I did it! I did it! I took dd1 to the pool all by myself AND I actually got in the pool and stood there while she splashed me swam. Sazzles you'd have been proud. Total shocker how many moms just plopped their obviously not to great little swimmers in the pool and went off to read. That's a pretty bold thing to do in my book. I don't have THAT much faith in the life guards. This is the BIG pool mind you not the baby pool.

Reese went to work with her Daddy. He said all the ladies oooed and ahhhed over her. Well of course they did.

DD1 transformed back into her evil self on the way home thankfully that was followed my snoring so I carried her into the house still in her swimsuit and put her to bed. Guess that means she'll be up all night again.

Oops I failed to say I use the Playtex Drop-In bottles for Reese. Used them with DD1 too. Honestly you can get by with one bottle and a hand full of nipples. Totally easy. The nipples have flow speeds. We are using the RAPIDO level now...that's FAST by the way.

Go TS!

hotterpotter · 30/05/2009 21:10

Forgot to say before that we have got a blackbird's nest in the honeysuckle growing on the side of the shed by the back door, it's got four babies in it it's so sweet to see them start squeaking and mouths open wide as mummy or daddy comes along with a mouth full of worms . Just seen another nest in the willow tree further down too, 'tis babybird-tastic

No sign of Dizzy? Hope she is swimming in champagne cos her DH got the job

hotterpotter · 30/05/2009 21:15

Am slightly ashamed to admit I'm watching the last part of Boy Meets Girl on the ITV player It's fecking annoying though because I can't seem to fast-forward through the adverts

cyteen · 30/05/2009 21:20

lol hotter, brings back memories eh? sorry to hear the lurgy has struck you down too - i have a vile cold that has transformed into a hacking cough, so presumably DS has got some form of the same. He is currently sort of asleep on my lap but waking at the slightest provocation. I knew he must be genuinely ill earlier when he didn't even try and steal our curry.

oops i hope RedLentil's lovely (and true) words are of some comfort to you.

oopsacoconut · 30/05/2009 21:23

Evening All
Thank you all so much for your kind words. They made me cry (again). DD and I had a 'chat' in the bath this evening and she seemed to hear me. She took the TT bottle and Hipp organic follow on milk (yes I know it's a gimmick but DH was the one choosing)4.5 oz and fell asleep and is now sleeping on our floor as her room is too hot again.

Can't remember all the questions but here's an attempt...

Yes, I do have to up start Monday I am on a small does to slow down the progress of it but need to shut down my thyroid totally as I am not far off a thyroid crisis. I am currently running on fast forward, I can't write as I shake too much, my heartrate is currently (according to a nifty little monitor) 122 and I am sitting on the sofa MNing

I am pumping tonight instead of feeding her and will keep pumping until I am less uncomfortable. I am still planning on giving her 1 bottle of EBM a day as the nurse at the clinic told me that 1 bottle of milk expressed over the day (about 6oz a day)should be fine with no side effects.

Cyteen sorry to here DS is not well hope he settles soon and gets some healing sleep.

TS - thanks for your words earlier - it was the first response and DH said 'see she talks sense that American girl' Pleased you had a good swim.

better go back and see what else is going on...

hotterpotter · 30/05/2009 21:25

lol yes DS is like a baby bird when it's feeding time especially fruit and yoghurt

oopsacoconut · 30/05/2009 21:27

Lordy - I must be less about me me me tomorrow

Hotter - I love babybirds - our neighbour has bluetits nesting in his gutter and we have sparrows in our fascia boards.

hotterpotter · 30/05/2009 21:30

Don't be daft Oops you are going through a major trauma, of course you need to go on about it. I am so pleased to hear that DD took a bottle tonight, and that you get to give her some EBM every day In no time you will be better and able to bf her again

hotterpotter · 30/05/2009 22:01

Typical, I get a chance to chat without DH doing at me and you're all off having a life Think I'll go and watch telly.

oopsacoconut · 30/05/2009 22:13

No, no life here - sitting watching 'Mumbai Calling'

hotterpotter · 30/05/2009 22:26

I started watching a programme about John Milton with Armando Iannucci but it was too deep for a Saturday night so am watching Stewart Lee being a bit portly but still devilishly handsome partly due to his fantastic dry humour [swoon]

Not that I have been watching BGT but am that La Boyle didn't win. It's Gates/Young all over again

poppysocks · 31/05/2009 08:13

Phew! I've found you all. Hello!

Have done a super-quick skim, so so sorry for all that I've missed or if/when I've got entirely the wrong end of the stick.

oops - So sorry to hear of your thyroid woes and giving up bf. Having never known anything about thyroids a good friend had something that sounds v. similar exactly this time last year. She had it removed and it is incredible how tiny (and unnoticeable) the scar is, even though it's on the front of her neck. She's also now pg.

How did P get on last night with the formula? Today is my last day of bf, but that's because I'm going back to work and can't express . Not the same thing at all but shall we hold hands through it?

Hi dizzy [waves]. So glad all moving on on the cafe front. You'll be an informal catering magnate (with a healthy dash of community involvement) before we know it. And LOL at the humming bird. Pleased to hear L's b'day a success. Hopefully catch up properly soon.

I think VG's eloquence has been shared cyteen. You summed up my thoughts too about returning to work. This year has been the most incredible of my life and I'm so sad that it's coming to an end but it has been so good because I've known that it's just a phase iyswim. Is it tomorrow you go back? I'm a week tomorrow, but need to get DD2 settled at nursery, off the boob and my head around it all .

Loving the new outfit redlentil .

Thanks so much for the updates on the Bristol meet sazzles. So sorry to miss it. Really really wanted to be there, but it was just a bit too far. Next time.... In fact, will be down during the last week of August....

