Hi all - thank you for your welcomes

Sorry haven't been on again for a few days - only really get chance when i'm in work wed & thurs and then just the odd evening or so!!

Just been having a quick scan through the posts to see whats happening with everyone - you all seem very busy

Ells (my dd) has had me up at 6am most mornings recently and it's totally knackering me out!! (I spend half the night awake anyway going to the loo due to big fat pg belly! ) - so needless to say bedtime had been pretty much after eastenders for me at the mo!

Ells has learnt the word "no" this week - thats fun and games eh?! She can say quite a few words now but mostly prefers to copy animal sounds

So has anyone else had another baby since their Jan 08 dc?? - or expecting?? I see nicky is about due????

P.S. - I'm South Wales - anyone else?? If so where did you deliver?

LaTrucha · 25/06/2009 14:05

Lily - can you try the second link again, please?

simpson · 25/06/2009 14:37

Hi all

Have got sky back!!

Sky+ is fab will be my new toy to keep me entertained!!

Fairysparkles - 2 people on this thread have already had 2nd LOs *Mrs Mcjnr & Rubysmom.

JKS - did you get your ironing done??

Am looking at my pile of dirty laundry, hoping it will disappear by itself

FairySparkles · 25/06/2009 15:20

I'm a big fan of Sky+ too simpson - dp nagged me to get it for ages and I kept telling him to bugger off "whats wrong with free view!"
....eating my words now - can't live without it!!!

simpson · 25/06/2009 15:36

yes, just had to go out and pick J up from pre school but wanted to know DNA results in Jeremy kyle

So used it for the first time!!

FairySparkles · 25/06/2009 16:32

you find yourself recording the most random stuff!

Gingeme · 25/06/2009 17:03

Afternoon all.
Hi FairySparkles You have a 4 year old too and a 17 month old. The difference is I have a 2.6 year old in between What job do you do?
Oh JKS that is horrible. Poor cat. Wonder if it was micro chipped
Yey Simpson for the Sky+. We have cable and I go mad if it goes off even for a few hours Love it
My Dad and my Aunty have just been to visit. I havne't seen my aunty in quite a while. She bought her little jack russell with her. The boys thought she was great fun. Her nails made tippy tappy noises on our wooden floor
Oh George now puts his hands on his lips and says sssssssss...... this is from playgroup on Tuesday when we sing Wheels On The Bus and the mummys on the bus say shh shh shh
Well better get some dinner ready. The first thing David said when he got in is 'Mum I'm hungry'. Im sure their not supposed to say that till there atleast 13

FairySparkles · 25/06/2009 19:13

Hi gingeme - no don't have a 4 year old - just a 17month old, but 6 months pg with the next one - there'll be 20months between them
I work as a support worker with autistic young adults, although I'm on 'light duties' covering reception at the mo due to it being quite a violent job! Hence my ability to spend all day on MN wed and thurs

Just put Ells to bed at the same time as the thunder has started - GREAT!!

madmouse · 25/06/2009 19:39

Hi all

Not feeling very inspired or energetic but have been neglecting you all so wanted to say hello. Reality of life without his mum has hit dh with the subtlety of a sledge hammer today and my depression has caught up with me now I don't have to keep things together abroad anymore. Friend just dropped something off, took one look at me and said 'you are struggling' - hmm that obvious.

Welcome to fairy sparkles.

LaT have you given up on fb or does Sabela not let you?

Nathan is insanely happy to be home again - has been very well settled all day and could not wait to get into bed. Just enjoys using his voice at the moment. He SHOUTS very LOUD just because he can and pulls the funniest faces with it.

JustKeepSwimming · 25/06/2009 19:46

I did get my ironing done yes! though more washing on and dry so more tomorrow. oh well.

love Sky+ here - wouldn't do without it now. though mostly full of kids programs, lol. my parents got an upgraded box when they moved house so i now have 'bigger hard drive' envy
(another pre-holiday job is to check it can fit everything planned to record!)

well feeling smug - actually did some cooking i know!
a packet sauce for casserole so not entirely from scratch but able to say to dh when he rang asking about dinner plans that i'd already cooked! and mash too

had 2 other toddlers round this afternoon so toys are in chaos, lovely afternoon for the mums outside though.

re the cat - it had disappeared by the 2nd school run so hope its owner had found it, but....there were grass cutting men out and i only thought afterwards that they may have picked it up, what it they threw it in their truck to get rid of? would they? then the owners would never know

JustKeepSwimming · 25/06/2009 19:49

Madmouse - (((hugs))) by the bucketful. glad you managed to get home, hopefully having N settled and your friends nearby will help you both get through this horrible time.

FairySparkles - sorry forgot to say hi I'm in Essex, Lucky in North Wales, think she's closest to you.

LaTrucha · 25/06/2009 20:21

Madmouse - off to look for you on FB. I found coming back home and getting on with life after the funeral the worst. The first day back was appalling. We happened to have guests staying and one of them told me, 'I hope you're feeling better now the funeral's over.' I had to go and hide int he kitchen for a very long time!

Has Lucky given up on us?

And Mixedmama?

simpson · 25/06/2009 20:44

Hi all

Had shocking evening with J again. Grrr.

I do not deal with his temper tantrums by myself very well and end up shouting at him then feeling bad after he is in bed

M been an absolute delight and has been singing all day. Her new word is "tootsie" for toes!!

Madmouse - hope you are ok hun??

Spoke to lucky on FB the other day and she said she was having problems getting on MN.

