Evening ladies.
Many congratulations Lucky
Grrr at your H Simpson. Poor M plenty of Sudocrem for that sore bum.
JKS DH wouldn't dare go clothes shopping on his own he has such terrible taste . I remember when he first moved in with me as quick as he was putting his clothes into the wardrobe I was taking them out His wardrobe was stuck in the 80's and I think most of us know how terrible that fashion was
Not much planned for the weekend realy. Got my nephews 6th birthday party tomm afternoon. Will probably try the car boot again on Sunday weather permitting. Thats about it.
Just over 2 weeks till Tenerife I have just tried on my summer bits. All still fits. Worked it out on the calender its gonna be mooncup week the first week
Ah well time for a quick shower before New Tricks at 9.

JustKeepSwimming · 24/07/2009 19:18

Lucky - how are you feeling? any ms? have you told family? hope poker night is fun, sounds fun
Oh and well done A re her 18mo check

Lily - you guy sare getting really into camping - i think i would have forced dh into it if not for H but can't face sitting around a campsite while H sleeps all day! and given weather atm quite glad we are at home!
ARGH re you friend! How old will all the DC be by then?
will H be able to mind himself as it were? maybe palm off get someone to watch M while you and L do bridesmaidy things?
what has dp said yet, if anything?

G - is it 2 weeks you're spending in Tenerife? bugger about the mooncup. i'd have to go for tampons on holiday tbh.
Have only had to tell dh to take one top back, pink stripes to be fair the label & website (M&S) says red but it was vivid pink! the rest are fine and he got rid of all his old tatty stuff last night, may have to check that over the weekend to be sure though!
My clothes on the other hand...well, cheapo rubbish most of them and i really long to look chic and elegant, lol!!

Had a sad day, nothing really in the big scheme of things; H woke early from nap so we rushed out to join friends in the playground for a birthday picnic. he was nodding big nods before we even got in the car so i should have abandoned plans then! then he fell asleep in the buggy in the playground - v unusual for him, then it rained so we moved to one mum's house - but we all got soaked and the buggy tipped over, and T was complaining and H was wailing and...well you get the picture! so abandoned and came home early. H went to bed 12.30-5 record even for him!
T, DH & me had a lovely indoor picnic so that was good

then one friend texted to say her DD is ill and has been prescribed Tamiflu - same little girl that gave T a sloppy kiss bye yesterday.....

oh well, not much we can do now....

sitting here enjoying the lights & sounds show outside

Afternoon ladies
Yes JKS 2 weeks in Tenerife. Going to get some euros on Monday Been saving hard for the spending money though shouldn't have to spend too much as we are all inclusive
Had a fun morning at the park. Edward stayed dry the whole time again he also woke with a dry nappy this morning. I'm not holding my breath just yet though.
George is getting more teeth I think. He has had his hand stuffed in his mouth the past couple of days and has been dribbling . Still it will be his last 4
Hows everyone else this sunny afternoon ?

simpson · 25/07/2009 19:14

Hi all

have had a lovely day today weather wise

Have struggled a bit though as I went out with friends last night for a few drinks (one "friend" proceeded to tell me off for booting out H )

J woke up screaming at 4am because he had lost his pillow

Then I heard him going downstairs at 6am and raiding the biscuit tin

He was hungry because he refused to eat his tea then night before and I am getting tough re no snacks.

However M had an afternoon sleep and me and J had a little doze on the sofa which has restored me somewhat!!

Lilyloo - what are you going to do re Oz??

Gingeme - very of your holiday

JKS - did the clothes go back??

JustKeepSwimming · 25/07/2009 19:41

Simps - & at your friend. does she know what you've been through? well obv not or she wouldn't have said that!
Hope you had fun with the rest of them?

He hasn't made it back to M&S yet, but it is on his list, lol!

G - really sounds like E has got the hang of this toilet lark why/how did you start? (remind me again, how old is he?)
think H may well be starting to get his last 4 too, but it's hard to tell with him as he has a whinge whenever he's tired anyway (ie all the time!). was about now that T got his if i remember right.

Actually had a good day here, H woke early, so had his morning nap early, so we made it out to the rollercoasters before lunch (H in the backpack with DH mostly, though he did come on the ferris wheel), then had lunch at a cafe and the boys were really well behaved then home for H to go back to bed so timing worked perfectly

then DH took T out for a visit to one of the local fire stations which he loved

watching some Midsomer Murders with DH and having nibbles & dip

Gingeme · 25/07/2009 23:15

at your friend Simpson. Just what you don't need on a night out!
JKS Edward will be 3 in October. We started on the 5th July. We weren't taking it seriously at first, just seeing how he would take to it. He did pretty brilliant straight off so we carried on
I know you must have explained it all but why is H so tired? Is it because of his epilepsy or because of the drugs hes taking to control it? And what do you mean by 'nods'? Tell me to mind my own if you like
Right off to bed I hope. The big boys woke George on their way to bed so Ive had to re settle him .
Night all xx

JustKeepSwimming · 26/07/2009 06:25

Morning all - 5.25 today
and both of them, grr.

