HI all -

Don't get me wrong. I think Sabela would love nursery. I'm just not ready to share her. Maybe I'll get used to the idea.

Lilyloo- go to the docs. Not all ear infection sneed antibiotics but some do. Get them to take a swab. When I had an ear infection, they didn't, told me most ear infections don't need antibiotics but mine did. I was in agony ofr a week, went back to see them,t hey took a swab and it turned out I had two separate infections BOTH requiring antibiotics!

Ange - I'm impressed with talking LOs too, but our LOs are still very young for speech.

simpson · 23/06/2009 22:15

LaT - you know sabela will be happy at nursery but you have to do what feels right with you

Lilyloo - hope earache clears up. But agree with everyone else I would go to the docs.

Ange - enjoy tom and hope its not too stressful being in a not child friendly place.

On the talking front M says loads New word today was "medicine" Comes out "medseen" LOL!! (which is her ABs BTW)

But she is still no where near walking so I guess it swings in round abouts....

simpson · 23/06/2009 22:16

JKS - forgot to say, looked at your pics and it looked lovely

Lilyloo · 23/06/2009 22:24

Thanks all think i may try (being operative word) to get in docs tom! Think it may be connected to cough etc which still hasn't cleared. L still full of it too. Think we both need to see doc tbh

Ange M still the same hardly any words. She does lobe big barn farm on cbeebies though , bought her the dvd from asda today! 3 floors and lot's of stairs is my worst nightmare tbh hope A doesn't decide to explore them! Have nice time!

LaT i honestly think the thought of leaving them is worse than doing it but still a hard decision to make definately!

Simps M is a real litlle chatterbox

Lilyloo - hope you are feeling a bit better today?

Well still online

My plan of giving M her bottle in her bedroom this morning while I changed her bum worked

As soon as she comes downstairs she refuses milk and says "nana" over and over till she gets a banana

But today she drained the whole lot

Got singing/music class for DCs this morning, if we can get out of house on time

Gingeme · 24/06/2009 11:36

Lillyloo hows the ear today? Never had ear ache but I bet its realy painful
They change from day to day dont they Simpson? George has a new word 'car' not suprising as he is surrounded by them
Hope there aren't any accidents today Ange with lo's and stairs. Enjoy the wedding
I have just got back from having my legs and pits waxed. Didnt hurt as much as I thought it would but is very stingy now. Looks like I have some kind of weird rash on my legs though. She said put Sudocrem on it in about an hour if its still stingy.
Not much planned for this afternoon.
Enjoy the sunshine

LaTrucha · 24/06/2009 12:46

Ok Girls - explain this one!

I've got friends with children at all three local nurseries. I've only heard good stories.

I went to see another nursery today. It's much further from the house and it's much less well equipped BUT I really liked it. In fact, I would have been happy just to leave her.

Theother one was really big. They had fabulous sensory rooms and messy play and a garden with little wooden teepees and tunnels. They had sepearte sleep areas and an area for dancing etc. But all the staff were 'girls' and it seemed somehow impersonal. And all the children were spookily quiet. I saw some LOs I knew there and they just didn't seem their normal happy selves.

The one I went to see today was in a normal big house, the rooms were small, far less cool stuff but had a lovely shady outside garden, had a small number of children and the staff were more mature and seemed to talk and interact with the children more. The staff seemed more spontaneous and the children I knew thee more themselvs. They let Sabela join in and she was really happy. She didn't want to come away.

What do you reckon? Was I just in shock yesterday and so am biased, or are first impressions something ot go on?

Lilyloo · 24/06/2009 13:00

I would definately go on your gut instinct and go with the one you liked!
It really is personal preference and maybe you feel more comfortable with the homelier fell.
Staff make or break a nursery imo so the fact you and S liked them speak volumes.

Earache easing a little i guess. No appointments unless emergency which this will be if it hasn't gone by end of week!

L off to school again this afternoon and i hoping to sit in garden and enjoy sunshine!

LaT - I would definately go for the nursery that you like It sounds lovely.

All go here, have not sat down all day I swear

Must dash, have to go and pick up J...

Gingeme · 24/06/2009 15:52

Yeah I agree gut insincts are usualy right and I know what you mean about 'younger' girls looking after your kids it seems they are just following what they learned at college but don't seem to have the personal touch.Sounds very clinical.

LaTrucha · 24/06/2009 18:03

Well, we've got one more to see next week, so we'll see. The drawback of the one I liked is a really long walk plus a hill! The other one is over the road.

I'll have to talk to DH abou tit too. I've worked out how the funding scheme works and it's not quite what he thinks. We'd still be paying two thirds.