Sorry you've been down No1 and hp. Hope you're both feeling sunnier now.

poppysocks · 31/05/2009 08:14

Eek! Sorry about that. And stilled missed tons of things to comment on.

sambo303 · 31/05/2009 10:06

wow gorgeous day here

just caught up, hi redlentil I kinda guessed who you were on the last thread from the perfectly formed sentences

oops news about giving up bf before you planned and hope your condition is under control soon. Re switching to formula - my sister has finally found one her daughter likes - milupa, she tried all the rest and Roxane only drank a tiny bit - she's polishing off whole bottles
now. Her paediatrician told her formula tastes yukky !!! I have never tried the popular ones (ds has nanny care goat formula sometimes in cereal and I have tried that and it is yuk central -but he eats it)

poppy good luck with your preparations this week, this has been the best year of my life too and I dont want it to end

bit at all the ladies returning to work - feel a bit self indulgent having 12 months off plus hopefully 4 weeks parental leave on the end of that. I am thinking seriously of requesting 4 days a week as full time work just seems too much time away from ds. It's on my list to sort out next week so I can relax and enjoy the summer with ds

is there still a plan afoot for a london meet up??

cyteen · 31/05/2009 11:09

sambo I'm very fortunate that I was only working half the week beforehand, so shall be going back to that. I would be making very serious considerations if I was facing a return to full time work (am lazy enough as it is ).

Well, the less said about last night's two hour screamathon the better but thankfully DS seems to be over the illness, so it's just his massive teething pain to contend with now. Lots of drooling and hand in mouth. If this is what we've got to look forward to every time he cuts a tooth, god help us all!

sambo303 · 31/05/2009 11:17

cyteen poor Joe. Felix has been really unsettled this week and has had a high temperature on and off the last 2 days. Seemed to have perked up yesterday afternoon and only woke once last night. No sign of more teeth though. Lucky you only working half the week, sounds manageable.

cyteen · 31/05/2009 11:33

lol, ask me again on Friday!

hotterpotter · 31/05/2009 12:19

Hey Sambo good to see you. Don't be feeling self-indulgent, just glad . I'll have had a whole year off too when I return to work in 17 days, I did break up a bit early cos I was knackered, but DS didn't turn up for another 8 weeks so he will be just over 10 months. I went back when DD was less than 8 months so this is luxury for us this time. And I am getting to enjoy summer while still on mat leave . According to the forecast the weather is due to break on Wednesday and that is to make Cyteen feel better on her first day back

Glad to hear your DS is feeling a bit better Cyteen. Can't help on the teething I'm afraid. I have been incredibly lucky with my two and they seem to sprout teeth with no warning. The one consolation is that there are only 20

Poppy have you had a lovely holiday? Sorry to hear you have to give up bf too but yay for doing it so long.

Driving lesson this afternoon has been cancelled by mutual consent so can laze around in the sun again, hurrah . I will get the rest of the sweet peas in the garden...

HELP! Tag team SCREAMaTHON in session. All attempts at a normal life today have been SQUASHED by one of two little humans. DH gladly left our side while downtown and went to work. I gave up on the idea of fun and have returned home to pout. DD1 in back yard on swing & DD2 in back bedroom in crib.

I'd gladly return to work for any one of you ladies at the moment.

Sazzles glad you made it home and my signs help get you here.

Fussing getting less and less from the rear of the house but my current area has been invaded by the older issue who, although playing alone, is talking talking talking talking talking talking.

Steaknife · 31/05/2009 19:58

Wotcha!! Still in Blighty, trying to catch up on the thread, but hope all are okay.

poppysocks · 31/05/2009 20:00

Hol was great thanks. Tenty bit was fab, especially for DD1, who was in 7th heaven. A little parky on the first night, but a scorcher by the end of the week. It was so relaxing though and really made work/home feel a million miles away and the being on the farm thing was the best of all. So lovely to see DD1 happily wandering up to stroke chickens, confidently approach noisy pigs and feed them and manage to hold onto the end of a bottle that a hungry lamb was desperate to finish asap.

The weather for the rest of the hol was amazing and really made it. I have really, really missed the sun/warmth, having not left Scotland last summer and had a rainy holiday in both Italy and France the year before [crap luck].

The girls did so well with being strapped down for so many hours to get down and back. My sudden absence was largely down to us deciding on the spur of the moment to set off early and left at tea-time. Had a fantastic journey, transferred them to bed without a whisper but the day then started at 5am . Got them up at 4am yesterday to get back and were back for lunch so settled before bed. Still a 6am start today, but I know that's standard for many of you. Still a little tired though now .

Right, will go now and stop burbling, but thank you for asking .

oopsacoconut · 31/05/2009 20:12

Hi All

DDD coping okay today as am I. She had a BF at 6 this morning just before getting up [groan] then she had 3ozfor DH at 11ish but cried like someone was beating her when she was tired and needed feeding so I gave her her much loved BF and she fell asleep. This evening she had 5 oz from a bottle and is now very happily sleeping. She definitely does not like the Farleys/Heinz formula but guzzles will tolerate the Milupa and Hipp Organic. DD will now happily take eithrer breast or bottle. I e-mailed the other consultant today and he sees no reason why I can't BF DD in the mornings before I take my morning meds as it will be 12 hours since the last dose and there will be minimal in my milk. He suggested pumping and dumping until I get my first bloods in 4 weeks then starting BF again once the dose in reduced.

Poppy - hols sound great.

Hope miniCyteem and smallsambo are feeling better today.

Hi Sazzles/TS/Cyteen/Sambo/ALBS/Steaky and everyone else.

Have just been on the phone to a friend who's second IVF attempt has failed - I am so upset for her they have been trying since we started and are still waiting