G - the tiredness is all to do with the abnormal activity in his brain.
If he has a tonic seizure (big fit) then his brain uses something like 4 times the amount of energy normally used in that time.
the 'nods' are called absences, when a smaller 'misfire' happens and it makes him drop his head. sometimes it's just a quick nod, sometimes a very deep nod which unbalances him and makes him fall over
those nods use more energy than normal too.
and his EEG showed that even when he looks normal there is a constant level of abnormal activity going on which uses more energy than normal too.

So he gets very tired very quickly. He manages about 2 hours awake at a time. means he sleeps more than a newborn i reckon.

(of course i wouldn't tell you to mind your own, lol)

One of the nice docs at Gosh agreed with me that his sleep is the easiest way to measure his brain health - and atm it's not great.

Am quite at E's toilet training, wish T would even show an interest!

simpson · 26/07/2009 10:25

MN very slow this morning Server wise I mean, not chatwise iyswim.

When i got J up this morning I noticed his PJ, sheets, duvet etc all covered in dried blood

Turns out he had had a nose bleed in the night and not called me and tried to clean up himself

Was dried blood on walls, packet of wet wipes etc

Poor J though

And I did not hear a thing

JKS - Grrr on the early starts. Has H started new meds yet?

Lilyloo - Happy camping

Gingeme - still waiting for j to be dry at night and he is nearly 4 Not sure whether to just go for it and part of it is laziness iyswim. Won't get up for loo as he knows he has a nappy on. Or wait till they are dry....

Have a good day, all!!

Gingeme · 26/07/2009 14:36

Thanks for explaining that one JKS it was in fact DH who was asking about it all.Sounds quite complicated to me. Will he ever get better? Will he have to take meds all his life? I think I would be in pieces
Simpson Edward did similur a couple of weeks ago with a nose bleed. Scary isn't it? My 13 year old used to have loads of nose bleeds in the summer months. Had to have them quarterised in the end.
We went to a car boot sale today. We all came home with something which was good. Got David an excelent Spiderman outfit for just £2. Hes wearing it now. George got a soft Bob The Builder which says different phrases annoyed with it already but he loves it! DH got a couple of nice pairs of shorts for our holiday and best of all we got a light umbrella buggy with rain cover for just £5.

JustKeepSwimming · 26/07/2009 17:03

Simps - yuk on the blood everywhere, have you got it out of everything?
No new meds for H yet, will have to chase the hosp again tomorrow....
Friend of mine with older boys says her doc won't even worry about boys wetting the bed until after they are 7 - it is apparently quite common for them to wear night-nappies for a long time

G - no worries TBH i think i have held it together for a while and now it is getting to me more, weird. think i also have pmt so snappy and irritable with everyone, even H!
He may well have to take meds forever - the Professor said it is extremely unlikely for him to grow out of it - it's not that kind of epilepsy
Although...if he has the surgery there is a chance that all the abnormal activity could stop and he could be 'cured'

those sound like fab bargains!! love a bargain think we have the same Bob that came with an eBay bundle of Bob toys but it's never said anything and i can't see how to change the batteries. maybe i shouldn't anyway!

We have decided not to try and go to Jersey next week to see friends - have left it to the last minute anyway to see how H was and with him poss starting new drugs next week and with all his sleeping i just don't see it being worth it. we may try and go to Center Parcs for a few days instead - even in the school hols - as it's not a long drive and we can always abandon and come home.

Feeling all PMT-ish & bleurgh today, hope i snap out of it soon!

simpson · 26/07/2009 18:17

Gingeme - very on your bargains!!

JKS - so when are you at GOSH next? Hopefully its a case of getting the right meds then once that is sorted he will improve.

My 90 yr old gran is epileptic and still takes medication in the morning. But I have never known her to have a seizure so meds must do their trick

Got blood off everything apart from pillow which was ruined

Turns out he had fallen out of bed

Feel terrible that I did not hear and he did not think he could come to me

Molly also not well and has gone to bed with temp of 38. Hope she is well enough for music/dance class tom as its the last one...

JustKeepSwimming · 26/07/2009 21:36

Simps - we are at gosh 1st Sept for a general appt. we are also waiting for an MRI appt which could be anytime. i'm really hoping it's before the 1st sept so we can have those results to hand.

sorry to hear about the pillow - was he awake enough to think he didn't want to wake you? or just half asleep and pottering about?