Why so busy Simpson?

Hope the earache goes Lilyloo - have you tried one with codeine in?

Gingeme - exactly - it did really seem a bit too 'educational' - also the manageress was full of National Curriculum talk, and having been a teacher I don't quite trust anyone who buys the textbook way too much. I always thought is was a load of bs myself.

We're not having any joy with ~Sabela gicing up bf. I've tried to cut it out during the day but she keeps on asking and gets quite upset. I'm not being very strict so when she starts getting upset I do give it. MAybe she'll start going off it gradually.

Her other current favourite thing is walking up to me lifting my shirt and squeezing my tummy. Makes me feel a million dollars.

I have lost 5 kilos though on my secret diet I haven't told you about so yay!

JustKeepSwimming · 24/06/2009 18:39

5 kilos LaT? fab
and the 2nd one sounds better from what you've said. maybe another visit to the 1st if you're wondering if it's your perception?

am currently sat on the floor behind T's chair as he & H watch tv before bed.
I'm a passenger in his car you see!

Had a lovely afternoon with a friend, her DD and T play beautifully together - lots of paddling pool time today.

H slept 3 hrs + 3.5hrs today. ho hum.

nearly bedtime, i need to see what damage i did ob holiday to my Wii weight....lol.

Lily - hope ear improves soon.

LaTrucha · 24/06/2009 19:30

Does anyone know where you can get plain-coloured shoes for toddlers? I've tried all over (including start-rite which are plain but dark - not very summery).

I just want plain white or pink or beige or cream etc. All these multi-coloured flowery ones are not my taste at all!

LaTrucha · 24/06/2009 19:30

Oh, and I need a width fitting. She has wide feet!

JustKeepSwimming · 24/06/2009 20:11

Any on here any good?

i have used them before for sandals, going to order a pair for each boy soon.

LaTrucha · 24/06/2009 21:12

That's a good website - though no joy this time. Thanks JKS.

simpson · 24/06/2009 21:25

LaT - it is worth checking that website every few wks or so as stocks vary/change

I get all J's shoes from there thanks to JKS

Doesn't help you for the shoes you need now though

LaTrucha · 24/06/2009 21:28

I've seen some I almost like in Clarks. Why does my perfect shoe not exist? Next time I go to SPain I'm going to have to work out how to explain 'wide feet'. Maybe they do have some somewhere.

simpson · 25/06/2009 09:10

Hi all

Another lovely day here

My hayfever is starting to get out of control so need another trip to docs but the thought of dragging both Dcs on bus is putting me off somewhat

madmouse - sorry I vanished on FB last night but my "chat" kept disappearing so I gave up in the end

Nothing much planned today except sky is coming!!

So from tonight I will have TV.

Am still suprised I have broadband as I was told it would be gone by now, but I'm not complaining

JustKeepSwimming · 25/06/2009 09:29

I don't work for that website honest!

Simps - hayfever, yuk. friend of mine suffers badly, makes her hate the summertime while everyone else goes on about how lovely it is.
maybe the broadband people had sympathy for you
good luck with sky installation later - or is it just reconnection?

just saw/heard a cat being run over on the way back from pre-sch
heard a loud bang (so didn't actually see the impact thank God), looked over thinking the car going past must have hit a cardboard box or something. saw a man looking over too, then saw the cat. it died before we even got to it thankfully. wasn't sure what to do with it otherwise.
rang a few doorbells, found one lady who might be its owner - said i hope it's not but....
the driver didn't stop.
they would have definitely known they hit something.

tried not to turn into mad hysterical woman in the middle of the road but really how could you just drive off?!?

right, cuppa needed, then something calming like ironing!

simpson · 25/06/2009 10:22

JKS - how awful driving off knowing they had hit something Poor cat...glad it didn't suffer/linger though iyswim.

Sky is reconnection but have treated myself to sky+

LOL at you working for website

Been busy so far today, you would not believe the amount of paperwork there is getting gas, water, elect, council tax etc switched to my name only.

Some things are deliberately made difficult I swear. I thought after today everything would be done but no can't do electric as I have to give them meter reading and meter outside in cupboard and don't have key

So will have to call them again!!

Lilyloo · 25/06/2009 11:47

JKS That happened to my sis last week. A taxi driver did the same thing. Drove off.
She got cat in her coat , was very injured but not dead. She knocked on local house to ring rspca.
She then had to wait for an hour with cat before anyone came. Cat had no collar etc
Luckily the lady who she knocked on said she would pay vet bills and would keep it if it survived.

Some people just don't care

Nothing much happening here today but nice and sunny , may go and sit in garden!
