Oops it's good to hear you sounding more positive today . A good big morning bf will be a lovely thing for both of you, and those four weeks will hopefully fly by. Why can't all doctors take bf seriously though , thank goodness you got a second opinion. for your friend too. I can't imagine how awful it must be

Poppy your holiday sounds lovely. I am so excited at the prospect of being able to drive somewhere on holiday next year (only had 10 hours of lessons so far...) I think I have three different hols planned already

Hi Steaky hope you're still having fun

TS I hope you get some peace soon . Two girls though, that could be in short supply for the next 20 years...

Sazzles well done on surviving a weekend at PILs, sounds fab actually. This is one reason I am afraid to move more than 30 miles away - the prospect of spending more than a few hours in a row with my MIL...

Fun had in the garden today? Yes . Sweet peas planted? No Will try harder tomorrow.

pertelote · 31/05/2009 21:37

'allo 'allo mes amies...

Calorie-free cake all round as promised. And ice-cream, considering the weather: I can offer chocolate, pistachio, coconut, salted-butter caramel, apricot and rosemary or wild strawberry. Take your pick. Unless anyone would prefer the 'emotion fragola' dessert I had the other night which was very fine spaghetti cooked in strawberry juice, on balsalmic jelly, topped with mascarpone? (Think slightly bonkers trifle. Good though.)

Paris was so lovely, as always, though the second half of the week when DH was off conferencing in Milan was a wee bit trying (hence my dedication to sampling ice cream flavours for you). DD was very good on the train, was much admired and saw her great-grandmother which was lovely for them both even if my contribution to the conversation is pretty basic. And on the way home DH said we should try and fit in another trip before I go back to work

Apologies in advance, a week's worth of posts have just whizzed before my eyes... but Oops what a week for you, what a nightmare. Glad you're feeling a little more positive today, hope the morning BF/pump and dump plan works out, it sounds as though your consultant is supportive which is good.

Hope all the poorly babes are fast asleep and better come the morning... Must go and get some sleep, night all.

oopsacoconut · 31/05/2009 22:12

Lovely Ladies any ideas where I can get a cheap electric pump? I have been hand pumping but it is taking ages to get 6oz (about 25mins) which is okay when I am sitting watching but trying to get DD to sit and play whilst I do it may prove difficult. Am sad I have lost my 10oz in 10mins ability.

cyteen · 31/05/2009 22:17

Hi and bye everyone, DS has been going beserk every 40 minutes since we put him down so I am off to endure another shite night of watching my baby cry in pain with his fingers stuffed in his mouth See you tomorrow.

LoveBuckets · 31/05/2009 22:20

Hi all

Oops So good to hear your week's going to start off more positively. Good luck. If it's any use at all to know, Kurt's on 24oz formula a day - 8oz at brekker, 4oz brunch, 4oz afternoon tea and 8oz bedtime. I'll be swapping the daytime ones for water soon though as he eats plenty of dairy.

Hotter My dad has a video camera in a birdbox and this spring saw 11 bluetit eggs hatch out and fly away in the space of 10 days. You can tell he has a touch of 'Asparagus Syndrome' - how many people have a birdwatching video linked up to a dedicated computer in their conservatory?

Cyteen Did you know that you can give Calpol and Baby Nurofen in the same night? According to docs, the two together are quicker at reducing fevers. And the Nurofen comes with a cool pipette thing to squirt it into screaming gobs.

Woke up with a shocking migraine on Friday, just got over the worst of it by 9am, came down to find my PILs looking after the kids! Bless them, they stayed all day (normally this would be hell but I felt so crap still) so I nipped out at lunchtime and bought us all Burger King to say thanks.

Took DD and 3 friends for tea at zoo this avo, what a bunch of bickering old bags! DS1 has spent most of weekend wearing nothing but suncream and pants, often stuffed with leaves, in the front garden. He did a massive poo on the pavement too. Kurt's been a smidge feverish and just generally lacking his sparkle the last couple of days, fingers crossed it's another tooth. And I've been stuffing NCT newsletters again. Am off to bed.

Sweet dreams and sleepydust mes belles amies...

LoveBuckets · 31/05/2009 22:22

Oops You should be able to rent one from your local NCT branch.

cyteen · 31/05/2009 22:23

Buckets thanks for the tip, we're way ahead of you - he's so full of Calpol and Calprofen you can hear him slosh. The fever has broken today, thankfully, but I can only guess that there is a tooth just about to break through as he has never ever been so distressed and agitated Makes me realise what an easy baby he is the rest of the time.