Hope M ok for tomorrow & generally - watch that temp!

don't beat yourself up - you are doing a fab job

Lilyloo · 26/07/2009 21:44

Simps maybe he wanted to show you how big a boy he is ? Poor J!

JKS i guess it takes time to come to terms with it all , must be very frustrating that the drugs don't really seem to be improving things though. Book CP will do you all good to get away.

Gingeme wow some real bargains , gave our car boot a miss today it pured down all day here! Lovely yesterday so cleaned all camping gear. DP took H to cricket.
All packed now ready for off in the morning.

Hope everyone else ok and see you all Fri
feel free to do sundance for me , oh and sleep vibes for M would be good to

Happy hols Lillyloo

JustKeepSwimming · 27/07/2009 20:43

Bit late - but Lily have fun

Yes we must get organised for CP - at least to have it in the diary. plus we will prob stay over in London for the GOSH appt in Sept - if we can get PIL to come up fo rhte day and entertain T.

had another hosp appt for H today - got prescription for new drugs but they don't stock it in the pharmacy - must be a weird one...so we have to go and collect tomorrow morning.

also getting referred to a 'children with disabilities' centre to keep an eye on his development.

simpson · 27/07/2009 21:42

JKS - and on today for you and H

M got better today and we made it to music class then this evening her temp went up again

She went to bed at 5.15

J very good today though and is most excited as we have play date on wed organised

Not much planned for tom. but need to do a bit of shopping so will do that....

LaTrucha · 27/07/2009 21:58

Just popping in - sorry. DH has swine flu and we're still at Dad's sp all a bit . Dad's worried he'll get it and die. [really don't know what to say emoticon]

Just a question: if you had £50 to spend on LO now, what would you buy? MIL has just sent me £50 to spend on Sabela.

We're going to move her into her own room soon. We have the furniture but a bit more storage / decoration would be useful, so those sorts of things count.

Also, I have Sabela's next birhtday present which is this. I had a voucher for the shop and it was the only thing I thought was worth it (and didn't want to fritter £50 on lots of little things. ) If you think it's really not worth it, can you let me know so I can take it back to the shop and fritter the money on little things. Actually, I have a sneaking feeling it's going to be fab....

simpson · 27/07/2009 22:05

LaT - sorry to hear about your DH

If I had money for DD would buy her something that makes noise!!

Ie a keyboard or kids lap top or something

Or a wheeley bug!!! They are £45 or so and DD & Ds love them!! DD not big enough to go on it yet but pushes it around room saying "weeee" LOL!!

If you do go for one though go for large size, small is tiny!!

Gingeme · 28/07/2009 10:35

Morning ladies.
Sorry to hear about your dh Lilly Yes I bet your all worried about your Dad picking it up too. re Duplo you just cant beat it and well done for being so organised. You quite put me to shame
Simpson how is M today? You sound very busy Play dates are always fun. How are things with H now?
JKS how bloody annoying about the chemist not stocking the new meds I hope they will make a difference though when he starts them.
Where is everyone else these days?
We are going to pick up our holiday tickets today DH has a dentist appt at 11 then after the boys sleeps we are going to pick then up along with our euros. We need another big suitcase too so will shop for one. Getting excited about it now. A bit apprehensive too if I'm honest.
Right better get these kids dressed and some washing on.
Have a good day all xx

LaTrucha · 28/07/2009 13:06

Gingeme - it was me not Lily! Thanks for words of support re Duplo! I wasonly organised because I hada voucher that ran out on the 12th August! I thougt I may as well buy something big for her birthday.

Simpson- the keyboard idea is FAB. She's obsessed with my step mother's piano. I might start a thread here to find a good one.

I also thought maybe a little chair and / or table?

JKS - it's a very steep learning curve for you, isn't it? Hope you're hanging in there.

simpson · 28/07/2009 15:55

LaT - table & chair could be good although I warn you be prepared for Sabela to climb up & down & up & down & up....you get the picture

M can get on chair by herself but not down yet so sometimes I "hide" chair from her

But it is lovely to see both Dcs eat from it

Have an afternoon off, well from one child!!

J's best friend from nursery's mum rang this morning to see if he wanted to go and play

They picked him up and 1 and will drop him off at 5, and feed him too

M sleeping, I really should get on with reading book for MN book club....

JKS - glad you got H's meds, fingers X.

LaTrucha · 28/07/2009 16:01

Sounds like a great afternoon Simpson. What kind of table and chair do you have?

simpson · 28/07/2009 17:35

Have just got a cheap one from wilkinsons.

I have a code for 20% ELC toys if you want??

Can only be used once though.

It came in Joshua's birthday club pack today, but I won't need it
