.

We're finally getting ready to move her into her own room. Any tips?

We do have to clear out all the stuff we've just dumped stored in there though ...

LaTrucha · 15/08/2009 07:43

Oh. and I just entered Sabela's name into the baby name finder on here without realising people could put comments in about it.

Will feel very sad if it gets nasty comments

LaTrucha · 15/08/2009 07:57

Just been looking at this website. Some good deals, especially on doll prams, if you'r e looking for Christmas. Seems to be mainly 'small' toys though. Some good party favours.

LaTrucha · 15/08/2009 08:00

Saw this on ebay and thought of you JKS. V. good price IMO.

Can you tell we've been up since 5am?

Sabela just trotting round taking her teddies to different parts of the room and getting frustrated when they won't put her shoes on, so I'm leaving her to it.

JustKeepSwimming · 15/08/2009 21:20

Evening everyone

Simps - did your Dad fix the computer then? M sounds like a right handful. not long till school & usual routine
(wine always goes down well here, lol, hic!)

LaT - have to wait to ttc no 3 until Jan at least to give my c-s scar more chance to heal to give me more chance for a home birth. And who knows what will be going on here in Jan with H - a big worry for me is that we will reach Jan and have to put off ttc

Thanks for that link, i'm watching it and some other ones too, really don't think i can justify the space needed just yet but will find a way

Hope you don't have too many 5am starts, i know they are a killer.
(and hope no-one says anything negative about Sabela as a name too!)

Had a productive day here, had handyman in so lots got fixed and sorted out

H had lots of nods & spacing out so no change there....

wine & tv here, fingers crossed for a post-6am start tomorrow as it's my turn to get up first!
oh and have got T to sit on the loo with no nappy on 5 times today, no 'output' but sticker chart and sweet-bribery seem to be working so far....

JustKeepSwimming · 16/08/2009 11:07

Morning everyone, just chatting to another mum i know with a similar (slightly older) aged child as H and she's just put her in a bed. Then i remembered that T was in a bed by now ready for H's arrival.
Anyone put their DC into a bed yet? or planning to soon?
I'm not planning on changing H over yet - figure he spends so much time in there i'm happier with knowing he's safe in a cot.
just got me thinking...

DH gone food shopping, H sleeping, T watching tv, though we have a plan to make 'weather' pictures later....hmm.

Not much planned though various jobs that could be done.

Wonder how Gingeme + boys are getting on

simpson · 16/08/2009 11:31

Hi all

Hope everyone ok?

JKS - not planning on putting M in a bed for a good while TBH maybe even another yr

J has got toddler bed which M will go into and I want to wait until I feel J is old enough for a cabin style bed ie bunk bed with desk/wardrobe underneath as his room is quite small.

Going out for sunday lunch later today to carvery with my brother.

May have to sweet talk him into babysitting next friday as I been invited out with the girls.

LaTrucha · 18/08/2009 10:39

Doeas anyone know what's going on with MN and the Daily Mail?

Fragolina · 18/08/2009 11:22

Hi everyone! Just did a quick catch up, its so lovely to hear how all of you are doing, and the not-so los as well!

All fine here, sorry to have been off the radar for ages. Big news is I'm 19 weeks pg! Forgot how tiring it is, but otherwise fine, and actually so much more chilled out than the first time around.

Work is ok, my unsypathetic boss is finally losing his marbles (called an emergency meeting last week to talk about a restructuring document that he hadn't read, and hadn't emailed any of the other line managers - so wasn't a lot of point to that meeting! ) I am actually at home today (no more MN at work), waiting for washing machine repairman, so have actually maanged a bit of a catch up read.

Big hugs, and so excited that you're all still here!!!

simpson · 18/08/2009 11:39

Frag - good to hear from you and big congrats on pg

Grrr on the work front!!

LaT - It happened when my lap top died but from what I can gather the DM is now doing a regular column about whats been going on, on MN and will be quoting people (MN names obv.) which is why there has been a lot of flouncing/name changes etc.

Its the idea of an ex MNer who is a journo apparently!!

LaTrucha · 18/08/2009 15:03

HI Fragolina - Congratulations on your pregnancy. How exciting!

Simpson - Big . I think it's a real intrusion. I don't post on MN so my views / experiences can be aired elsewhere. Particularly not in the DM which is NOT a favourite newspaper.