Lilyloo · 25/06/2009 21:02

Lucky will see if i can find that link again.

Simps at sky plus Jeremy Kyle

MM i think the finality after the funeral is really hard to deal with as in some ways the funeral gives you something to focus on!

Fairy another baby , great!!!

Have spent all afternoon in the garden , dp said i look very brown today assured him it was from mowing the lawn and gardening No thunderstorms here it lovely , dc's just gone to bed as we have been out for a walk!

It must be tough on your own. I ahve some inkling of how it must be as we've been alone so long!

When I find Sabela very difficult (actually not for ages but ther you go - she will be!) I find it helps to have a plan in advance. Ie. I think, the first thing I'll do is A and then I'll try B etc. I try and have a few lined up! Otherwise I find myself at a loss for what to do and losing my temper.

Don't feel bad. Everyone loses their temper sometimes.

simpson · 25/06/2009 21:14

Think what i am going to do is expect him to have meltdown every eve then if he doesn't its a bonus iyswim.

And yes LaT think I will think of plan a & b etc...

Just don't know what they are yet

LaTrucha · 25/06/2009 21:17

Well, thta's the trick, eh?

I always think to myself when we're goin gon a journey, 'DD is going to cry and it's ok' etc

She hasn;t yet, but thinking it's inevitable takes the pressure off!

AngeChica · 25/06/2009 21:26

Evening ladies. Wedding was a bit fraught. After running around after A all day without DH to help and my mum being a bit useless TBH, A did indeed fall down a step and hurt his foot, cue tears from both him and "bad mummy". My dad took us both to the park to calm down and he would not walk on it, however an hour later was back in the disco running around like a mad thing . I had my hair and make up done which was nice, felt like a rare bit of pampering, I then felt like a fat frump in my dress the rest of the day My car then broke down on way home with DS and my mum in it. .

Don't have Sky+ here but we do have BT freeview recorder - same concept and it is very handy. However if you pause a programme I sometimes find the whole idea of TIME gets a bit tricky (or is that just me!?)

OK, took DS to the library today for story / singing / craft thing they do there. Basically he ran amok, trying to run out of the door, pulling things off shelves and not sitting still... try again in a few months maybe! I was a tad mortified when one of the other mums told DS off for snatching a toy off her baby - this is the dreaded DS looking so much bigger than his chronological age thing that I have to deal with. But it made me feel like I could not control my child when all the others were sitting there nicely doing glueing and sticking!!!

LaTrucha · 25/06/2009 22:05

Ange - sounds like he's giving you a rare old time! HE was probably just that bit younger than the others. I wouldn't worry about the other mum as long as she wasn't nasty about it. I must say I do say things to other children mainly becaus elots of Sabela's friends are that bit older and don't really understand she's a bit different (and I do my fair share of apologising for the 'bad' behaviour that they wouldn't now do too). If you think about it, there's no point saying to a toddler, 'Now hang on while I get your mummy to tell you not to do this.' They just wouldn't get it.

Madmouse - you sound to be having a hard time bless you

Justkeepswimming - have recently watched finding nemo again so I'm loving your username - I keep singing to myself!!

You all seem to have had better weather than me - just really hot and close all day - not sunbathy tho - now we're having a big fat juicy storm - I'm just crossing all fingers and toes Ells stays asleep!!

Re: those lovely tantrums that our little angels seem to be getting very good at - this
book comes highly reccommended - it really is very good!

Gingeme · 25/06/2009 23:01

Evening ladies no thunder storms here yet. Bet theyll come early am or something horrible like that. Frightens the shit life out of me George has been crying on and off this evening. Not sure why though. DH reckons more teeth but he only has 4 more to come.
I apologise FairySparkles I don't know where I got that idea from then . Good luck with the impending birth etc.
Edward had been driving me mad the past few nights. They all go to bed between 7-7.30 with wash, teeth, milk and story but he then messes about for about an hour the trouble is he puts things into Georges cot like his chair or his pillow and toys. I actualy smacked him tonight because he hurt George with the chair. Now my plan is to cut down his day time nap. He usualy has about 3 hours so I'm going to cut it in half and see how that goes.
Wow what a lot of waffle.
I'm off to bed. Mums up for the weekend
Night all xx

LaTrucha · 26/06/2009 08:54

Gingeme - if he's anything liek Sabela cutting the daytime sleep has a good chance of working.

FairySparkles - I've got that book. Quite common sense but it's good to have it in black and white.

Lilyloo - enjoy the tan! More today!

JKS - I thik the workmen are more likely to have left it on the pavement myself. How was T's day sleep yesterday?

I seem to be accumulating a list of things I want for Sabela. Really I know what she likes is playing with mummy but if you knwo where I can get any of these cheap, can you let me know?

  • Sand and/or water table (why on earth does a piece of moulded plastic cost £45?)
  • Paints and crayons (is it worth splashing out on expensive Crayola ones?)
  • Baby foam armchair
  • Doll's accessories (talc, bottle, juice cup etc) maybe even a doll though she's not so excited about those
  • Plastic tea service - nothing fancy juts cups, forks, saucers and a teapot but lots of them!
simpson · 26/06/2009 11:04

Morning all

Still online

Am determined not to lose my rag with DS today, lets see how long that lasts

They are currently fighting over playing with the aquadraw

Did not even offer M a nap yesterday as she didn't seem tired all day and she went through till bedtime ok, but the last 30mins were a bit of a struggle...

Lilyloo · 26/06/2009 11:25

LaT i was actually looking at this water table