Me again. I had a BRILLIANT idea! Too late to organise this year but how about we all go to a festival next year? With the marvels of today's technology, we could all camp close to each other and do a babysitting rota, and with menfolk in tow we could have a girls' night out too! They might even be permitted an afternoon of male bonding/forced socialbility / Mumsnet moaning if they play their cards right.

Sazzles - thanks for the offer, can I take you up on it please. We are about tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday so which every is best for you. Where would you like to meet? I could buy you lunch as a thank you.

Buckets - I could just see DH's face. He is already grumbling because I have booked him onto a dads only first aid course.

Cyteen heres hoping for a more peaceful evening for you. Have you tried the homeopathic remedy - Chamomilla? it seem to work with DD if all else fails. Will have a look in my book and see what else might be good for him. disclaimer - Homeopathy is a person preference, feel free to tell me I am talking tosh.

pertelote I am stuffed, the ice cream was great. would have been very rude not to have tried all the flavours. Glad you had a good time.
ok off to recheck back in a sec........

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/05/2009 22:55

sambo hope ds is better soon too.

steaky hi hope your ok

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/05/2009 22:57

poppy your holiday sounded wonderful, I am sooo excited for tomorow now. Feel like a big kid

LoveBuckets · 31/05/2009 22:59

Oh that's a rotten trick Oops, you know he'll get his own back on you one day.
LOL, well I had thought about just a meet-up camp weekend but a festival has more for the menfolk to do and talk about, plus beer. And children's entertainers. And food stalls. And the opportunity to rent a ready-tent/yurt for the less confident/less skint campers.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/05/2009 23:04

My dh would never ever camp in a tent ever...

oopsacoconut · 31/05/2009 23:05

No1 -neither would mine, he would find the nearest 5 star hotel and move in there!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/05/2009 23:07

Tis my wedding anniversary on the 2nd so wanted to get dh a little something extra so got a little bottle of champagne as big bottle too big to hide in my bag. (Too tight to buy big bottle really) I have just remembered Its in ds wardrobe, so must go move it or will forget.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/05/2009 23:09

oops that is my dh exactly. He went camping once to Milan to watch superbikes and he hated camping as it rained so he dumped the tent and checked into hotel. He said never ever again will he go in one.

TwilightSurfer · 01/06/2009 01:53

evening all. both dcs are still up and about but not for too much longer. dd1 has her first tennis lesson in the morning. reese is standing here trying to bite my leg and laughing. my goal this evening is rest for me.

buckets i think your idea is brillant. true camping though could be converted into hotelish style camping very easily.

okay i am officially logging off now.

see ya'll tomorrow.

p.s. sazzles is your camera an olympus?

hotterpotter · 01/06/2009 08:21

Buckets that is a brilliant idea . Am really going to have to pass my test now...

Pertelote coconut for me please, and do you have any chantilly cream? I spent two summers in Corsica as a teenager with my French pen friend and one of my fave memories is of sitting out eating ice cream sundaes smothered in chantilly. Ooh, ooh, if I pass my test I can go on holiday to Corsica again

No1 I hope you have a lovely holiday and come back raring for a meetup with us

Oops good luck for today

TS hope you are far away in the land of dreams

DD off to MIL's this afternoon for a sleepover, will be very quiet without her. Might even get those flipping sweet peas in today...

Miamla · 01/06/2009 08:28

i was required to be a poo stand ie i sit on floor, DS holds my shoulder and he poos. he's going to have to learn how to do it without me by the time he's leaving school!

had a hen do on sat, much fun. longest i've left DS but he was of course absolutely fine. he had his first nighttime "i don't want anyone else apart from mummy" meltdown 20mins after i got back so was perfect timing. it would seem he's happy taking a bottle except when he's tired at night. anyhow, small steps and all that
spent yday with pil. one word sums it up "interesting"

oops sounds like you've come up with a great plan re morning bf. thank goodness for the consultant with some sense

pertelote you completely distracted me with your talk of ice cream!

buckets yes yes yes! that's a great idea re camping. less fussed re festival bit. have you heard of this place We're hoping to get married there. ooh, it'd be lovely if you could all come