JustKeepSwimming · 18/08/2009 15:06

Fragolina - hey there! and congrats on new pg

LaT - yes as Simps says really. i'm thinking of changing my name to something: JustKeepSlaggingOffTheDailyMail?!

Simps - you doing ok? good plan with beds. as mothercare don't make th same bed as i've got for T, i think i'll wait and get 2 singles that can change into bunkbeds for the future. at some point, no rush.

Had HV here earlier - she saw H having some big nods and almost falling asleep on the sofa. as expected he 'failed' his development check she says he's basically an 8-month old who can walk now.
saying it all out loud, writing stuff down, etc. makes it all somehow more real. and more depressing.

only 2 weeks till GOSH appt, just hope we can agree on a future plan and make some progress.

simpson · 18/08/2009 18:07

JKS - LOL at name change

for H and his check

What will happen now at next appt?

Are there more drugs to try, or a question of upping dose???

LaTrucha · 18/08/2009 20:06

JKS - that really doesn't sound like a helpful thing for your HV to say. I don't think they realise how things stick in a parent's head. Neither does it sound like an accurate way of discussing H's condition IMO.

JustKeepSwimming · 18/08/2009 21:28

Simps - not sure what will happen at appt, sure they will want to reach the max dose of drug 3, and wean off drug 2 and see (though i am not hopeful).
i want to leave there with a realistic timetable for all the tests they want to do pre-surgery and an approx date for surgery if he is a good candidate. plus a checklist of what those tests are.
and i want the chance to try the combo of drugs 1&2 again as that was when he was most awake.

LaT - the sad truth is though she is right we came to that conclusion together.
things have deteriorated so gradually that we haven't 'noticed' but she has seen H ever since he was born as she is a friend from bf group from way back with T. apart from his walking, he is on target for an 8 month old. we can't deny that.

what we have to start thinking about is, say he has the surgery, once he has recovered from the direct impact of it, we have to get help from all the different areas/therapists out there to make we help him to catch up as quickly as poss so that he can get back on track. and part of us has to address the possibility that he might not get back on track ever. it's easy to live head in the sand and think surgery will be a miracle cure, but it probably won't be. there will be other things to deal with.
right now i just want him to be awake more so he can maintain where he is and not lose anything else.
if he 'lost' walking i think i would really struggle.

sorry a very down post, 2 glasses of wine + hv visit + getting late.
i'm off to bed, hopefully more cheerful tomorrow

LaTrucha · 19/08/2009 07:50

Morning everyone.

Hope you feel more springy today JKS. Unbelievably tough for you.

Two pieces of news here. The first is that Sabela seems to suddenly self-weaned. She didn't have any milk at all yesterday. She has asked this morning but she's quite easily distractible. She usually asks when I'm doing housework and not playing with her. I feel a bit emotional about it, but don't want to get her started again. I think it's better that I didn't know the last bf was the last bf.

The other thing I've forgotten .. LaT thinks... She did say Makka Pa this morning.... hmmm....

but also Dad had his latest scan results on Monday and I was preparing myself for the worst as other tests suggested some progression but hte doctor (not the radiographer it should have been ) said she couldn't see any deterioration and they don't want to see him for another three months. Yay!

simpson · 19/08/2009 10:33

LaT - great news on your dad

How do you feel about the self weaning? Means you may get pg easier Can't remember are you still TTC?

JKS - ((hugs)) for you Hope consultant helpful at next appt.

Would he be likely to lose skills he has already or just learn more ATM?

M's new word/phrase is "all done" so is eating very little ATM as practicing new phrase

LaT - we have "pukka pukka" and "pickle" and "daisy" here

Off on teddy bears picnic today with friends. J woke up at midnight in total panic as he could not find teddy he wanted to take

LaTrucha · 19/08/2009 13:01

HI - yes we're still TTC. I'm ok about her self-weaning. I feel a little bit sad but not wnough to give in when she asks, which she has a couple of times. I feel it's as good a time to give up as any, so I'm encouraging her not to feed.

Now I'm sitting waiting for the magical weight loss I've been promised to begin

simpson · 19/08/2009 14:20

just got back from teddy bears picnic totally sun burnt Covered DCs in cream and forgot about myself

LaT - guess the BFing thing is made easier by TTC ie you will BF another iyswim.
